What, is this coming from the Swiss family Robinson ..? Man that's a ton .. and you are trading what ..? with how many miles ..?
You need to start using those Sky miles from Delta .. what can I say, it's worth around $7 on the wholesale side, maybe $10ish on the retail side. Sounds like you have 2 nice vehicles now, miles are stiff on the Lexus, but it should run another 50k+, at least you know what you have ..
What kind of figures do they want for the S40 .?
Terry.
Terry.
I need the options, color ....
And ...
The Miles ----- you can always borrow some from the Volvo and the Windstar.
Terry.
So, on a quick sale .. $16,900 in the paper and $15,5/$16,5 drives it off.
Terry.
ps I have the traction control, heated seats, lamp washers and cd changer.
A fair deal on the retail side would be around
$6,0 with it needing -0- ...
How do I come up with these figures ..? It's based on barometric pressure and the alignment between Jupiter and Mars during the falling of leaves on Birch tree's
And also, I send alot of vehicles up to the Milwaukee and Philly area, and do alot of the auctions up there come October through April .. the Birch tree thing is alot easier though.
Terry :-))

Guys - 2001 ML320 with 25,000 miles, Desert Silver(metallic), tan leather, bose, cd changer, xenons, and DVD entertainment system (LCDs in the headrests of the driver/passenger seats). In very good shape (a ding or two that should come out). In Dallas, TX and he is asking $33,000. This price looks good to me - is it?
Thanks
Adam
1998 328 silver, 6-cd, auto, leath, slider, prem packg, 56K mi for 18,900
or
1997 528, dark green (blah), leath, auto, prem packg, 47K mi (with a little left on the CPO warranty) for 21,900
Thoughts?
Back in March you two had my 95 Explorer pegged at $6K wholesale. As I mentioned before, at that time I wasn't able to pull the trigger on a having a car payment. Now that I've come to grips with the idea, has my Explorer really lost $1500-$2000 in the last six months?
This may put me back into denial. I know you are only the messenger, but tell me it's not so.
The vehicle I am looking at is a 2003 GMC Yukon. Since it is also a domestic can I expect it to fall as fast as the Explorer or are the Explorers particularly bad because of the tire fiasco?
Even though it is not what I wanted to hear, I do appreciate the sanity check.
1999 EX V6 Black, 37,000 miles, Good condition, New Tires, CERTIFIED
What do you think ? Thanks in Advance!!
Terry :-)
Ok, it's worth $15 grand, does that make you feel better ..? .. l.o.l...
Here's the deal Lucille .. I just bought 3- 97 Exploder 4dr XLT's in Detroit , with around 40/45k, 2WD's, sliders, power seats both sides, mach stereo with the 12 pack cd in the console, tires fresh, had maybe 9/10K on em', keyless and 2 dings about the size of a dime on 2 of em' .. other than that they needed -0- .. paid on the average of $7,4 .. Sooo, what can yours be worth .?
Actually, yours sounds a really nice retail piece .. so grab the $6ish from your buddy at work .. and grab that Yukon, they are stronger than the 101st Airborne in a fire fight.!
I hate being the bad guy ....
Terry :-(
Ok there slick, it's the Right color and the miles are fine .. plus you have the Disney package ..
Dealer probably paid
"around" $28ish for it. So by the time they do a little service, certify it, make it look nice, a little this a little that .. they have close to $30 in it .. so the price seems fair, but start him at $31,5 and see what happens.
Terry.
I do feel a little bit better because of your Yukon comment. I really like the vehicle. And as you guys have said "buy what you like". I just didn't want to take a royal beating on it later on.
Thanks bud. I appreciate the advice.
It's a black convertible.
Carl
The Volvo has a TON of miles on it, only thing I can think of is the previous owner was a state-to-state salesman or something. I can get it for $9200. Is it true that these things are a nightmare to sell and to keep running?
If so I agree that I am better off keeping the Lexus and the Civic. At least I know that those are 2 pretty reliable cars that would be pretty easy to sell if the need arose.
