    ...... 1/2 ton ..3/4 ton ..? big block ..?

    Let's just figure a 1/2 ton.
Let's say it's clean .. knee deep in rubber, interior looks like 00, just a few minor scratches in the front and rear fascias ... and it's got dual air and heat. (if not, start deducting)

The miles are a little stiff, not bad though -it's a Suburban -- low $13's, and on the retail side (if it's nice) ..$16,900 can start you up and end up with an easy mid $15ish figure...

    Thanks for stopping buy ...

    Terry.

I will be putting in an order for a new car. It will take about 16 weeks to get the car. The dealer said they will appraise my car now and adjust for the 16 weeks. They will also give me the amount of mileage I'm allowed to put on car without affecting appraisal. My question is about what should I expect for trade in now and how much will the car depreciate in 16 weeks?

I'd like to trade in 2 cars and buy a new one. Do dealers even allow this? I have a green 97 Dodge Neon Sport Coupe with 55k miles and a shite 95 Nissan Altima GXE with 66k miles. I live an hour north of Los Angelas, CA.
I'd like to get $3500-$4000 for the Neon and $5500-$6000 for the Altima.
    Am I dreaming?

    Hello Terry & Bill.

I appreciate your time and service you provide here. It's becoming a sick form of entertainment for me. Might as well participate myself...

I have a 99 F-150 Lariat Extended Cab (4dr) with a hair under 78,000 miles. Probably need to trade or sell before hitting 80K, or plan on keeping it forever.

It's a white exterior with a few scratches, beige leather in great shape. 5.4 V8, tow package with trailer brakes. Will buy new tires this week. Single CD, no sunroof, no sliding rear window.

    I'm in Atlanta.

If I left anything out you need, I'll go to my room until I find it.

    Thanks in advance,

    Charlie

Yeah... I may have been light on the Honda.. still... need more info on condition.

    Took this in on trade:

93 Accord LX Handshaker. Clean, knee deep, freezy AC.. blah blah...

Exhaust Leak and 225,003 below the speedo as I drove up to the reg gates at Imperial AA tonight.

(Sucker drove like a dream BTW.. I was impressed)

$2,200 across the block. What were they THINKING?

Yeah I sold it. So who knows after THIS week.

    Amusement of the evening:

    1995 740i (SWB). 78k. Very clean.

OK, get this... A) It did $18,200 (!!!) B) It was Yellow with Black Guts. Factory color combo. Special order sticker under the hood and all.

    Amusement of the Morning:

1978 450SL. Seats redone in Vinyl. Silver/Black. Cracked wood around window switches, no hard top, cracked up dash. Showed 108K. Otherwise really nice. No-saled at 8,400.

....... Gheeeez, another hi-miler. -- what ..? do all you people get a job in Sarasota, live in Atlanta, and commute every day ..l.o.l...

Ok .. let's see this one.

Well, it has just a few little bitty miles on it ... but, it's a 5.4 and it has some scratches -- so basically, it's about average --- without being able to "eyeball" this myself .. me personally, I would want to hit the table below rough. So I'm thinkin, the dealer would want to be in the low $12's.

    Good luck ....

....... Sometimes, I think I need to get my hearing tested ...l...o...l...

I can't tell you how many times I have walked up to the podium and asked the auctioneer, or hang around the booth, and wait for the slip to come down to check the prices.

1990 Corsica Lt 46k original .. nice little vehicle $2,8, 89 Landcruiser 198k not bad, needed some things, No saled at $6,3..? -- 90 VW Cabriolet B., 156K clean needed tires and a w/shield $3,300 ... and my pick of the day, 93 Corrado ..3 different shades of red, hoods been flipped, seats are out of a something, 4 different tires and 3 different rims, TMU, shows 250k -- ready ..? sitting down ..? $5 large.

Where do they go with this stuff ....? not with me, that's for sure...l..o...l...

I have a 99 Chevy AWD Astro with 60,000 miles that was in an accident and had body and frame repair. How much do you think I have lost in resale value due to the vehicles history even though it has been fixed? Do I have to tell the dealer or potential buyer about the repaired frame damage? Do you think most dealers would be able to detect the repaired frame?
    Thanks

    Bill--you better believe I took the $1450!
Terry--I believe Atlanta has the highest commute in the US. If not the top, then right up there. You don't drive anywhere if you put less than 20k mi/yr around here!

Thanks for all the advice, but with the new van last spring and the Saturn yesterday, I don't guess I need too much more around here--for a few years anyway!

