I have the 2000. Concorde LXI with 69.000 km on it and I still have the original pads and rotors. I was in the dealership two weeks ago and they said the pads are 30 % and it's time for a change. If your dealer said that is "normal maintenance" how do you call mine?
I drive my car everyday 50-70 km. usually on the highway. I had a big trip in last summer when I went to Prince Edward Island. (I’m living in Toronto)
So far I had no problem with my slate beauty I love to drive it and if I can say that: there is no other car on the road like the Concorde! The new one with the LHS grill and the back... well that’s the other story. If I have to buy this car at the present I don't think I could. The old looks are much nicer, elegant, and I still don't understand why the DC did change the look. The new look it's just not for me. If DC will go back with the old face I will buy the Concorde again! Until I'll try to keep this one as long as I can!
Happy motoring for everyone!

Anyway, I've got just under 33K mi on my '99 and brakes are original - 'tho I don't know how much longer they'll last...I should get them checked!
OTTOWRKR ***** KEEP BUILDING THE BEST LOOKING CARS IN THE WORLD.
"OTTOWRKR ***** KEEP BUILDING THE BEST LOOKING CARS IN THE WORLD" -we try ;-))
I will say that on mine, the pads do not show any dust at all on the wheels, and I'm assuming the pads are OEM whether original or replaced.
Re: Looks of later models - I don't like the looks of the newer Concorde as well as the pre-'01 (or is it '02?) Concorde. I also always liked the looks of the '99 - '01 Concorde better than the LHS. Just personal preference.
And Ottowrkr - I posted a question to you many months ago on the 300M forum about the possibility of transplanting an electroluminescent gage cluster from a 300M or LHS into my Concorde. You replied that you thought it would work - that you had seen something similar tried - but that there might be some gaps or something. Your comments were right on. I did it. It worked great - 100% functional (and the vehicle's odometer reading is stored in the power train computer, so that reading was retained). Looks fabulous, especially at night. Some gaps - but totally unnoticeable unless you point the gaps out to someone. I got a lens (or whatever you call the part with the plexiglass window in it) for an '03 that will close that gap up even better (haven't actually put it in yet).
This brings up another question - the '03 Concorde gages look similar to the previous 300M and LHS gages. Are the new Concorde gages also electroluminescent? I saw an '03 rental car, but did not see the lights turned on. The background was black with white lettering. Could that have been EL?
My wife has a 2001 Concorde and I would love to get a white gauge cluster for her car. May I ask where you guys got yours and how much $$$?
BTW, I like the front end of both my wife's 01Concorde and my 99LHS. They are both unique and striking, IMHO. My 99LHS still looks fresh after 4 years.
toms99 - I got the gages from:
Stephen Jackson, 800.547.4851 ext 235, Foster Auto Parts, 10355 se Foster Rd, Portland,OR 97115
steve@fosterauto.com
$200
I don't know if I lucked out and they just happened to have a cluster from a totaled '99 LHS sitting on the shelf when I asked, or if they have more. Very nice to deal with - they have their act together. The whole deal was by long distance - I'm in Virginia and found them on the internet.
I can't guarantee that any year LHS gages will fit any year Concorde. As it turned out, the mounting support for the plexiglass window/hood is shorter (front-to-back) on the LHS than on the Concorde (dash on LHS is more compact, Concorde dash sticks out a little further), so it fit leaving a gap that isn't noticeable to anyone unless you point it out to them. If it had been the other way (i.e., less space in the Concorde), there would have been a major fit problem. There is the option of swapping the window/hood from the Concorde over to the new gages, but they are shaped differently and parts of the outer gages would be hidden and it wouldn't look good.
I think you would be safe because I suspect that any LHS package will be more compact (front-to-back) than the Concorde package, but it will have to be your risk.
