So if it's deep in rubber and it's still sharp all the way around .. somewhere in and around the mid to high $9's .. they are not burning down any bridges right now ...
Terry.
Whoooo, you got some miles going on here partner. You need to get yourself a girl friend a little closer to home .. l.o.l...
Based on your description, it sounds like a nice vehicle .. the color may be a little harsh for the "regular" buyer (me, I love it) .. the warranty is the saviour here.
If that dude is "stand tall" .. lookin' 01, no kisses, the interior has been "hovered" over and the maintenance is 110% .. on a trade, in and around that $12ish figure, depending on the dealer ..
You may want to "open up" that market on your vehicle, if it's a nice one. Bimmer buyers are kinda wacky and DO understand the mileage deal. I would be advertising on Ebay and the NY and Boston area -- Also, your Ad better be a "fat daddy" .. 5/6 lines with all the good stuff.
Perhaps you are asking too much ..?
$17,900 in the paper and $15,9/$16,9 drop kicks it out of the garage.
Let us know, you have our interest ..
Terry :-)
Lets assume, it's a lighter color since we don't know were you are from, lets assume it's the 5.7 ... let's assume the tailgate isn't all scratched up and it has a real nice liner ..
Let's assume the interior is clean, no Mcdonalds invasions, the ashtray isn't overflowing with cigs and peanuts and no burns in the seats ..
Lets assume the exterior is limited to a few "kisses' ... let's assume all the service is 90% and the tires are about 10k or less ...
Lets assume the dealer likes Ya and hit's the truck around the mid to high $17's .. the miles are killing it.
Let's assume I go on to the next post ..
Terry :-))
If you were smart .. you would run away from home, and let the kids fend for themselves .. l.o.l..
I would assume, because the market is about 10 times bigger than the Okies .. the Philly area has about 200 dealers and between you and NY is another 200++ .. Yeah, I got to think you will get a better price.
Hey good luck .. I think you will like your new home ..!
Terry.
Let's see, it's a 96 Aurora with only 59k, that is stored in the winters -- don't you do that with Porsche's ..?
If it's a nice one, Ya know .. xtra clean and nice, no scratches, no dings, no dongs interior is fresh .. with all the right options, Bose, chromes, slider, heated seats .. this thing is gotta be worth $6,5+ .. $5,0 ..? I don't think so.
Even though it's an Old's, the Aurora's are still Very popular and in Demand, it's an easy $9,9 retail piece. Your Super needs to shop around .. sometimes dropping a domestic at a import dealers door, causes their noses to go up.
Terry.
Terry.
Also, do you think I should touch up the dings with touch-up paint before having it looked at for trade-in?
.. 4 ..
or an S .. ?
Terry.
Been a while I asked for your help, but I'd appreciate it once again.
Last month I was loitering around my Toyota dealership having my car serviced (the 30K mile service), and found a couple '01 Sequoia's on the lot. They were asking for ca. $40K (SR5 4x4 loaded, slider, leather, CD, ++ but here is the kicker... ca. 40K miles
So, my question for you Terry: what's these trucks doing at auctions these days ? What do you think a silver '01 4x2 SR5, leather, chrome wheels (no slider tho') w/30K miles, a couple scratches on the tailgate (old lady driving a Honda Accord backed into my wife at the mall), otherwise perfect. Had front brakes and rotors replaced at 25K miles (ouch !), needs new rubber tho'. This is spouse's daily ride. In So Cal...
Thanks, as always...
OR ..
a ECab .... ???
Terry.
Are you saying Canadian -- ca ..?
I'm sorry, I must not be awake yet ...
Terry.
The ultra clean, 01 low miler, A4 Quattro's, are doing "around" the high $21's at the block ..
The Bimmer 99 323i's, with low miles and ultra clean are also doing "around" $21 ..
I hope this helps ...
Terry.
Acura and Lexus have crawled their way to the likes of MB and the buyers get picky .. so the dealers get even more picky.