Actually the Volvo's will run til' doomsday, there is a ton of em' out there with 180/200/220k+. It's just that the S40 is not Volvo's best design and the "style" has run a little Cold, they tried to compete with the Passats and such, that ain't happening. That's a "look" issue ...
But, if it checks out with Volvo (run the Vin# through a Volvo dealer) and Carfax is ok, then the price is not too bad at all ... and Volvo's as a whole, are pretty easy to sell and maintanence is limited.
Let's see what happens ...
Terry.
Zman3, I hear a rumor that the Tahoe/Yukon is getting a "rework" for 04... may be worth looking into... haven't seen any spy pics yet...
As it stands now, the Denali's and Yukons are Very Hot and still get big $$ .. leave it up to GM, to mess up a great thing.
On the other side of that coin, it's the Expeditions and especially the Excursions, that are runnin' out of steam, no more Excursions in 04, can't compete with the GM product -- but, in all fairness, what was Ford thinkin' ...? Wait 40 years to enter that Suburban market, Oooooh scary.
Zman .. kinda keep in mind, if Bill was inside of $500 of your Exploder since March, then I congratulate him. The time when most vehicles go through the biggest transition is that April/December gig, they can can go anywhere. Converts going and coming .. 4x4's coming and going .. and the rest trying to keep up, or down..l.o.l.

What would be trade in on a 2002 Kia Sedona EX
Two tone (dark green/tan)
Leather
Sun roof
ABS
Auto lights
(all options except spoiler)
5,500 miles
Xlnt condition of course (show-room still -- no scratches, etc.)
Gotta know...
I just watched a few of em' run last week with 5/10k all loaded up like yours .. so, on a trade, super clean, the ultra high $14's, low $15's on a trade ...
Terry.
As for GM, I think the Yukon is one of the sharpest SUV's out there. Better than Ford or Toyota. And they are finally getting their interiors in order, IMHO. If they go and screw it up in '04 and make it look like the Avalanche they ought to get a kick in the behind. The Avalanche is close to an overgrown Aztek in the looks dept.
Take care.
I see you are from PA and it's black, a big winner in that Yankee country, so there's some help.
Jag buyers are picky, picky, picky especially the converts .. no kisses, you should be able to caress the sides, the seats better look like they have been hovered in, service is 110% and IF, the vehicle "glows" in the dark, then on a trade .. in and around $25, the miles will be the bandit here and if it's a little on the hinky side, start deducting.
Don't shoot the messenger, I know that alot of the books show this and that, but reality is a nasty thing sometimes.
By the way, You will flat Love that new SC .. I put about 2k on a white pearl this year, not bad for a [non-permissible content removed] car. .l.o.l..
I hope this helps ...
Terry.
i ..? iS ...? iC...?
Your killin' me ..........
The five has low miles for the year .. sounds like it could be a good deal, I bet $20 and change will take it home..
Terry.
Believe it or not, these old boats still sell well .. IF, it's a nice one, clean all the way around .. then start thinkin' around $3,5 .. if it's ruff here and there and needs new sneakers, start thinkin' $2ish ..
Terry.
I would think $17ish ...
Terry :-)
What's the options, does it have a prem pack .?
Slider ..? 6pac cd..? leather ..? color ...?
Need some help here ...............!
Work with me .... Or go to your room ...!
Terry :-)
And please, let us know ..!
Terry.
Will I do better/worse at carmax?
please help!
What do you think ? Thanks in Advance!!
Got a call from a dealer today (non-MB) about a 2002 ML 320 (silver/grey leather), third row seat, heated seats, bose/cd changer, tow, sunroof) with 12,000 miles. Price - $33,500. It is flawless and I am going to jump on it tonight.
Thanks
Adam
$33,5 is Extremely low, to say the least. The vehicle can easily do $31/$32 at any big auction in the country.
If this beauty checks out ... GRAB IT.!
Good luck and Let us know .. !
Terry.
Please let me know what I should expect when I trade it to a dealership. I am looking to buy a 2003 Pontiac Grand Am GT1. Also, if you have any thoughts on the 03' Grand Am GT1 I would love to hear them.