BTW - Foster Auto Parts does give you either 30 or 60 days (I can't remember which) to return for full refund, no questions asked, so that would remove the risk.It was plug-and-play for mine. I would get a gage from the same year LHS as your Concorde, but it may not matter.
www.eissbrothers.com; $105 w/ shipping; or call 1-800-698-3477 ask for Cory. I also bid on one on eBay but it got sniped at the last seconds (> $100 + shipping, so Eiss Bros. was a better deal). TIP: When you use the auto salvage search engines, search for both instrument cluster AND speedometer (separately) -- found many more results with speedometer. Also note that the cluster is the same from the 300M AND 98-01 LHS. Also note that there are NO (or maybe you will have to pay more) guarantees that these salvage clusters work - so CAVEATS!!
LHS vs Concorde: I thought that the LHS was the 'best buy' of the 3 (LHS, 300M, Concorde)- with 3.5L, fancier stuff inside - but I liked the looks of the 'Corde best...and still do.
ash tray and when pressed "traction off" is lit on
the desplay panel. Does it mean I have it?
Sorry for this stupid question. Maybe there is a different way to find out for sure if I have it?
Thanks
By the way I fell in love with the car. I can`t wait to go home (work!!!) and drive a few miles!
'86 which served me for several years without any problems and I was happy with it until I purchesed
the Concorde. I will not consider changing my id
because of the sentimental thing (he,he,he)
Anyway, thanks for your response.
The color is tan with black leather. I bought it
in Houston,TX and drove to New York.
One happy bunch but with a tinge of sadness: no more LH models from ottowrkr.
The trunk is so huge that smaller items dance all over the trunk. The cargo net is a great idea but I have '98 LXi. If not anybody has a different idea how to keep smaller items in place?
I was supposed to get my LTD on the 10th, but it hasn't arrived yet. It could show up anytime now, and of course I'll let you know when I finally get it.
BTW, I'm glad to see this topic picking up...I can't keep up with the 100 posts/day over at the 300M forum, although they are a great bunch of people.
Regards,
Brian
Heat and Air still work. Is it something internally that would take a new climate control unit?
Have 125000mi on the car it has been excellent.
Problems have been Two or Three radios, Fuel injector went bad and required a new computer.
Thank you very much.
riv86 - not sure if there is any auto sensing device (probably not) just the usual groove in the pads to indicate wear.
06mike - mimi919 had a 99 with 78K on the clock and has made posts over the years above. Be sure to do the carfax thing and maybe ask if you can have it inspected by a 3rd party 5* dealer.
peva - finally got the time to install the EL cluster - looks (and works) great! Thanks again for the idea and instruction.
Now I can go for grocery shopping without worry that all my stuff will dance all over the trunk.
tuckpana - glad you were able to find and fix quickly (and inexpensively!).
I have to wait until Tuesday to pick it up!
You always enjoy more something you have to wait for

What a price I pay to uphold truth, justice, and the American way.
Think about timing belts (100k miles on the maintenance schedule). You don't know if they were done previously (probably not), so that is a predictable expense - but put that in your budget. Being an LXi, that would be the bigger engine, so it is not interference, so if you ignore the timing belts, the worse that would happen is you would get stranded somewhere unexpectedly - no engine damage though. (FYI - the smaller 2.7L engine is interference, but has timing *chain* instead of belts - otherwise I would never have bought it.)
Have the transmission fluid and filter changed - with genuine Mopar ATF-4 (not Dexron with an additive - like every shop will try to talk you into - or would just put in without telling you). Good insurance for the tranny.
Check the operation of the electric windows real well - some problems with those - if any hint of problems, use that for leveraging a better price.
Point being, you can't be sure if you have them or not (except on the fronts and then only if you KNOW they are the originals), so it would be a mistake to rely on that to tell you when you need new pads (for obvious reasons) if that's what you have in mind. The only time to rely on tell-tales is if you know for sure if you have them.
Only two more days did you find out if its steel or sapphire? both look really good especially with the chrome rims they are standard on it or did they get nixed by %&* usc @#$.
Seriously, I only know it's a blue Limited. It's been kind of fun to wait and wonder, huh?
