I'm looking at a 2002 Jetta 1.8T [Monsoon, alloys, auto] with 9000 miles on it being offered by a private seller. I can't find a resale price for any 2002 models so I don't know what to offer. Can someone tell me what a dealer might have offered him for the car? Or what I should offer?
I have that same car. Here in the Baltimore/DC area (where I am), they will easily retail for $20K with that little bit of mileage on them. Also, be sure the car is ok? Why is the person getting rid of the car so soon? I was looking to sell my car, and I was doing so because the car doesn't have enough back seat room and it's kinda expensive to commute in (70 miles daily). So check all that out first.
I'm looking to get rid of my car and get a new one. I need to know the value of it so I can start pricing different cars. Here it is:
1994 Chevrolet Lumina 4dr STD sedan 11*,*** miles, new water pump and drive belts, new(er) tires, recent oil change, mechanically excellent. It runs great and has never had any major problems. It's got some dents and scratches, but nothing bad, all easily repairable. No rust or peeling of paint. Interior, with exception of floor mats, is in good condition. No vinyl is cracked, no seats are torn, everything works right.
Please evaluate trade-in value :1999 mustang coupe v-6,auto,power seat, premium wheels. Car has 25300 miles,no body damage, color is laser red. We live in metro-baltimore area, thanks for your input, bill.
....... The miles are nice and low for the year, plus it's a 6 and auto, that helps.
If it's clean, no parking lot kisses, no meteorite hits and the interior doesn't look like 15 dogs have used it for a shelter -- then you are probably looking at in and around the mid $8's....
I'm looking to trade in my 2-door 96 Honda Civic EX and I'd like to know what I might expect to receive for it. I'm in the Lexington/Louisville, Kentucky area.
It's an automatic with about 75,500 miles on it. It runs like a Honda (excellent), and the only problem I've had with it was that the airbag sensor had to be replaced. I also had an accident in it--front end--about $5000 of damage. It was well-repaired over two years ago, but there are weld marks (under the hood) where a new radiator(?) frame was welded in. The interior is clean and the exterior has several door dings and parking lot marks, although most of them are tiny dents with no paint damage. The tires have about 2/3 of their life left in them. The car has been well maintained with all records for the time I've owned it (since about 34K miles).
Of course it has a moonroof, power locks and windows, and remote keyless entry. It also has a 6 disc CD changer mounted in the trunk.
Bill/Terry, What am I looking at trade value for my 01' G-20t w/ leather, sports suspension, moon roof, garaged kept w/ 20K miles. Excellent condition--not a scratch on the brilliant SILVER paint.
I'm in the Hampton Roads area of VA. Thanks for your help
How much can I expect to get on a trade-in of a 2001 Subaru Forester? It's dark green, standard transmission, ABS, 25000 miles, and in excellent condition. I'm in Connecticut.
........ Ok, my crystal ball is back in the shop again ...
So is this an S, L or a S Prem pack ..?
Let's just say it's an S ... handshaker, with 25 klicks ... like to drive eh ..?
If it's real nice and clean .. can pass for a new one, no battles with the local food carts and the interior still looks new ... then you are going to be "around" the $16 figure. That's on the high side, but living in Conneticut these silly things bring strong money ...
I am interested in trading in my 1994 Pathfinder and would like a realistic price. 1994 XE 4WD, BLK, 5spd, A/C, 90K, Chrome Wheels. AM/FM cassette. Clean, very well maintained, "normal" small dings etc. Thanks
Let's see what you say on this trade-in. A '94 Toyota Paseo, with 181,300 miles. 5 Spd, air condition, tape player, spoiler, maroon color. Pittsburgh area. Clean car fax. The front bumper will need air brushed thanks to tar stone chips. New tires (don't think that will help much, LOL). Interior in good shape for an 8yr old car.
Sapphire/Oatmeal, eh? Weather/CD... IIRC, that was a $58,130msrp car...Good color for these. Racing Green or Alpine Green? $1,500+ Deduct. Add $500 for Topaz.
If no paintwork, and the stone chips are not excessive...
Its a solid $27,000++ Wholesale piece, really, closerto $28K so you should not take more than a dime or two under $30,500. Really I'd put it in the paper like this:
1999 Jaguar XJ8 Sapphire Blue with Oatmeal Leather. Immaculate, Factory CD CHanger, Heated Seats, Traction. Only 33K miles, no accidents/nonsmoker. Original owner. $31,900 (or 30,900) for quick sale. Call owner at 407-123-4567
Hope this helps, I can get, as a dealer, $31K+ for cars like yours VERY quickly.
Well... IMO, not the greatest color for the car. (Silver would be worth.. ohh.. I think
So I see no reason to pay all the $$ for it.
Its a $27K car across the block ($28,500+ if its painted Silver) so.. figure the dealer has $28K in it all said and done, plus $650 or so for cert... So I think no more than $31,200 or so for it on the retail side.
Gonna go look at a new CTS today ! Need trade in value. GM employee buyer so its a mini deal for dealer. 96 Caddy Deville 82k miles, New Tires, Leather, 10 cd changer, loaded, chromies, no roof tho ! Seafoam Green and clean and shiny in and out ! Syracuse ny area....Thanx.......Geo
are not "mini" deals for the dealerships. We usually get more $$ for employee deals than a regular sale. There are some cars that we won't do employee deals on (Corvettes for example) but the dealership is compensated at a better cut for an employee deal on a slow mover.
I don't sell Caddys so I don't know if the CTS is something that you can get at GMS or not.
Really ? make more ? Salesman always told me they didn't make much ! Told me they make it up with the trade. I know the deal about GM employee buyer. They can refuse to sell to you GMS. Especially on a new or hot model. I found that out last year when i wanted a 8.1 allie GM pickup !But I have bought 2 Caddys from this dealer in 89 and 96. Same salesman sold me both ! He was a green pea in 89 ! He is working today ! We will see !.............Geo BTW: If they won't its off to the Buick store to check a new Lesabre !
....... I can't say what kind of deal they will work out for you -- the CTS is new and still a little limited ---