Well, here I am...a newby at posting and hoping for responses...I'm probably lost...I want to know this:
Am I crazy for thinking that a dealership in zip 76133 wanted to give me $9200 for trade in of our '97 Accord EXV6 with 70800 miles (dark green)? It has leather, power driver seat, pw, pl, moonroof, alloy wheels, alarm & keyless, tinted windows, rear window antenna & defrost, good tires and is clean, clean, clean...
If I'm in the wrong place...please tell me where to get this info...
  • mrsierramrsierra Member Posts: 4
I meant to say...am I crazy for thinking that the DEALERSHIP SALESPERSON is crazy for offering me ONLY $9200?
  • mrsierramrsierra Member Posts: 4
I've been browsing this website and haven't been able to determine this: TMV prices looked up here...do these reflect any manufacturer incentives--OR are these BEFORE such deductions?
  • soberssobers Member Posts: 496
Terry/Bill: My friend bought the 2000 Civic Lx Auto with 20k miles (certified superclean, cd, keyless) for $12500

mrsierra: With that kind miles 9200 sounds an ok price ? Maybe close to 10,000 ? You should be able to get much better with private sell for this car.
  • rroyce10rroyce10 Member Posts: 9,332
....... Ok, Ok. Stop the panic attack , let's take a look.

It's a 97 EX and it's got the V6 ..and it's got 71,000 hard earned miles on it. Are you from Atlanta ..? l..o..l...

So you say it's nice .. right ? Clean .. right ? Newish in tires, little or no dings, dent's and you can still see the interior .. right ?
Someone might mistake for a much newer vehicle .. right?

    $9,200 .. right? --- Wrong..!

I know it's worth at least $10,5/$11 -- without actually seeing this little diamond in the ruff, it could be worth more... The miles are ok for the year, but on the whole, I would want to be in the high $10's.

Now take a deep breath and blow into this bag ....

    Go see a Dr. ... Oooop's, I mean a new dealer.

    Terry.
  • rroyce10rroyce10 Member Posts: 9,332
..... The $12,5 price seems just fine, it's Certified, it has the keyless, cd etc.

These friggin Honda's are just getting psycho money at the auctions -- and guess what ..? Do you know who out bids me ..? Honda dealers.

    Terry.

    Guys,

Where do you hit an '01 Jeep Wrangler Sahara, auto, a/c, cruise, CD, hard and soft tops. 30" factory rubber with alumium wheels.

    6,500 miles, showroom cond.

Maroon with tan inside - located in NNJ.

    Thanks!
  • rroyce10rroyce10 Member Posts: 9,332
    ..... Hey bud what's going on ..?

This one is gotta be like new ..01, 6,500 miles, auto and both tops and the right color for NJ ...

Am I reading this one right ...?

    30" factory wheels/tires -- 30" ..?

Well, thats a new one on me ...30" ..?

Ummmmm, most times these high end tires and such don't help .. they hinder. But, let's figure it like I can't see em', cus' I can't. l..o..l..

It's gotta be worth the high $17's (real money) .. maybe the low $18's. I'm not sure, but I have a feeling those 30" rims and tires may come back and bite ya...

30" on a Sahara huh..? Hmmmmm. I gotta start reading Popular Mechanics again.

I wonder what they would look like on my Benz ..?

1998 Accord EX V6 GOLD, Spoiler WITH 59,000 miles. Tires good for 20K+ more miles. Good condition. I hope I am giving all the info needed!
  • rbrenton88rbrenton88 Member Posts: 186
I read an anecdote elsewhere, where a guy put 22" rims on his benz...and the wheels got stuck inside the wheelwell. He had to call a flatbed. So forget those 30-inchers!

Hi. Can you give me an idea on what I can expect on a trade - 1995 Nissan 200SX - SE, Black, Manual trans, moonroof, spoiler, 1 year old tires, 110,000 miles, air bag light flashing, clean and shows well?

    Thanks.

It looks like Dad is going to buy a new SUV this weekend. So we need to know what his might be worth.
    It's a SLT 4x4. It has dual air,leather,roof rack,alloys,V8,cd,tow package with 37k. New tires at 30k
It's very clean, with no dings and he has it cleaned all the time. It's red with the grey interior. The Ford dealer said it might be worth $14,000.
You guys helped us a lot before, I think he should just keep it and buy a small car for the other stuff, he really takes care of this one.

    Thanks in advance.

