Looking at another F-150, thought I'd get your thoughts on it. Here's the stats from what I can tell.
1999 Ford F-150 Lariat 4x4 with off-road package Supercab Flareside
located in Michigan
Auto transmission
6 disk CD changer
chrome push-bar
bedliner and hard tonneau cover
87k miles
5.4 liter V8
dark blue (almost black) exterior and grey leather interior
exterior and interior look good from pictures
new tires and brakes
Curious what a good private party price would be as a buyer.
What happened?

It's super clean. No dents or dings, no scratches. Still smells new.
I would like to see how it will do at trade in and retail.
It's in Farmington Hills, Michigan
It pales in comparison to my husbands boo-boos this year.

that makes it a grand total of ... 32 cars since 1996.
Wait ........
2001 Mazda Protege ES
That's 33 cars since 1996 ....
Man, we need another hobby.
Oh crap .....
2004 Honda Odyssey ....
That's ... aww forget it ...
TOOOO MANY!!!!!
I'm going to rehab ...
1978 Mercury Cougar- First car; bought it from my cousin for $50 at age 17.
1986 Ford Escort- Transport during senior year. Grandma's hand-me-down.
1989 Acura Integra- Bought once I got a "real" paycheck in the Air Force.
1992 Acura Integra- Impulse buy. Financially disastrous decision on E-4 pay, but I forgot about money every time I drove it.
1978 Toyota Corolla- The Integras' winter beater. Cheaper than snow tires.)
1993 Chevy C1500- The less said about that pile of salt the better. Owned it five months.
1994 Honda Accord- Still have it. 150,XXX miles.
1989 Volvo 740- For Sale
Soon...
1998 Volvo S70 (if someone would buy my 740...Mrs. Lance's condition for buying.)
BTW, cheapest quote I got for a headliner around here was $225.00.
2002 Toyota RAV4 4-WD, silver metallic, auto, air, pwr locks, cruise, windows, CD, keyless entry, alloy wheels, roof rails, just under 48,000 miles
I am afraid I will get dinged because the truck has been in 2 accidents. I rear-ended someone once ($6000 damage) and somebody tapped me on the back once (only $500). All has been fixed, and there is literally not a scratch on it now. Interior is flawless, too. However, I know that accidents really affect trade-in value.
I am in the Detroit area, so not as many Toyotas here as other places. I also plan to be trading at a Lexus, BMW or Audi dealer. Does that matter in terms of trade in value?
Any idea what to expect? Thanks for your help.
Terry.
Terry.
So we got this Lariat Supercab thing going on with the big V8 and the 4x4, we have a nice cover and some push the bushes stuff to go with, miles almost hitting 90k, color is kinda ho-hum, but we have new stoppers and new round things and we live in the land of the Detroit Pistons ...
"If" it's nice, looks-feels and drives like 50k and it needs -0-, then the dealer probably hit it in the tall $9's maybe the low $10's .. probably not a bad truck, but most dealers don't have a home for it, plus you guys have that summer thing happening so 4x4's aren't quite as hot as they were 6/8 weeks ago .... I would think $12,5 would be a fair *asking* price and the $11's gets it a new home ....... whats he asking ..?
Terry.
Careful, big guy.... anonymousposts is a lady, methinks. My kinda girl, though...
The wife, on the other hand, basically requires an EZ-out if I want her to switch cars. Lancer knows what that's like.
Having made the switch, she's always happy with the new car. Plus, this kind of loyalty to, say, a banged-up no-sale-blue 150k miles 4sp manual 1989 Pontiac "LeMans"... in the end bodes well for sticking with an aging husband...
Oh dear, how we do run off-topic sometimes.
Happy father's day, dudes!

Hey Terry,
Thanks for the value on it. The truck is actually selling private party. He's asking 10k for it, but will take 9.8. I thought that was a pretty good price, but wanted to see what you thought. Might have to check into it further if he's got it priced that low. Has me wondering if it's a really good deal or if there's something wrong with it. The guy "says" it's in great shape. I'll let you know.

