Thats a nice "asking" price, and I agree that $17,500 has to be to the moon for it.
$15,000 to MAYBE $15,500 across the block (It IS Silver, and it IS a Wagon, and 95 wagons are RARE and low-mile 95s period are RARE).
Personally, I love the cars. I'm driving a 99 Auto Sedan as my driver as we speak and love it. (Just got the the store... just hopped out of it) For the $$.. a TON of car.
And avoid the V6s.. they still are whiny about t-belts, arent much faster, and guzzle more gas. The 2.3 LPT is the motor to get IMO and Experience.
OK looking at another 99 XJ8 The Good Color Sapphire Blue/Oatmeal Miles 34,000 Toys Cd,phone, traction, moon, heated seats, garage door opener etc The Bad Rear Driver side door and panel re-painted Accident with park car listed in Car Fax Report The rest of the car is in good shape, a few stone chips, wear on the driver seat, bad wax job nothing major. Bill, I follow you guide for looking for paint work and all the stickers are there and they match. So is $26,000 a good price for this baby ? Thanks in advance
We have a 2000 Chrysler 300M with 18,000 miles and the following: -Deep Slate Pearl Coat -Agate leather interior -Power Sunroof -4CD changer, 360 watt, 11 speaker Infiniti stereo -17" chrome wheels with matching full spare -All the standard stuff, like heated & memory seats, wood & chrome, Autostick transmission, etc.
Like I said, it has exactly 18,000 miles on it now. I fully detail it every weekend, the interior is spotless as well as the exterior and it's all in new condition. What do you think, as far as trade-in value and private sale price?
reply is in ref to message # 5551 TIA = Thanks in advance. Like most folks trading-in I thought it would be worth more:( Is a smoker's vehicle worth less? And is selec-trac worth anything when estimating price for trade-in or private party? I find it a very useful feature in slippery weather.
I am interested in what you think I can get a 00 Durango Sport w/ 3rd seat for. As mentioned before, the one I'm interested in has 14k miles onit. Again, TIA!
Hello, I'm wondering wat is the trade-in value for my '98 Civic Ex Coupe with 57,000 miles and in good condition and if it helps i'm in southeastern Florida... In late December i had gone to CarMax and they offered me 6,500, however my car was lowered, but the sales rep said that they would only give me a few hundred more if i restored the car to its stock height...since then i have restored the car back to its stock height and i'm also wondering if CarMax would give me a bettter price or would the BMW dealership where i ordered my car give me a better price? thanx every1
...... Neon lights, $4,500 stereo systems, whacked out wheels and tires, having them raised or lowered, irregular paint jobs -- any of that stuff can hurt or .. just kill a vehicle for trade or re-sale.
You haven't left us a lot of info, but let's assume its an auto, very clean, new tires, very few dings and scratches, silver or white in color ..and of course, it back to normal.
Because of the miles (low) .. and it's just "Jam-up", the vehicle could be worth $10+ or better --- $6,500 ..? I can't imagine what you did to this thing.
Posted a couuple of days ago - I think it was missed so trying again. Can you give me trade in value and private sale value for 99 Camaro 6cyl, Baltimore area, 29000 miles, perfect not a swirl mark. Automatic, T-Top, Chrome wheels, Monsoon CD, Power seat, new tires, preferred equipment option package. Looking to buy Z28 SS while I can.
your opinion of the Acura 3.5 RL was a bullet proof car that was lost in the marketplace? I have the chance to pick up a 1996 one-owner with 30K on the clock for 13K. From looking on Autotrader here in south FLA(I check up to your neck of the woods) is a really good price(Charcoal grey exterior). My only concern was this was the 1st year for this car(body style). Any problem areas to look for when I go look today?
How about a 00 Volvo S40T. Has the 1.8 Turbo, its Red/ Graphite (cloth). Auto, Cassette, all power, no sunroof. Has nice Alloys and good Michelins on it. 31,000 miles, nice car. Its been sitting for a bit and the used car manager wants it gone. I was going to Ebay it, any suggestions of what reality is for this one?
Been looking at the 02 Acura 3.2TL. Nice cars, but my question is on the estimated residual values in 5 years. I've seen around 45% as the estimated residual, which means on $29,000, it should be worth about $13,000 trade in 5 years. It sounds kind of high to me, but maybe that is why leasing companies are losing their shirts lately.
Question, will it really hold that much of it's value? It sounds decent, until you realize that is still $3,200 in depreciation a year.
Considering the best way to dispose of a '96 short wheelbase base Voyager. 75,000 mi, 6 cyl, auto, Air, Cruise, AM/FM CD, 7 pass, 1 sliding door, sunscreen glass, roof rack. Dark green metallic. Dent in front fender- sorta ugly- a number of scratches.. Any idea on trade value would be appreciated. Thanks
sorry bout the lack of info, well its black exterior/grey interior, auto, power doors/locks/moonroof.....the standard equip on an EX Civic and yes very few dings or scracthes...however, the tires do not have much tread on them.....the only modification i had left on the car when i got it appraised was its lowered height, everything else was stock, the sales rep said that they couldnt sell my car on the lot coz it was modified and they had to auction the car off.....and i had also gotten an appraisal from my local Honda dealership, and they only offered me 7,500 if i restored the car back to manufacturer's specs.... i did my research and at the time, my car's WHOLESALE value was approximately 8,900.......why were both their prices so much lower? thanx again..
Terry- Thanks for the help on the '01 300M. I will probably keep it for a year or two. The dealer was asking 8k for that Grand Marquis so you hit that right on the head haven't talked to my friend yet so don't know if he pulled the trigger yet. Thanks again you and bill perform a wonderful service.
Bill- '00 300 might see 17.5-18 in trade I think. they retail for right around 20 up here in the windy city.
Well, you just had to ask about the body shop didn't you? We were rear-ended pretty badly at a stop light in October, and the rear end is completely new for the most part. However, the shop that did the work is the best around and you can tell no difference at all. No paint flaws, no body work is visible, everything fits like new, and there is not a single rattle or squeak in the rear. No different to drive either.
No one can tell that anything at all has been done to the car. Only when you open the trunk do you see a few very slight marks from welding and what not. But you really have to look for them, otherwise it's no different than it was from the factory.
So, what do you think now as far as trade and private sale?
Looking for a wholesale/retail number for my mom's Camry. Mint condition, 98, V6, auto, LE, side air bags, power everything, cruise, upgraded factory AM/FM cassette, factory alloys. Beige metallic, with beige guts. 14,000 miles, no dings, no dents, never seen a french fry, knee deep. Car is located in Saratoga (Upstate) NY.
I'm considering upgrading from a 95 Volvo 850 GLT sedan to 95 Jaguar XJ6 VDP. What should the difference be worth?
Stats:
95 Volvo: 119,000 miles, Dark green, leather, automatic. Everything works. Top trim molding is peeling black paint to chrome. Fine car mechanically, I have driven it for 4 years.
95 Jaguar VDP: 68,000 miles. British Racing Green. Some wear on driver seats. Very clean looking in and out. Dealer is asking $19,900.
If I want to trade-in Volvo, how much should I expect my out of pocket to be? Both cars are located in Northern California. The dealer has had this VDP about 3 weeks.
I know there are some Jag experts in this forum. What do you think?
thinking about trading in my 96 ranger xlt 2wd 4.0 v6, sacramento, ca area - 56K miles, extended cab, a/c, manual tranny, matching top shell, dark metalic green color, fog lights, casette, alarm, bed liner, great condition. how much can I expect (or not expect)? thanks in advance.
Bill and Terry thanks for all the information I left a deposit on the car and hopefully my auto loan will be process Tuesday. I guess the seller wasn't lying when he said he was losing money on the deal. Now all I have to do is get rid of my Taurus SHO.
Hello, I am looking to trade-in this silver LX with 120,000 miles and velour interior with am/fm/cassette, power everything with a manual tranny. Some scratches and small dents, would it be worth it to repair them? Otherwise this car has a clean history with one owner and runs beautifully. Does it have any value as a trade-in? Thanks for your answer.
Just want an idea of what its worth. Platinum Silver, charcoal leather interior, six cylinder engine, moon roof, 34K miles, heated seats, infinity sound. Live in the Chicago area. Looks and runs like new. Thoughts?
I'm looking to get a new car in about a month or so, and I wasn't sure how much of a difference it would be if I traded vs selling on my own. Blue, 75k miles, auto, air, power windows and locks, cd player. I'm in the South Jersey/Philly area. Any ideas?
I'm interested in a real trade value. I'm in the Houston area. The XL-7 has 11,500 miles on it and is a 2 wheel drive. It is the Touring edition and is Pearl white.
Thanks again for your help on valuing a '96 Sebring LXi a couple months back. It enabled my girlfriend to hold her ground when buying a new car last nite (details in "Inconsiderate Shoppers", although she wasn't one).
As an appropriate thank you, I'm making a huge donation, in your names, to the Human Fund.