On a trade, if it's deep in rubber .. a nice one, should do around the $14's ..
Terry.
Thanks
I live in Mpls and there doesn't seem to be much interest in Nissan's (or it could be the 2wd)
Am looking to trade in for a '03 Forrester. I'm possibly buying through the Costco "wholesale" thing. Should this affect the amount I get for the trade?
Thank you in advance
It is in very nice condition - no dings, marks, paint touchups, etc.
Thanks
Thanks for your help
Hey Marysue, as equipment varies greatly on Saturn SL2s, please specify:
color
interior color and fabric
equipment (power anything? Sunroof? ABS? Alloy wheels? Spoiler? Fog lights?)
transmission type
your city/state of residence
4cyl ULEV with 5spd manual
15K miles, 15 months left on 3/36 warranty
Silver ext/black leather int
ABS, side airbags, keyless entry, moonroof, spoiler, 6 CD in-dash, steering wheel controls, 15" alloys
Single/no kids, car shows very well/like new if detailed, no dings in metal, pea-sized chunk removed from lower plastic trim on passenger side (road debris hit), typical Honda paint "chips" on hood (pinhead size), very clean inside, no stains/trash, driver's leather seat bottom has slight shine from wear, tires will need replacing in about 10-15K, brakes maybe 5-10K, all services, all recs, should be a certified used Honda shoe-in
Philadelphia area
$15,000 is my benchmark estimate for trade. Could I get more or am I expecting too much?
Thanks, Brian
A manual may seem out of place in, say, a family sedan but is it really going to kill the value of a 2 door with a somewhat underpowered 4 cylinder engine like mine? Yea, few people can drive manuals but it's a prudent choice with this engine IMHO.
Soooo, we have a 15k 01 Honda coupe .. with a handshaker. The color is right, the miles are fine but the "handshaker" will have a tendency to come back and bite ya.
It's not, that they are "weapons of mass destruction" ... it's just that most folks don't have a need, want or desire for em' .. with todays auto trans, they get almost the same gas mileage, the performance is as good, and sometimes even better, depending on the vehicle ..
You should be in and around the $14's on a trade, "could" see more cuz the miles are low and it's the right color. But if this was an auto .. you might be close to that $16 figure. The G man has the right idea.
Good luck and let us know ...
Terry.
realizing that it is only a generalization, do you think you get better trade in value at a dealer for the same make you are trading in??
In other words, is an Acura dealer likely to give me a higher number on my acura than a bmw, audi, etc?
These trucks are Very popular and "hot" on the market for the "right" owner, so if it's nice, clean, all there .. you should be in and around the high $10's, low $11's on a trade ..
I hope this helps ..
Terry.
Lot's of variables here .. as a rule, a Import dealer "should" know what his competitors are doing and their values.
But, if a dealer is like on the "small" size .. 50/70 units a month, they "may" not want to put out "large" money on a Xtra clean vehicle, cuz their inventory is too big now, but if they are "connected", they can find a wholesale buyer that will "step up" and complete the deal ...
Across the broad market, Acura dealers know what a 21k 99 A4 2.8 Quattro is worth .. a Honda dealer will know what a 96 BMW 328i is worth with 70k .. or should. That's why it helps to shop around.
Terry :-)
Where the heck is Bill?
April/June of next year, keep it lookin' and running 100% .. and they drop kick it off the driveway for $4,0 then .. it's not going too depreciate any farther (unless they stack up the miles) .. what's to lose ..?
Terry.
Also, I am buying a new CR-V EX A/T 4 wheel drive. Would you expect it hold up better on reasle in 2 years than the Camry? Do you think $800 off of retail is reasonable (about $1000 over invoice)and no EXTRA dealer add-ons or packs. They seem to be very popular and getting top dollar.
here's the Camry details:
Arizona
4 door
white
A/T,
p. seat, ABS, alloys
very clean
no accidents, 2 "very minor" dings, one on lower rear of drivers door, and one at left rear top of fender...extreme rear top (no idea how this happened) both touched-up with matching touch up paint, but still visible.
recent tires, brakes, filters, etc
40,500 miles
Hope i've given enough detail.
