Wondering about the value of a '01 BMW 330xi, Steel Blue w/ Sand (beige) leather interior and wood trim, Premium Package, Auto, CD plaer, moonroof, heated seats - 40,000 miles. No mechanical or cosmetic issues.
Thanks for the help.
00 Navigator
Black w/ Gray lthr (my preference by the way)
33k mi
hot and cold seats
dual air
alpine w/ 6 disc
chrome wheels
Inside pretty clean, exterior pretty clean minus a few scratches around a fender well, only about ankle deep in rubber
Thing is, I thought he said it was a 4WD, but I neglected to look for the controls, so I'm not sure, have to go back and look. Spin around the block asking price was $30k-ish, said he'd work w/ me...
Edmunds shows equipped vehicle in range of...
4WD- 27,8 / 30,3 / 32,8
2WD- 24,4 / 26,5 / 28,7
which is why I am thinkin it's only 2WD, but I do like the truck, and maybe that would put it in my price range, if they were motivated to sell it, what would be a good offer/settle price for me?????? Thanks so much!!
Karz
But anyway, the 00's, ultra nice, ultra clean ones .. 20/25k, chromes, slider, sound, heat, 4X4 and all the stuff are doing around that $27ish figure at the block, the 2WD's are doing around the $24ish figures .. so it sounds like the one with 33k "might" be in your strike zone.
If I had a 00 with 33k and I had to put, let's say $500+ into it to make it puuurffect, then I wouldn't have paid much more than $26 for it, and it would go quickly for $27,5. But, that's me .. l.o.l...
Hey, good luck ....!
Terry.
Karz
But it has all the right toys .. auto, slider, leather -- On a trade, in and around that $27ish figure depending on the dealer, the miles just kill it ... sorry.
Ever think about using an airplane ..? l.o.l...
Terry.
Terry.
It has No miles, it's a loaded up CE, right color, auto, cruise and the power pack .. if it's clean, nice, inside and out, needs -0- and lookin' 02 then $8 is a little on the low side.
Can't get em' and can't find em' for $8. I'm sure the dealers in Clevesburg are close to paying the $9's for the nice, low mileage ones at the auctions .. I know, I bid against all the time .. I would have to pass, unless the dealer has "stepped up" and paid at least $8,5/$8,7 .. that's fair for both.
Terry.
If this little Fiver is Clean, looks like a 00, knee deep in the rubber catorgory, service is 100%, little or no kisses or invasions, no body work or accidents, then you should be lookin' at "in and around" that $23ish figure .. if it needs a this and a that, start deducting.
I hope this helps ...
Terry.
I'm a Benz owner myself .. you might consider something else besides the ML, they are coooold on the market. This is not a "quality" thing .. it's a appearance thing. Most Benz dealers were loaded up with ML's 3 winters ago and were flat giving em' away ... so unless you can just "steal" one, perhaps consider a different brand.
Terry.
Any reply would be greatly appreciated.
Golf first, you guys second .. got it..!
Gheeez, do you really want to know ..? It's a Hyundai, ok it's your pain .. if it's nice, needs nothing, deep in rubber and looks clean inside and out, somewhere in and around $3,0 - depending on the dealer.
Terry :-)

Thanks,
Phil

I know the miles are high - although considering I got it earlyish in the model year (Oct, '00), it comes to a shade below 22k per year. And now that I am not commuting from Hartford, CT to Boston, MA anymore, they aren't piling on nearly as fast
Anyway, thanks again for the info.

My parents are in the market for a Mercury Grand Marquis. They are looking at either a 2000 or a 2001, base car with cloth interior. Probably around 25-35k miles, colors they like are silver, red or white. What are these cars doing across the block?
Thanks again for all your help in the past,
Rick
Anyway, Edmunds says I should get $5,200 for the car, Lexus offered me $3,100. That may be negotiable, but big difference. Is this typical of what I should expect?
Thanks,
Scott
Non-turbo, light pressure turbo, or high pressure turbo? (in other words, base, GLT, or T-5?) Sedan or wagon? Leather? Cold weather package? Sunroof? CD? Manual or auto? Color/geographic location?
The experts have to know...I though I'd tell you before Bill or Terry sent you to your room. :-)
'89 Volvo 740 GL (non-turbo) 5 speed sedan.
Tan over black leather. Leather and carpet are in new condition, but with typical old Volvo headliner sag in rear and a couple of dash cracks.
119,000 miles, all books and records since new, maintenance including R-134a retrofit up to date.
CD player, slider.
About 50% on tires, clean title, but some paintwork on rear driver's fender from when it was rear-ended in its previous life. The rest of the paint is in great shape and is and rust/dent-free.
Vehicle is located in Iowa.
From this, our professional appraisers can know as much as they can about a vehicle without actually seeing it. Saying something along the lines of "How much can I get for a 60,000 mile '97 Ford F-150" won't help much. Many, many more factors than that are in play here. Get as detailed as possible without getting editorial on us...they don't need to know if the scratch on your fender came from your daughter's senior prom.
Good luck!
Transmission type
Color inside and out
What options (power goodies, CD player, sunroof, etc)
Any body damage or paintwork done?
What condition is the car in now. On a scale of 1-10, 1 being junkyard ready and 10 being a show car winner.
The more descriptive and honest you are, the more accurate they are.
i have a 96 vw jetta gls, black/beige cloth, automatic 95,000 miles. Within past 2 yrs I bought 4 new tires, complete exhaust system, brakes, timing/serpentine belt, alignment, and battery (have records) Had oil changes done by VW every 3,000 miles. clean carfax report I have a power sunroof, cd player, pioneer speakers in door and back, keyless entry/alarm. power windows/doors, A/C and heat still work like new. interior still in good condition, exterior has a few scratches. Never been in an accident. some web sites listed as $5,000 from a dealer...is that reasonable? thanks

