    $19k? good one! :P

btw, if anyone is considering an STi they're very fun, a little bit dull before ~3-4k rpm and a Cobb AP makes a big difference - all while getting 21-23mpg.

if it wasn't for the move....
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
    $20k? ;)

    Just kidding.

You'll get $26-28k selling it privately, the problem will be getting a qualified buyer who isn't just interested in a joy ride.

    Location: Dallas
    2002 CR-V EX w/ 105890 miles
Condition: Very clean - 1 minor ding on the driver door and 1 minor ding on the left quarter panel. Tires have about 50% left on them, brakes replaced (front and rear) about a year ago. I also have maintenance records and receipts. Interior is in great shape with no stains or upholstery tears.

    Thanks in advance!

That sounds exactly like the one I traded back in July... even down to the mileage, tires and brakes... (no dings on mine.. :) )

I can't give you a current amount (as I'm not the expert), but I got $9000 for mine, last July, and was very happy with that amount!

    Good luck!

    Well, I'm back. :)

Had a GREAT time over there.

Did the factory tour, drove an XC60 D5, got to try out the City Safety feature.
Let me tell you, it is an unnatural act to attempt to drive into a barrier!

Learned that the C30R is a go. 300hp and AWD.
  • volvomaxvolvomax Member Posts: 5,238
Not having the 3rd seat will hurt, even though the miles are low.
Probably looking at $8-9,000 real money.
  • stickguystickguy Member Posts: 53,330
that low? Dang, I would buy it for below 10K with those miles. I also don't need a 3rd row, and can easily live without AWD!

Did you happen to go on one of those infamous Swedish "party cruise boats"? It's rumored that way too much alcohol is consumed on those "cruises", & that there are far too many single Swedish women pasengers on board......

Cool, I have a friend who's looking at the new XC60. Handsome little crossover.

C30R is more my style, though.

The ballpark number was 10 to 11. It brought $12,500 (real money) today on a trade for a new RAV4.

I looked at it close and my description was a bit off. The tires (good ones) had less than 5K on 'em and the odometer had yet to hit 27,000 miles. The interior was just like new (back seat never sat in).

Still, even factoring those things in, 12.5 had to be all the money. It was more than I was willing to pay for a private sale. I guess dealers will always pay a premium for a choice vehicle.

I would think that`s a pretty decent price.Absolute lowest offer would be 1000 less. But probably difficult. But if it`s in good condition I would take it.
Others over here may have more info and a different opinion.

    I'm trading one in.

A 2007 CRV LX 4WD Royal Blue with 22750 miles in excellent condition, hoping to get $15,500.00 on a trade for a 2009 CRV LX 4WD in Urban Titiainum Metallic with 0 miles soon and for $20000.00.

    Think I can do it?

How should I approach the dealership? Do I have to do alot of arm twisting and make a scene just to get a good deal?

Do I have to walk away five times from the dealership to get a good deal?
  • jimbresjimbres Member Posts: 2,025
I see that you're no longer worried about the economy.
  • volvomaxvolvomax Member Posts: 5,238
Do I have to do alot of arm twisting and make a scene just to get a good deal?

If you did that in my store, I'd just throw you out. ;)

Just be sincere with your salesperson. Let them know you are there to buy TODAY if the numbers are right.
Be realistic in what you are willing to pay.
As for the CRV, you are in the right neighborhood on trade value, so that should make it easier.

    Hello,

I will be buying a C70 at some point in near future. I am leaning to a used 2008 or 2007 low mileage. I see Edmunds TMV, aand look at Autotrader , and see new 08 ones listed at 8K off list, and used ones a fair $ below TMV I also see no activity on the C70 forum.
Are these like Chrysler crossfires and not selling? I also not failuers on Ebay to attract bids that are even close to the TMV.
    Please educate me.
    Thank you for your time.
  • vagabondchefvagabondchef Member Posts: 107
I'm still worried about the economy, just want to get a good deal without being taken advantaged of, and before my trade value drops lower because of the market.
  • vagabondchefvagabondchef Member Posts: 107
I don't think I would be thrown out in these times, we would just make it a win-win situation for the dealership and the customer....and there are a thousand ways to do that.

Alot of times when you are sincere it takes hours to get the deal done when you are sincere as it takes them forever to appraise your trade and talk numbers.

I always wanted to walk in on the sales managers office (while I'm waiting) and tell them what can we do to get this deal done in the past, sometimes I would like telling the salesperson to leave and I take over the deal with the sales manager at the desk. What can possibly take so long anyway, especially with everything online these days?
  • steine13steine13 Member Posts: 2,825
What can possibly take so long anyway, especially with everything online these days?

What's taking so long is that you let it take so long.

If things aren't moving along, just ask that a number/decision/appraisal or whatever you're waiting for will be provided in the next 5 minutes. If it isn't, make an appointment for a "more convenient time."

If they won't go along with it, leave. I've never taken more than an hour, and usually more like 15-20 minutes, to negotiate a deal -- or realize that we won't be able to gree. A car deal does not have a lot of variables...

Delivery can take a while; that's a different story. I've never tried to get delivered on the spot, though.

A 2007 CRV LX 4WD for a 2009 CRV LX 4WD? At least you won't wear out the alphabet. :P
  • mikefm58mikefm58 Member Posts: 2,882
Honda redesigned the CRV and did an EXCELLENT job, I can see why he wants a newer one.
  • jimbresjimbres Member Posts: 2,025
Honda redesigned the CRV and did an EXCELLENT job, I can see why he wants a newer one.

But he already has the newer one. 2007 was the 1st year of the current generation. The 2009 CR-V that he wants to buy is virtually identical to the CR-V that he currently owns.

As I understand it, he's worried about the economy, so he wants a brand-new car with a warranty to match. He apparently thinks that this is the best possible way to spend the $5K that it'll cost him to pull this off.

It's his money, of course, so he can do what he wants. But every financial advisor I'm familiar with would recommend banking this money or using it to pay down debt.
  • volvomaxvolvomax Member Posts: 5,238
C70 is still a seasonal vehicle.
In most parts of the country it is still too cold or dreary for most people to contemplate buying one.
  • volvomaxvolvomax Member Posts: 5,238
Well, you have a sales manager that is doing more than just your numbers.
Plus, it can take time if you have to call several wholesalers for a bid on a trade. They all need to call people to lay the car off on.
These days, no one wants to hit a used car wrong
    Sometimes, the salesperson is slow.

I would like an average auction value/trade value on the following
    2007 Nissan Armada SE 2WD
    26,000 miles, Excellent Condition
    Southeastern Louisiana

I don't see too many of these for sale (in my area), so I am curious if this is the time to trade in or sell private party

    Thanks

I need to brush up on my CRV models as I thought 08 was the redesign, my bad. Yeah he's doing the opposite of what people do during a recession. Most people "hunker down" but he's out spending.
  • vagabondchefvagabondchef Member Posts: 107

Thanks for the replies and info. Car is at a "no haggle" dealership. As I was not planning on trading my car in(worth maybe 1500 trade-a 2000 dodge) there was no room for negotiation. The only variable I could factor in was the price of the extended warranty. The car is a former rental and I figured a longer powertrain plan would be prudent. I wanted the plan at cost, they declined. I left my contact info. Lets see.
By the way- entire process from the initial "hi", a test drive, etc...to my final cup of free coffee on the way out the door took less than an hour.
