...... Ok, we have a GMC 1500 Ecab, 4x4 Z71, with the 5.3 and a "stump puller" rear end .. black in Dallas .. need to have all those dent's and dings taken out.

Double nickels for miles, the miles and the color aren't going to be your friends here .. unless I read your description wrong, it sounds like a $15/$16,0 vehicle to me on a trade .. $17 ..? maybe if it had 25k.

..... Sorry, I was talking to myself when I hit your post ..

           >>but we covered the numbers on that a while back<< - and I couldn't figure out that part .. l.o.l..

              Aaalll righty then -- it's a 00 with 28k, it's an EX, it's an auto, it's red, it's a 4wd- if it's a clean one and it needs -0-, in and around $13 on a trade ...

    Hi guys,

I'm hoping you can give me a ball park on this car. I have a red, 4 dr, '99 GT, 61200 miles, pwr seat, CD, sunroof. It looked new inside and out until my neighbor smashed it in my driveway. Nashville, TN area. Now it has had $6300 in repair. Yes, I know it should have been totaled, but his insurance company had them repairing it before I knew what was happening. Anyway, I am left trying to get rid of it. I don't really want to go the private party route as I'm 7 months pregnant and just want to get the best I can and get in a new car before baby arrives. Please help!

Hey boys, it has been a while, gald to see you are still at it.... Here goes:

2000 BMW 528i auto, prem pkg (cows and trees on the inside), roof, 47K mi, "anthracite silver" (dark grey), BMW certified. Dealer wants 27,9

    or

1998 BMW 528i with the same goodies plus rear airbags in a lighter silver with 52k mi, BMW certified. Dealer wants 21,9.

That seems like a big spread for 2 years and 5K miles.

    Thoughts?

..... Hello Shelly .. yep, I remember this one from the other posts, pregnant ..? -- don't blame me, I was home that night :)

I really don't know what to tell you about this one .. lot's of damage and it's been repaired. I can't see it, so I can't say "how" it came out. Without the accident, it "may" be worth "around" $5,500 .. you can try some dealers and carmax and see what happens ..

           I wish I was more help ...

    ... is calling my name!

Hey, Terry, you're looking lonelier than the Lone Ranger when Tonto's on vacation!

Looking to buy a used 2002 Lexus IS300 from a Lexus dealer here in Houston, Texas. Dark grey, beige leather, auto, 12k miles, power seats, spoiler, deep tires, looks like new inside and out. Whadda ya think?

    Thanks in advance!

2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo, 4x4, 28K miles, no options at all (so it has 6 cyl engine, Selec-trac transfer case, basic goodies like pwr windows/locks/mirrors, CD, A/C, alloy wheels). No leather/ sunroof/ upmarket sound/ tow pkg. Exterior color sage green, interior black cloth. Overall very nice condition, minimal scratches on exterior, but interior looks brand new. Tires good, everything drives "tight".

I'm looking to buy this Jeep, not trade it in. Local (Northern Nevada) dealership lowest price was $18,350 before TTL. Good deal ?

... but I'm pretty happy. In less than 10 days, I bought the 94 Geo Prizm LSi with 106K on the clock and sold the 87 LeSabre.

I probably "overpaid" for the Geo at 25 Benjamins but a verified one owner, garage kept car with slider and a handshaker, and all the service records indicating the 30,60,90K services, and brand new Goodyear rubber ( sneakers, belts and hoses), I don't have any regrets.

I think I took the guys head off with the Buick at 13 Benjamins for the 87 with 130K clicks on the clock.

So all in all, I think I did really well, and like the smaller Geo much better. Although, I may see if I can get the power lock hardware or just buy a retrofit kit for that...

I won't save enough in gas to make up the $1200 difference. But I expect fewer repairs for the simpler car over the next couple of years.

I have a bit more room in the driveway too. It's like half the Buick just disappeard 8^)

..... Ok Dan, we have low miles, the color is just kinda ok, we have the Disney package and all the stuff without the leather .. Montana's and Ventures aren't burning down any barns right now .. trade side, the high $14's, might see the low low $15's if it's puuuurfect, glows in the dark and needs -0- ...

                I hope this helps ....

...... $27,900 is a little stiff and so are the miles .. let's say they stepped right up to $22/$23,0 to make a deal, let's do some service, certify, detail, a little this and that, let's use $24 to the table - $26,0 is A L L the money for a high mileage 00 .. the 98 "seems" to be the better deal, should see that one at $20,0 and some change -- lot's and lot's of "5's" running around right now .. even in "Naw Leans" ..

Gracias Amigo. That is about where I was thinkin. 24-25K is probably fair to the dealer. I doubt I could get below 24...but you never know.

Hey dealer offered $5400 trade-in for 2000 malibu. Car is not an LS, but has pw, pdl, cd player, records, good rubber(9K on tires) dark brown, clean, not dings or dents, and 44K miles. I've only had the car a week and a half. How much better can I do if I sell it? Dealers in area are asking 9-10K for same car. I only paid $4000 for it.

