is it worth trying to buy them from Chevy... buy back on the LT is $24K.. Z71 is $22K .. I heard that Chevy now is letting the lessee make an offer and negotiate a deal within 6 months of end of lease but only before the lease ends.. when it ends they are firm at the buy-back contract price.. I guess they are inundated with lease-end vehicles trying to move them
any idea what they might be worth at auction right now..

About a year ago the Mazda/Mercedes/Suzuki dealer sold out to the GMC dealership. The Suzuki line was dropped because they put too many demands on it, it was picked up by another dealership. So, that's how the GMC/Buick/Pontiac/Kia/Mazda/Mercedes dealership came to be.
Its funny to walk in there and see a Mazda 3 parked next to a Mercedes C280 which is parked next to a Kia Rio.

112k and counting .. handshaker, great color for the area, new Yoka's ~ well you should know the drill by now ... cooold breeze, service 100%, gotta look feel and drive like 50k, no kisses, no paint by numbers, no fade .. trade side, sounds like the $3's, "might" "maybe" could stroll towards $4,0 .... shove that dude down Retail Rd, super ad, great detail, "asking" $6,9 and cut that bad boy lose at the first $5,5/$6,5 .. keep the ego in the garage ...

Anyway, before we go, I had a question that got lost in the shuffle: Both of these cars look very clean underneath, with undercoating that has at least been washed (good) and maybe reapplied (bad). And neither one of them has a single VIN sticker on any body panel. Not a one. Does that mean they've BOTH been repainted? It seems unlikely; and the '93 has light scratches across the steel sun roof, as if a box was put there and then dragged across... that doesn't look like a recent repaint to me. Fender bolts are fine, haven't been turned.
So what's the deal, I thought cars HAD to have VIN stickers... no? Voluntary standard? It just struck me as odd that there are two cars like that side-by-side.
Whatever else may be wrong with them, Audi bodies and paint has been first-rate for decades, so if still looks great, that doesn't mean it's not original. Any guess as to what might be going on here?

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing when I was walking around the *Import Center* yesterday. Sad to see those nice German cars lumped in with the likes of Kia.
Also, Jolie, you should sell the trucks and get a Caravan. Oh, no, not the Dodge variety; the other one.

Got a call on the Chevy today.......speaking of selling trucks. Also talked to a mortgage broker, might be buying a house in the next few months. I already told hubby I'd sell the Explorer if it meant getting a house. (We live in a 27 year old mobile home in the middle of no where)

2001 Mercury Sable GS Sedan-white with gray interior, 76,000 miles (I can already see you frowning), no accidents, all service records since new, alloys, trunk cd changer, ABS, Side airbags, power driver seat, bucket seats. Good condition, non-smoker (owner). 2 very small door dings on passenger rear door, no other wear on exterior other than some minor road rash on the front from the highway. Never been damaged, original paint, clear title. Interior is very clean, no cuts, burns, or french fry invasions. Paint glossy. About 70% tread left on front tires, 50% on rear.
Thoughts on trade value (I am braced...:))

Auction side $3500-$4500 depending on the specific condition of the car itself. Condition varies a lot on those. You will be looking at something in that range trade side.
Lots of those (not leather) at dealer retail for the low $7K's or slightly under. There are lots of people looking for good running, good looking cars in the $5-6K range, it might be an easy sell with all the maintenance records and a good touch up of the road rash.
You probably already know the 2003's at retail with under 20K are going for $12K at retail (lots of those and the twin Taurus available), the high quality Ford product depreciation going on here.
Once Ford switches Taurus to one plant, after the 500/Freestyles are put into production, should cut the over-supply of Tauruses.
He's talking about trading the Ram again.....like he didn't learn a few months ago that its gonna take a backhoe to dig him out!!
2001 Dodge Ram 2500 quad cab, long bed SLT, 4WD, Cummins, auto, power everything, am/fm/cd, red/gray cloth, 40k, needs tires, has some small dings and scratches. Interior is fair at best, still has blood on the headliner (not a whole lot, but its there) and he has his dogs in there a lot.
I'm thinking $21k on a stretch is what the thing is worth. I think he owes $25k+.
I kind of felt like I was in the ballpark. I was hoping for $5000-$5500.
Not a problem though, the car looks great appearance-wise and shows much better than the odometer indicates.
Resale on these cars is really bad though, and I knew that going in. I know the miles hurt me, but imagine what it would have been worth if it were a 2001 Accord LX with the same mileage!
Everyone's participation on this board is awesome.
I see many of the post 98 Sable and Taurus corporate cars with excess of 130K on them still running well and not looking too bad.
BTW what were you looking to trade the Sable in towards.
We ran the miles up on it, and wife is looking for an excuse to get rid of it.
Seems to having an itch for a Honda Odyssey van (more room, sit up higher, easier to get the kids out of, etc.) Even at 4500 trade or so, the car is almost paid for, so not really a problem.
This car itch is expensive.....

How about you tell us what you got, and someone here will tell you what they think it's worth.
For starters, forget the "excellent" or "good" condition column for any high miler. Mileage IS part of the condition of a car, a fact that isn't advertised but is still true.

Taking a not-so-wild guess, we have the 2.0 liter engine and the automatic... no-sale green is not going to be a big help -- it's not one of those weird colors is it, just green? Who knows what that does with a bug anyway. Be glad for the 2.0; the 1.8T is a desirable engine to many, but the mileage would scare people *unless* you've got a great, documented service history. Still and all, it's a reasonably desirable car that's only 4 years old... VWs have their little electrical glitches and sometimes not-so-little mechanical problems, but they're built well and do last....
Due to the high mileage, this thing is going to be a candidate for wholesaling unless your dealer is really low on merchandise. And in any event, financing is going to be tough because of the mileage.. both factors don't help trade-in value and I'd suggest a quick private *cash* sale for an attractive price.
I think you'll get hit with offers in the mid-$3000 range; anything much over $4 would be an overallowance. Clean it up, put an ad on the company bulletin board and in the biggest local paper, good description, service records in a folder, ask $5,900 and take what you can get from someone who wasn't planning on buying a car this month -- $5 even strikes me as a good deal where I'd be tempted to buy, were I looking to buy one of these privately. With a car like that, it's all in how it "shows", the better it looks, feels, and smells, the quicker it'll sell -- and bring extra money.
But I've spoken out of turn, and mostly just for practice. Terry will advise, correct, and admonish, I trust.

Mathias is pretty darn close, Big big big miles, hope it's an auto .. if it looks drives feels like 50k, deep sneakers, service is 110% .. "Might" see the high $3's, "maybe" $4ish .... not only does it have big miles, but it's in competition with just Kabillions of the super clean 25/30k 00 Bugs, and there only doing the $7's ..... send it down Retail Rd if you can.
