Let's see -- add 9, divide by 3, plus 2,398 multiply by 5, then add 6 and subtract 2 .. that should come to around $29 and if I was going to sell it.. I would be asking $32,9 and cut that puppy from the herd so fast at $31, it would make your head spin ...
Terry.
BTW, I'm in Pittsburgh.... a drinking town with a football problem!!!
Thanks
Thanks
$26,500 .....??? That's waaaay below wholesale. A BMW dealer would have it in the paper for $34.
If this is a real deal vehicle, you would be crazy .. NOT to buy it, keep it clean for a year or even 6 months .. and sell it, and make money. "Stick Smick" .. .... l.o.l..
Terry.
You are in Bowling Green, KY .. just go buy a Vette. ... l.o.l...

What would be a good advice for someone who is fairly well off, but is not really into cars, and wants a used Jag?
Thanks again!
But, if has to be a Jag, the BANG for the buck would be a 00 3.0 or 4.0 S type. You can find real nice, real low mile beauties for the low $30's ... these are vehicles that had $45/$53,000 stickers 2 short years ago .. and make great buys right now.

Right color for Houston ..
Right options for Houston ...
Miles are stiff for Houston ...
Sounds like $17ish in Houston ....

2020 Acura RDX tech SH-AWD, 2023 Maverick hybrid Lariat luxury package.
With a premium pack .. at the auction, IF I had to, I would take that puppy right to $22,0 -- can't get em', can't find em' ..
So, then auction fee $225, transport $150, service $250, detail $100, stuff $75 .. I would have $22,800 in it -- and if I couldn't make $1,5/$2,0, I wouldn't bother --- low mileage nice cars are hard to find. So he certainly is priced right ...
Terry.
IOW - a stick shift.
I haven't looked at it yet, but I will wait till after I come back after vacation. If it's sold, fine, at least I have an idea what they are going for.
I'd like an idea of a fair price.
Thanks

Been lookin at this one sit in front of the Waffle House for the last month. It's an 1986 Indy Pace Car replica, convertible (new top), black interior, yellow exterior with special edition yellow rims (yuk) it is an auto (what wifey is lookin for) twin turbo hood but no twin turbo (whats up with that) cold air, all the power stuff looks decent but not a baby doll. Really needs a good cleaning, nice rubber, 91K asking $12,000. It's not what I was lookin for but if it starts to grow on me where should I hit him at.
Thanks Tom
86 red, auto, Convert with 55k did $10,9 -- the white with black with 58k did $12,9 .. and another white with 27k did $15,4 ..
The one you are looking at, is stiff in miles, but not for the year. That's about a $7,5/$8,0 vehicle and about a $9,5/$10,0 vehicle on the retail end, depending on what has to be removed or added... l..o..l... So, drop $9 at him and get a response.
Terry.
Right now every new/used car dealer and used only dealer has a handful of Neons available that are 2000 to 2002 model years. Most of those have under 40,000 miles on them at at retail they are hard pressed to get $9000 for the 2002's and $7000 for the 2000's. A 1999 manual transmission would be pushing it if they offered you $4,000 for it here locally as they would be lucky to get $5500 to $6000 on the lot even after full reconditioning and repair/check of the major mechanical systems.
If you are a smoker, forget all the above numbers. No dealer in town is going to give you more than $2500 real cash value for the car.
Remember, what dealers show you on paper for your trade against the alleged selling price of a car they are selling you is very different than the actual CASH selling price the car you are buying and the trade in CASH value they are giving to your car.
You can subtract some if the car was a smokers car. Add some if the car has FULL verifiable manufactures recommended maintenance records available as well.
Don't forget if you have a trade, some of the profit they have on the asking price of the car is going into the amount they show on the deal for your trade in.
Be forewarned, some dealers skip or gloss over the checks they are suppose to perform on a certified used car. Ask if you can go over the system check sheet with the dealers mechanic with you watching before you buy the car. Make sure you either know what you are looking at or bring someone along that knows how to check cars over while they are doing it. ANY good dealer will be willing to schedule a time for you to check the car out and once inspected finalize the deal while you are there. It will also give you a good chance to guage the competancy of the service department since that should be 50% of your decision as to which car to buy.

I've been offered $15,000. From KBB, Edmunds TMV, etc., that seems a little low. The car has never been hit, has good rubber(tires), and is blemish/door-ding free.
Thanks,
Josh
Dealer had it advertised for $14,500 on the lot and for $13,500 in the local AutoTrader.
What do you think they have in this car and what do you think they would be willing to let it go for?

