Dealer might have the super tall $19's, low/mid $20's rolling around it, add a this and that, no CPO(?) and it might hit the table at the $21ish figure ... the auto is good on these and will sell well down the road, the miles are super low and definitely the right color ... I bet the $23ish figure would get this into your driveway, properly negotiated of course ....................

This is my current commuter (2nd) car ... I'm looking to go back to one car for awhile.
1994 Ford Thunderbird LX
4.6L V8
4 sp Auto
Green
Leather, in good condition still
Automatic Climate Control
No sunroof
AC blows cold
some door dings, nothing major, no big dents.
Paint is still good, no oxidation
129,xxx miles
Everything works
All records since new
Newer Yokohama's have about 18K on them.
Brand new rear rotors
SF Bay Area
I'm the 2nd owner:
The previous owner was a aircraft owner, and he took excellent care of the car ... and has records of every oil change, and even records of every fillup!!
What do think it would fetch on a private sale? I think it would make a great car for somebody to drive to BART every day ...
I actually got a letter from my dealership last week saying that they're opening a Certified Pre-Owned Honda Center next to their new car showroom and they would either buy my car back or gladly except it as a trade-in for a new Honda. I took the car there and the Used Car manager told me he'd give me $14K for the car. So you're right on the money as usual.
I don't want to sell my Prelude as I'd have to spend a lot more money (BMW) to get something that handles and performs as well. But I figured if they made me an offer I couldn't refuse that I'd part ways with my wonderful car.
Before I went I did a quick search on the Honda site of CPO Preludes with 5 speeds and found them selling for anywhere from $16.9 to $20.9 with similar mileage. There was an SH with almost 60K selling for $19,999. The dealer says that car's going to be sitting for a while. He said $17K is the right retail price for my car.
2001 Prelude Type SH, 2022 Highlander XLE AWD, 2025 Camry SE AWD
Actually, I'd argue that's what they're NOT selling for :-)
But no doubt, the "Honda Foreplay" brings the moon on the used side...
-Mathias
Thanks very much for the info.--greatly appreciated. I think it might have the CPO.
Last time I bought a BMW at that dealer, it had a crazy price on it in Aug. I think. Was still there in Dec.; & I got a great deal on it.
I'll post again if I get the Z3,
thanks again.
How about a 2002 TL Base model, 39800 miles, non-navi, rear spoiler, all records, no damage outside or in-never been wrecked, factory paint intact. New tires at 32k all around. Interior is spotless, leather looks great, non-smoking owner, interior is tan, exterior is pearl white. Paint is spotless, no door dings, scratches or nicks. All service records, shows as close to a new car as an 2002 can. Engine is also detailed, and while most dealers don't care, I use only Mobil 1 synthetic.
Car is in central N.C.
Interested to see the thoughts on this one..........
Thanks in advance,
ncelk
Thanks! You rock!
Sorry about that one..............
Anyway, while I was back home I went car shopping with Mom. Her Accord has become, shall we say, a fully depreciated asset, and it's time for her to upgrade. She drove my Volvo and is now hooked on Swedish seats.
Anyway, the Volvo dealer didn't have anything she liked (in her and dad's price range, anyway,) but I was wondering what a fair retail price for this would be:
2001 Saab 9-5 SE wagon
31,000 miles; of course, being an SE, it's a V6 auto. Pretty much all the options except the ventilated seats. Black over sand leather, OnStar, auto climate control, yada yada. Currently parked at a VW/BMW/Pontiac/Mazda joint in Nashua, NH.
What sayeth the Oracle?
BTW, the S70 performed flawlessly on the trip. Put 3k on in one week, which I realize is chump change for Jolie. :-)
Thanks, Terry!

If it wasn't for guys like you, I would be writing this in arabic with my left hand .. Thank You.!
We have a 02 4dr Grand Am with tiny little miles, we have the auto and the cruisamatic and no power pack, I'm guessing this is the 4 banger - right.? ...
If it's clean, no hits no runs no errors, no mortar hits on the interior .. depending on the dealer, trade side, in and around the super tall $6's low/mid $7's .. since this dude has been sitting, make sure you put a nice clean and shine on it before you get some dealer trade figures, especially import dealers, they will want to pick it apart ... also you "might" consider a little trip down Retail Rd, $9,900 *asking* and push it out the hangar door for the first $8,5/$9,5 ............
Happy hunting and let me know what happens, I'm more than happy to help.!

The old man is firing this one down retail road, I asked him what the dealer offered him on trade and he said, "son, what the dealer would offer me for this piece wouldn't even put a new set of tires on her, so I didn't even ask".
The problem is they think someone is going to give them $6,500-$7,000 for it, I'd like to be able to tell them about this guy Terry and his funny ideas about cars...
If you could give me a hand in educating the old man, I'd owe you one. Thanks a million!

In and around Raleigh we have a 02 TL with 40k, we have the tan guts with the white pearl, we have new rubber 8 klicks ago, no smoke, no kisses no Wal-mart warlords, you make it sound nice and clean, if so .. trade side, in and around the ultra super tall $16's, low/mid $17's depending on the dealer, the miles hold this one back a tinge, but still a nice vehicle .......................