We are thinking of buying a 2000 Volvo S70 (non turbo)with 55000 miles on it. The dealer is quoting us a price of around 16,000, including the certified/limited warranty. It's pretty loaded--leather, seat heaters, cd/am/fm stereo, power everything, sunroof, etc. Are we crazy to buy a used Volvo with so many miles on it? What are your thoughts on the price? We seem to be only hearing negative things about Volvo upkeep and are having a hard time tearing ourselves away from our maintenance free Honda!
  • atlcarguyatlcarguy Member Posts: 7
While I can't tell you wether the price is right, I can tell you about volvo ownership. My family is on it's second turbo volvo and will probably buy a third. The first was a 1989 760 Turbo which was traded in on the current 1998 V70 Cross country. The 1989 didn't have a single problem, other than regular service, from 1 mile to 120,000 miles when it did become costly. The 98 XC70 has 89,000 miles on it and has only had a couple problems, both of which were part of the all-wheel-drive system. Volvo's do seem to require their routine service, when it's suppost to be done so check service records. Just my 2 cents!
  • dmuzykadmuzyka Member Posts: 31
Look carefully at that '98 S70...that is the ONLY Volvo model that Consumer Reports recommends staying away from. We just unloaded ours (75K) for $6000...leather, sunroof, power seats. It needed about $6000 worth of work (AC, ABS system, transmission work...). It was cheaper to dump it (we took a bath!) and we went RUNNING back to a Toyota. The Volvo was solid and safe...but unreliable. Too many other people are selling solid, safe, reliable cars these days....
  • qbrozenqbrozen Member Posts: 33,736
who mentioned a '98 S70? did i miss that one? must have. I see an '00 s70 up there and a '98 XC70. Oh well. Old age I guess.

my '98 has been great, by the way, but that's all detailed on the S70 board.

tioman - I think that's alot of miles for $16K for ANY car (unless its a ferrari or a collectible), but that's just my preference.

    '11 GMC Sierra 1500; '98 Alfa 156 2.0TS; '08 Maser QP; '67 Coronet R/T; '13 Fiat 500c; '20 S90 T6; '22 MB Sprinter 2500 4x4 diesel; '97 Suzuki R Wagon; '96 Opel Astra; '11 Mini Cooper S

    How about this one?

    power windows, locks, mirrors
    CD player
    keyless entry
    13K miles

still in NJ. Don't know color. Let's say white. Dealer has it advertised at $15,9.

...... Must be a pretty nice one (44k.?) that a dealer offered $5,400 .. Me personally, I would grab some ad's, get a great detail by a pro, (can't cost more than $100) .. run a Great 5 liner Ad in the largest paper in your area for $8,900 and take the first $7,5/$8,500 ..

This is kinda like a "baby lottery ticket" .. $4,000 ..? you stole that puppy .. now is the time to cut it loose, another 6/7 weeks and it won't be worth much more than that ...

Good luck and let me know ...

..... You little devil, where have you been ..?

55k on a 98 ES, where the heck is the CD ..? anyway, probably has $13ish or so in it, I would think $15ish would be fair for both ...

The buyer may come back and buy the Caddy Deville wheels for $200. I let him have five photos of the car with those wheels on it...

He seemed to like the look.

If I thought I could stand people for extended periods of time... or maybe if this whole computer fad finally peters out...

..... It's got some miles, but you knew that l.o.l. needs some work, you knew that too .. right color and the rubber is deep.

It's probably worth "around" $5ish on a trade, needs $800 to make it right, with everything done you could ask $8,900 .. with it needing stuff, I'm thinking $7,500 -- what were you thinking ...?

Green or blue or black ... ? what ..? was it used in Iraq as a camouflage vehicle ..?

You know the drill, good service history, deep in rubber, checks out fine, no rust, no WMD in the back seat .. thinkin' they have $4,0 in it .. sounds like a double nickel sale to me ...

Thanks Terry -- I wound up buying it at $18,175. It's pretty much immaculate inside, only a few scratches outside. I don't think the prior owner was a Nevada resident; this Jeep doesn't show any signs of harsh winter use.

    Terry,

Are the IS300s doing that well in the aftermarket? Edmunds says full dealer retail is only 26K. They say the 2001s are in the 23k range for average.

What do you think about these cars?

sister's friend is looking at a pearl white 00 millenia premium with roof, leather and bose. It has 44k miles on it. What would be a good price to try to get this vehicle for.

    ....... Let's take a look here .. we have a dark blue VR6, with a handshaker and 38k .. nice little "pocket rockets" ..

The color is fine for Colorado, might bite you in Texas .. the miles are a little stiff and it doesn't have one of the things between the seats that you only have to move forward and back a few times ... depending on the dealer, trade side, in and around the $11's.

...... These are great vehicles, will run to 150/200k++ properly serviced, contrary to CR, remember CR thinks Hyundai is a great vehicle - so in my book they don't count anymore.

Is $16 a little tall ..? yeah, I think so .. if it had 25/35k then it might be worth it, even with the warranty, $15,0 "feels" right.

                     Terry.
  • rroyce10rroyce10 Member Posts: 9,332
..... DX, no leather no roof, with 13k .. probably has $13/$13,5 in it, this time of the year $15,0 would be all of it ....

...... 40k, it's an EX V6 and it's certified .. ya know the drill, super clean, new sneakers, no paintwork, great history .. $13ish in it, should be able to take this one out for $14,5/$15 ..

                   Terry.
  • rroyce10rroyce10 Member Posts: 9,332
........ Doesn't sound bad, needs a little this and that .. then I gotta think $2,500 - $400, so figure $2,000, that should purchase you a nice vehicle that will run til' 180/200k ...(?)

                      Terry.
  • rroyce10rroyce10 Member Posts: 9,332
...... This is a personal thing .. is it a well built vehicle, yeppers, will it run forever, oh yeah .. but I feel Lexus missed the market on this one .. I can't tell the difference between a IS300 and a Mazda Pro 5 .. but, still a well built vehicle, I think Lexus was on the hunt for the BMW "3" market and missed it ..

O1's are doing "around" $21ish at the auctions .. I can't tell how Edmunds' retrieves it's info, sometimes they are close, and sometimes they are off the target .. as is Nada, KBB, black book, Galves, etc ...
