............ It's a Yankee vehicle so the Quattro is a big help, we have the auto thing, it's got the cold package, 1.8T and we have 87k big miles .. if the service is 110%, no - uh oh it's Maaco, no terrorist attacks in the interior and deep sneakers .. then trade side, in and around the mid to high $5's, might see the low low low $6's if it looks and drives like 40k .. if it needs stuff start deducting ...
Let me know how it goes ...

The '01 M5 is 'listed' at $55k. I'd prefer one with <30k miles, but the CPO is somewhat comforting. Fortunately, I don't have an immediate need to buy one and have been enjoying the search for my perfect M5.

45000 miles, spoiler, gold emblems, ABS, looks and runs great (really!), for sale in Memphis (Graceland is very nicely done, and nice to visit once).
Questions: 1. Needs new tires, I figure it is better to give a credit so the new owner gets the warranty, or do I get my money back putting on new tires? If I kept it, I would put Michelins.
2. For some reason, this one was imported from Japan. Interestingly, the original buyer (I am the second owner) got it from a dealer in Kentucky, where Camry is built! I know someone who paid $2000 extra to buy a built-in-Japan model, but does this really make any difference in resale?

For 1999 Suburban 1500 LT
I forgot to mention the driver's leather is a little beat up. No tears, doesn't need repair, but looks like 80K. Interior color is more tan than grey. Thanks,
Walter

This forum is addicting! I have learned more here then I have from any other place. I am looking to trade or sell this rig for a new Tundra double cab.

How will the price of gas effect car values and new car prices?
______________________________
Hello Walter ..... I can't say about car/truck prices, right now folks are more than happy to spend the extra $65/$75 a month on their Excursions, Burbs, Tundra's, Sequoia's, MDX's, Yukons, FX45's, Landcruisers and their XC90's .. I don't "think" we will see any changes until gas "parks" itself *forever* at $3.50+ a gallon, but who knows, even then it might not change .. if we can spend $125 on basketball shoes, $90 on games and $50 every month on cell phones for 10 year old kids, then I don't think fuel will change things for awhile .l.o.l...
But anyway, this sounds like a 2wd - right.? .. we have 85k, some LT action, seats are lookin' a little on the terrorist side, new jumper, service clogging up the center console, new round things, stoppers are slow, right color anywhere, no paint work ... trade side, in and around the high $9's low $10's .. down Retail Rd, super clean, super ad, $12,900 *asking* and off it goes for $11,9/$12,5 .. folks love their Burbs ..........

** 1999 Audi A4 Avant Wagon by outoflove May 13, 2004 (1:01 pm)
Need feedback on reasonable trade in value for this vehicle:
5 speed, green, clean carfax, 75K, all new tires, needs the following work (dealer estimates in parentheses): a/c (900+), stereo (250), front link (440).
Loved this car but since warranty expired it's killing me with repairs, $1900 in 2004 alone with the above to do.
Suburu dealer (looking at Forester XS), gave me trade in value of $7520 with possible $500 upwards wiggle room.
New to Town Hall. Love the discussion. Thanks.

Oh, an Audi that needs a little work, why doesn't that suprise me .. great vehicles, but like Benz's if they don't have a warranty they can (and usually do) cost you your first born .l.o.l..
A 1999 Audi A4 Avant Wagon with a handshaker (now there's a winner) no-sale green, 75k and we need $2,000 in fix me up's - OFF to the auction this one is going .. $7250 ..? .. American money ...??

