Clarification: The engine is not "remanufactured" or rebuilt. It is actually a brand new new factory built engine. But I see your point regarding interpretations of why it needed a new engine. However I have all the service records and the car can be fully examined to show that it has not been abused.
Unfortunately it is a SAAB and the SAAB approach to warantee repair, in my experience, is if its seems broke, well then just replace it. For example I have three records over one week for "right front end rattles on bumpy roads". First time:"Tightened strut bolt - NC". Second time: "tightened strut bolt - NC". Third time? "replace struts, mounts and hardware - $1800 to warantee company... car had 35 K miles at the time, no suspension problems that I could tell, just an irritating rattle over bumps.. Definitely fixed the problem tho'.
... CPO..? .. Bimmer dealer/private sale ..? ... depending on the color, history and the service .. $29 sounds like a very good deal .......

**Men, we don't read instructions** ....l..o..l... no kidding, the Mayor of New Orleans is a perfect example of that ........
Anywaaaaay ....... up there in Syracuse we have an 01 Impala LS, V6 ... "mint", as in Mint green..? .. there's no such thing as "mint" or "excellent" unless you're drivin' an 06 CLS 500 Benz with 900 miles ...... it's got 61k, we got the no-sale green thing going on, side balloons, we got some wheel action, we have some hydes, new round things, new stoppers and based on your description ~ it's in darn good shape ......
If this beauty is clean, no secret love affairs with Maaco and no science experiments in the interior ... then trade side, in and around the super tall $6's, low/mid $7's if it's as clean as you think it is .......... might not be a bad deal down Retail Rd .. super clean, Fat Daddy Ad in the big paper and: $9,495 *asking* and cut and run at the first Cash deal at $8,5/$8,9 .... these dudes are still pretty popular, I betcha you could see $8,9 (properly done) ...
Good luck and let me know what happens .............

Just went to the dealer last night and they offered $3,000 for the trade-in. Unfortunately they only had 1 CRV and it had a whole bunch of after-market stuff on it and we were waaaaaaayyyyy apart on the price so I'll be trying a dealer this weekend that I know has more inventory. Hopefully they make a similar trade-in offer.
As for the trans, unfortunately I am out of their "extra" warranty period in years and miles. I do think they should pay for it, but I never had it serviced at the dealership before and don't have receipts to prove I maintained it properly - though I tend to think that if the trans lasted THIS long, that could be enough proof but I'm sure they wouldn't go for that argument.
Thanks for all the responses.

Anyway, there are 2, both located near Albany NY:
1) 1993 Caddy Sedan de Ville. V8, 2 tone brown/tan, with tanish leather. Normally equipped I guess, no moonroof though. It does have some kind of basket wire wheels. Never hit, no rust (always been garaged, normally not driven in snow). AC just died, but assume that it will be fixed, otherwise in good shape.
Only 37K on this old mans car, so I guess not driven much at all. Maybe Lemko would want it??
2) 2005 Chevy Impala Beige/tan cloth. Base model, so I don't think it has any options to speak of. Only about 3 months old, with a whopping 1,500 miles on it now. Still smells new. I think he paid 17ish for it (employee pricing), so I imagine the cost per mile on this one is going to be steep.
As always, help is greatly appreciated

Not a CPO, I got it from one of those whole sale dealers to buys the trade-in's from bigger dealers. He said his margin was $750 on a $29,150 car which was OK?
I checked with the local BMW dealership and they gave the car a clean sheet as far as maintenance & service history goes. Carfax came back clean and it drives well. Its Sterling Grey with matching grey top.
Since nobody was able to give me an answer, I know you can. Here is the info:
We just bought a 2002 RX 300 and decided to sell our 2000 Sienna XLE. Can anyone give me an idea on what to ask? Here is the scoop:
Western burbs of Chicago
Mileage - 67350 - One-owner
Denin blue with grey leather, moon roof, roof rack, usual XLE features, replaced original 6-CD changer with JVC single CD, MP3 and XM ready
Excellent condition, non-smoker, gargaged, Mobil 1 oil/filter change every 4,500K, hand washed 90% of time (with annual Zaino clay-bar), newer brakes and rotors, about 35K on Yokohama Avid Tourings, all maintenance records. Had one minor parking lot incident, resulting in new rear bumper about 6 months after purchase. No dings or dents, some minor scratches. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
PS - Took it to CARMAX last night, they offered less than half of what they were asking for similar vehicle. Nice margin, huh?