Your vehicle, if it's clean, deep in rubber, looks like it has 40k inside and out is worth "around" the $4,500 zipcode.
For what it may be worth -- I drove one about 2wks ago for a couple of days, put 300 miles on it. Personally (in my stupid, humble opinion) .. I really wasn't too impressed, too many little quirky little deals. Dash is Bz and squeaky, the ride has too much over steer ..that doesn't make it good and that doesn't make it bad -- just my silly view on it.
I really don't try to "recommend" or not any vehicles. And how I feel about a vehicle can be very different than my neighbor or friends.
I would just "advise" that the dealer allows you, an "overnight" with the vehicle .... you drive it on your roads, you take it on your traveled area's, hi speed.. low speeds, stuff like that --- A drive around block, can never help make a good decision.
I have a gold '97 Saturn SL1, 81,000 miles, No accidents, automatic, air conditioning, power windows and doors, cruise, radio/CD. How much could I expect on a trade-in? (Detroit area)
I'm looking for a realistic trade-in value for a 1995 White Ford Explorer XLT, 95,000 miles, very good interior, average exterior, 20,000 on tires, 4 wheel drive, leather interior, 6 disk cd, am/fm/cassette, power moon/sun roof, windows, door locks, front/rear brush guards, remote after market alarm, keyless entry, towing package, roof rack, rubber front floor mats and rear bed liners, new floor mats (never used from original purchase), never smoked in, Thanks for your help!
Can you give me trade in value and private sale value for 99 Camaro 6cyl, Baltimore area, 29000 miles, perfect not a swirl mark. Automatic, T-Top, Chrome wheels, Monsoon CD, Power seat, new tires, preferred equipment option package. Looking to buy Z28 SS while I can.
Guys - the 9-5 sedan you priced out a few days ago had some issues and my friend decided not to buy it. I found a 1999 9-5 Wagon for him, silver, MANUAL, leather, heated seats, original tires, CD, sunroof, 32K miles. The guy wants $19,500 for it but that seems high. Looking at the residual numbers on my 2001 wagon, I am guessing that $14-15K is more like it. Thoughts?
Dealer has NEW 2001 navigator. Sticker is 51.4K. He wants 43.1K. WHITE/Parchment, 17" wheels, heated seats and mirrors, tow, aux climate control, skid plates, moon roof, climate controlled seats, backup sensor & Alpine audio with cd stacker. Wife says it looks like an ambulance, but thats another issue. Can you tell what this thing would bring at auction in the northeast. I'm thinking about 39K would be in line as an offer. Your thoughts?
What is the real trade in value of my '97 Intrepid? Here are the Specs: 1997 Intrepid 4dr sedan-Excellent condition! Mileage-81,000, 3.5 V6, ABS Brakes, CD Player & AM/FM stereo (no cassette), Premium sound, Alarm system /Keyless Entry, Power door locks, power steering, power windows, Dual airbags (Front), Air conditioning, Tinted windows, Color-White (Flawless body & Paint), Grey interior (excellent condition),
What could I expect for my '99 Taurus LX? Trade-in and Retail? Just a basic Taurus, no options
Condition: Excelent, One owner, all maint records Mileage: 27,100 Miles Color: Spruce Green, Grey cloth interior Power windows, mirrors AM/FM Stereo A/C Dual air bags Colorado (Denver Metro Area)
........... Based on your description, it sounds nice, clean and cared for. The miles are a little stiff.. not bad for the year.
You sound a little weak on the outside, so based on what your saying, and where you live, you are probably in and around that $3,5/$4,000 figure (real money) ..I recommend, that you have this puppy detailed to the Max before you go shopping -- you could pick up another $4/$5/$600 ..
...... Aaah, it has no miles, right color for Denver. Everyone is lookin' for that low mileage baby doll.
Taurus's sell pretty quick .. this one should go quicker, cause' of the miles.
So if it's super clean inside and out .. looks like an 02, knee deep in rubber, no or few little parking lot kisses (if not, start deducting), this could be worth around $7/$7,500 on trade.
On the retail end, with a fat "5 liner" .. $9,900, and get a quick $8,9/$9,1/$9,300.
...... The Big Dog of the SUV's ..is this one new ..? As in untitled ..? MSO vehicle ..?
Well I have bought a bunch of these .. I love that beep beep and the quads.
Super nice, super clean, super loaded up Navs with 7/9/11K, are doing in and around the $33's and some change, at the block. ( I paid $33,900 for an 8k baby doll in blue) ... So now what ..?
Thinking about trading-in 99 Cherokee for a used 00 Durango w/ 14k. Cherokee info:
-4dr Sport, forest green, auto, air, power group, privacy glass, select-trac, 45k miles, located in Rhode Island.
Has a few minor dings and someone side swiped the driverside doors. The damage isn't major but the dent is definetly noticable. Also, driver is a smoker. TIA, Appreciate the info that is posted.
.... Good morning Adam .. this little wagon is the 2.3 .. right?
Well, let's start out with all the good news first. It's a handshaker, it just kills it as a wagon. I don't have to tell you, wagons are LARGE right now. Wagons with a handshaker .. are not.
You are getting pretty good at this ..I would say, $16,000 would flat kill it, $15/$15,500 would be all the money and then some ....
A fair retail on this would be ( I give you money - you give me car.) ..$17/$17,500 EOW.
We're selling my daughter's 1992 Chevrolet Camaro RS automatic, 6 cyl, 3.1 with 120,000 miles on it. The car is clean. There is a small dent along the driver's side door but the rest of the body is very good. The car runs well and has been taken care of.
How much do you realistically think we can get with a private party? For trade? Thanks very much.
...... Believe it or not ..Camaro's and F Birds are getting popular .. again. And don't ask me why.
Miles are stiff .. not for the year, It has the 3.1, hard to break these. It's an auto, big plus and from what you are telling us -- it's, nice nice nice.
Great little retail unit, if it's clean all the way around -- it should sell fast.
Depending on how nice this is, on trade it might do a ghee whiz, maybe a little more.
On the retail side .. make it look like a diamond, put eyes all over it, have the service papers ready to rock, and ASK $2,800. You should return $1,8/$2,0/$2,200.

