I have a 2003 Mini Cooper, 5 speed, Indi Blue (top is body color), premium package, cold weather package and sport package. (options in those packages include -- automatic climate control, Dynamic stability control, panoramic sunroof, spoiler, heated seats, heated mirrors, fog lights, sport seats). Seats are default pleather.
Current milege 20,500.
Location: upstate (Albany) NY area
Condition:
tires at 50 - 60%
body has one small scratch (may be buffable -- about 1 inch long on passengers side) and one small ding (very small as well -- smaller than a pencil eraser around) on the passenger side door
Interior is in excellant condition
What's going to be my trade in value?
Or more importantly what should I shoot for as the difference on a new BMW 325i with premium package, leather seats, autostick and nav (list=34500 or so)?
Thanks!

So were movin' on up huh.? .. 03 Mini, we have the roof, 20k, cold package, handshaker, sport pack and the rubber is ho-hum .. ya know the deal, no uh oh it's Maaco, trade side, in and around the high $17's, low/mid $18's depending on the dealer ... the 04 325 should be bought for "around" invoice, then minus the Mini .......
Let me know .....!

Need a trade-in value for my uncle who is looking at new Highlanders.
=============================
Sounds like it could be a nice one .. right color combo for the area, 4wd, new rubber, low low miles, no rack, interior has the "Hollywood hillbilly" look and no meteorite hits ... trade side, in and around the $14ish range, depending on the dealer low/mid $14's, if you can get the raccoon smell out you "might" get a dealer to mosey on up to the tall $14's .....

Base 04 Leon SE, 16k, wonderful and exciting "blue", auto, crankers, dead doors and $5,200 of Wham.! ... Absolutely, I would be all over them like a cheap suit .. it's gotta have frame damage, if not (almost impossible) it's going to be worth in and around the $4ish range come trade side the day it comes out of the body shop .. tell them to replace it, ones like yours can be bought all day long for the $7,5ish range .. remember, body shops Wants the biz, they can fix Anything, just ask them ............
No-way Jose .. get some pictures, get a pro to look at it on a lift .. what happens is, body shops will get into a "tear down" On purpose, and will convince the insurance company they have already ordered parts (which can be returned) ins guy "thinks" oh, they have already $2,500 invested, etc, etc .... Detroit Salvage would "probably" "might" put $1,500 in it on a salvage, insurance pays you "lets say" $8,0, they get back $1,500ish, $6,500 spent ...... it's a friggin' Leon, not a Lexus .. stand your ground.!

EDIT: Sorry man, I went through Sturgis on "THE" weekend in 1997; I don't think I ever quite recovered. Good Lord...
BUT
Just out of curiosity, where do I stand on my current rig for trade-in and private sale?
2002 Excursion Limited Ultimate
Black
7.3L Powerstroke Diesel
37,700 miles
Leather
Factory Wood Inserts
Limited Premiere Package (makes the outside mono-color Black and gives the leather seats a two-tone color)
Homelink
Trailer-Tow Mirrors
Reverse Sensing System
Heated Front Seats
6-Disc In-Dash CD Changer
Rear Air
Interior is in near perfect condition with the front drivers seat leather showing some wear (not dirty, just like its been sat in day-in and day-out)
The exterior is also in great shape with a couple minor scratches and a small ding on the front hood. 4 months after I got the truck we were in a minor accident where another Superduty Truck going in the opposite direction ripped off our trailer-tow mirror with his TT mirror. No body damage, but the mirror had to be replaced.
What do you say oh great one?
AS
Yikes.
Funny thing is, they don't sell all that well new. Goes to show what a reputation is worth...
Compare that to an '01 Audi A6 with the same miles... ouch.
BTW, Thanks for all the suggestions. So far, I think the Volvo has promise. MAYBE the Maxima, but they're very thin on the ground around here. I'm thinking the Solara and Accord coupe merit a look, value-wise, and they're just a little "different".
Thanks,
-Mathias
Terry, thanks for your help and I will let you know what transpires.