3rd seat, low miles, interior is kinda groovy, new sneakers, *unused trailer hitch*, Champagne and tan guts (great combo), rack, service is up to snuff - and no Walmart hit's or repaints .... trade side, depending on the dealer in and around the ultra high $25's low $26 range .... these sell real well (properly service and maintained) 50k.? no fear ... down Retail Rd, a Wonderful detail, stellar 5 liner Ad, $29,9 *asking* and off it hops at $28,9/$29,5 .....
Don't forget to let me know how it goes ....
Terry.
Sorry for the omission, but it is a 4wd. We rarely get 2WD Burb's here in the land of Sasquatch.
Thanks for the analysis of the market. I was unsure if it is in my favor to trade a gas hog, or buy a gas hog. Probably neutral.:)
Walter
There's a big difference between a 2wd and a 4WD Burb, "especially" in Sasquatch country .. a 2wd is probably worth $500/$900 less than what I posted because of that NW area ... and Your 4WD is probably worth the high $10's low $11's on trade if the 4wd has no click click going on ... down Retail Rd, $13,900 *asking* and $12,9/$13,5 gets a new owner .........
Your messing up my program .... PROPER INFO ............!!!!!!!!!!!!
.. and it's my fault for not asking .... uugh., I hate starting out my morning like this.

No Bozo sound, no cd, no sport, no leather ..? I bet you got a deal on this one .l.o.l. .. plus we have 84k ... if we don't have any I bounced off my aunt's garage, no KFC invasions, service is 110%, deep rubber and it looks and drives like 50k .. then trade side, in and around the mid to high $6's, "maybe" the low low low $7's if it doesn't have any soccer attacks ..
Down the winding path to Retail Rd get a stupendous detail, a spectacular 5 liner ad in the biggest paper in your area for $9,490 *asking* and cut that baby loose for the first $8,5/$8,9 .. the miles and that "high cost reputation" of repair is not your friend here, plus we have no options - so park the ego ...
Terry.
I'm looking to get an idea on a fair trade in value for my 2001-CRV EX 41,400 miles, excellent condition. dark green, manual 5 spd, Roof rack, tinted windows, new tires. This is in the Denver colorado metro area.
any help... should I start with the edmunds tmv for excellent? or above that?
==================================
Unfortunately there is no such thing as "excellent" -unless- it has 12/15k, never seen a snowflake, seats been "hovered" in, 20 coats of wax on a good color and it "glows" in the dark - plus, no one has sat in the back seats, the tires, stoppers and service are from yesterday ~ oh yeh and it has one of those automatic thingy's ... in your case, we have that no-sale green thing going on, 41k and you have that whack it yourself deal - your saving grace is the miles and your in the Broncos area of the country ...
Trade side, in and around the ultra high $11's short $12's, "might" find a dealer that will drop a little more if it's ultra clean, super nice and it needs -0- ......... ;-}
Terry.
There are some misguided people who think the Japan built cars are in some way "better" than the U.S. cars but that's pure bull.
Accident-free; minor dinks; mechanically sound; only non-working feature is radio station/clock display.

Thank you.

I went out car shopping with my mother a couple months back, and we were looking at Japanese 4 door sedans. Everything that was built domestically feel nearly as refined or well laid out as everything that was built in Japan, espescially the interiors. However, I suspect that might be more of an issue of where it was designed rather than assembled.
1995 Acura Integra LS Special Edition hatchback
dark green, tan leather, automatic
power windows/locks/sunroof, a/c, cassette, ABS
factory alloys with recent Michelins
31k miles!!
She's about to get the 30k service
It's had one big smack but repaired nicely
no real issues, interior clean and fresh, paint great save for a few small chips, driven mostly locally by the lone owner, an older woman, so not raced, slammed, modified or abused.
I'm thinking this might be a better sell than trade, mostly because of its age, but I also think the Honda dealer would probably be happy to have it. Whaddya think?
Seriously, we've heard about this puppy before... non?

EDIT:
Never mind, here's your answer:
....... I'm assuming it's an auto ..?
Interesting little vehicle, it's got ALL the stuff and it has No miles, if the work was done "right", looks great, everything fits, deep sneakers .. then trade side, she should be seeing the the mid $4's, "could" maybe might get into the low low low $5's ..
Me personally, (unless the paint and repair was done by Attilla the Hun) I wouldn't waste my time, it would go straight to Retail Rd ... Great Ad, superb detail, $7,900 *asking* and away it goes at the first $6,9/$7,5, it should last about 64 minutes ...
Let me know on this one, I will be interested on what the other dealers say ...
Terry.
My apologies again. You're a great help!