That was trade-In BTW...

1994 Chevrolet Lumina 4dr STD sedan

So it's a base Lumina with ******K, new stuff all the way around, tires are about ok. .. Body is good and it almost looks 95 .. right ..?
$8 bucks ... (as in $800)
Terry.
Depends on what he traded for ...

I think, that since its been smashed... I think Its a $4,500-5K car. And 5K being a bit of a push.
Sorry...
Bill
Terry's the one with the Infinit Store... But I think you'd be in the $16,500 areahere.
20K is a lot on the clock for an 01..

$4,500ish is the Numbah...

told me they didn't make much !
Told me they make it up with the trade.
I know the deal about GM employee buyer.
They can refuse to sell to you GMS.
Especially on a new or hot model. I
found that out last year when i wanted

Hope this helps.. the 81K hurts here..
Bill
Thanks
Chris
Thanks for your help!
These things, still sell strong ... people still love em'.
The klicks are fine for the year, they don't start breakin' til they have about 150K+ on em', so your in good shape.
The dealer probably has $7 in it, to the table. I would think $8 will take it ...$7,500 is a good starting point.
I hope this helps ...
Terry.
Nice vehicles though ... no miles, right color for the Chi-town hustlers. I buy a lot of these.
If it looks new .. I mean new! $19,500 zipcode. On the retail side .. $21,900. An easy sale at $21,1/$21,3/$21,500.
As always, thanks
Adam

Ok Russ, we have a 99 4dr sport with 45 klicks.. color and miles is fine for the area.
A little meteorite action on the drivers side.. AND(as I puff away).. you smoke, What's TIA ..?
Without seeing that dent and stuff, I'm thinkin' around $8 to $8,5 ...