White over tan leather. Leather and carpet are in excellent condition.
101,000 miles, all books and records since new, maintenance including R-134a retrofit up to date.Mobil 1 Oil since 50,000 miles. Cabin air pollen filter installed.
AM/FM CD tape player. Elec driver's seat, moonroof
New Michelin MXV 4 tires, to include full size spare with matching rim. Clean title. Paint is in great shape and is and rust/dent-free.
Vehicle is located in Texas.
Based on what you are tellin' us .. it sounds really nice, perhaps going towards the "baby doll" category, but I would be guessing.
New sneakers, right color in and out, all the service and a interior that looks 01 .. hmmmm, probably in and around that $7ish figure on a trade, if it's as nice as you say it is.
Hey, let us know ...
Terry.
The miles are ok, It has all the stuff, including the shade, it's the right color, we have some meteorite impacts on the starboard and port side .. and we got a little "pick-eye" ..
Somewhere in and around the $21ish figure .. with the new body styles out, these I30's are kinda all over the place as far as the numbers go.
Terry.
It sounds like perhaps, the vehicle needs bunches of work and it looks 95 .. or the dealer was perhaps light on the figures ..
Interesting, so let us know ...
Terry.
Anyway, these can be had for small dollars .. and run til the cows come home. Nice, clean GS's with 20/30k (00's) are doing around that High $11ish figure and the 01's, with 11/13/15k are doing around that tall $13ish figure. So add some more miles and obviously the price at the block will come down ..
Terry.
I'm back from the Annual Vauxhall-Bedford Owners club annual rally at Billing Aquadrome in Northampton, England.
OK, the 97 850? It's a $6,500 car wholesale so ask $8900 and banter from there. I think you should "GET" $8K out of it.
The 528i? What? It's got Paintwork and is Black/Black in FL? Aint worth no $19K even then.
Bill
What are Santa Fes doing at the auctions? Not planning to sell, just curious whether they're doing any better than most Hyundai's resale wise. For reference (and to avoid being sent to my room) mine is a
'01 Santa Fe LX 2WD
Merlot (dark red)
21k miles
Auto, V6
Leather
Heated seats
CD - no cassette
ABS / Traction control
No slider, but none of 'em do.
Basically, every option except AWD. I seem to recall you saying good things about these in the past, but Edmunds still doesn't let you search for prior posts in a board.
Thanks,