Anyway we have some miles, 4wd, slider, color is good for the area, tires are ho-hum ... whats gonna kill this little dude is a few things: it's a 2dr for starters and the miles are stiff, not bad for the year but there is a Kazillion Exploders out there with 100/125/150K, remember Ford has been making these since Jesus was a baby, so your competition is the 50/75kers ..
If we don't have any repaint, no terrorist interior and all the service is done right .. then trade side, in and around the low to high $3's depending on the dealer, "might" see the low low low low low low $4's if this deal is like new and needs -0- ........... if not, start deducting.

Her Jeep was a different story. I could clearly tell the frame was buckled under, yet the insurance company still said they could fix it. But luckily as they got in to the work, they eventually totalled out the vehicle.
.
Some things I learned and definately recommend:
- Your own insurance company will screw you over just as easily as the next.
- Insist on OEM parts. They were going to use cheap sheet metal from a local stamping company for my Jeep until I insisted OEM parts only.
- Do not sign anything until it is 100% fixed to your satisfaction, which should be several months of driving after you finally pick it up.
- Get everything in writing so they can't change their story later on.
- Be VERY VERY persistent. Make sure they understand you expect everything fixed 100% to your satisfaction.
.
Judging from what you've said already, you have a long sad road ahead of you and will get hardly anything on a trade. Good luck, keep us informed.
1.) Is everyone ok.?
2.) Someone picked the wrong body shop, but that's yesterdays news.
3.) Get yourself a list and "methodically" pick thru the vehicle from the bow to the stern (front and back) so you should be there about 30 minutes before anyone shows up, this way you can take your time .. the vehicle should be washed so you can see the difference in the paint and repair, dust/dirt can hide alot of stuff - and be looked at in the shade and the direct sun .. things like overspray, new parts, fill, body putty, *non-OEM parts* needs to be looked at and/or changed out ... there is a bunch of stuff the layman won't see and the ins co. probably want's to get this one over with, so you have to be prepared with facts, not that it shakes at 15 mph and the color doesn't match by the rear window ....
Mathias has a copy of "what to look for" and maybe he can drop it off and give you an idea of where to start, also I would recommend taking another pro with you (even if you have to pay him a few hundred) to take a real close "look see" because you need to get it fixed right, or you will screwing with it for the next 6/15 months, bit by bit .......
Bummer,

That Focus I looked at the other day had paint runs so bad on the hood I didn't need to look any further. Of course I did and was stunned that they would put a car like that back on the road. I'm sure it wasn't the bad of a wreck, but they didn't fix the stuctural problems.......that car is not safe in my book, but oh well, what do I know. I just wish they had told me about the title BEFORE I drove it, wouldn't have wasted my time. Nice car though, drove out great, but no thanks.
I know if I traded a clean titled truck for a car with a reconstruct title Terry, Mathais, and a few others would kick my butt into the next millenium.
I am wishing/planning to buy the above infiniti around Aug-Sep, just started looking around. I can have a very trusted used dealer (client of my father-in-law's accounting firm) get it from the auction and sell it to me at cost. But it all depends on the actual cost and my budget that time, in other words can I afford it, LOL.
So what is your assessment, for both regular and the "t" one. How much more is "t" going for.
Also, just for fun, the Nav one's??
I am in Dallas/FW area, close to Manhime's in FW, but probably will get the car from Dallas area cs dealer is in Dallas.
Thanks for the great service, you rock :}
Thankfully my kids were not in the car at the time of the accident, I was fine. How do I know about OEM parts and what about parts listed as receclyed, I saw a few of those. I called the Ins co adjuster back out to the body shop today, and he and the shop test drove it and said they couldn't feel the swaying. They are having the alignment checked but thats all. They were great about the painting issues and even brought up some more detail items I didn't catch, but it seems like they missed the big picture. I also asked about having the driver seat belt replaced, on a friends advice, but they said it was not necessary since the air-bags didn't deploy. Needless to say, I will trade this car as soon as I can get it fixed, but it will still look awful and I doubt a can even pay off my trade. Do you know anything about diminished value?
Thanks for your help.