Thanks for your advice.
I have a feeling this is going to be the first car I sell privately. I believe I could sell my Accord quickly for $16K, maybe more if I use some elbow grease to get this thing looking as close to new as possible.
Since the car is in excellent shape, clear title and has a sizable chunk of warranty left, it doesn't raise questions/doubts...you either want it or you don't. Therefore, I might try the eBay route since it suits that type of buyer.
Thanks again.
$16K sounds plenty reasonable for that car. Especially if a coupe buyer doesn't like the look of the new Accord but is willing to buy used if it looks like new.
Got another request for you from a friend of mine.
'95 Cadillac SLS
Cream/Off White color
115K Mi. (Ouch!)
Pretty much loaded, but no roof.
So. Cal area.
Condition is clean, I'm sure there's a few minor kisses, but the paint's glossy, interior's clean. (He doesn't like McDonalds.
Please do Trade & Retail prices. I know it's going to hurt, but he got the car as a gift from the in-laws, so any money is free money.
Thanks!
No slider on a Seville, is kinda like wearing tennis shoes to the prom .. it don't look too good. Bose ..? heated seats ..?
The color is a help here .. so what can I say, if the vehicle can be detailed inside and out, looks 99ish and deep in rubber .. on a trade, in and around $2,5/$3,0. If you go down Retail Rd. try $5,900 and let the nice cheerleader down the street grab it for $4,5/$5,5
Good luck ...
Terry.
So based on your description, it sounds nice and clean, plus it has new rubber .. on a trade in and around $16,5/$17,0 .. the miles are the only thing that may hold it back.
Terry.
Thanks again!
Miles are ...ok, there just seems to be alot of em' - base XE right ..? .. on a trade, around $6/$6,5ish.
Terry.
Terry ;-)
This one has no miles for the year .. so if it's a nice one, you should be in and around that $22ish area on a trade ..
On the retail end - In the paper, for $26,9 and let some nice college professor buy it for $25,7/$26,5.
I hope this helps ...
Terry.
You need to jump on that thing .. it will do all of $26 at any auction in the country, let alone Dallas ..
If you can grab it for $27 and any change, grab it ..
Let me know on this one ...
Terry.
Terry ;-)
audi a4 /yr 2000/ manual/fully loaded/excellent condition go for at the dealer auction?
thanks
But ....
Is it a 1.8T
Or .. is it a 2.8
Quattro ....?
Terry.
Power sunroof?
Alloys (what size)?
Leather, cloth or vinyl interior?
Manual or power seats?
It's a 01, 40k Sequoia 4x4 SR5 ... right ..?
And they are asking $40 grand .. right ..? (ca) .. and they are willing to take $36 right .? (ca)
Hmmmm, that's a tinge on the high side. Let's say it's a baby doll, all the services are 100%, no el dingo's, no el dento's .. Ya know, a Nice one.
With all those miles, if it was his own Mothers, he wouldn't drop $32/$33 into it .. not when he can snatch one at the auctions for $29/$30 ..
You should be able to buy it for "around" $33 ..
Now, on the 2WD with 30k .. they dropped probably $27, maybe $28 into it ..
The Sequoia is a nice vehicle and is extremely popular and they are kinda still new in the market. But, Not that new.. l.o.l...
Terry.
Trade in value on a 2000 Toyota Camry LE. I expect it to be low, judging that over all values have dropped on used, and Toyota seems to have flooded the market with rental returns, and the incentives on new Camrys.

No slider, no leather ..right..?
The color is right .. the miles aren't, it has ABS, wheels, newish tires, p. seat and some baby kisses that are hard to see .. the miles are tall, and are going to make the deciding figure ..
If it looks and drives like 20k .. clean all the way around, it will do the high $10's, maybe the ultra low $11's on a trade4.
I hope this helps ...
Terry.
