..... A ultra clean GLE, with just average miles, is doing in and around that $19ish figure at the block...

I know about the balloon and all that stuff. I don't know how someone could get into a contract like that and not know what was going on. I know someone who that happend to though.

They did give me a good deal on the trade, and I was happy. And with the balloon, I know I would be way over the mileage constraints of the contract (it's only 60K, and I have 6K in 2 months already). I am going to refinance the car in about a year through my credit union. I wanted the car now though, instead of waiting for my credit to get better and getting it later. I know, I am impatient. :)

And I also never said buying 3 new cars in 2 years made me an expert. I do know what I am talking about though. But I do think it's somewhat of an accomplishment. It just looks like you have a little more accomplished than I do. :)

They apparently sold the Protege from the dealer. I haven't seen it on the lot recently. They had it tagged for $13,900, and someone would have to be dumb to pay that for a 2001 with 20K on it. Maybe they did, I don't know. But it took them almost 2 months to sell the car. So they lost all the way around on the deal I would think.

    Hey,

    Just wanted to post ....

I am getting 11.2K for my 97 Mitsu Eclipse, and I am getting the 02 Acura RSX Coupe for roughly $800 over invoice....good or bad deal?
  • rroyce10rroyce10 Member Posts: 9,332
....... If you are getting $11,200 (real money) for your vehicle --grab it--

Looks like you will have 2 Christmas's in one week...

Thanks. I don't care if it's real money or not!
Just having them give black book in the middle of the winter on my car works for me!
It also helps that now I have a nice downpayment on the new car!
Bad part is I have to wait until one comes in, they don't have the color I want on the lot, plus the ones on the lot have alot of add-ons that I don't want!
  • rroyce10rroyce10 Member Posts: 9,332
....... Yep, time to trade that ol' Benz in, probably has some dust on it by now. .l.o.l.

That ol' beater will get you around $31ish on a trade.

The 99 CLK 320/430 (by the way my favorite, I have had 3) ... is actually a great buy. There a coupe, and people are not driving the prices crazy. A 20K 320, clean to the bone will do "around" $31/32ish and a 430 will do "around" $36/$37ish depending on color, options ..and care.

    I hope this helps...

The 7 year 100,000 mile warranty offered by DC made it tempting for me to trade our well equipped 99 GC SE in on a 2002 T&C eL or GC eL. Chrysler dealer quoted $11,500. Dodge dealer said $9000 - $11,000. Average internet pricing was $12,725 trade in value.
We have all the options of a 99 GC SE except remote locking doors and security system. MSRP was $27,490 (but we paid much less). Van in mint condition with 36,457 miles.
We have looked at all minivans. Sedona drove well and appears to be a good bargain until one notices the lack of ABS, and other items. Sienna probably the best reliability but pricey and small. GM minivans look and feel cheap and are overpriced when compared to Odyssey and DC.
Odyssey has the highest resale but I would hate to give up my nice comfort and convenience features unique to DC minivans.

    Thanks Bill!

I just had to find the right dealer, that was all!

they gave you sound about right to me. There are lots of '99s in the marketplace right now. Push them a little for another $500, but don't expect more than that.

I love it when you folks in Hotlanta and FL have snow and we here in Chitown DON'T (and haven't all winter, except minor flurries). Send some my way, please.

My friend just got it, it black with gray leather mostly clean couple of minor scratches. This car is in NYC area. My friend is thinking of trading it in on a 97 or 98

Hey Bill and Terry. Happy New year if I haven't already said so. I'm not sure if I want to drive 200 miles to look at this one in Louisville KY, but it sounds nice. It's black on black, options are HID lights, moonroof, CD changer, heated seats. It only has 18,260 miles. They are asking $45,000 (I don't think so!) Edmunds says $36,249 certified which this one is, and $1050 less if it isn't certified. Thoughts oh wise ones?

