That's a better discount than I thought. Sounds like a pretty good deal. Looks like it even has Comfort Access, which seems to be somewhat rare on BMWs.

I agree w/ stick guy. Love the Vermillion Red Ext, but NOT with the Coral Red Leather. That red leather looks good (imho) with white, black, silver, grey...

Maybe they bought it too expensive? There's got to be a reason they're digging their heels in. What's the original in service date?

We haven't even discussed price; there's also a Titanium Silver/Tan 328i xDrive sedan we are considering- fairly well equipped, but no SP or H-K. Our advantage is that we are in NO hurry.

My mom's Fiesta has about 120 HP. Took it on a 400 mile round trip with about a 2000 foot elevation rise outbound and 2 people.
Return trip was 3 people and a full boot under the hatch.
Averaged 42 mpg and the engine never felt strained, although the engine always lets you know it's there.
To me, you have to weigh the price of the mini against the style and refinement.

A whole lot of these with similar miles crossing the block. 3 in NJ alone on 6/6 alone, all went for $32k-$32500 each.

So, actually, a pretty good price as is. Them dropping any $$ off would just be a bonus.

EDIT: oh wait.... sorry. I was looking at sedans. Far fewer coupes, and, interestingly enough, they are cheaper than the 4-doors. That's usually not the case with bimmers. The 2-doors are only $29-$29500. So that car is quite high for not being CPO. If CPO, that's fair. As is, $32k is more the number, but good luck getting a BMW dealer to see it that way. They are a tough bunch.

    Tough one.
You sure you could live with those door inserts?

Anyway... at the block... probably about $22,500-$23k, depending if they look inside or not. ;)

You know the drill... hits their lot at $23,500-$24k. Pack on $1500 profit, and you are at $25k-$25,500

The lack of AWD isn't a big deal; we have the Wrangler if the situation is extremely dire. The color is called "Absolute Black", but it is actually a very dark metallic blue(kind of like BMW's Carbon Black. We drove it today and really liked it. The MINI dealer has an Oxford Green 2012 Cooper S demo equipped the same way(slushbox, CWP, no hole in the roof)with 850 miles, and the sales guy said that they'd knock @25 cents per mile off the $29,500 price- but they also have an $1500 "protection package" tacked on to that. Right now we are thinking offering $25,000 OTD for the '11 and see what happens. We aren't in a hurry and they've had the car for over a month, so we'll see...

When my daughter was working the Resort Tour, Countryman S ended up sitting the most and not one guy asked to drive it in 3 months.
All the others were real BMW's, so I guess it makes sense.

Not sure I could ever sell the wife on this one, but quick price check:

a 2007 BMW X3 3.0i. Gray over black. Looks pretty well loaded, has the pano roof.

at an Acura dealer (same place I got my Volvo). 63K on it. Shows as a CPO (from prior owner), and that will run until March 2013 (though I have no idea if that will still be in effect). Clean carfax

so, what would something like this go for trade/retail?

CPO definitely follows the car when it comes to BMW, so that would be in effect.

Prices are sketchy. There were a couple in PA recently that went for under $16k. Most with about 60k miles are right around $18k. Question will be what the dealer gave for the car, of course. Possibly $17k. What are they asking for it?

I know this might sound crazy but I am considering purchasing a 2011 Saab 9-5 turbo 4 with about 6,000 miles on it. I love saabs and although there is no warranty or possibly no dealer network I am still considering it. The vehicle is in the Kentucky region and is a base model with automatic and moonroof.

How much are these going for currently over the auction block?

    Thanks.

Not many out there. Do you know the color? A dark blue one with 6300 miles went through the Georgia auction at an amazing $30,600 just a few days ago. Thing is, that was, BY FAR, the most expensive one. 2 went through PA at the end of May for $20k each with fewer miles, and one with 9k miles got $20,800 on June 21.

Are you crazy? Possibly. A coworker just dumped her '09 9-3 because she said she couldn't obtain parts for it.

    Hi Guys,

    Any thoughts on a 2006 BMW 330i?

    It's got:
    Premium Package
    Cold Weather Package
    Navigation
    Automatic
    Leather
    85,000 miles

Seems to be a good deal given what I have seen on KBB and Autotrader, Edmunds, etc.
However, should I wait for a few months and get the 335i from 2007 for a similar price once it has had time to depreciate. I just think that paying $13.250 for this car seems like an aggressive price and I should jump on it....

Thanks again for your thoughts and advice!

    color?
    location?

    Are those the exact miles?
2 with 84,xxx miles have gone through dealer auction recently. Both Grey. I don't know if with NAV or not. One for $12,600 and the other for $13k.

So, is $13,250 too cheap? Yeah. Those 2 units above will be hitting the lot owing the dealer more than $13,250.

if that's the case, yes, its a good deal as long as it checks out. Dealer trade-in is probably in the $11,500-$12k zip code, so the private seller is making a little extra and getting a quick sale.

Thanks guys. It is in fact from a private seller and it sounds like it's a good deal and I will be paying the BMW dealer to do a full inspection before I buy.

However, with a 330i having 85K miles on it, I'm not sure if I'm setting myself up for thousands in repairs in the near future. It seems like a great deal given the options but thrown in 3-4k over three years time in repairs and I could have bought an '07 335i with less miles/less headache.

No way to predict but just some concerns I have...
  • 28firefighter28firefighter Member Posts: 9,821
I bought a 2004 330XI 2 years ago with 79k miles. It checked out all around on service and maintenance history, had a clean bill of health from the mechanic. It turned out to be an absolute nightmare for repairs. Left me stranded twice and I dumped thousands into it before I cut my losses 10 months later and traded it in.

Last I ran the CarFax, its been sold twice since I traded.

Not that this will happen with you, I'm sure I had a lemon of some kind. Just some food for thought. Was a great car when it ran.

The E90 330is don't have a lot of issues; the naturally aspirated inline six is just about bulletproof and the ancillaries have proven to be pretty robust. A 335i is a real rocket but the direct injected turbocharged engine hold the potential for issues as well.
I have a 1995 3er and a 2004 X3 2.5 and over a combined 270,000 miles I have only had one major issue- the transfer case on the truck at over 130,000 miles.
    That said, I'd like a 2008 or 2009 M Sport 328i with a stick. Simple and a brilliant drive.

I definitely disagree. My '08 135i has been to the dealer about 7 times in the 7 months I've owned it so far. I still love the car, though. I would, however, trust the reliability of the 330i much more.

You are a much braver man than me; the naturally aspirated M54 in my son's 2004 X3 almost totally depletes the oil's additive package(TBN>1.0) by 10,000 miles- and the result is the same regardless of whether I use a BMW LL-01 oil or a synthetic HDEO such as Mobil 1 5W-40 or Rotella T6.

Seems to be the norm these days for OEM tires. Of my last five new vehicles a total of ZERO have gone past 30k miles before being worn beyond what I am comfortable running. Our current '11 Sienna is barely going to make it 25k on the OEM's. My Pathfinder OEM's went 30k and the replacement Michelins I put on now have 45k with gobs of tread remaining. So it's not like I'm particularly hard on tires. They're just using the lowest bidder on the front end. Even the Michelins on our previous Odyssey were the cheapest you can buy and were tossed around 30k.

I love the car, but I recently was given a company vehicle and my wife is pregnant with our 1st child. No rear seat in the CR-Z for a car seat. My wife has a 2010 Maxima and I also have a '88 Toyota 4runner that I drive on weekends. The lease is almost up on the Maxima, so I'd like to get rid of one vehicle/payment.
