Silver exterior, dark gray cloth interior
New snickers

He is looking to maybe sell privatly or trade it in for a 2002 or 2003 Dodge Intrepid in the 9 to 11k range.
What should he see at the dealer, or should he just sell private party?
Thanks again!
66k in a Nissan doesn't mean much to you or myself (*if it's been properly serviced) Altima's will run 170/200k ...
But the overall market get's a little shaky when they hear that figure, smart buyers like Mathias and a few others know and understand the difference and have no fear, that being said, higher miles always diminishes the market your trying to address, so you always have to accomodate it with a lower price, the problem is the "books" and the "info sources" don't reflect the "true" action of the miles .. what will sell first.? a 66k 99 Altima, or a 36k 99 Altima ..
Your vehicle should sell easily down Retail Rd (if it's nice and clean and looks like 36k and it's not overpriced) a dealer will just drop it to a wholesaler or to the auction, that doesn't make it bad, that's just the market, your lucky your not driving a 3/5 series 66k BMW, the "books" show Big money for them, the problem is trying to get it, and don't hold your breath cuz' your going to be the blue boy in the last seat at the dance .. got it.?
Terry ;-)
Absolutely not .l.o.l.. I have a very dry sense of humor, I guess you just need to read a few of my posts .. some get it, some don't ...
Terry.
"Usually" it's the higher mile ones, 15/20k+, mostly with the FFV and with a "delete" package, no wheels, no cd, no slider, no pwr pass seat .. 10,900 is a good price, they probably paid in and around the mid $9's, by the time they pay the auction fee's, transport, service, detail, pack, they probably have almost the mid $10's in it .. the $10,9 is a "get ya in the door" price, the rest depends on the miles, condition, color, options ....
Good luck and let me know ...
Terry.
Aren't all Vulcans FFV's now?
2020 Acura RDX tech SH-AWD, 2023 Maverick hybrid Lariat luxury package.
I'm not trading in the Shadow. I just filled the tank and doubled its value. Plus, I love my little turbocar.
No deal on the Taurus...the guy refused to deal at all. Oh well.
Hi Terry,
Can you give me trade in and private sale figures on my Accord? Here are the specifics:
2002 Honda Accord SE 2 door coupe
19,000 miles
White exterior, tan cloth interior
Tinted windows
Auto with 4 cylinder
AM/FM CD and Cassette
NO side airbags
Interior and Exterior are both in very good condition
Service is up to date since day 1
Tires have plenty of tread left
No problems at all, just looking to trade up to something more sporty.
Phoenix Metro Area
What say you?
Thanks again for the help!

Anyway, the FFV engines are a fleet option for Tauruses, for EPA credits. On retail ones (10% of Taurus sales, JK) Vulcans are gasoline.
One can get a year old Taurus SES, with options (except Duratec V6 and sliders) for about $4000 less than a brand new, strippo Taurus LX.
I'm back again. I was looking at a CPO 2000 Lexus GS300 (Platinum edition) with 31300 miles. It is silver with black leather interior, has every option except Mark Levinson stereo and chrome wheels. It is in immaculate condition and was listed at 28131. His best price was 26000. Is this a good price on this car? Any advice you can offer would be appreciated. Thanks!
I humbly bow to the great salesman from Denver, you are thee Man .. you better be at church on Sunday because that was a gift ~ hey, if ya ever need a job let me know .l.o.l.
Thanks for letting me know ..!
Terry :-)

HA I am THEE WOMAN, that IS!! There is a sucker on every corner, right? Anyway, it was a great car for me and I expect it to continue to do well with its new owner. I have to chuckle every time I see someone driving around a recently purchased used A4 though...boy was I happy to get rid of it, and I learned my lesson on resale value. THANKS!!
It seems most dealers prefer the FFV's because they will do $400/$500 less .. but your right, they make a Great buy on the used side, I usually buy the loaded up 24V6 SEL's with all the junk, miles in the 7/8/9k range, there barely breaking the $11's, lotsa Bang for the buck ...
Terry.
I'm glad things worked out .l.o.l. you musta been wearing your: "let me show this part of the car" outfit ... $12 big ones, you got the whole Coma se' yama and the bag of chips .......
Terry.
Phoenix might be the second loudest city in the country next to Houston this weekend .. with all the great players and the FBR Open, it will be hopping ~ by the way, where do you get all those Crazy crowds from, the WWF.?
Anyway, let's see what we have here .. we have a 02 Hooonda coupe' SE, we have about 19k, we have the nice white for the desert heat, we have the 4 banger, we have tinted windows (why.?, it only get's 120 degree's there) we have a little auto action and you say it's in pretty good shape and the rubber is fine ....
If it's clean, no golf ball practices on the hood .. trade side, in and around the high $12's, might "maybe" see the low low $13's ...
Tell Sergio I saw him turn his head on the 18th, that's how he missed that putt ...
Terry ;^)
This is my favorite Edmund's forum btw! Whenever someone posts "Brand X should make a coupe..." or "Whizz Bang car should come in a Manual tranny...", I quote how they are poor resale and refer them to here.
Anyway .........
Terry.
Great, another big word I have to look up .....