... as a matter of fact, yeah ..! .. actually it's a Yamaha Road Star Silverado, and I'm borrowing the money from the paperboy ..
Were you really there in 97 .? .. we went there last year on the way to Alaska and only had a chance to spend a day there .. fascinating, it's a l-i-t-t-l-e different than Daytona bike week .l.o.l...
Terry.
You can tell when it's Sturgis time, no matter where in the country you are...just look for either large groups of Harleys loaded down with sleeping bags, etc, or pristine pickups pulling very impressive trailers.
Your right, 10 year old vans pulling 10 year old bikes, Mom's and Dad's loaded up the Gran-Dad and all their gear, riding .. then of course you have the Yukons and the Ford Supercrew HD's pulling the Fat daddy customs on their Fat daddy rigs, lets not forget the Prevosts homes towing anything and everything ...............
Only in America, you gotta love it .....!

I'll answer this one until the great one staggers back .. good description, all except for that 2WD/4WD thing ... remind me to kill you later .. I'm "assuming" it's 2WD ..... uggghhh.
Miles are low for the year, Quads.?, mirror loss-no biggie if it was fixed right, we have the too many carbs drivers seat, the Big package, Dsl, back-up beep beep, bun warmers, tow pack, hot and cold running breeze, big tunes and you say it's pretty nice ... if the rubber is deep, service from yesterday, no repaints .. trade side - depending on where you live, in and around the $24/$25ish range, this ain't no punk, they do get money for those 7.3's .... down Retail Rd, $29,5 *asking* and wave goodbye at the first $28/$29,0 .......
Good luck and let me know ..
Terry.
It is a 4WD with tires that are about a month old because they were replaced under a Ford-Firestone recall. No quad seating, because we thought we might need that extra seat and it turns out it was a good choice.
It also has the Limited Slip thing going on if that makes much difference.
Thanks again.

dont get me wrong, i love the accord...still plan on getting one in the next year or 2...but for the 4-cyl models, the altima is a better car, all-around.
And don't come out until I say so ~ No soup for You ...!!
Oh great, now it's a 4x4 with new sneaks .. the good news is it's worth in and around the $27/$28ish zipcode, depending on where you live - or is that another state secret.? ... down Retail Rd, $32,900 *asking* and blow it out for $31,5/$32,5 .......

He traded it on an '04 Highlander Limited 4X4 last night...
MSRP: $35,867
Invoice around $31,800 minus $750 rebate.
Paid: The trade plus $15,050. The only addition to that is sales tax.
So, I figure at "dealer cost" of $31,050 (I know, who knows?), then they stepped up at $16K for his trade... Probably some dealer incentives we don't know about, but it looks like he got a pretty good deal with a little coaching from me and some good advice from you. This was at the second dealer in town, as the first one wouldn't hit his number.
Terry: thanks again for all the help... Put me on the beer list, cause I owe you another one.

P.S.: Don't them boys up in Sturgis look down their nose at those Yamahas a little bit?

Still thinking about it though, because the new ones are significantly more expensive then this one was when I got it (to the tune of $3k or so more)
Will let you know what I decide.

