Didn't think too many dealers did this anymore. Guess they figured on such a new car, if they checked it out (to make sure it wasn't a wreck), they wouldn't have much exposure. It's probably perfectly legal the way they do it anyway.

1. Do you have the means to just buy the Pathy outright, & get off the "car payment treadmill"? Pathfinders are pretty reliable. Also, "I think" it's sometimes possible to negotiate the buyout price on a leased vehicle. 2. You can Buy perfectly fine used vehicles for the $6K of your down payment...........going from lease, to lease; & always having payments, is not usually a winning proposition......
Check out Sycamore Chevrolet, the dealer website is at www.sycamorechevy.com. Look at cars over 10k. I haven't gone it yet, but the dealer is on my home to work route so I could stop by pretty easily. $27.5k would bring it in range of an '05 325i w/ sport and heated front seats, but no warranty and new car feel. I should try to go test drive it this week.

1) What color should I choose to make it easier to sell?
2) What's a fair price that I should expect to get for this car?
3) Should I sell to a dealer, put an newspaper ad, or ebay?

Interior is excellent (black leather) weathertech floor mats, original mats unused and in storage.
Exterior is silver paint is in very good shape, shines like day one. Car has always been garage parked. One owner bought new.
One ding behind drivers side door - sometimes you see it, sometimes you don't. No paint damage just a car door ding. Couple marks on the nose (from small stones etc). Rear lower bumper has three small marks/scrapes (center under license plate) from bumper parking. Not so obvious but can be seen on close inspection.
Original tires, rotated by dealer on honda suggested schedule.
All maintainence (oil changes/tranny flush/air filter, etc) done through Honda service - again followed schedule set by Honda.
Rear breaks done a month ago.
Transmission replaced under warrenty.
All records available.
Car is clean. No accidents/insurance claims/repaints.

Oooh how exciting, we got that pretty light green thing going on .. the only folks that buy that color are the people that make the Target commercials ..l.o.l....
Anyhoo ......... it's a 00 GLS VW with 35,000 tiny miles, it's light green, we got the auto thing, it's light green, maybe a slider, it's light green .... if the paint is all there, no rust, no battles at the Wal-mart, no Maaco, the service is 110% and it looks/drives and feels like an 04 .. then dealers will drop the super tall $7's, low/mid $8's in it ....... $9,500 on the Retail side ..? - yep sounds about right, $9,900 *asking* and $9,500 finds a new home --- even with that Whacked color ..............

Lets see here ... the color is good for the area, we have tiny miles, we have all the tech stuff and the chromee's .... no paint battles, no Swirlomatic car washes, no 350lb drivers, just a nice one with a few Itsy Bitsy tiny deals that will buff out and the service is up to date.? .. these things still pull some serious money, even with the new M35/45 out and being Very Well received (to say the least) .... trade side, in and around the tall $25ish range, maybe the low low low low low $26ish figure depending on the deal and the cost of the pack ...........

Depending on the dealer (and it's as clean as you think it is) trade side: in and around the mid/tall $10's, might maybe "could" get a dealer to wander into the low low low low low low low $11's if it's jam-up perfect and it glows in the dark, maybe ...... down Retail Rd, super detail, big Fat daddy Ad in the big paper and $13,900 *asking* and cut it loose for the first $12,5/$13,5 ..... the tall miles can suck the life right out of it, so park the ego .....

Thanks,

Anyway, If I did decide to splurge, what could I expect (retail/trade) on my current ride (and one reason I am considering it is they still seem to be a hot ticket, and you never see them used):
2005 Scion tC.
Flint mica (kinda dark charcoal), charcoal interior (only choice).
5 speed handshaker
All the standard stuff, only extras are the deluxe mats and wheel locks.
Only 6,000 miles, looks great in/out, only a couple of small scratches on the fender that can probably be buffed out (mostly).
No hits/runs/errors. Looks new, because darn it, it practically is!
So, either slap me back to reality, or push me over the edge..

My boss has asked for my opinions regarding his new car deal; please advise (make sure I am giving him good advice!) He just got a small boat and his truck doesn't have the motor or the wheelbase to tow it comfortably. We are in Wilmington, NC.
His trade:
2004 Jeep Wrangler SE (4-cyl, handshaker, no options, nothing; no air, no cruise, no backseat...)
Light khaki with tan top
6,000 (six thousand) miles
Like new condition inside and out; he drove this to work and back under the garage.
Had bigger tires on it since just after he bought it, so the stockers which will be put back on to trade are like new, minimal wear.
He has this paid off already.

