How often does a 760Li come through Manheim? I would pay $50k for an 03 fully loaded mint 760Li in a heartbeat :)

    Thanks for the info :)
  • british_roverbritish_rover Member Posts: 8,502
Nah you are ok because the first year is most of the depreciation. Miles are good too and seems like you bought it right.

Also you got the V8 which typically has better resale then the V12.

Hey while talking BMWS I have a 2004 Z4 with 13k miles and loaded, garaged and a weekend car. I am asking for 600.00 down and take over 11 payments on lease of 547.00/ month or sell for 31,900.00. Does that sound in line? It has warrenty and free maintenence until 50 k or 3 more years. I have it in auto trader. I would appreciate advice. Wayne

I'm not trying to be snarky, but 825 S.W.2d 284 seems to have a different interpretation

I don't want to get bogged down in a legal discussion, but Tomes v. Nationwide Ins. Co. is a simple contract case that deals with the interpretation of a specific provision of an insurance policy. The KY Court of Appeals held that the policy language did not require Nationwide to repair their insured's car with new parts. I assumed that you were dealing with the insurer of the other driver, and in that case the measure of damages is the difference in value before and after the accident. If you are dealing with your own insurer, the policy language will govern what you can recover.

Have you looked at a 1-or-2 year old Mazda6 wagon? They're really nice, we test drove and almost bought one last year. I was surprised how much leg room the back seat has. I'm 6'4" and I could acutally fit in the back seat.

There were 5 or 6 in the entire nation that went over the gavel @ Manheim.

Last year I looked at an '02 745i with 40K miles. BMW certified to 100K. Dealer was asking $44K but I had him down to $39K without much work. It was tempting but I decided to pass.
  • corvettecorvette Member Posts: 11,270
They haven't admitted fault yet, and indicated that it would be a while before they did, and recommended I open a claim with my own insurance.

Ah, nuts, I gave you the wrong citation for the case I was thinking of. Never mind! Thanks for the heads up though, and I apologize for turning this into a legal forum!

I'm thinking that all of the '02 and '03 7-series had their warranties extended to 6yr/100K miles..

Not sure of the why and when, but vsaxena leased one...

Something to keep in mind, if you are looking for a used one....

why trade it in if it is a weekend car? just buy whatever suv, it will be cheaper than trading in. unless it's a range rover. ;)

Interestingly enough (apparently confirmed that court case), I called my Nationwide agent last week to add a new vehicle and - bingo - he tried to sell me a rider that would pay for OEM body parts in the event of a collision.

I asked if it included diminished value protection and he say it did not.

It's getting harder to see exactly what value "regular" policies offer anymore.

You may want to check out www.tirekicking.net for tips on what to watch out for when you're looking to buy a used car. They also have a photo gallery with useful captions on how to spot if a car has been in a previous accident. Hope this helps!
  • corvettecorvette Member Posts: 11,270
My understanding is that you're probably not going to get language that includes diminished value protection on your own policy unless you live in a state that requires it. A likely exception would probably be if you go with a luxury insurer like Chubb, but I understand that the premiums on such a policy are sky-high.

I have 02 Lexus with all options (xenon, nav, levinson) except traction control. Live in DC/Baltimore area. Good car do major tranny issues that i've heard about.

It is Alabaster/Black. Purchased as Lexus CPO April 04. It has 58,000 miles.

Took to Carmax they said average condition with good options.
I think it between clean and average. Some bumper blemishes.

In interest of full disclosure it has been smoked in, and there was damage to the rear bumper by uninsured motorist.

All factory service done by dealer and car repaired at dealer.

I have paid the car off and am thinking that now is the time to do something.

I would like to trade at the Lexus dealer for an RX350 lease or on another cpo Lexus.

What can I expect??? I was thinking I should get 17000-18000 in trade for another Lexus, and about 19000-19500 for a private sale. Probably less for another car.

