How low can I legitimately expect a dealer in SE US to go on a '07 XC90 3.2L - preferrably a 7 seater, do not need or want to pay for AWD. Would be looking for one with 20 - 35k miles.

I've seen one w/ 30k miles listed at 25,900 certified - makes me think 24k flat is doable. What say you?
  • volvomaxvolvomax Member Posts: 5,238
    30k miles is a lot.
So, the low price reflects that.
Is $25,900 the list price or the selling price?

  • cccompsoncccompson Member Posts: 2,382
Or stick it on craigslist for $7500 with some good pics and it'll be gone in less than a day.
  • jurisprudentjurisprudent Member Posts: 2
List price... although they claim it is the selling price.
  • volvomaxvolvomax Member Posts: 5,238
Well, I can't see it going for much less.
    Maybe a grand.
It really depends on when they got the truck.
They could be in the hole right now.

    Two things...

First off, it if truly has a V6, that's one special TSX! They're 4 bangers.

2nd, isn't NAV the only option on those? If so that would make it a base model.

Shouldn't be hard to sell, but the new TSX just came out.
  • [Deleted User][Deleted User] ColoradoPosts: 0
Oops, typo there, it is a base 4cylinder...thanks for catching that. ;)
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
If it was an engine swap I was gonna ask you how much...LOL.
  • volvomaxvolvomax Member Posts: 5,238
    $2000 should kill it.

for private party or is that trade? Thanks
  • cccompsoncccompson Member Posts: 2,382
He was giving the trade value range. The problem with late model vehicles is that they can be VERY difficult to sell privately. Craigslist in particular doesn't typically reach that sort of buyer. You might want to get a number from Carmax if sales tax credit is not an issue in your state.
  • ellisn03ellisn03 Member Posts: 3
Thanks. Was able to really push them and got 2,350. We really pushed hard and the car was super clean for its age. Always push till they almost break is the lesson.

Could you tell me the estimated value for a 2006 Honda Accord Coupe EX V6 w/Leather?

    Los Angeles, CA
    2006 Honda Accord
    Coupe
    V6
    FWD
    38,000
    Silver
    Everything except Navi
    Slight dings on rear bumper
    Tires almost new
Front brakers replaced one month ago
Parts of the right side of car were painted for scratches

I received a quote of $14,500 from CarMax, but I feel that is too low for the car.

Any help I can get would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  • volvomaxvolvomax Member Posts: 5,238
Well, it's got lots of miles, it's been painted.
CarMax is all over this one.
  • volvomaxvolvomax Member Posts: 5,238
On the first one, wholesale is probably @ 12K, so I don't think $12,500 OTD is gonna get it done.
I seriously doubt that car has been on that dealers lot since last October.
They would be losing a TON more than $800!

The 07 wholesale is prob @$13-13,500. So, you should have some room.
  • jbone108jbone108 Member Posts: 11
“I seriously doubt that car has been on that dealers lot since last October”

You’re right it has not been on this dealers lot that long it was at another local dealer. It has been on the current dealers lot since the first of May.

volvomax, i remember when that rryoce guy used to always want feedback on what someone got for their vehicle after he told them what he thought it would fetch. Thought I'd do the same for you. Carmax offered me 13.5 for the vehicle. Knowing that, I tried for a week to sell it for 15.5 and got exactly zero calls on it, so i took their offer. i was quite pleased. Of course, I know a week isn't long at all to try to sell a vehicle but I needed the cash stat. anyway, this is not to downplay or denigrate your estimate, i'm simply providing you feedback on the service you provided. thanks for doing that!
  • volvomaxvolvomax Member Posts: 5,238
    Good for you.
Carmax is run by idiots however.
One of the local Nissan dealers is offering BRAND NEW Titans for 50% off MSRP.
    Translates to @ $14,800.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
    That's just plain nuts.
  • iontrapiontrap Member Posts: 139
This caught my eye today. Looking for trade in and realistic retail, dealer is asking $28,995.
    Location: Augusta, Ga
    Year/Make/Model: 2007 Ford Expedition EL
    Engine: 5.4L V8
    Driveline: RWD
    Mileage:16,300
Color: Exterior - white and tan
    Interior - 2 tone tan/gray
Major Options: Looks pretty well equipped, includes Nav, power fold 3rd row etc.
  • jhs70jhs70 Member Posts: 213
well they may be idiots, but they're generous idiots!!! :)

gee, I got jobbed. I only got 40% off my new titan!!
  • lancerfixerlancerfixer Member Posts: 1,284
...got another one for you. BTW, Volvomax, GF's absolutely loving her S80...she's happy she got the T6. No speeding tickets yet! :shades:

So, I'm kicking around selling the Saab (the back seat legroom's getting too cramped for almost-8-y.o. daughter (!) ) and picking up the following:

    2002 Mercedes E320 4Matic wagon
    charcoal gray over black leather
    85k miles
service records going back 4 years (maintained well)
aftermarket stereo w/XM (though it came with the Bose package)
heated seats, but no headlight washers (guess they weren't a package like they are on Volvos)

The car seems all there, at a local indy Euro dealer.