He's already been to the friendly neighborhood Jeep store and they offered him $12,000 in trade against $20,850 for the demo, before TTL and DOC (or dealer over charge!) I think the trade value is really fair, but I'm not sure if he can do better on the new one. I think it sounds pretty fair to everyone.

Again, in very nice overall shape. Tires are brand new, but they are Goodyear Eagle LS's. Oops.
Another possibility is a new 2004, still in the wrapper, Silverstone over black, that has been sitting on a lot for a few months. They also have a new '05 that is a clone. Isell tells me that there would be no Honda help on this one.
Talked numbers on the first one. I told them I really wasn't interested in trading my '94 300ZX Convertible that you previously pegged at 5-6 trade, high 9's asking on retail road. But since I'd have to sell mine first, they were eager to help me out of it. We didn't write any numbers down, but we mumbled around a $16,000 difference. What do you think?

First off, I'm not Terry, nor do I play him on TV.
Second, I own a similar truck and recently tried to trade it (don't look Terry). First dealer offered me $22k and said it was a wholesale only piece since they don't want a Nissan on the lot. Second dealer (300 miles away) ACVed it at $25k and the salemen where drooling waiting to play with the Titan when it came in on trade. Both dealerships were GMC dealers. I couldn't stomach the loss so I kept it, 'cides, I really like the truck, just wanted a 3/4 ton to pull my travel trailer with, but the Titan can keep doing it for a while longer.
My truck is a 2004 Titan CC 4x4 LE, white/grey, leather, RF stereo, utility bed pkg (standard on LE), Big Tow pkg, and 8k miles. The truck is immaculate, no hits, runs, or errors. Very nice truck, still smells new.
So, that said I think the dealer is working hard to earn your business and $23,5 is all da money and a bag of chips.
Remember, I'm not Terry, nor do I play him on TV, so we'll see what DA MAN has to say when he finishes his basket weaving class or whatever it is he does outside of Edmunds. :P

Anywaaaaay ....... In Baltimore, the home of the Ravens .. how many players are in prison this year .?
It's a 04 Nissan Titan SE 4x4 .. we got some quads and the UT pack and we have 17,000 big miles ....... if this dude is super nice, no french fry invasions, a super clean bed, the paint has 10 coats of Mag 26, only driven on Sundays, never seen salt or snow, the service done every 2,500 miles, always covered by a 200 year old Amish blanket and it's never been in a Wal Mart parking lot ... then trade side, in and around the mid/high $21ish range, maybe the low low $22ish range .. the tall miles and the super poor reliabilty on the Titans are not your friend here ...
$23,500.?!? .. Bud, thats aaaaall the money, the Big Kahuna, the whole Coma Se' Yama and the bag of chips .... "if" ~ you can get a dealer to give you $23,5 (real money) for an 04 17k 4x4 Titan SE crew cab this time of the year - then you need to be there, not reading this stupid thing .... dealers are only paying the $22ish range for the 5/7/9krs that glow in the dark .... $25,500.?? not in this lifetime, or the next ..l.o.l....

Awwww, come on Terry, you're no fun, lol. Only reason for thinking about trading the PITA was to get something that wouldn't overheat the tranny everytime we tow that itty bitty TT that we have. I couldn't stomach the loss though, they offered $25k ACV, truck stickered at $36,560 (course I didn't pay that for it ;-) ). Gonna wait a year, pay the lease waaayyyyy ahead and then see about turning it in early. Then I'm gonna get something that won't live in the shop.
Its getting bad, lol, I walked in there yesterday and the GM ran for cover, the service advisor said "uh oh, what broke this time?", and the tech who always works on my truck said "gimme $1000 and you will never see that truck again" LOL

Thanks in advance for your help, I'm going to be ok on negotiating a price for a new vehicle but the trade-in part of it has me nervous.

And then, *Second dealer (300 miles away) ACVed it at $25k and the salemen where drooling waiting to play with the Titan when it came in on trade.*
I know you love (?) this Titan, but if it were me, I'd be camped out at the dealer (Chevy?) who offered you $25K. It sounds like even a 2 y.o. Chevy P/U or Tahoe might be more reliable. Just my 2 cents......good luck!
To me, when I am looking at a car, a noticeable nick = cracked windshield.
