Car would prob trade in the $18-19,000 range.
Considering how far you have to go in your lease, you aren't in a bad position.
I doubt its gonna get much better for you, so you might consider trading.
Good job.
Looking to sell/trade/etc my wife's 2005 Jet Black Mini Cooper S with manual tranny.
It's got 20k miles, has just about every option (Premium Pkg, Sport Pkg, Convenience Pkg, Cold Weather Pkg, Cockpit Chrono Package, MINI OEM alarm system, Chrome Line Exterior, Chrome Line Interior, Rear Fog Lamps, Harman-Kardon Sound System).
The car has been garage maintained, has new run flats, and never been in any sort of accident or damage. It is still under BMW's full service maintenance warranty until 3 yrs/36k miles and limited warranty until 4 yrs/50k miles).
All maintenance has been done at a certified MINI dealership, and there have been no aftermarket modifications.
The only defect is 2 of the rims were scraped - to me they look minor but the dealership says it's a big deal to potential MINI buyers.
Was offered 15k on trade, is that fair?
So you may be a little light on the trade.

Trading this low mileage Mini to a dealer......you could get much more Private Party, I'm guessing. The dealer's gonna mark it up, what, $5K, or more?
Sounds to this amateur like a car screaming to be sold privately, with a few extra $$thou for your troubles.
PS- 2 of the rims were scraped, boo hoo, means the car is so nice the dealer is "grasping at straws" to find anything to criticise.......

With those miles and without bun warmers, I think you might be a bit lower than $20k .... but, then again, you are in Omaha. How that affects the value, I have no idea.

just serviced, so should need nothing. Good tires and brakes.
Needs a detail, but never in an accident. Owners never had any problems with it. Drove fine around the block.
Owner did smoke at one point, so there is some lingering odor that I would have to work on (my son, who the car is for, said it smelled like a rental!).
Generally a nice older car with good mileage.

I bought a 2008 Toyota Corolla CE in Sept 2007. It has 12,000 miles on it but is like new. Given new life circumstances I need to sell or trade the car in and find a way to stop making monthly payments. I don't need or want a car at this point.
Will the dealership buy it sell as a used car? I know the value of the car is significantly less now, but I just need to find a way to get it off my hands.
Please help.

Now the hard part: What discount if the Carfax shows an accident (unspecified) and a repo, but an independent check went well and the car drives fine??
Much appreciated. Decision early next week?
Is this car at a Porsche Dealership? I just can't see a Porsche dealer selling any used car with an accident indicator let alone a repo.
Has the timing belt been changed? That was due at 105K miles.
Thats a re-build waiting to happen!
Plenty of other Boxsters out there.
Pay a little more and get a CPO one from a Porsche store.
Plus, if you buy this one, you are gonna get HAMMERED at trade in time.

Came with the premium package so: leather interior, power driver seat, 6 disc CD with upgraded JBL system and 17" alloy wheels.
The car's exterior is in great condition. Pint is very glossy, top has no discoloration and beads water just fine (keep it pretty well maintained). There is a ding in the driver side and a small scratch from some careless person in a parking lot. Nothing serious at all, though. some of the wheels have been scratched due to curbs, also.
Interior is in good condition except that there is a small spot on the driver seat where color has been rubbed off... maybe the size of a penny. Other than that, seats and dash have been well maintained since the top has spent a lot of time in the down condition... no really serious wear and tear from what I see, but it's not like the car is brand new inside.
Tires are original, so they are pretty worn i think... tread is OK.
Never had any mechanical failures on this car... drives just as good as day one. I figure this might be a good time to get high value for it, considering the warming temps in FL.
So, what's my trade in value? Also, what's a good value for private sale? Just weighing my options right now.
Thanks so much!!
VG
Given the reconditioning on your car, you are probably closer to $21,000
Private party should be $2-3000 more.

(i) What that means -- "rebuild waiting to happen" -- is that when the timing belt breaks in your engine, it'll either completely destroy the engine and you'll need a new one, or it'll just bend some valves, requiring > $1,000 worth of work.
It's preventive maintenance that HAS to be done on Honda engines, or else. For details, look up "interference engine" on wikipedia or somewhere.... Ford, Toyota, and some others typically have more forgiving designs.
(ii) What he didn't say but a lot of us thought: You've put 128k on this thing, you haven't maintained it properly, and now you think it's time to ditch it.
This is the reason I stopped looking for a used Subaru, btw; most owners follow exactly this pattern, and I got tired of it. Especially the ones that looked good, had maintenance needs as log as my arm, and were declared to be in "excellent" condition.
I've looked at a couple hundred cars, maybe twice that, in the past 15 years... all but two were in "excellent" condition. Maybe that's why I'm jaded.
Anyway, from a seller's point of view, not doing the maintenance is a pretty smart strategy, since it's a cheap way to have a reliable car, and most people don't know the difference.
(iii) As far as value; I'll guess that a dealer will price the service in and come in a little under $5 if the car is otherwise nice... it is eight years old and has a bunch of miles, but it's still a Honda, and by your description, it sounds above average...
I'm guessing that on the street, you could see high $6's for it, maybe a little over $7 if it shows nice.
Not of my money, though, because I know what rust belt cars look like underneath after eight years. Even easy fixes become a nighmare because the bolts won't budge.
Selling older Hondas is usually smarter than buying them... they sure hold their value.
Good luck, -Mathias
Yes, do one or the other. I don't know how many dealers will actually give you more $$ with a new timing belt--mainly Honda dealers would even ask (?)--but that's just an amateur guess.
OTOH, if you replaced the belt for $600, & kept it for 3 more months, it'd only cost you $200/month. The thing you (probably) don't want to do is pay the $600, & trade it a week late (unless the belt is due to break 6 days from now).
Of course, other stuff in addition to the timing belt "could" also need replacement on a 128K mile car in the next 3 months, even on a Honda......PS--even if you trade it in the next week or 2, don't forget to pray on the way to do the deal at the car dealer.....& take the short route.....
As always, I appreciate your help.