My husband and I are trading in our 1998 Mustang for a 2002 Jetta. Can you tell me what we might be offered from the VW Dealer and what we should accept as a fair price?
    Zip - 85743
    Miles - 44700K

    Features:
Automatic, CD/Cassette/AM-FM, AC, Power windows, Power Locks, Power driver seat, Rear Spoiler, Cruise Control

Condition: No dings, no accidents, paint job is still good, no stains and no excessive wear on the interior. It is coming up to a 45K mile check, but has had on-time, regular check-ups up to date.

The Dealer currently has only one convertible 2000 Mustang on the lot he is advertising at $14500.

    Thanks in advance!

...leave abandoned on the side of the rode ablaze ;-)

I've got a 1992 Champagne Nissan Pathfinder SE 4 door, 4 wheel drive automatic that I'm looking to get rid of via trade if possible. It's got 134000 miles on it and a little rust bit on the runners and spare tire arm on the back. I replaced the battery and alternator within the last 6 months. The rest of the exterior condition is pretty good for a car its age - a couple of scratches and a minor ding that could easily be fixed. At my last regular service and oil change, I was told the exhaust shield hangar was broken. I have not fixed that. The tires are fine with little wear. The interior is in pretty good shape.

As far as accessories go, it has a 10 CD changer, AM/FM/Cassette radio, A/C, power windows/locks, roof rack, cloth interior, flip up sun roof, and fog lights.

I've looked at the Edmund's estimates, but would love to get some "real world" opinions on the trade in or private sale value of my beloved Pathfinder, especially since I've read that it's essentially worthless to trade in a car over 4 years old.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Send that baby to Alaska, dealers eat those things up. I saw this lady a few months ago pay $10K at the Nissan dealer for a 110K mile 93 Pathfinder. Alaska has a crazy market for SUV's that's for sure.

2002 Jetta 1.8T, every option (Monsoon, Tiptronic, leather, Sport Luxury) in Baltimore, Md. 10,000 miles, 5 & 10K servicings done w/papers on the seat. Never smoked or eaten in. Mostly highway miles, too. One wheel scraped ($95 for repair, I was told), and back bumper has a tiny little (less than a dime in size, and hard to see except by ME!) nick in it. What do you think?
  • im_brentwoodim_brentwood Member Posts: 4,883
    Hmm..

Air Bag light is scary, miles and stick dont help it.. Still, if it is clean...

    $1,800-2Kish is what methinks.

    Bill
  • im_brentwoodim_brentwood Member Posts: 4,883
$12,500-13K across the block.. I think 14,500 has gotta buy this one.

    Bill
  • im_brentwoodim_brentwood Member Posts: 4,883
    5.2 or 5.9?

5.2? I think you can get around 14,500 if its just mint. 5.9? Maybe closer to $15,000---15,200---15,300---

    Bill
  • im_brentwoodim_brentwood Member Posts: 4,883
    Is this a V6 or a V8? And Is it a ragtop?

The paint... its all original, right? And what color is it?

    Thanks!

    Bill
  • im_brentwoodim_brentwood Member Posts: 4,883
    Hmm..

A little rust is a little bad.

Still, gotta be worth $2K ALL day long.

    Bill
  • im_brentwoodim_brentwood Member Posts: 4,883
Hmm.. $8,500-9,000 across the block if it looks like it should say 16K instead of 76k. $10,500 has to buy that.

    Bill
  • im_brentwoodim_brentwood Member Posts: 4,883
Lotta milesfor an 02 almost... still, its a freakin Jetta.

$17K is what I would think, would be curious to see what Mr T says.

  • smwls8smwls8 Member Posts: 103
That is the size of the tire height, not the wheel size(probably on a 15 or 16 inch wheel). Although a 30" tire is the outer limit for a stock height wrangler, tires may scrub when turned at full lock depending on the wheels. By the way Bill/Terry, my co-worker bought a 2001 Wrangler Sport, 4.0 INLINE(it kills me for people/salesman refer to Jeep GC/Cherokee/Wrangler's as having a V-6!) six cylinder, 5-speed, sound bar, ac, hard and soft top with the aluminum wheel 30 inch tire package and 21K miles(I know,I know, high miles) for 16,500.....oh yeah, it's black, in south FLA....I think he got a fair deal, dealer was asking 18995 to start.

Thanks for all the great info. I used your fax/email attack template in the Acura shopping thread to score an absolutely incredible price on a new TL-S.

Is the 2K you suggested for my Pathfinder a trade-in value, private sale or what I could expect if it were found as a car-b-q on the side of the road? ;-)
  • copper9copper9 Member Posts: 2
It is a V6, the standard 2-dr Mustang Coupe. Original paint, the dark metallic blue color.

    Thanks