    I'd be selling/trading:

2002 Saab 9-3 SE (so it's got the full leather and ACC)
    white over beige leather
    85k miles
all maintenance/service bulletins up to date
    5 speed manual

Whaddya think for figures, private sale/trade of the Saab and sale of the Benz? Anything with the E class I should watch out for? Thanks in advance!
  • volvomaxvolvomax Member Posts: 5,238
Guessing that it's an Eddie Bauer.
Trade in would be $20,000 tops.
    Retail @ $24k
  • volvomaxvolvomax Member Posts: 5,238
Retail on the Benz should be mid teens.

SAAB trade in is somewhere in the $4-5,000 range.
    Private party $2-3000 more.
The 5 speed might make it a little tough.
Although the right SAAB fanatic might be out there.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
Wow, that's about half the price of a new one and it's only 2 years old.

Of course why not get a Titan/Armada for that discount brand new? ;)

Suddendly I want a truck. LOL
  • akanglakangl Member Posts: 3,282
isn't everyone?? Located in Alaska. (thinking we should have sold this truck a few months ago!)

    2006 Dodge Ram 3500 SLT
    Quad cab longbed DRW
    4x4
    5.9L 6-cyl diesel
    6-spd manual
    47k miles
    red/grey
    pwr windows/locks/tow mirrors/seat
    am/fm/cd
    tires are pretty newish
brakes good, all maint up to date

It does have a pretty good crease on the pass side door/fender, body shop estimate is $1500, this was thanks to 2 hit and run drivers, it has the crease and a dent in the fender. Estimate was for both.

Other than that its a clean truck.

Dealers are saying $15k.........is that really all its worth?

Business is sold, don't have any use for a dually anymore.

    Thanks volvo!!
  • volvomaxvolvomax Member Posts: 5,238
Part of your problem is being in Alaska. :P

In the lower 48, that truck should do $19-20,000
  • sebring95sebring95 Member Posts: 3,241
Woof....how the market has changed. I sold my '03 nearly identical Dodge 3500 this time last year. Add Laramie, DVD and about 80k more miles....and got $22k on private party. I don't think a few months would help.....but twelve sure would! Hindsight being 20/20 and all....
  • lancerfixerlancerfixer Member Posts: 1,284
Thanks, Volvomax. I know unloading the Saab will be the challenge.

Yeah yeah rub it in! One of the managers read off the action report and said they were rolling through around $20k. He was still not willing to go over $15k on the truck. The auction report was from mayhiem or however you spell it, lol.
  • qbrozenqbrozen Member Posts: 33,733
hell, for $5k, just drive on down the coast to the lower 48, sell it to the first dealer and fly back. ;)

Thanks volvomax, it is an EB. Would $22k OTD be a good offer?
  • volvomaxvolvomax Member Posts: 5,238
Thanks volvomax, it is an EB. Would $22k OTD be a good offer?

    Probably not.
If they traded it for $20k, you have prob $500 in recon
Tax and license is probably close to 2 grand.
    No profit there.
Even if they bought it for $19k it's still a skinny deal.
  • iontrapiontrap Member Posts: 139
My local taxes are 7%. So assuming they bought it for $20k, add at least $500 for recondition how does $23.5k sound?
  • volvomaxvolvomax Member Posts: 5,238

We leased a silver 2006 Volvo XC90 with every option except NAV 2 years ago. Sticker price was $53K. Current milage is 29,600. Residual is a whopping $38,000. Since Volvo Finance wouldn't negotiate, dealer offer to buy and sell back to me for $24,800 plus pay the $395 disposition fee. My questions are (1) is this a fair price and (2) what would be the current wholesale/trade-in value on this vehicle? They seem to be retailing around $30K on the lots. I would love to know how much Volvo Finance was selling the vehicle to the dealer for. Thanks for any opinions!

I forgot to mention that I am in southwest Ohio.
  • corvettecorvette Member Posts: 11,270
I'll defer to Volvomax, but that sounds like a darn good price to me. And, you know the previous owner.
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 265,441
There is a local used dealer in southwest Ohio that has '06 Ocean Race edition with low miles.. his asking price is $24,900..

So, the auction values are most likely under that number by a couple of thousand...

The local Volvo dealer has the same car with the NAV and DVD option... asking $31,900 (plus, it's CPO)..

I only mention those, because it's local to where you live...

    Typical auction is $21-24,000.
    Depends on color and equipment.
