    If its as new..

I think its worth about $11,500-12K.

Where are they hitting ya at?

  • im_brentwoodim_brentwood Member Posts: 4,883
Geez... you gonna buy a dealership or what? :)

99 Civic will do $10K across the block if its that nice. So figure to shoot for $11,500 or so.

97 CRV? Strong deal. Those suckers can hit $11K across the block. If you'da said $12,500 I'd be proud of ya. $11,200? That's about wholesale!

'99 Lexus LS400 Black on black. It's in the Detroit MI area. 26k miles, heated seats, CD changer, moonroof, HID lights. The asking price is $38,990.

'98 Lexus LS400, black on black, located in Louisville KY, 37,708 miles, HID lights, Air suspension (don't really want this), moonroof, Nakamichi stereo, CD changer, asking price is $38,600 - prices seem to be a bit high in KY.

Finally - '99 LS400, black/black, 48k miles, heated seats, CD changer, moonroof, HID lights. This one appeals to me the most because of the price. It's in Silver Spring MD, and the asking price is $31,900.

    Thanks,
    Quentin

Do late model cars have any trade in value? My current car is an '86 oldsmobile delta 88 with 60,000 miles. It is in average to good condition.

I need a new family car,and need to trade in the old one. It's a 1994 Ford Explorer 4Dr XLT 4WD,120K miles, Dark Green, Leather, Alarm, Power everything, and all the standard stuff. I'd say it's in good shape. Could you please give me a trade in price that you are seeing on this type of vehicle.
    THANKS

I'd try to sell the Olds in the paper, it's probably not worth much on trade. If it's nice (and only 60k miles), you might be able to get $1500-2000 for it, I think (I'm in Chicago, we have a reasonably healthy market for larger, inexpensive, older cars here).
I'm not a dealer, but I do know not too many dealers are in need of cars older than ten years old.
  • mjordanszdmjordanszd Member Posts: 17
4wd, silver, most options (leather, cd changer, roof, htd seats, tow package), 26k miles. clean condition (wish i could convince anyone it merits excellent condition). the most i've been offered @ various dealers (central ohio) is $19,000. accurate? tia.
  • soberssobers Member Posts: 496
Thank you very much!! The dealer is stuck on $12200 for the 99 Civic. I guess we will let it go !!

I am considering a new car soon and am contemplating whether to sell my 99 Acura 3.2TL or tradeing it in. It is in excellent condition with 30,000 miles on it. The good thing about the car that when I originally bought the car I was able to purchase it at invoice price and currently only owe about 9500.00 on it. I know I could get more by selling myself.

Regarding message 4827, any idea what to expect when I take the Honda CRV to the dealer for a trade in?

    Thanks
  • qwallsqwalls Member Posts: 406
You can forget about the three LS400s I posted earlier. I found one closer that has the options I want. What do you think? '99 LS400 black/black in SW Ohio, 36,595 miles, Nakamichi stereo, cd changer, moonroof, heated seats, HIDs. Asking price is $38,836. What do you think? $36k?

    Thanks,

I own a 2001 Mitsubishi Galant GTZ. It's in perfect condition inside and out....not a scratch. I'm pretty tired of the car...already and ready to trade it in. What should I expect as a trade in value for my car. The car only has 11K miles on it.

I got the car on great financing so didn't make an effort to pay it off early, but owe under 19K on it still. I put no money down when I bought the car, because it was 1.9% for 5 yrs.

    Please advise.

I'm getting ready to buy and new car and I wonder what my old car is worth? 1996 Mercury Mystique
New brakes all the way around and new struts in the front last spring, v6, 5 speed, pw,pl,cc,ac,key less entry, power antenna, illuminated entry, heated power windows am/fm cass, tires decent inside fairly clean, outside few dings, scuffs and one 2" scratch. Everything works 83,000 miles, dark maroon, location upstate ny. Any info would be appreciated. Runs good.
  • stickguystickguy Member Posts: 53,336
I sold a '95 Mystique last April (also a V6 5 speed). The pros can give you a more definitive answer, but don't expect much on a trade. Mine was very clean, new tires, leather and 49K miles. I sold it privately, but the trade in offers were around 3K, maybe 3,500 on a push. Was able to sell it thru the paper for $4,950, largely because of the condition and low miles.