    Thanks,
    Quentin
  • im_brentwoodim_brentwood Member Posts: 4,883
Hmm.. $10,500 is what I think.. buut.. Like Terry said... We just saw someone do real well on a Mitsu convertble in a snowstorm :)

Quentin.. $45,000? HUH? What is it? An LS430?

what can I expect for a 99 toyota camry LE with 30,000 miles. the car is in good shape.
  • qwallsqwalls Member Posts: 406
Oops, it was late. The LS400 mentioned in post 4419 is a 1999. I guess you need that to give me an idea of what it's worth. :-)

....... These vehicles can "grab" all the money.. if.. they are clean, all the service stuff poring out of the glove box -- the tires are new .... Ya know, it just looks right ... A better description would help.

If the scratches don't need a re-paint, just a buff and clean, it's worth around the $8/$9's..

    Hello all,
I am looking at at CPO '98 528 with 24K on it. A/T, prem pkg, heated seats, memory seats and traction control. Car is in great cond (body, tires, etc.). What is a fair price to pay from the dealer?
    Thanks,
    metmdx

....... Hey.. wake up.. it's bad enough people drop post's with no descriptions ---- But, you should know better...! (Go to your room) ..l.o.l.

Ok, lets see ... it's a 99, and this puppy has like .. no miles and it's the .. Right Color, green.. no, red.. no. .... Let me guess, it's a very dark Academy gray, or charcoal ... nope, it's black.

The vehicle "sounds" real nice .... and personally, I have picked a few baby dolls out of Lexington -- so let's assume it's a ..9.75 on a 10.

They probably own this puppy for around .. $34/$35ish -- figure the stuff, lot charge, service, dent Dr., scratch and sniff.. etc, etc,.. they got $36 and change in it..

You got to pay for those miles ... Locked and loaded, with cash in fist..(CIF), I would start em' up at $38 and travel to the $39ish figure .... it all depends on how much you like it ...! -- I have a good feelin' on this one, like a said, I have bought some flat dead beauties out of Lexington ...

Good luck, and let us know...

    Terry.
  • qwallsqwalls Member Posts: 406
Thanks! What can I say? I was trying to get all of the little details, and I forgot one of the most important ones. :-) That's a bit more than I wanted to spend (that's why I was looking at '98s), but it may be worth the extra $$. I appreciate the info.

    Here are a couple more.

My Dad is considering selling his '95 Caddy DeVille. It is black (I got it honestly) with tan interior. No moonroof, 44k miles, alarm system with remote start, CD changer, leather, heated seats. He'd like to sell it himself if he sells it, and he'd like to get $12k for it. I think he's dreaming. It's clean, but it looks like there may have been some airbrushing on the driver's side to take care of some scratches. You can't hide anything with black paint. He paid $23k for it 4-5 years ago. It was over $40k new.

A friend is looking for a '99 Lincoln Navigator. I'm not really familiar with the options, but he's expecting miles in the mid 40s, and wanting to pay $25-27k.

    Thanks,
    Q

Can I come out of my room now? :-)

No year... sheesh.. dont make me smack you again...

    :))

I agree with Terry, shoot for $38-39K..

    Oh... btw..

he'd like to get $12k for it. I think he's dreaming.

Your dad is dreaming in Technicolor. If the car is "all there" and "in the wrapper" you know the drill, a car as nice as what you'd wanna buy..

    $10K retail.

    Bill
  • rroyce10rroyce10 Member Posts: 9,332
....... Ok, you can come out of your room now ... IF, you cleaned it first.

$12 large.. huh..? ..Ooooh. Like, that's a lot.

How about a little less, the nice clean low milers are doing "around" that $6/$7ish figure at the block. A real good detailer will make that vehicle glow in the dark. Black and tan .. sharp.(light, thin, gold pinstripe)

I'm thinkin' if you want to sell it .... instead of just runnin' an Ad for the grins and giggles -- He might consider running a real nice Ad in the Columbus and Akron paper for like ... Ooh, $9950.

