The Sandman :-)
(From sunny South Florida where it hit 80 this afternoon!)
Thanks for your time.
Now thats funny ..... ROFL ..
Terry.
Well, I feel better .. let's see now, it's an 03 coupe, no help, it's a handshaker, no help, we have double nickels for miles, lotsa help, EX V6 can't hurt, color is ok for the area, ... trade side, in and around that low to mid $18's depending on the dealer, the handshaker and the coupe stuff is killing ya, might "maybe" could roll towards the $19 figure,
maybe ..
I hope this helps ....
Terry.
<<< Now thats funny ..... ROFL .. >>>
Oh sure, blame it on us helpless women. Men, I swear.
;-)
Terry.
It's a base, it's a handshaker, it's got miles, gotcha .. unless this thing is "whacked, cracked and smacked" it's gotta be worth $7,0+ ... $5,400 ...? .. I musta read this wrong, this must be either a ruff vehicle, or you need to shop some dealers, make sure you give this thing a bath ..!
Terry.
Just to add more info, I am on the east coast(Philadelphia, PA area). As for the condition, it's in good condition, normal wear and tear for a 4 year old car.
Actually these a pretty nice vehicles, but now is not the time to be selling them ... $29,0.! ~ time to wonder down to the local Yee-Haw club and kick up the heels.!
Terry :-)
terry - <<< Now thats funny ..... ROFL .. >>> Glad I could make your day.
Jolie - it's always because of women!!
OT - terry, many 03 Saab 9-3's coming through the auctions yet?
Have you ever been to Portugal ..? .. it's one of those places I think I would like to travel to ..
Terry.
Go Avs!
Puck
That would depend on you .. super clean, super deep in sneakers, lookin' and feeling like 25k .. down Retail Rd, $9,495 *asking* and grab the first $8,0/$8,9 .. the miles and the handshaker hold this one back, so your competition is tough in that price sector ...
Terry.
The 03 9-3's seem to be an even better value now. When I get serious in the spring I'll provide and ask for more details.
I find Mass. preferable to Iowa, but is it "Pay 2-3x as much for the same house" preferable? No way.
All the dealers I've dealt with, which include some I'm personal friends with, only use Galves in this part of the world. Every now and then it'll hit a higher $$$ than Edmunds, NADA or KBB. The only time it did for me was when I ditched a problematic just out of extended warranty 5 year old 95 Jetta GLX w/65k and a do-it-yourself tranny at a Toyota dealer on a trade for a Celica GT. Got 10g's for it. About a grand more than the other guides. Anyway I can't understand why VW's have great resale but.....thats another thread.
More typical was the 95 Ranger Supercab 2wd V6 stick with 80k that got sold the year before, where it being a one wheeler peeler, with miles and the manual got deducted all the way down to 4 grand. I did a private party sale for twice that.
As for houses, mine has appreciated somewhere between 200 and 250k in all of three years since I bought it, basically a 60% increase over what I paid. Lots of money on paper to pay for cars!
Terry.
In any case, Galves is why I retail most of my own cast-offs.
But I shouldn't be choir preaching. Back to lurk-o-dom.
Most buyers know these SEL's better than the guy who built it, so you have to have it ALL done to specs .. it's been garaged, U l t r a low in the miles dept, THEE color inside and out and it's gotta stand tall, no repaints, seats look "hovered" in, it better have new round things (don't let anyone "touch-it up) and of course a Super duper detail and a Great Ad and every swingin' service record since D-Day ...
Trade side, hmmm, in and around the $8/$9's depending on the dealer and depending on how this dude looks and feels ... down Retail RD., Without trying to cave somebodys head in, all party's sleeping well at night and making no enemies, I would settle for the high $11's, probably $12 even ...
If: it's as nice as you say it is, I mean puuuurfect, it glows in the dark and it needs -0-, you could *ask* $15,0 and maybe see the mid/tall $13's, "maybe" the low low low $14's ~ that's if it's walkin' talkin' stalking' death .. but to keep the peace, $12,0 ... but then again, their not my friends ~ now, if it was one of the guys I play golf with, I would be charging him $20grand, this guy has more holes cut in his pockets then a oil rigger .l.o.l..
What were you thinking ...?
Terry.
Your service is invaluable and entertaining. Thanks!
I have a 2003 Subaru Legacy SE sedan. I am needing to trade it for a Baja -- I need the hauling capacity.
I know I'll take a hit on the sedan, but how much? The Legacy has 5,000 miles, it's silver with a manual tranny and all of the SE options, roof, wheels. It is pretty much in new condition, as it is still new! I'm in Indiana.
Thanks, in advance, for any info you can provide.
Darrin
Thanks.
1999 Volkswagen Passat 1.8 Turbo.
6 CD changer
Power doors/windows/sunroof
Alloy Wheels
Average condition - upolstery needs to be cleaned
Edmunds states $9200. Is this what I should expect?
Would you know what my car would go for at auction?
Thanks Alot,
PT
On an aside, you'll ALWAYS get your money back, and then some, if you have the car professionally detailed, whether you're selling it privately or trading in.

Thought I'd check to see how my car is doing (now would be the time to switch to a convert if I'm going to do it this year - yeah, I'm still thinking S2K).