WOWZA!! Yet, I'm lagging behind.....I better get back to the car lot!!!
The LeMans replaced a Plymouth Horizon and was a welcome addition to the stable.
Then I replaced it with a VW Fox. Wife says "No, I like my little blue car!"
Replaced by a Nissan Hardbody. "No, I like my Foxy!"
Replaced by a Sienna "No, I like my Trucky!"
Replaced by another Sienna after a deer accident. No fight there.
I gotta find another hobby...

How about that Open... Mickelson had a chance to pull it off but Retief played well down the stretch. Woods is in some sort of funk....
Just out of curiousity (wife would be over-joyed with trading the rx300 for one of these), saw two twins tonight at Lexus dealer, 2x 2004 Rx330's white exterior/beige leather guts.... front wheel drive, basic premium pack, 18" wheels, no hid, no bun warmers, no nav.... one had 14,xxx (asking $37,9), the other 12,xxx (asking $39,9-- which I believe is new MSRP). What are these things averaging running thru the lanes?
As always,
thanks a million.

Thanks for the update ...
Thats cheap $$ .. it also makes make me wonder - "why".? .. *maybe* he had some bad luck and ran the truck past some import dealers and they coughed up a lung of laughter for a trade figure, *maybe* he called/emailed some dealers and based on the description they fell short because of the miles, maybe it's been slam dunked off Mack Island and the 4x4 and the paint work feels like the bunkers at Shinnecock Hills .. or maybe it's a nice truck and he just needs the money - who knows, but I'm sure you will find out ...............
Terry.
I have to give that man credit where credit is do, Mickelson is a classy guy he signed autographs until almost 9PM .. me personally, I would have been in one of the locker rooms shooting-up Draino ~ I play a little golf, watch/tape alot of the Majors, but you couldn't pay me enough to play that course .l.o.l...
Tiger, what are you going to say .? .. he has entirely changed the face of golf in 5 short years, he made 83 million dollars last year "before" picking up a club, his face is on more covers than Madonna, I'm sure he's going to have a few bad days on a golf course .l.o.l..
Terry.
Me, I wouldn't even think about stepping on that course, I swing enough times in those 18 holes as I would in 54 holes on a regular course...l.o.l. I doubt I'd make it thru nine without having to purchase a few more dozen balls.

my next vehicle will be either an altima or a murano, depending on the lease deals in 14 months, unless ford has something new and cool by then.
I've got a 97 Ford Explorer XLT, 70K miles, V6 SOHC, FWD, power everything, leather, 6 CD changer, rear air. It's been in a few small accidents requiring some body work, but they've been fully repaired by a quality shop. There's a rattle from some loose something or other underneath, but otherwise is in good mechanical shape. I'm just outside DC in Northern Virginia. Any thoughts on a good trade-in number?
Thanks!

I am still curious about this though:
1999 Lexus RX300 AWD
Gold exterior with tan leather
36,000 miles
Leather, roof, heated seats .. typical Lexus equipment
Exterior looks great with maybe a few small scratches
Interior is spotless .. no french fry colonies to speak of
Tires look newer ... maybe 50% tread life left.
Only problem is that it was in an accident. The rear frame rails were rewelded near the rear impact bar.
I could've grabbed it for $15,000 in Atlanta ... was it worth it?

==== Another Detroit dude, or dudette whichever fits here ...
The miles are short, the color is good anywhere, GLS with a trip, slider, leather, wheels ... sounds like it could be a nice one with deep sneakers, no hits no runs no errors.. if so, then trade side, in and around the low to mid $7's, "might" maybe "could" see the low low low $8's if it glows in the dark and needs -0- ...........
let me know how it goes ..!
Terry.
Definitely FWD, with a dial to specify auto, high or low. Maybe they've changed since the 97?

I admit, I love different vehicles. Thankfully for the moment I'm pretty happy with the Titan. Hubby won't part with the Ram. He's not like me, he'd keep a truck until the wheels fell off. He's only personally had 10 vehicles since he started driving 22 years ago. One of them......his beloved 65 Fairlane......was totalled in an accident. If not for that I fully believe he would still have it. He's pulled up the reins on me, so there won't be any new cars for a while.
Ohh.... I think we've heard that before, I'm sticking hard to my date of late Fall/early Winter.
'Cides, if I traded the Titan we couldn't buy the travel trailer in the spring and that would disappoint 2 kids who are very much looking forward to our vacation next year.