You need to buy it! THats probably a little less than it would do at auction.
Put it this way.. if you dont buy it for $26K.. I will
Bill
Chromes? Roof? Perfect? Wouldnt recognize the inside of a bodyshop? 18K on an 00?
I think we have a $19K vehicle here that you need to ask $21,900/bo in a well-written ad.
I wouldnt take under $20,800 for it.

Assuming its a good color (Not purple or Pink or Brown..etc..) and its loaded and just perfect, and would not recognize the inside of a bodyshop, etc.
$9,000-9,500ish I think.. MAYBE $10K on the mother fo all pushes, but I doubt it.
Bill
Thanks,
Sam
Last real low-mile 96 I saw down here did $14,000++ across the block.
Got your checkbook locked and loaded?
Yes, they are very well-made cars, nice cars, a bit dull IMO.. but people who own them love them.
For $13K.. that or a new Elantra...

Like .. it has no miles -- So I'm going to guess it's like new, inside and out.
Hey if it's showroom ... it's gotta be worth all of $25.
If you go the retail route -- start thinkin' $27,950 and take the first $27ish that comes along.
Terry.
Now you can change your name from Sho3 to ..Showboat 1.
Terry.
That bad new is, it has one of those old fangled gizmo's called a handshaker, so no help there.
But you have the right color for the area ..and lets hope you have brand new sneakers on it.
Soooo, what's that translate to ..? Heck I don't know..l..o..l...
I gotta think a dealer will be lookin' at it for around $6.
I hope this helps ...
Terry.
What should I shoot for?