This is certainly got to be a car that you will do better selling privately to someone who needs cheap wheels. No new car dealer is likely to be interested in it.

Was a fun car to drive. Just a bit cramped inside.

Post it in the classifieds at www.contour.org

It's free, so it can't hurt too much.

I was looking for such a car 12 months ago.

    I "settled" for a 98 SVT Contour 8^)

I would like to know how much to expect on trade-in for a 1997 Grand Prix (red). 3.8 liter v-6, cruise, cd player, power windows and locks. High mileage 103,000. Overall in good condition. Thanks for any help.
  • im_brentwoodim_brentwood Member Posts: 4,883
I'd say to sell it yourself.

Wholesale on that car is, on a good day, $500 or so.

But, I think you can get $1,500-2K private sale..

    Bill
  • im_brentwoodim_brentwood Member Posts: 4,883
Well.. Assuming it is a V8... $19K is pretty decent. It wouldnt do much over that across the block, Maybe $20K...

Still, $19,500 would be a push if its just PERFECT (And I mean Perfect.. nonsmoker, all books and keys, tires "knee deep", No paintwork, no dings..etc..)

    What were you shooting for?

    Bill
  • im_brentwoodim_brentwood Member Posts: 4,883
Thats not that that bad a price. Figure it could do 10K+ across the block, + detail, +transport..etc...

I think you can buy it for $11,500 cash tho.

    Bill
  • im_brentwoodim_brentwood Member Posts: 4,883
Wow, you may just have a touch of equity :)

    Those new TLs are STRONG.

If its a good color and clean.. It ought to pull $19K-20K. Try for $20K, but $19,500ish is where I would be on it.

$22,900 in the paper, take $21,800... no less.

If ya paid invoice.. then in 3 years you lost $6K on a Luxury car. Not too shabby!

    Bill
  • im_brentwoodim_brentwood Member Posts: 4,883
OK.. I'll disregard the earlier ones :)

Lots of info, you can watch TV tonight, and even have some Ice Cream!

    hahaha

$36K? I think you can do better than that. If its at an Independent lot, or non-lexus dealer, shoot to be around $33,500 Maybe $34K. Those arent really breaking $31K across the block, (36K mile Black 99s)

If its "Lexus Certified" figure they have MAYBE $400-500 in the shop. But look at it.. does it have a new set of V-rated Rubber? $400-500.. Brakes? etc. And cost on that Warranty is $595, so take it from there.

    Bill
  • im_brentwoodim_brentwood Member Posts: 4,883
    Umm..

You may want to rethink how tired you are of it :(

I think we have a $15,000-15,500 car here. MAYBE $16K but that would be past the moon and the stars.

    Sorry...

    Bill
  • im_brentwoodim_brentwood Member Posts: 4,883
    Sorry I missed that!

I am thinking around the $12,000-12,500 range. The miles do hurt it quite a bit.

But Sobers may have a buyer for it!

    Bill
  • im_brentwoodim_brentwood Member Posts: 4,883
    Silver? GLX? 11K?

$18,000 is where I think it ought to be

$20,950 in the paper, and let someone beat you down to $20K.

    Bill
  • im_brentwoodim_brentwood Member Posts: 4,883
The Mitsu? If its nice, expect to get hit around $7,500 or so range,.... On these condition is everything. A lot of them are modified and not worth diddly.

On the Blazer, how many driveshafts does it have? :) 2 or 4?

    I.E. izzitta 2dubyaDee or a 4dubyaDee?

  • im_brentwoodim_brentwood Member Posts: 4,883
Dont shoot the messenger.. but I thinkwe're around the $1,000-1,500 neighborhood here.

Do what Tboner said.. Try contour.org and put it in there for (After you put it in the Schnechtady Gazette or Albany Times-Union..etc..).. say.. $3,450/bo. Grab the first $2,750 you can get.

I have a 2001 Lexus RX300 AWD. No navigation. I've had the car for 13 months and it has 17,000 miles on it. How much do you think I would get for it as a trade-in at a dealership?

    Thank you for your time.

My significant other is contemplating putting his 1993 Civic EX up for sale. It's a coupe, teal green w/ dark gray interior, 5-speed, rear spoiler, and the timing belt has been changed within the last 12,000 miles. Good tires, brakes, etc. Good AC...we know of nothing wrong with it. It has the exterior dings that you would expect of a 8-9 year old car but no paintwork. Interior is clean, non-smoker. We are in Atlanta.