Auto, air, CD, power drivers seat, power windows/locks, radio controls on steering wheel. Tires have about 10,000 miles on them. Interior is black and in very good condition. The exterior is dark green and has one very small rust spot(1/8" x 2") on the passenger side door.
What is a reasonable amount I could expect a Ford dealer to give me as trade in on a new Explorer.
'94 Acura Integra LS (loaded), 5 speed 2 door coupe..
Red exterior, black interior. Sunroof, CD. Carpet and interior are in new condition. No cigarettes, tears, anything. Interior honestly appears in mint condition.
115,000 miles, all books and records since new, well maintained, oil changes, etc.
Brand new tires, clean title, but some paintwork on rear driver's fender from when it's been tapped parallel parking. The rest of the exterior paint is in great shape and is and rust/dent-free. Car was just detailed, buffed, shampooed, etc.. Vehicle is located in San Diego CA.
Edmunds says $5,200--one lexus dealer said $3,100--which seems absurd. But maybe not. Opinions?
'98 Honda CRV EX 5 speed. Added leather steering wheel cover and front mud guards.
Dark Blue with Gray Interior. Interior is in new condition. 67,000, with all books and records since new. Maintenance is up to date. About 80% on tires, clean title. Small ding in back driverside bumper, no body damage. The paint is in great shape with lots of shine and is rust/dent-free. Vehicle is located in Virginia, zip 23456.
Even if the truck is put back to 100% perfect condition, obviously there is still diminished value. In fact, here in Georgia the insurance companies are required to make up for it, and they have a formula they use (actually two different formulas from what I hear). Given the high sticker price ($39,826) and the newness of the vehicle, I am very concerned about getting a fair valuation. I talked to a used car manager, and he claims that there would be no difference to him if a vehicle has been wrecked or not, as long as it was put together well. I've never heard anyone else with that opinion...
With the given information, is it possible to estimate how much the value of the vehicle has dropped in the real world? I plan on selling it (or trading it in) in December, and it will most likely have 6k miles on it at the time.
All opinions are appreciated!
At any rate, in reference to my 00 blk/gray Navigator 2WD, things didn't go as planned. I returned to the dealership to inspect further, decided to discuss numbers. As you may recall, salesman quoted me 'around' $30k on the quick drive the other day. Between visits, I found an ad they posted A MONTH ago for $31,995. Well when asked for his best price prior to negotiating, he comes back w/ $32,5 (discount from $34,5). "But that's $2,5 over what you quoted the other day and what you said 'had room' on, not too mention $600 over your advertised price" Nobody could figure out who placed the ad, but the VIN and mileage matched. Regardless, they were WAY above clean retail. I calmly negotiated in the same manner in which I purchased my '01 Infiniti at $3k under invoice, but to no avail. Using Terry's suggestions as well as a F&I friend in SC, who concured about pricing, I explained that my couteous freinds in the biz recommended I not pay more than $25/$26, thinking I may possibly go to $27 if we could do it today (already admitted they have no DOC fee or anything). Manager began dealing w/ me at that point, claims he has $29 and change in it, won't go below $30,8. Well that was the end of that, similar to my experience w/ the Jeep dlr (who was supposed to be a 'friend'), claiming he had $25,4 in an '01 JGC 4x4, sellin to me @ $25,8, when everyone said he shouldn't have more than $20 in it, and I should go for $22.
Back to the drawing board for me...thanks for your help

That's all I can remember, anyway, isn't that weird, they went from that to a Sable inside of two hours. So anyway, mgr comes to me, "i have an idea", shows me the truck while they're driving off in their Sable, says he'll do me a quick flip for $36,9. They were about to close, but said I could come by tomorrow. Not what I was looking to spend, but hard to resist a good deal, if it is one. Too much info for me to process all at once, any thoughts?
Edmunds shows new invoice at about $42, not inlcuding the extras unique to the vehicle, especially the grill, xtra tint, spoiler and navigation, not sure about the two tone paint, i've never seen it before
karz
anyway, i found a new ad near my city for a '99 navigator, 2wd, blk/gry, w/ only 27,5k mi
here's the thing, he's got new 23" rims, an aftermarket DVD w/ 3 tvs and at the very least, additional bass via 3 12" speakers, if not additional stereo upgrades
i hope i haven't lost you yet, i realize that doesn't appeal to everyone, but i think i would actually like getting ahold of something like that for the right price
i think i can get a pretty good idea of what the xtras would retail for, and i wouldn't consider the wheels a straight add, unless the OEM came w/ also, but where do you start fair negotiating on something like that (in this case from what appears to be a prvt seller)
i would think he's better off selling the rims, stereo, etc separately, but may not be worth the trouble, the video stuff would prob have to stay or would mess up the interior, what should he sacrifice for the convenience of selling it as a pkg, and advantage of getting a little more than he could get on a trade?

Trade 98 Jeep Cherokee Classic White 76k miles
Auto, full time 4WD, full power, air ( blows cool, not ice cold) appraiser pointed out tranny linkage feels loose( I can't argue about it) and front drivers side scratch (touched up by dealer when purchased) about 1" long. He offered $5600 and I believe this falls into the range you quoted me about 6 weeks ago ( I can't remember the exact post.
Purchase 2000 VW Jetta GL Dark Blue stripped model 5 spd a/c power locks, abs, cassette. No sunroof, alloys, leather or power locks. 18K miles
A little bit of a scuff on passenger fender, should buff out I think.
Internet price $13213
They also have a 99 jetta GLS w/ 33k, 5spd, similar equipped except it has power locks.
Internet price $11762
These are both New Body style Jettas. What do you guys think? Thanks in advance.
Anyway, if you really like your new car, enjoy it. That's the important part. As long as your happy, its a good deal. A few hundred dollars either way shouldn't change that.

I was wanting trade in value (North Carolina) for a 1996 Acura Integra LS sedan, dark green with tan interior, cloth seats and manual transmission but everything else loaded, including moonroof, premium sound with upgraded alpine cd changer in the trunk, only 56K miles--tires are getting rather worn (3 of 4 original, 1 replaced after an ice puncture) and a couple of small "door dings" on the pasenger side from the parking garage, otherwise maintenance up to date and no mechanical problems--
The f/u questions is, would be worth the price of getting new tires myself in order to get more for trade in value?
Thanks in advance--
