Re: Edmunds Members - Cars and Conversations (Archived)
————————————————This is what will bury the dealerships. They can't see the forrest for the trees. I had the same experience when I was trying to buy a Bronco. I have no issue naming of the dealership....Cronin Ford! They had a Bronco. They knew I wanted their Bronco. They advertised the Bronco on their WEB site at MSRP. I agreed over the phone to the MSRP price. Test drove it. Wanted it. They informed me there was also a $3,000 ADM once I told them I wanted it, after already agreeing to the MSRP price. So, I think we’ve all seen the writing on the wall about dealerships here lately. They are doing everything within their power to drive themselves out of business. Apparently, we’re not alone. It’s obvious that the dealer was saving the car for a friend or for a fool that would pay an absurd ADM. That’s understandable with a halo car like that Corvette.
A used car dealer’s experience….https://youtu.be/2qzA-gamvrs
However, it was really rotten of the dealer to not tell the guy that he had no chance of getting it. There was mention of the salesman who took his original order having “retired”. Perhaps that was a euphemism for “got fired” and whatever orders were in process got tossed out accidentally or intentionally.
Regardless, it’s a good lesson of how car dealers are not your friend. Expect nothing more than a straight business relationship.
Guess who won't do business with them again? Guess who will spread poor word of mouth about them until the end of time? And, I can't have been the only person they've done that to.
So that’s how I got that nice Bronco at the last minute, thanks.

So last night over dinner, and admittedly a glass of wine, my wife said that I should teach her to how to drive a manual transmission. With the roadster.
Is this a trap?

@jmonroe1,
You are experienced at flipping. What upgrades do you recommend for NYC's flip Jeep?
Hardwood flooring or full bath?

Lifetime warranty on a replacement battery pack? That's rather bold. Guess he figures he won't be in business long enough to worry about it.

The Prius lives! Green Bean came by this morning and installed a remanufactured pack. Seems to be driving normally now.

You’re asking us? Trade the RDX and the Jetta and get a Maserati. That’ll keep your wallet busy for a good long while.

Speaking of good customer service, I found out I get better service after getting my hair cut.I’ll toot my own horn for a customer service story. Today as I was moving cars in the airport garage I saw an elderly (80s) man struggling around with a knee brace and a cane. He desperately asked me where our competitor’s booth was located and gave out a groan when I told him it was at the other end of the garage.
I still wear a mask when I go in the grocery store.
Got my hair cut Friday and went to the deli at the grocery store Sunday and asked for 1/2 lb of roast beef.
The lady sliced it then said to me there's only a few slices left so I'll weigh what you have then add the rest on top. Enjoy another sandwich on me. I said i's savor every bite of it!
I felt sorry for him and asked if would help if I carried his suitcases over to the competitor’s booth. He gratefully said yes. My coworker saw what was going on and located a courtesy chair (kind of a wheelchair) for the guy to ride in. We got him to his destination and his wife thanked us. The old man reached out, shook my hand and profusely thanked us.
That was our good deed for the day.

my wife surprised me tonight. I told her I should get a Boxster instead of a Miata (after she pointed out I did not fit well in the Mazda) and she said sure, go get one. so I sent her a link to a blue over tan used one and her response was "that is pretty".I am confused....
It’s a trap. Don’t fall for it.