What's a fair price for a private owner?

Also, what do you think about the new Maximas? We were driving the new Altima when the salesman started talking about $5000 off + 3.9% for 60 months or 0.9% for 48? Basically I could get a 2002 SE 6-speed with roof, bose, and cloth for $22,000 + the financing. Should I go used?

We will be needing a bigger vehicle and will be looking to trade in our 1996 Geo Prizm around Oct - Dec. of 2002. I know this is a bit of a ways away but was wondering if you could est. our possible trade in just for our planning purposes. Currently it has 47,800 miles on it and I only drive it about 250 miles per month maximum. It runs great - no real flaws mechanical or interior of any kind. The exterior is in good condition with only minor dings and scratches from normal driving wear. What do you think we should be looking at come Oct. for a trade in here? I would just go to the Kelley Blue Book site but we live in Tennessee and we were told that the dealers here don't use blue book values but something else. I just want to go in with my eyes open and know what seems fair. Thanks.

Ok guys, what's this worth, as in actual value (not wrecked value). My dad's girlfriend's oldest daughter just wrecked his truck. He wants to know what its worth to get an idea if it looks like its going to be totalled. Ok, here's the scoop. 2000 Toyota Tacoma V6, auto, green/tan, cruise, tilt, A/C, cd player, no pwr stuff, 52K miles, excellent shape before the wreck today. Oh and the truck is in Texas, he is in Alaska, long story, don't ask. Thanks.

BTW, just curious, but what's my hubby's truck worth now, he hates it (men!!) so may be trading it for a Ford this year (yes, I know he just bought it). 2001 Dodge Ram 2500, quad-cab short bed, white/gray, auto, 4wd, 5.9L V8, 15K miles, pwr windows, pwr locks, pwr/heated mirrors, AM/FM cass., tow pkg, alloys, excellent condition.

    Thanks.

My brother smashed up his 96 Blazer LS. It's black/gray cloth, automatic, V6, 4 door, 4WD, factory CD, a/c, tilt, power windows/locks/drivers seat, ~89k miles. It was in only fair condition (dings and scrapes, slightly ratty interior for a 96) before the accident (which includes wrecked front bumper, grill, lights definitely; fenders and hood look OK, drives fine).

I guess I'm wondering the value before the accident, and if the insurance company is going to total it. Any thoughts? Thanks.

I have a white 2000 Ford F-150 XL regular cab. It has a V6 and a 5 spd transmission, tilt and cruise, and aluminum wheels. It has 17000 miles. What is it worth? Trade in values have been between 8 to 10K.

Thanks. It's a certified Lexus, and this particular dealership seems to only have 1-2 LS400s at a time, and they seem to sell them as soon as they get them.... This is the first car I've seen with all of the options I want, and none of the ones I don't. What's the most I should pay without feeling ripped off? Assuming they even still have the car. The internet manager was off yesterday.

    Thanks,
    Quentin

I think you're looking at about $52-5700 on the Blazer. I watched about 4 of them sell in that ballpark at our last auction.

i was hoping to get a decent amount more than my payoff (19k), since i put almost 9k down on the purchase just 19 months ago. hard to believe that i've taken almost a 50% depreciation hit on a 2 year old vehicle. maybe i'll learn my lesson this time and use depreciation as a factor in my car-buying decisions.

if it's 19 - 19.5k at auction, is it realistic to try for 21-22+ in the paper? i've seen some dealer used ads for similar trucks in the 23-24k range, so assume they'll sell at 21-22.

My wife and I are considering trading in our Maxima to get a minivan. We would like to know what we can expect or accept as a trade-in offer for our car.

It is a 99 Maxima, GXE (the base model), Auto, Power steering/windows/locks/driver's seat, About 39k miles, new rear tires and was in an accident with the body work performed by a Nissan dealership.

Hey fellas you have helped me out a great deal in the past, and am wondering what you think a used 2002 Subaru WRX wagon is worth. Its Blue and has around 9k miles on it. It has the Premium sound package, cargo net, air filtration system, armrest extension, and the upgraded security system. Any ball park figures. Its cosmetics are in good shape, just a few dings here and there normal on a car with 9k on it. So any and all help would be much appreciated. Oh and its a stick as well. cheers