Let some nice Minister beat him silly, for like, Ya know .... $9,1/$9,3/$9,500, there is a lot of my favorite buyers out there right now.. Cash buyers.

Quick sale ... Quick cash ...

    Terry.
  • midtowneastmidtowneast Member Posts: 49
thanks for the price I will try to get a better description.
  • qwallsqwalls Member Posts: 406
Bill - there you go getting violent again. :-) I thought you were getting better sending people to their rooms. :-)

Terry - Aw, I have to clean it. :-(

I appreciate the info. I'll email the dealership with an offer of $38k, but even at $39k, I don't see them coming down $6000. I guess anything is possible though.

On my Dad's Caddy, Edmunds had come back around $10k, and I told him that was probably a best case scenerio. He said he wanted $12, or he'd probably be keeping it. I think he'll be keeping it. I gave him your numbers, and all he said was "Wow!" I told him he shouldn't be surprised since he bought it two years old at $20k off of the new MSRP. It's only lost another $13-14k in the last 4-5 years. :-) I guess it's clean enough for me to buy as a '95, but not as a '97 or later.

Can you give me a ball park figure of what '99 Lincoln Navigators with 45k miles, 4WD are doing now? It's for a friend, and his budget is $25-27k.

    Thanks,

My wife has a 1990 Corolla (automatic) with 143,000 miles. We've always maintained this vehicle well except that the clear-coat has given way on one front fender.

What can be expect a new car dealer to offer us for it on trade-in (on a Honda Accord)? What about a used car dealer?

    Thanks in advance

a 2000 Mazda 626 6cyl EX with automatic. 16k miles. Car has every option, leather, Bose w/cd/moonroof/abs w/traction control/16"alloy wheels. Color is Chestnut w/beige leather interior. Thanks
  • vocusvocus Member Posts: 7,777
I don't know the value of the 626s, but I know they take a pretty hard hit come trade-in time. They are always running rebates and all on them, so don't be surprised if the value is lower than what you thought.

    ...... I'm sure it doesn't make your Dad happy ... I understand.

I just bought a 99 19K Seville SLS yesterday for a friend all toyed up, heated seats, chromes, slider.. Like new, paid the moon for it at $18,900, bought a 31K 98 Deville for his wife 3 wks ago.. in the wrapper vehicle for $13.

But anyway ... The 99 Nav's, 25/30K with the quads, in dash, tow pack, chromes, slider, heated door knobs, back-up beep beep..( I like those) are doing "around" that $24ish figure -- So he's right on the $$. A 45K vehicle he should get for let's say ....$24/$25 easy.

Clean it up, through it the paper with a nice 5 liner Ad in the biggest paper in your area for $2980.. have all the service records ready and let some guy beat you silly to .. let's say, $1,9/$2,1/$2,300 ....

    I hope this helps...

Thanks again. Those are some awesome prices on the Caddys. Almost makes me want to consider one...almost. I emailed an offer of $38k (actually $37,750 to start) on the '99 Lexus. They responded in less than an hour and came down from $44.9k to $41.3k. The sales lady seemed very personable in the message, explained how wonderful the certification was, and that it was worth $2000, justified her number using NADA, etc. Said they had the best cars in the city, that it was a great deal, etc. I said I appreciated her prompt response, but I really can't go over $39k right now. This was a couple hours ago, and I haven't heard back from her yet. I guess we'll see what happens. Thanks again, and have a great weekend.

Hey Bud, if this thing get's close -- kick the warranty..! That will save you $1,500/$1,800, and buy one for much less, from one of these knot heads from Edmunds .... hmmmm.

    Good Luck .....!!!

........ This vehicle has nooo miles, this thing isn't even broken in yet ...

I will assume it looks and drives .. new..!

The dealer probably dropped $25 plus, to get it. So by the time the service is in place, a little this ..and a little that, it hit's the deck at around $26ish. On your end, I think a fair price would be around $29ish.

    Let us know ...
