The invoice on the car is 50,000 and the dealer's original price was 57600 but after I got some quotes he has come down to less then 53,000. Can I do better on the price? What should be a fair offer? My father is also interested in purchasing an extended warranty and the dealer quoted $2245.00 for the lexus 7 yr 100000 mile platinum warranty (0 deductible) Can we do better on that as well?
I also noticed that today's Wall Street Journal had a Lexus addvertisement with the December to remember sales event starting Nov 28-Jan 2. It does not mention any prices but was wandering if Lexus itself is offering some kind of rebates etc to dealers to sell more cars (besides the hold back)
Appreciate any help.

I am anticipating buying in December or January and can use any tips any of you can offer. I'm excited!
First ordered the car in July 98, firmed it up in Sept, 99 w/deposit. Dealer, Barrier Porsche, sold MY car when it arrived without even calling me. Denied having deposit and then refunded it by mail two weeks later.
Ordered second time through Carrera Motors in Bend Or, FULL deposit this time. Same story, dealer even changed car specifications knowing they wouldn't sell it to me when it arrived. Refunded my deposit.
Internet, the wave of the future.
The delivery was made to an intersection a short distance (2 miles) from my house. The trailer was too big to be driven into my neighborhood, or it would have been delivered to my driveway. The transport driver was kind enough to drive my old car home and I returned him to his truck in the new car.
The best price quotes I received were in Southern California. Dealers in Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Kansas and Colorado were thousands more, even with the transportation costs of $650. Lots of competition in LA, I guess. My local dealer has not given me any grief with the 1000 mile maintenance. Although I've heard Las Vegas dealers won't trade cars with LA dealers cause the LA dealers "steal" too many sales from them over the internet.

Looks like the LS430 is about to look like a S-series.
Having said that, I would love to see the LS take the design direction indicated in the article.
So you can see that the car was never at the dealers place, but at some meeting, if we are to believe the story.
I am very much interested in the '05/'06 model of the LS, at which time I will be in a position to buy it brand spanking new... Cross my fingers... I fully anticipate a freshened exterior and a huge HP engine. Maybe a de-tuned V8 making 350+bhp.
Is this wishful thinking or probable ? I guess I'll have to wait and see in a couple years from now.
Let's also remember that Toyota is a powerhouse financially and can do whatever they want. If they have broken even or made money on the capital outlay on the LS430 already (a good bet particularly given the better than expected sales and favorable exchange rate) its all the more possible. They also want Lexus to be more successful outside of the US borders, particularly in Europe where they are warming up. They have more than $25bln in cash, great results and are a Wall Street darling. They may be going for the jugular here given MB reliability issues and 7-series styling miscues.
Dealers will never tell you what is going on if such a big move is planned. They need to keep the sales chain going particularly this early in the model year.
GX470 brochure - not surprised - The 2001 LS430 brochure was also hard to get. They make great cars but when it comes to marketing they need more training.
Lastly how much Lexus is discounting the LS during the december to remember sale event?
The dealer was quite trustworthy for someone who did not know me. I'm 1200 miles from the dealer. We had several phone calls and many emails, so trust ensued.
Still, my radio reception seems O.K.
I was looking for other, non-Lexus leasing sources so that I can have something to compare the Lexus lease with.
I haven't found anyone else that leases automobiles.
Is there somewhere I can find such alternative leases?
Earlier in the week I got the story about how they really "do it up right" when someone buys a car from them. Yeah, right -- they couldn't even find the keys for three weeks. And, this is an Elite dealer!
I'd say you are just as safe buying a car over the internet or phone as local. After all, they aren't more competent just because they are nearby. At the very least, do it so that you'll know how much you should be paying.

to replace a side view mirror on a 01 LS430.
maybe not even the whole mirror. the mirror is fine, just a little piece of the out the other part broke off. thanks so much
3731: I was always concerned that my mirrors would strike the garage door frame. The Park Assist isn't sensitive enough to resolve the problem, so now I retract the mirrors before entering and leaving the garage.