Am I crazy. I guess I might be to post a message so late.
    Thanks

Here's a bunch of "average" cars in that mileage range:

    08/10/06 DET METR Lease $16,500 56,836 Avg SILVER 6G A Yes
    08/24/06 MANHEIM Lease $15,200 57,644 Avg SILVER 6G A Yes
    09/01/06 MANHEIM Regular $15,400 57,648 Avg SILVER 6G Yes
    08/11/06 MANHEIM Lease $16,000 57,664 Avg WHITE 6G O Yes
    08/30/06 CADE Regular $16,000 58,140 Avg GOLD 6G A Yes
    08/17/06 RIVRSIDE Lease $15,500 58,681 Avg WHT 062 6G A Yes
    09/06/06 DALLAS Lease $17,200 58,725 Avg BLACK 6G A Yes
    08/11/06 RIVRSIDE Lease $15,800 59,542 Avg SIL 1C0 6G A Yes

Amazing how tightly they're clustered... at 5 years old, you'd figure that the condition would vary more than that.

Anyway, given that it's a smoker's car and has "blemishes" on the bumper -- each probably a $500 hit -- and keeping in mind that I'm not a professional, I'd think $15 is all the money on your car.

Which is pretty strong for a five-year-old car in, indeed, "average" condition. It couldn't have been more than $35 new, right? Maybe $32? Nearly half the $$ after all this time, plus it's not like they're cheap to maintain and repair...

What did carmax in their wisdom offer you?

    08/09/06 MILWAUKE Regular $30,000 16,685 Avg GRAY 6G A Yes

IOW, $30k before the hit if it had an automatic...

    A few sticks shifts::
    08/29/06 OHIO Factory $32,000 6,126 Avg ALPINE 6G 6 Yes
    08/29/06 OHIO Factory $31,250 3,146 Avg ARCTIC 6G 6 Yes
    08/09/06 MANHEIM Factory $30,250 10,039 Avg TITANIUM 6G 6 Yes

    08/08/06 NEVADA Factory $30,000 8,106 Avg ELECTRIC 6G 6 Yes

Not so much difference... maybe $28 to $29 ACV.

Where oh where do all those "factory" cars come from???? I thought the 3 was selling like hotcakes, no?

    Anyway, I hope this helps.
    Good luck,

$14,000 about three monthes ago. I wonder if Lexus has any incentive money for prior owners. I believe Carmax said it was "representative of its age and mileage".

I feel dumb, but what does 6G A package include, as I said the only thing this car lacks is traction control. I wondering if I should spend a couple hundred reconditioning before the trade.
  • steine13steine13 Member Posts: 2,825
    6G A = six-cylinder gas engine, automatic transmission.
Not so useful, they all are 6G automatics.

    the other fields are:
    date of sale
    location of sale
"source" i.e. lease return, factory sale, etc...
    Price
    mileage
    condition

    I'd say keep driving it...

IF you've got a 2.5l engine in your Z, it's worth around $25, give or take... stick or auto?

If it's a 3.0, then it's about $1k more... private party $32 does not sound doable... I'd suggest to drive it *A LOT* and then give it back when the time is up.

The goofy "take over lease" doesn't sound right at all, unless you can find someone who'd put a ton of miles on it and then it'd be cheap.... without the extra mile benefit, I don't think it's an attractive offer... when leasing, I'd go for a new car, thank you very much.

Mathias, thank you. You don't think 600.00 down( which will be refunded at end of lease 567.00/ month for 11 month sounds good? I just thought that someone who never owned a luxury sports car would think it was an opportunity to drive one for 11 months. I guess the market has changed. I am a former school administrator, sold Hondas for 8 years and now sell salvage for a large insurance company. Yes I am a car nut, but it beats being a criminal. How in the hell does a Physicist get hooked on cars? Last year I handled 18 Million wprth of salvage. It is so lucrative that people are coming from Nigeria and making 200 K a year. The China market is going to be huge. I was in Hong Kong last year and the market i unbelievable, met these guyd repairing American cars and driving Bentlys. Oh well thanks again and I will just pay it off if I don't sell. Wayne Creasy.