Hmmm.. good to find you! You seem to have a very good reputation around the boards. I am looking to privately sell my dear 94 Honda Accord EX V6, it has 93,000 miles, it is inside and out immaculate. Never been in an accident. 10-disc changer added but factory single-CD player/cassette/radio. Hmmm..what else... sunroof, leather, power everything (including antenna) and it's blue. Had the timing belt, water pump replaced recently. I think I got everything! It's a special edition I got it brand new back in Jan 94 (WOW seems to long ago) and that's how I Got the v-6 in there. Thanks alot!!!!!
Dealer probably paid $20ish for it, maybe $21, added the CPO $22, add a this and that $22,5, probably dropped new rubber at it $23,0 .. at $26 he's not trying to hurt anyone, but I'm a little more inclined that he would do $25 in the cold snowy days in PA .. is there a trade involved ?

Thanks for the info. Though I'm a Steeler fan, I'm actually from Ohio, but the days here are just as snowy and crappy as they are in PA all the same. When he told me 26K was doable with no negotiation, I figured he was getting over pretty good. I'll start at 24.5K and see if it flies. No trade involved, so we will just be talking straight sales numbers. I went to see the car today and talked to the salesperson, who said the car has been on their lot for about 1 1/2 weeks. It is immaculate and if I can't get him to take 25, I won't feel that bad about it. I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks again!
No such thing as a "Special Edition" either...are you sure it isn't a '95?
2003 Honda Accord LX
4 doors
4 c. engine
Desert Mist (kinda gold/silver) exterior
Lightish beige cloth
automatic trans.
1800 miles
no dents, dings........perfect
definitly still smells new
She paid $18.5k for it 6 months ago. Any thoughts on most painless way to wiggle outta this car? Thanks!
Traded the 2002 Accord SE coupe (Post #17098) today for a 2002 Mustang GT Convertible
The particulars on the Accord:
White, 19K, auto, tinted windows, all of the other goodies that the SE comes with.
You pegged it at 12's- maybe low 13's
Received $14,750 from a Ford dealer on this:
2002 GT convert, white, 13K miles, auto, MACH sound system, premium wheels, leather, one owner trade in with no flaws. Paid $18,500 for the 'stang.
How did I do? Guess it pays to shop at the end of the month and the pre-owned car department is 2 cars away from their goal for the month!
Thanks for your fast reply.
And oh yeah, Houston and Phoenix are also two towns that you should be GLAD that you don't have to drive in this weekend. The traffic in North Scottsdale by the Open golf tourney today SUCKED!

One wants a nicely optioned F350 4WD Super/KingCab (gas or diesel)but not a dually. She rides horses and wants to pull her princesses around. Budget will be around $15K (w/ flex)...
The other is looking for a late model e55 (lighter colors) w/ as many options as possible but costing no more than $40K all in (i.e TTL inclusive)...
Are u seeing these puppies at auction and if so, whats current pricing like?
TIA.
I have a '02 gls jetta turbo (13k)with all the options too that I may trade if the value is decent.
Any info is appreciated.

I have a 97 Chevy Blazer LT 4x4 with:
Dark Red
lots of miles 128k
Gray Leather
NO slider
AM-FM CD
PW,PL,
Auto
Alloys
Rubber is about 70-80%
interior and exterior are good(no major boo-boos)
Service up to date (dropped $3,000 on service last week!!)
I hope I haven't missed anything. Thanks for your help.
$14,5.?, they have a little overallowance thrown in there to "show" you $14,5 .... what was your -difference- figure.?
ps: if you go to the Opens super early in the am, like about now, you can watch them practice, snap some pics, get some autographs and shoot the breeze with a few of the players - most important, you miss the crowds and the traffic ........
Terry.
Terry.
Give me a little better description on this one, they "are" worth some jingle if they are "right" ...!
Terry.
If the service is 100%, no hacked out repaints .. then trade side, in and around the $2's, might "maybe" roll towards the $3 number, M a y b e .. there is just Kazillions of these around, but based on your description I would think $2,500 would flat kill it .. the 4banger and the miles slap it silly.
Or take it down Retail RD, great ad, wonderful detail, $4,900 *asking* and drop kick it off the driveway at the first $3,5/$4,0 - no ego here, just grab the cash and spend it on a great Superbowl party ...
Let me know how it goes ...
Terry.
It's a funny world out there... you *should* get more if you sell it yourself, but that's a small slice of the used market, people who can pony up $17 or more of their own or someone else's cash... these folks usually just go get a new one, or go with the 2-year-old Acura.
Good luck in any case... and be glad it isn't a Taurus...

The local Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep Megadealer in northern New Jersey has an '02 IS300 5 speed, 20k on the clicker, appears to have the usual extras the manuals came with...leather, roof, spoiler, slip, etc, plus kinda new looking summer sneaks. Looking through the heavy duty janitorial job it got, a few scratches here and there, but really presentable for 2 years old. Arrest me fire-engine red with black guts. Adverteased at 24,995. If I was a guessing man, I'd say they took it in as a trade on a Grand Cherokee. Its been that kind of winter, but I can't figure why its here and not at the same ownership Lexus franchise a mile down the road across the street, unless there's lots of room in the price and the UCM is looking to make a killing. With the color and wax job it's a bling-bling car you can see a mile away. Anyway, sorry to ramble, but can Terry, the wise sage confirm they probably have 20-21 in it, and it can be taken home for something between 22-23.5? Thx muchly - Rob