*2002 Honda Accord Coupe EX-V6
*Automatic tranny
*Black
*43k miles
*Boston area
*Will need new tires in 5-8k miles
*Has a spoiler
*Interior in great shape, looks "hovered in," no fries, no nada, except that the driver's floormat needs replacing (worn spot by my gas pedal foot)
*Exterior in good shape, not perfect:
+Rear bumper is scuffed at both corners - touch up looks good, but it's visible at 3 feet if you're looking for it. Doesn't catch the eye, but it's there. A repaint would be $400.
+Has a couple of very minor dings, and one larger (quarter-sized) one that I'd have PDR take out before I put it on the market.
+Has a 1 inch by 1/2 inch scuff on one of the alloy wheels
+Overall, looks pristine from 15 feet, but it's had some wear and tear that any close inspection will find.
*Has had all the maintenance, and I have the records.
What say you?
Anyway, it's black outside with that kinda bronzee, baby poop tan brickish interior color .. Rwd, miles are kinda almost lowish, it's got the Disney package, the wheels, seems to have all the stuff .. trade side, in and around that $34/$35 zipcode, there kinda all over right now, you might not get as much help with the black color in H-Town ...
Terry ;-}
1998 Lexus GS400
70k mikes-bought used at a dealer and has the 100k certifed warranty
black with white leather(ivory ?)
has all options I believe includeing mark levinson and navigation
its in Phoenix, and in good shape--no kisses or kfc spots
what say you? thanks in advance
Right color, lot's and lot's of miles, we have the meat cleaver and the power pack ... trade side, in and around the the $9's, maybe the low $10's depending on the dealer, the miles are killing ya here ...
Terry.
'01 GS430
all options minus mark levinson sound system and navigation system
44,000 miles
black with tan interior
no dings, scratches
interior is in excellent condition
overall the vehicle is in excellent condition
one owner
I was offered $26,500 at the dealership. Seems a little low.
What are your thoughts? Thanks.
Thats A L L the money and then some .. obviously the dealer is killing himself to sell an Aviator (which I happen to like alot) .. it's a black 430 with 44k in a cold, snowy Yankee city in January ~ you need to be there when they open .! ~ ... the ultra clean 25kers are only doing $28ish ...
Terry ;-)
Houston, TX
non-navi
34k miles (purch in 7/01)
great shape, inside and out
Edmunds takes off like $800 for mileage, but the 2002's came out really early so the car really has average mileage--should I still expect the dealer to penalize me though?
Has the isolated transmission problems of these cars had an affect on resale?
Would I expect an Acura dealer to give a better trade than, say, a Honda dealer?
Thanks, Chris
What can I say, there is plenty of these around, so as long as it has no terrorists attacks, no rust, new sneakers, not that funny purplish or that greenish kinda almost color, you should be seeing the mid to high $3's, maybe the low low low $4's if it's nice and needs -0- and you have a desperate dealer .. if it needs stuff, start deducting ... the low miles and the 4dr saves this one.
Me personally, I would get a magnificent detail job, put in a great 5 liner Ad in the biggest paper in your area and drop this pup down Retail Rd for $5,900 *asking* and drop-kick that dude south for the first $4,9/$5,5 ...
Let me know .!
Terry.

==================
These are pretty nice little rigs and in your neck of the woods they can get stupid money (-15, Yeow ~ it's 80 here) actually there pretty strong everywhere .. this one is the TRD, 4x4 EC Limited with low miles, color is eh' .. dealer probably has $22/$23, could have $24 in it, these are few and far between and nobody gives them away with the warranty, I would think it would take $26/$27 to get it home - whats he asking .?
Great question on the Titans .. thats a really Tough market to crack .. Toyota will make around 100,000 Tundra's this year, but they have done it slowly, quietly and with great quality with the smaller trucks, which makes their resale high ..
Just like anything else, lots of anything and the price goes down, few of anything and the price stays high -IF, the quality is there and folks like the looks and the feel ...
What will the Titan do in the next 2/4years ..? .. Nobody can guess that one ~ the competition is going to be Tough, lot's of great trucks out there, the new F150 for starters and 25++ years of: I drove my Cheby to the Leby stuff .. they will have to Earn every dollar, truck by truck and that's going to take some time .. we will see.!
Terry ;-}
By the time we got to Anchorage yesterday the front end had gotten so bad that we were thinking, ok, we are going to be walking soon. Nothing like the dealer hearing you before you get there. Had some other issues with it too, sad since it only had 57k on it. New truck has a working heater, what a concept and it doesn't squeak like a 20 year old Chevy.
Now I will avoid car lots, no need to visit them, we have 2 trucks under warranty. Hubby says if I even think about wanting to get rid of the new truck he'll kick my butt into the middle of next year, especially since he spent his bday going to get it.
Actually, I bought a 2004 Ford Explorer XLS Sport. Now before you all say how stupid that was and blah, blah, blah, I happen to like Ford and I love the new Explorer. I figure with an ESC until 100k it isn't going to cost me anything in repairs which is all I care. So far its flawless and we've put a little over 300 miles on it. A bunch of that was coming home through 90 mph winds, handled great.
BTW, the only vehicles we saw broke down on the side of the road were 2 Toyotas and 1 Subaru.....how's that for a twist?
