Here in southern california (Zip code 90501) carsdirect is selling BRAND NEW 2.4 EX-L for 22.8K including destinantion...
Dont know where you are?
I'm interested in buying a CPO, so I would also appreciate any negotiating/buying tips for those, or realistic target price for CPO (X amount below asking, etc).
My trade-in:
Black 2005 Dodge Durango
Limited, AWD, w/ Hemi
48,000 miles (bought it CPO 8year, 80,000 miles... if that matters)
Moonroof, Nav, Rear Air, Rear DVD
Body's in good shape, a few minor dings/scratches, Interior is good (no rips, etc).
Normal wear on tires etc., replaced a few things like brake pads, as needed.
Overall it's in pretty good condition.
Here in the DC area, that would include Bethesda, MD, and McLean, VA, for instance.
But if the car is in FL on the gulf coast, it's probably not worth the effort to ship it up here. Just advertise in upscale areas in FL.
Just a thought. Target the marketing in local publications in those areas.
I don't want to be mean but I think you should move on and try to get a new '08 for about the same price while you can. There're always some crazy people out there who are willing to pay top $$ for used cars b/c they think they get great deals.
Excellent! There are any number of people on the various boards who could benefit from attendance.
1. Do you run an auto dealership or are you in the armed forces? You're never going to get retail value for your car because you're not a retailer. (Duh!) Edmunds trade-in and private sale values, respectively, are $7,735 and $9,161. If you trade, you won't likely get that amount, because dealers don't use Edmunds. They use auction prices, such as Manheim, which tend to be even lower. When I traded my Tribute, Edmunds was around $9,000-$10,000 and the dealer offered me $8,500. I was suprised, but unlike you, I decided to do my homework and listen to others instead of hurling ignorant insults. As I recall, Volvomax had placed it at $8,000. You'll be lucky to get $7K on a trade and, most likely, less than that. (Volvomax, you do a great job in enlightening people. Maybe you can give this guy a realistic value for his trade.)
2. The Duratec 2.5L in your car was developed by Ford in 1993 and, in addition to your Mondeo/Jaguar, was used in the American Contour, Cougar and other cars. Oh, by the way, I was wrong. The engine in my $22,400 Tribute -- now worth about the same used as your Mondeo/Jaguar that cost thousands more when new (and you probably paid a lot more than $29K+ with options) -- was not the 2.5L, but the more powerful 3.0L. This was the same engine found in the S-type, the model above your car. If you knew anything about cars, you'd realize that most manufacturers today develop components for multi-country applications. Your Mondeo/Jaguar is about as British as you are.
3. Your Mondeo/Jaguar did not get a single five-star crash rating and side impact was "marginal." Unfortunately, it didn't have the build quality of the five-star-rated Subarus you criticize (made, by the way, by patriotic Americans in Indiana who pay the tab for you and others in Iraq). Many reviewers noted the cheapness of the X-type interior and other shortcomings in a car for this price.
Bottom line: you didn't make a great choice in cars. Get over it and take your lumps like others do on this forum.
I won't dignify your other smears about New Yorkers, other than to point out that NY Senator Chuck Schumer is the one who's asking tough questions on behalf of you, me and other taxpayers in this mess (created, no doubt, by people you probably voted for). When you leave the service, I hope you'll take your educational benefits -- that you get with my tax dollars -- and use them to acquire some manners and some knowledge. Based on your forum postings, you'll need them if you ever want gainful employment in the private sector.

I usually have to go to work, also, my work rarely closes and I don't want to take a day off.
We've had a Subaru in our fleet for the past decade, and they've come in handy quite often.
I actually have come to like snow because it means no traffic!
I like the Craigslist idea.
RX330 AWD's are running $25-26k at the sale.
Durango anywhere from $10-12k.
I sold my G20 in a day after listing on craig list...
The newspaper ad (The Union Tribune in SAn Diego) did not result in any serious calls)
The Sandman :confuse:
I've found AutoTrader is actually good for finding what new cars are in stock at some local dealers.
So they can be useful - in the right context.
My wife swears by craigslist, too.
For instance what some people consider "Excellent condition" is laughable.

This one is non -cpo, 30K miles, white, loaded (sport+premium+cold+nav+premium audio). They're asking 31K I'd rate the condition as very clean, tires have less than 10K on 'em. ... what would be a reasonable offer?
Thanks.

one service by dealer
right front bumper has a scrape in it, $520 to fix, couple of dings which can easily be fixed by the dent wizard. Everything else is fine. Not sure what I owe in or aroud 30K as a buyout.
I was thinking more like $28-29000, but let us know how you make out!