Thanks!
Based on what your telling us, if it's nice and clean all over, then it should see the high $8's, low $9's on a trade, depending on where you live.
I'm not much of a Grand Am fan .. lets just hope they get this one right.
Terry.
Yours is 00 and the miles are ok, plus it's a EX. So if it's clean, no meteorite hits, no gang warfare, no unpleasant kisses from the visits at the mall .. then on a trade, you should be in and "around" that $21 figure on a trade.
Terry.
Ok, we got a 99 V6 EX Accord, with new rubber and 37k. It's black, so it must be a Yankee vehicle.
They probably have around $15,5 in it with the certify and service .. I would think $16,5/$16,9 will take it off their hands.
Terry.
Color is dark purple, body condition would be fair to rough. (Paint chipped heavily on front facia and hood, couple scratches on back bumper. Interior is average. Could be detailed out pretty easily except for the paint chipped front facia and hood
That is probably the biggest factor going on ...
Most folks Just LOVE their 99 Acura TL with 66k and the paint was scraped 2 years ago on the lower door panel, they forget about how Aunt Jenny's dog, punctured the rear seat ... they have forgotten about that small dent on the trunk, when the golf partner bounced his T1V's ball to show off the "compression" .. they get blind to the 10 dings down the passenger side, because they park in a employee parking area and the lady next to it, hits it everytime cuz' she needs to lose 75lbs .. l.o.l...
Most folks just go blind to all these little "love taps" after they have had a vehicle for awhile .. it's kinda like that old couch to them, it's super comfortable and it's still, "like new" -- to you and I, it needs to go to the Salvation Army (ever watch Frazier?.l.o.l.) ..
I have posted about 1,873 times .. get it detailed before you try to trade it ..
When this dirty, smelly scratched up vehicle shows up .. dealers aren't stupid, they know that has been the history of that vehicle .. ashtrays full, tires worn, coke cups stuck to the rear seats, you open the trunk and it's filled with the same junk, that was in it 3 years ago, when they traded the Accord, the only difference is now, it's had a chance to roll around a little more, and breed .. and let's not forget that little bitty star on the windshield, that has been there since the last trip to Disney World in 00 ..l.o.l...
Dealers are lookin' for a vehicle that can "stand tall" .. all the service records, deep in rubber, the scratches were touched up by a Pro when it happened, no oil stains in the trunk, those nice little red stains in the carpet have been removed, the day it happened .. a vehicle that "shows" pride of ownership, waxed and cleaned not once every 18 months, but perhaps every 3 months.
Kinda remember, the dealer is trying to sell you his vehicle .. you should also be trying to sell yours to him .. but wrecks don't sell well. Just cuz' it says Benz, BMW, Audi don't mean squat, unless it has been cared for.
Cared for, doesn't mean runnin' it through the local Scratch O' matic car wash down the street.
If you want to sell yours .. make it look 100% , I just love those statements from customers -- "it just needs a bath" .. ok, where.? Niagara falls.. .l.o.l..
Terry.
Very low stress Lincoln dealership ("here are the keys, take it home to show the wife . . ").
Here is their story (which seems to make sense) . .took the car on a trade for a Navigator (apparently they are in the top 3 monthly for Navigator sales in the US). Left it on the lot for a week or two and their used and/or walk the lot clients weren't interested - they either wanted a used Navigator or a cheaper car.
So they placed an add in the Dallas News and the morning it appeared had six msgs before they opened. . .the F&I guy said they priced it low to move it - "for the money this is costing us we could have three cars out there would sell in a week so we want to move it".
The Carfax and VIN number checked out fine as did the body for work . . .
Closed last night - smooth transaction, didn't try to uplift anything and found financing cheaper than my credit union - 4.89%.
They were so laid back they forgot to ask me for my down payment - lol. They called this am and asked about the $5000 check! I said I would drop it by today - they said no worry, enjoy the weekend and bring it by on Monday!
Altogether a pleasant experience.
Terry - thanks for the multiple quotes and helping me.