I am looking for a trade-in value for my Blazer LT 4x4 with 31,500 miles. It is black with beige leather interior. Power heated seats, CD player, On Star, trailer hitch, remote keyless entry, NO sunroof. Vehicle is in very good condition and has never been smoked in. I live in the Cincinnati area.
I KNOW I can do better than trade if I sell it myself, but the last couple of vehicles I have tried that with have not worked out too well. So if my lumps aren't too bad with the trade, that's the route I'm going to take.
Thanks in advance!
31 klicks, not much help there .. but it's a LT, 4x4 and bun warmers. And just in case you get lost going up and down those hills there, you have the On Star .. l.o.l...
You are going to be in and around the $15's at trade time .. the miles will kick ya back some.
Terry.
Thanks for the info! Unfortunately, it kind of confused me even more than I already was! I know this has probably been talked about on this board a hundred times, but being a newbie, you'll have to excuse me.
There are just WAY too many places to get trade-in values and NONE of them agree! Both my credit union and nadaguides.com value this trade at around $18,500. The Edmunds trade value is around $18,900. KBB.com is around $16,175. And your source is somewhere in the $15's. Just makes it really hard to evaluate a deal ahead of time. You can get pretty accurate invoice and MSRP prices, but the whole trade-in thing is really a wild card. I guess ultimately the ONLY opinion that truly counts is from the guy that does the appraisal at the dealership!
Once again, thanks for your help!
Tat32
Whatcha think a good trade-in value for it?
$14,000 less $500 for the ding and less $500 for not being properly maintained. Don't be suprised if you get offered around $13,000 ACV for the car.
Three maintenance records are not nearly enough for a car that old. Assuming you bought it exactly two years ago June 2000, it should have had 6 to 8 oil changes. It also should have had the tires rotated twice by 12,000 miles and/or balanced. If you bought the car in 1999, it will have needed the cooling system drained and refilled at the three year anniversary and the brakes system bled out to remove the residual water that gets into the system at the wheels over time.
Any dealer looking at your maintenance and seeing only three records will just deduct for under-maintenance. No records at all and they also deduct for under-maintenance.
ACV=actual cash value
The credit unions, banks, and such work off books and info like , NADA, KBB, Edmunds works off info that they translate to a book or the internet .. which gets translated to you. Kinda like a bad love story in Spain... l.o.l..
These are just a gauge, a "ball park" figure, a number, to get an idea, before you get started. It's very tuff for the publications to be accurate on a quarterly or monthly basis, let alone a daily basis. I'm not knocking any of them, it's tuff enough for dealers to keep track of the market unless they are on it "everyday". You would be amazed on how many phone calls I get dealers in Detroit, Philly, Charleston, JAX ..etc.
I go to LOT's of auctions on a weekly basis from FL and up the East Coast and talk to about 5/10 dealers a week. Bill, also does alot of auctions in FL and that's what you need to do, to get the proper info ...
Now that I have bored you into a coma ..l.o.l... .. I was at the Columbus and Detroit auction last week, and watched a couple hundred 4x4's run through, so right now, 4x4's are a little on the "soft" side .. not that they are bad or SUV's are slipping, it's just the market .. it's summer, everyone is lookin' towards the Converts and some sporty stuff -- but most important, in your case is .. the miles. They are waaay too tall for the year.. which reduces the amount by about a "Ghee whiz" or so -- these are things that can't get translated into some of the info sites.
I hope this helps ...
Terry.
Lot's of miles going on, and on, and on, .. l.o.l. If, you want "real deal" money for the vehicle, it better be "real deal" all the way around.
Deep in rubber, air will blow you out and it better look and drive like a 98 .. that means few parking lot kisses and dents -- and those Mcdonald invasions .. gotta go. It seems like a $1,200 or so vehicle to me, but I'm not standing there.
Terry.
Cajun boy .. Huh ..? I have some good friends that live in Metaire. Well anyway, if it's as nice as you say it is .. lookin' 02 and such, then the ultra high $12's should do it all day long.
I hope this helps ...
Terry.
Let's see how much you like that humidity, it makes FL. feel like Anchorage in the summer time .. l.o.l.. seriously, I wish you well and great success ..!
Anyway, you have the right color.. on the exterior, but you know the routine .. clean, nice, yatty, yatty - in the $18's, miles are a little tall.
Good luck ..!
Terry.
They probably have at least, $12 and some change in it .. hit em' at $13 and see what happens, they already have it priced right .. there not trying to get rich on this one .. l.o.l..
Terry.
If it has one of those Automatic gizmo's in it ..if not, start sweating .. l.o.l.. then you should be in and around the $8ish figure, miles are waaay stiff for the year..
Terry.
Yours is a re-built turbo, no breeze, no paint ..uugggh, then to add a handshaker to it, Ouch. -- well you get the idea .. Sorry. Try, "asking" $1,900 on the retail side and take whatever .. and get whatever on the trade side, a Nick or so.?
Terry :-(
It's funny you mention all of the 4x4's you see going through the auction and the market being soft. I wonder if those were trades for OTHER 4x4s or are folks getting out of the 4x4s altogether? There certainly isn't a lack of new vehicles coming from the manufacturers. Of course, we do have the new wave of crossovers coming out. It's all about marketing.
I guess what I need now is for some freaky snowstorms to hit the midwest and bring that value up some!
Tat32
P.S. When do you sleep??????
Maybe your number is coming from the dealer .. if it's a Domestic dealer, this is a vehicle that doesn't fit in their "blend" .. the other problem is, the miles, way too tall for the year. And I guess I should drop in .. that it is a handshaker, no help there ..l.o.l..
But, if it's nice, clean, little or no invasions, the exterior show's no "gang warfare", deep in rubber and needs -0- .. I would be thinkin' more around the $16's --- living in the big "D" doesn't help much, it's Not the Import capital of the world Ya know ... l..o..l...
What's your thinkin' here Bill ..?
Terry.
It's just the market, and there is alot of folks buying bigger, taller, smaller, greener, bluer 4x4's ... But, you can bet your bippy, I will be buying every friggin' Forester, Yukon, Highlander, etc., I can get my hands on, come the start of the College football season .. l.o.l...

What should he expect for a trade in and private sale price? Thanks in advance.
Lotsa.. errr, I mean tons, no I mean a truck load of miles on this puppy .. These are still big sellers, plus you have auto and all the right stuff ..
So, if it's clean .. knee deep and looks like it has 25k on it and needs -0- .. then you should be in and around that $7,5/$8 figure on a trade ..
I hope this helps ...
Terry.
All these posts from H town .. hmmmm.
Well anyway.. Houston we have a problem -- We have a hi miler rolling around, with a handshaker with a sky view and a kmart interior that has been slapped hard in the behind .. and it sounds like a $9,5 vehicle.
Houston are you there ...?
Terry ;-))
Down Retail road .. great Ad, $15,9 in the paper and $14,7/$15,5 takes it home ..
Terry.