The problem with any "take over lease" deal is twofold:

#1 you're paying like you're getting the car new, and you're not.

#2 if the grim reaper comes at the end and assess $2745.37 in "excess wear & tear", guess who gets to pay.

There may be a general solution to #2 -- like an inspection at take-over time -- but I've never heard of it.

I also think that the original lessee's name is usually still on the books for liability purposes in the event of a wreck.

How about trade in value for -

2003 F-150 Supercab, xlt sport, silver outside, gray inside
    4.6 v8, auto, 2wd, 43k miles
cloth buckets, manual rear slider, limited slip, single cd,
factory sunroof, bedliner, running bds, 17" alloys
    I added toolbox, tints
Clean outside, a few scratches on side of bed, few rock chips on grill
Miami FL, never left the state of FL
1 owner - me, non smoker, no pets, inside is clean - no spills, no rip or tears, no hitch - never towed a trailer
    Never wrecked
2 new tires on front, rears more than 50% worn, oil changed every 5k - I have receipts
    No mechanical problems to date
    Thanks for your help.

    Depends on the lease co.
Some will take the original lesee off the lease entirely.

    Trade in $12-13000
  • robbiegrobbieg Member Posts: 350
Back in January I was looking at one of these. A local used car dealer had a bunch of them. He was asking 22,000 for ones with 35,000 miles on it and 23,000 for one with 25,000 miles on it. He said they were basically trouble free and that he sells a ton of them and he never has any complaints about them breaking down. Gotta love Toyotas. They run forever and still command big money even when they have a lot of miles on them.
  • nortsr1nortsr1 Member Posts: 1,060
lemmer....Thankyou, I figured that, but I am going to shoot for thirteen. If they tell me they have to send it to auction with that car have 30 months of bumper to bumper left and will be able to be sold as a CPO, I am pretty sure they won't wholesale it out.

I guess mine would be a deal at the wholesale price. The guy at Carmax asked if I thought it was worth more when I laughed at their original offer.

I need to find out the value of a 2006 Ford F150 Pickup with only 1800 miles on it. It is leased and we need to see if we can negotiate to end the lease very early as our situation has changed drastically and we can't afford the payments. It is a 4WD, dark gray/blue with gray fabric interior, auto transmission, 3.4 liter engine. Since it has been driven so little it is in new condition.
  • volvomaxvolvomax Member Posts: 5,238
We would need more info on the truck, model, 2 or 4WD, options etc.

However, lease companies won't negotiate to end a lease early.
Most of them have penalties for early termination.
You have to pay all the payments plus a penalty amount.

If you aren't too buried you could try trading it in for a much cheaper car.
  • steine13steine13 Member Posts: 2,825
Ditto on the details... trucks come in myriads of configurations, and no full-size truck out there, least of all any 2006, has a 3.4 l engine. Really.

  • british_roverbritish_rover Member Posts: 8,502
    Yeah engine options for F-150s were a 4.2 liter V6, 4.6 Liter V8, 5.4 liter v8.
  • quint1quint1 Member Posts: 13
I am actually on the buyside of this, but I believe the dealer bought this at an auction and want to know what his cost was so I have a better idea where to negotiate from. I am in the Minneapolis area. Thanks :confuse:
  • volvomaxvolvomax Member Posts: 5,238
One w/ 133,000 mi went through for $6400.
however, that doesn't tell what the dealer spent in recon for the car.
Kelly wholesale is @ $8200, if you can get the car for that reconditioned it would be a pretty good deal.

A dealer in Seattle has this new on the lot still, has 776 miles on it, and from what I can tell, doesnt have too many other options. The MSRP was 34k, and they are asking 26k for it now, I figure with the way the value of these have gone in the tank, I could make a relatively low offer, and have them accept it. Does anyone know what something like this is going for at auction right now?

    Thank you.
  • british_roverbritish_rover Member Posts: 8,502
Hmhhh basicly two years old now so I would take a stab at between 35 and 40 percent off of MSRP.