Buying new Honda pilot EX 27,800 with trade in and $2500 cash down 4.25% financing.
Is this a good offer for my trade in. I know miles are high but offer for pilot seems fair.
Help me out terry, pass on your wisdom
The trade: 2002 Kia Sedona, 45,500 miles, EX, Leather, Moon Roof, two tone (Green and tan), automatic (of course), wood trim, etc.....
Condition: good except the following -- small ding on passenger side door, a few small paint chips on the front, a small rock hole in the lower level cowling (front -- rock went through it). Cleans up pretty well.
Location: 12054 (just kidding) upstate NY (Albany/Schenectady/Troy).
The target: VW Passat Wagon GLX 4motion (new). Standard package.
The money:
1,000 owner loyalty on the VW (hey, I bought one from the very same dealer two weeks ago -- should count for something).
3,000 VW Cash on the Passat per Edmunds
Edmunds target of 31,000 or so on a car with a retail of 34,000 or so.
My target should be....?
Initial offer from me was 13k in cash plus my van (I'm assuming mine's worth 12k and we'll bargain up from their -- hoping not to insult but also hoping to get the best possible).
Should be an easy dealer sale -- our credit is usually pretty good and the only reason we'll let the dealer finance is because it's a contingency for the 1,000 owner loyalty (usually walk in with check from credit union or write a home equity check).
End of the month, end of the model year -- what thinks the great guru? Where's the sweet spot?
Looking to sell or trade:
2000 Land Rover Discovery SD
47,000 miles
Two small door dings
Interior excellent
Towing package
Sunroof
Power seats
Thanks in advance!
=======================================
Here we go again .. Yikes .! no 3rd seat, no leather, wheres the good news .?
Miles are low for the year, the interior looks ok, we got a little tow pack going on, slider ... if ~ the service is from last month and the rubber is from the month before, no repaints and were not using the back for any KFC storage from the 4th of July .. then trade side, in and around the mid to tall $11's, might "maybe" find a dealer to trip over his golf clubs and drop the low low low low low low $12's in it .. if it needs stuff, start deducting .......
Let me know which way the wind blows ............

It's a 00 lwb Tana' with 110,000 big klicks and we don't have any power locks .. -And- he's lookin to get $6,5/$7,000 for it, is that American money.? .. where's he running the ad, Albania ?
Hmmm, you didn't notice any of those small funny little cigarettes in the ashtrays, did you.? .. does he have this constant urge to eat anything laying loose.?
"If" ~ it's super nice, super clean, looks/feels/drives like 50k, rubber from yesterday, no repaints, K-mart collisions and it needs -0- .. then trade side, it's probably worth in and around the mid/tall $3's, could "maybe" find a dealer that just tripped over his golf clubs and is squinting thru those funny little 3D glasses and drops the looooow $4's in it ....... it's a $5,500 vehicle down Retail Rd *asking*, then grab whatever is dropped his way ......
Anyway, I have stayed at the Amway hotel there a few times, very nice, and it's a nice town ........

In a Acura.?!? .. you need to tell the Mrs. not to drive to Atlanta in Drive 1 .... whats the Vin#.?
If it's all there, then trade side .. in and around the super tall $19's low $20ish figure, the only thing that holds it back is the miles ..... In a Acura.?!?
Terry.
6-speed manual
36,000 miles
Black exterior/dark gray cloth interior
No sunroof, power windows, power locks, cruise, CD changer, keyless, wheels .. typical Benz stuff.
Exterior: rear right quarter has been repainted, couple of 6" surface scratches on left quarter, some rock chips on hood, *otherwise* it's clean outside.
Interior: Spotless, non-smoker, no Mcdonalds souveniers
What's this worth in Atlanta?
Oh yeah ... what about this too?
1995 Acura Integra LS hatch
Silver exterior/black cloth interior
143,000 miles
Manual transmission
Sunroof, spoiler, power windows, locks, etc
Decent outside but it's been hit and has some possible frame damage up front. Some small scratches and dings throughout.
Interior needs a good cleaning but is smoke free and stain free.
As always, thanks for your time.

First time we caught it on our way to grocery store and it did not completely fail- just made weird noises and did not go over 40.
And you'd like this- it is the second one in my family: first one was 2002 3.2TL that failed at 17K(still have it with 19K miles).
Lovely! No problem with 1994 Accord (60K) and 2000 Lexus RX (46K). We are looking at 20K 2002 LX470 and LS430 now. BTW- both Acura cars were bought new. Go figure...
Wife wants to go to the lawyer but I do not believe we can win...
Retired Navy Chief here in Norfolk VA. I am going to trade in my 2003 Indie Blue with black roof/mirrors and bonnet stripes. Sport Seats, Premium Package, 17,660 miles and near perfect condition. The Ford dealer(Looking at getting a Explorer) told me to check KBB and it says 18,100 so I'm assumming thats what he's going to give me for it. The Local Mini Dealer has zero mini's on the lot. Whats your take on the value and what should I expect.

One thing to consider (since hubby is reported to be 6' 6"), is I had headroom issues when I sat in a new one (pretty much my head was plastered on the roof), though the one I tried had a moonroof, and I can't swear that the seat was all the way down.
Neat cars though, even if the reliability can be somewhat spotty.
And, skip the Acura. It will make yo miss the Civic you had for 1 day.
You really are a masochist, aren't you?
