Sorry guys..came across another potential Taurus replacement- this seems like a good deal but just wanted some feedback...

    2004 BMW 325xi
    5spd
    Silver Exterior
    Black Interior
    56,000 Miles
    Leatherette Interior
    H/K Sound
Heated seats (so I'm assuming that means Cold Weather Pack)
    Xenon Headlights

I don't believe it has the sport pack. Car looks clean, has a clean carfax and has no paintwork on it. Car drives tight and frankly was a blast.

Guy is asking 14,900 for it. To me that sounds like a screaming deal but I'm just curious to see what you guys think.

This is also in the Philadelphia area.

    Thanks!

Miles are really low, but you won't get full value for then on a trade.
    Figure $15,000,maybe $16,000 tops.

Sir, having owned a 2000 S80 and lived w/ all the quirks, I hesitate to buy anything"new" from Volvo, but my wife loves the C70.

We are thinking of a used, either 07 or o8. I assume 08 is sorted out mechanically better w/ roof/ ect? Is ther a best time to buy a HT convertable in NE? Do you suggest wait for a used 09?

What are they going for at auction as compoared to the Edmunds trade in value, as I see some new on ebay and less/ close to what some peolpe want used!

    thank you for your time.
  • volvomaxvolvomax Member Posts: 5,238
Nothing wrong w/ the roof on the 07. the 06 had some rattling issues but that was addressed.
09's are just starting to trickle in,mostly to the warm weather markets.
You will have to wait a while to see used ones.

You are probably looking at the low $30's for a used 07.

I am trying to sell my 2007 Honda Accord EX(Auto(4), cloth, sunroof, sedan, 14,600 miles with remaining Honda warranty) to a dealer. I owe $18,631(without tax). What number do you think is realistic since most identical cars are advertised at $18,000-$19,000. The car was in a one car accident which means that my car hit the guardrail. The driver's side was damaged and work has been completed by ABC Nissan, an Allstate approved site in Phoenix, AZ. In addition to the manufacturers warranty, all repairs are warrantied by Allstate. Since it's a lease, I can't transfer it but I can buy it out and sell it. Any advice would be appreciated.
  • volvomaxvolvomax Member Posts: 5,238
$18-19,000 is retail for that car.
However, yours was damaged and that always has an effect on value.

I think @ $15-16,000 is what you can expect to get selling it.
  • volvomaxvolvomax Member Posts: 5,238
    Trade @ $9000

I'm well aware we are all over the place with cars...but here is another one if you don't mind volvomax.

    2004 Volvo S60 2.5T AWD

Looks like it has Premium and Cold Weather packages from what I can tell.
Clean Carfax, 1-owner, bought and serviced at this particular dealership

At a Volvo dealership a couple hours outside Philly. Asking $13,995- seems pretty low to me. Do you think there is any wiggle room in there? The car is NOT certified, which is my guess as to why it is priced so low. Assuming it's clean, I was thinking of offering something like 13 or 13,5 since they've been sitting with it for a goodbit.

    Thanks!

these seem popular around here these days!

    Anyway, I found a 2005 X3 3.0i.

Silver, black leatherette. Looks like a lowish option car, but does have AT and a panoramic roof. Heated seats to I think.

    55,000 miles. In NJ.

At a local used car place (not a BMW dealer). So, not CPO.

Only seen pictures so far, but looks clean enough. TIres might be new, but I think they are an off brand (Hercules?)

anyway, to go non-cpo with these miles, what is a fair price to offer in these trying times?

  • volvomaxvolvomax Member Posts: 5,238

  • volvomaxvolvomax Member Posts: 5,238
    Asking price is fair.
Esp since it isn't a CPO car.
If they have any flexibility at all, your offer should work.
  • volvomaxvolvomax Member Posts: 5,238
If Carmax offered anything close to $5500 take it.
    You have a $3000 truck.
  • volvomaxvolvomax Member Posts: 5,238
Hard to say, but I'm thinking $5-6,000
  • volvomaxvolvomax Member Posts: 5,238
X3's w/ those miles are doing @ $16,000 at the auction.
So, you should be able to buy one under $20k for sure.
    Maybe under $19k.

I am attempting to sell or trade-in my Honda Accord EX-L V6 Coupe! I have only had the car for a bit over 14 months. Due to family needs, I need to get back into a sedan. KBB, Edmunds, and NADA values are around $21,500 for private party and $19,750 for trade-in. This last weekend I was offered only $13K at Carmax which was a complete joke. I was offered $16,500 and $17,000 at two different dealerships and this was with me purchasing one of their cars! I owe $19K. I just posted the car on Autotrader on Sunday for $19,995 and have yet to have any bites. It's the best priced similarly equipped model on their site in the area. What do you feel is the best case scenario for a trade-in value at a dealership and do you think my car is priced right at $19,995 on Autotrader? Check out the pics on Autotrader for a better feel for the vehicle and it's condition. Just specify by the parameters below.

    Houston, TX
    2007 Honda Accord

    3.0L, V6, auto

Custom 18" Momo wheels w/ General Exclaim UHP tires
    No damage to the car
  • volvomaxvolvomax Member Posts: 5,238
Wholesale on that car is probably in the $16-17,000 range.

Don't know what Carmax was thinking.

As for not getting any bites,it can take quite a while to sell a late model car privately.
  • robbiegrobbieg Member Posts: 350
    Volvomax,
Hasn't he priced it a high considering that trade is 16 or 17? Wouldn't that be more like a retail selling price as opposed to a retail asking price?
  • qbrozenqbrozen Member Posts: 33,736
A tad. But he's not way off the mark. Retail asking should be ~$21k. But based on what I've typically seen at Honda dealers, they would probably mark it up to $22-$23. So $19,995 asking private party is not unreasonable.

HOWEVER, what the poster needs to consider is the tax laws in his area. For me in NJ, I get credit when trading, not when selling privately. So if I trade that car in for $17k, that equates to an $18,190 total trade value with the tax credit. I think the seller would be lucky to get $19k for the car private party. Personally, I wouldn't waste all that time and effort, not to mention advertising costs and inherent risks, for a POSSIBLE $800.

This is why I don't bother selling private party anything that's worth more than $10k.

Well, my wife has finally found a car she likes at what looks to me to be a decent price, but I'd much appreciate a reality check from the experts.

One owner 06 530xi, 26K miles, premium, nav, cold weather, xenons, clean inside and out. Looks like the bumpers have been repainted and there's some overspray. Otherwise paintwork is good, clean Carfax and full service history.

Any thoughts on ballpark trade-in and non-CPO retail values? Many thanks.

Hi, through a very fortunate situation I have been given a free car to drive so I am looking at options of getting out of my lease and rid of my current car. If you could let me know what the realistic value of this car is that would be a big help as well!

    Atlanta, GA
    07 Saturn Vue
    V6, 2WD
    27k miles
    Roof Rack/CD player/leatherette-cloth combo
Tires/Brakes- normal for 2 years of driving. More hwy driving than city.
    regular maintenance under warranty
small scratch on material- inside of driver door

Bumper needs to be replaced- I will replace unless you don't think I should (no accidents, hit and run in a parking lot)

Thanks so much! Any suggestions for me are welcomed!

    Now,they have cooled off considerably.
    The miles don't help either.

Looking to trade in our silver 2006 VW Passat 2.0T (automatic, luxury package 1 sunroof, 6 disc CD changer, satellite radio), and cold weather package) with 47,xxx miles. No dents or accidents, minimal wear and tear. Edmunds came back around $16.4, but curious if that is a realistic trade-in or not.
