Charger will be in the $31k zip code.

Porsche - well, I've got 3 in that $23k-$24k range and then 1 that was at $20,400. No obvious reason for the variation. The aftermarket exhaust on such a car bugs me a bit. Even if we overlook the issues, I'd say $26k-$26.5k is top of the mark from a 3rd-party retailer. I'd want it lower through that private party sale. As shifty said, it has an expensive flaw that needs to be addressed.

    Thanks!

Was hoping to get a trade in estimate on 2012 Durango Crew AWD. Very good condition. Leather/Nav/htd seats / 3rd row/mn rf/ remote st

    27,000 mi

It is leased and I am not planning on staying with dodge, so I am curious to what they might give me. Also what might Infiniti or Acura give me if I lease something else for them. FYI I can by for $19k when lease is done In Jan.

    Thx

debating making a run at a 1 owner, local bought/serviced Jetta. clean carfax.

So, what should it go for (at a non-VW dealer chain)

2009 Jetta SE. 2.5l, automatic. 66,000 miles. Looks very clean in pictures. Moonroof, otherwise other standard SE stuff (I think they came pretty well standardly loaded then).

Assuming it is clean as claimed, what would be reasonable to shoot for?

$10K--ish tops, if you just love it and it's super nice, $9K is more like private party retail.

    stickguystickguy Member Posts: 50,558
interestingly enough, the dealer just marked it down. When I first saw it, they had it at $9,750. Now listed online at $9,000 even. Which was more in line with the "if I was gonna do it I would shoot for this price" price.

So it does sound like they want to move it now. I'm just no positive that it is the right type of car to add to the small fleet.

Something different. The opposite of German. A Toyota!

local seller (my town). Claims to be 2nd owner, and clean carfax. Looks nice in pictures.

a 2005 Highlander. V6. AWD. Looks like a limited. Blue, tan leather, moonroof, 3rd row (in case I need to transport 3' tall people). New tires and brakes. Just passed NJ inspection.

only drawback, it has 123K on it. Should not be a big deal for one of these, but certainly something to consider for pricing.

asking $7750, which sounds high (but has been on CL for a bit).

what do the experts think would be a good price for this puppy? I figure it could serve many purposes. Could be a fine send to college mobile. Or I could keep as an offset to the RDX to absorb some miles. Seems odd to have 2 compact CUVs, but I am not known for doing things normally.

I don't think I'd offer more than $6500--maybe $6700. A good price would be $6K if there's something you can hammer on like a little dent or something not functioning.
  • Options
    stickguystickguy Member Posts: 50,558
We seem to think alike. I was thinking 6K and it could give a few years of solid use for little money.

Or, maybe it was the bunch of people that kept emailing from my Volvo ad, offering me 5K. No questions, sight unseen. Just "will you take 5K?"

odd thing was, every one offered exactly that amount.

    Stick

My book keeper has a 2006 Highlander (V6 FWD). She's got close to that mileage & the car shows no sign of fading. Interestingly enough, a few years ago she had an accident that caused $8K in damage. Her insurance co WOULD NOT TOTAL it. It is a Toyota & it does hold its value.

You really need to find the right buyer on Craig's list. Too many people looking for cheap cars they can flip for fast cash. They lowball you to see how desperate you are to sell the car. You ask $7500, they give you $5,000 cash, turn around & list it for $6500, & take the 1st $5,500 that comes along.

CL has really gone down hill. I have about given up on finding much there, but I still give it a shot. My wife is tired of it, and would rather just buy something new and forget about it. I however, am in this for the long haul!

Though I am getting tired of her saying that I won't ever make a decision, and will probably regret it when I finally do get something. I guess we have been married a long time.

Used pickup prices are nuts! Looking through the local paper today and saw a 2006 Dodge Dakota - Silver, 4WD, V8, Quad Cab, 30K miles. Dealer is asking $16,746. Did that thing even sticker for $27K eight years ago?

I'm thinking $18 - $18,500 ish. If that's the case, I'll just keep it until I pay it off in about 18 months.

Nothing, unless it is significantly more. I was thinking of trading in, pocketing the difference between my loan balance and what we owe on the Pilot to use towards the kitchen rennovation this coming spring/summer.

I know my wife doesn't LOVE it. She says it is OK, but really wants something with a power opening/closing tail gate. We've really cut down on its miles to 12K to 13K per year so I figured maybe I could lease her something for much less than the $678.66 per month we are paying to finance it. We only have 18 months left to pay it off.

My interest was sparked by seeing $0 down $235/month 12K leases on a 2014 Pathfinder S 4WD. Residuals for equivalently equipped SUVs look dismal right now though (Pathfinder Platinum 4WD, Durango). Maybe I would look into a Sienna too.

Good evening, I'm new here but another moderator pointed me in this direction after a lease discussion.
I fear (Know) that I will have negative equity in my currently financed vehicle, but it will made a significant impact to negotiate aggressively as the negative equity will be rolled into a 24 month lease.
2013 Hyundai Tucson GLS, 22.5k miles, blue, roof rails, auto, cloth, 4 cyl, cargo kit, first aid kit, perfect condition (after a nice detailing just prior to showing up at the dealership with pre-negotiated lease terms on new vehicle). Tires are excellent, all service records, zero mechanical or aesthetic damage, non smoker. Zip code 32796 (never seen winter)
Any insights? I figured I would push hard for $17K but it would be a stretch?

    Thanks!

Damn. Listed at $28,500 today. That's rock bottom, methinks. Its auction value is right around there, and you've got the CPO to boot? They could send it off to auction, pay the transport and fees, and probably walk away with $27,500 or so.

So, for that 2013 Tuscon GLS, mid 13's? Just curious, since I've got a '14 SE and it's the middle grade Tuscon now, just curious how these rigs depreciate just in case I decide to switch out of it a bit earlier than I'd normally do...think the better half would kill me though. I do like it but I don't love it if that makes any sense! But I do love the whole cuv thing though.

    Is that AWD or FWD?
I'm not the post office, but can I assume that zip is associated with somewhere warm?

    Yes Titusville :-) FWD, sorry

So, for that 2013 Tuscon GLS, mid 13's? Just curious, since I've got a '14 SE and it's the middle grade Tuscon now, just curious how these rigs depreciate just in case I decide to switch out of it a bit earlier than I'd normally do...think the better half would kill me though. I do like it but I don't love it if that makes any sense! But I do love the whole cuv thing though.

I hope messages crossed paths... if it's only$13K, I'm keeping it till I die! :-) I don't think anyone has provided a value yet, though.

Oh boy. Well, you won't like this, then. You'll probably be getting offers of $14k. Maybe less. They are only fetching $15k at auction.