P.S. Philly Area
It does NOT have a moon roof. It does have a factory CD changer, Alpine system, heated seats, and sport suspension.
The exterior does not have any dents or dings. However, the hood does have several small chips from road debris. The paint is still glossy, no fading.
The interior is absolutely perfect, no wearing or scratching of the leather.
The car has 89,000 miles. It has never been in a wreck or required any repairs. As far as I know, it does not have any mechanical problems.
I imagine the dealer would want to replace the tires prior to sale. It has an unused 17" Firehawk spare tire. The windshield has a small crack that would require replacing.
Could I please get a rough estimate on the trade-value, if I do not replace the tires or windshield?
Thanks,
Jason
Here's my situation: Shopping for an 04 Accord or Camry sedan and pondering what to do with my 95 T-Bird LX
Details:
-73000 one-owner miles
-Clean exterior except for a few minor stone chips
-Aquatred 3 tires with about 38000 miles
-3.8L V-6
-Factory AM/FM/cassette
-Runs good, no head gasket or tranny issues
-Non-smoker owner, interior nearly spotless
-Location: Let's say somewhere downwind of the Great Lakes in upstate NY
-Dark red exterior/gray cloth interior
-No accidents
I know from past experience that it's tough to get rid of a rear-drive car like this with winter approaching. What do you think my prospects are if I trade? Grim? I know, I should sell it myself but I don't know if I can put up with all the weirdos coming out to the house etc.
Thanks for any enlightenment.
Detail it up nice, take out a nice ad - you have a good start with your description - use that for your ad - maybe $5,995 obo?
It's a real money (retail) $3500-4000 car, but don't be offended at getting offered $1500-2000 on trade, because it's going right to the wholesaler.
Terry.
**P.S.: Don't them boys up in Sturgis look down their nose at those Yamahas a little bit?**
.l.o.l.. there will be tons of everything from Bimmers to Victorys there, actually I have 2 HD's, but this will be 500 mile run (long for me) and I want my comfort .........
Terry.
Good description, thanks ... from the home of Laverne and Shirley we have a 00 LS V8 with 90k (ouch.!) black with tan guts, combo is good for the area, no slider (it's 00, so cd is in the glove.? changed in April production) and we have the bun warmers ....
What can I say, we need new sneakers and the looker is cracked, we have bunches of miles and no slider .. if the serivice is 100%, no paint by numbers .. then trade side, in and around the mid/tall $8's, "maybe" might get lucky and get a dealer to go over the top and drop the low low low low low $9's in it, maybe - this poor thing needs some stuff ...........
Terry.
Regards,
Jason
Yeah.. with a trade, you never know the "real" figure... My uncle has one thing going for him, though... He makes every deal on the "difference". Of course, he likes round numbers as well... That $15,050 difference was plus tax and registration....
"Exactly $17K and not a penny more"
He writes a check for that, and he's gone... No chance of funny addition that way.
Thanks again for the help.. you are the best!!

What is wholesale and retail on this one?
2002 Fleetwood Coleman Laredo 10' popup camper, has a furnace, spare tire, but no water heater, 2 burner stove, fridge, stuff like that. Its clean and seems in good shape.
Dealer says they paid $5k for it (my BS flag was flying) and are asking $5800. Best I can tell retail is $5660, I'm thinking $4k/$4.5k. The lady tried to tell me that they could sell it for $7500 all day long in the spring, but since its end of season they will let it go for a *steal* at $5800. They have had it about 2 weeks I think, took it in on trade.
BTW, there are NO other used popups for sale right now unless you count the 80's models in the $600/$1k range (not what we want). Thankfully we don't NEED something right now, just looking for a deal so we can get this over with and have something for next summer.
If we don't find something this fall we will drive out in the spring and buy something where people are SANE on prices.
Given that it's rust-free and everything (including AC) works pretty well, I might just buy the new car clean deal and try my best on a private sale. (Yeah, how weird can the prospective buyers be?) :-)
BW
Additionally, the Altima's interior may be improved but it's still no Accord. One deal killer for me with the Altima is the shoddy-looking installation of the XM radio antenna.
I like my way of thinking the best - which is "don't go anywhere near Sturgis". LOL
But I was never a "biker" anyway. I put 75K miles on 3 bikes in California over 5 years COMMUTING TO WORK.
Example:
2003 Toyota Camry LE/SE/XLE
4 cylinder automatic
Silver exterior/gray interior
Options: Alloy wheels, sunroof, power seat, leather, CD
Exterior: Light scratch on bumper, etc
Interior:
And on behalf of Terry, let me say "yeeeooooww"
black over gray cloth
52k 6cyl 4sp automatic
usual pwr stuff, cruise, ac, no roof
located in Kazachstan :-)
Buddy of mine is looking at it from a local Chevy dealer. Asking $11,5 and willing to write up at $10,500.
Strikes me as about $1k too much, even retail, but try and find one of these with low miles...
-Mathias
2003 Camry LE
4 cylinder automatic
Silver with grey cloth interior
Options: Power seats and CD player
Exterior: light scratch on left passenger door
37k miles
Also, it has keyless entry and trunk remote and alarm system