Quick update on trading my 99 Expedition or 04 Tahoe (the Black beast SUV's in Atlanta): Didn't do anything. Figure that with gas at $3 -$4 a gallon for the stations that have it, no dealer would want to touch either of them right now.
BTW, Atlanta paper said today that 25% of metro stations are still out of at least one grade of gas, and that even with both major pipelines now operational, we can expect supply issues for at least a few weeks. I know neither car will be appreciating, but am hoping the current hysteria will die down in a few weeks.
Thanks again for all you do here, and especially what you did this weekend in LA.

No big deal ..... the only reason why I even went, the radio said the first 200 people would get a free dozen of the new Bridgestone Golf Tour B330 Golf Balls ..... they just kinda forgot to tell me they were 10 ft underwater .... hmm, would that be bait and switch.?
Anywaaay ...... we got this 00 Yota Sienna XLE sittin' in Chicago, it's got 68k, you know the previous owner, good color for the area, we got a slider, the rack, it's got some tunes, it's got a home, no smoke, proper service and cleaning ....... except for the bumper when new, if it's clean, nice and it drives/looks and feels like an 04 with 20k ... then trade side it worth in and around the mid/tall $8's, maybe the low low low low low $9's under the proper alignment of Mars and Saturn ........ down Retail Rd.? .. super clean, super Ad, super right and $11,495 *asking* and stagger and cry at the first $10/$10,5 ... but take it ..... what were you asking..?

What should I expect? Kelly says $6900 for good condition and NADA says $8625, but didn't ask for condition.
Is there a carmax near you? Find out what they will offer for that one.
Where is the good news? Oh, it is in decent shape and runs good with no major problems.
Now the bad news. Gas is $3.00 a gallon and it gets all of ~16mpg highway.
Big 142K miles on a 1999. It is not even a 4WD which would help value with winter coming in a short 3 months. No bank is going want to carry the note on a loan on it due to the miles.
I see a few 4WD versions of what you have with the same tall miles and ASKING prices of $6,900 to $8,900 right now at a few dealers near you. Only one 2WD listed with 150K at $5,900 asking. I cannot imagine a dealer wanting to put tall money in that one. It probably will be headed to the auction and wind up on a buy here pay here type of lot. No doubt the actual cash value is going to be a couple of thousand behind the asking prices.
Thanks.
I thought that they were only interested in cars with <70k miles on the odometer.
From my two or three experiences, I haven't found that Carmax's offers are any better than cash offers received from local dealers which I have approached. On occasion, they have been less.
I would shop it around.
What could I expect from a dealer, and from a private sale?

Mornin' Qb .......... soooo, it's a 03 Lincoln LS V8 with the Prem pack and 30k .... if it's got the slider, bun warmers, tunes, deep sneaks, chromee's and it has a clean history ... then it's worth the mid/tall $17's low low $18's come trade side, so it probably hits the table in the tall $18's .... the market is kinda funny on these, I'm only paying the $22/$23ish range for the 05's with all the junk and miles in the 9/11k range .......

Up in the NY area ....... we have a 00 Jakota Quad cab "sport" .. (auto.?) the miles are low for the year, it's got the 4.7 V8, it's a 4x4, almost a good color, power pack, no smoke, service has been pretty good and the rubber is almost newish ........ "except" for the pole battle - and a few tiny kisses, it sounds like it's in pretty good shape ~ if ~ we don't have any click click in the 4x4 ... trade side, in and around the low/mid $9's, might "maybe" get a dealer to stagger into the tall $9's if it's super clean and it needs -0- ......... the miles save this one ..... what numbers have you been seeing ...?
Terry.
I dunno whether you personally are high or not, but the price you're asking sure is. I've got an '03 CE -- which has almost all the LE stuff, like quad seating, CD player, etc.
I paid $22 for it new and got 0% for 3 years. (4 payments left -- and then never again. I hope).
Your van is 6 years old, with a fairly low 11k miles per year. There is no way that I would pay over $10 for it, and even that level, I'd probably just go new or buy something else. This is not to say that you won't get what Terry said, but asking $13 strikes me as nuts. The better half of that car's life is -o-v-e-r- .
For comparison, I bought an 81k '00 Villager Estate (Quest clone) earlier this year, and I paid $6,700. That's a price a cash buyer can usually pay... payments on a 6-year-old car are not a good idea, esp. if they stretch until the thing is 8, 9, or 10 years old.
But see what happens, you never know with Toyondas. Just be preparered to drop the price and then negotiate a lot. And do let us know; I like these vans and would really love to know what a nice example like yours brings.
FWIW, when I read your description, I thought about a quick trip to Chicago before I came to my senses... we don't need two of the silly things. It sounds nice.
