HI...I took my '04 Mits back because I could hear the wind squealing in my ear, even with all the windows up. They replaced the weather strip and it still does it. I'm trying to make sure I'm not crazy...Help!

Hello...I had that same noise and at the same speeds. I took my Endeavor to the dealership I bought it from. The problem is the drive shaft.
The mechanic who has always taken good care of me rode and heard the sound and then put it up on the rack and told me exactly where it was. Glad it was still under warranty. He fixed the problem and no more noise. I will say that I talked to the manager of the service dept. who is driving an endeavor. When I first called, he told me it was probably coming from the dash and not a problem. The noise got worse and had to bring it in. So, go to the dealership and let them know it's the drive shaft on the AWD. They will have to replace the whole thing.

I just brought an endeavor home today to test and there was wind from the lower front window--I looked at it and there is a small "L" shaped plastic part about 4" long that is loose. I lifted it up and you could see under the window--thats where the wind is entering on mine--problably just nn to be sealed

MILEAGE UPDATE - With the mileage at 2,204 I have FINALLY broken my old high of 15.8 mpg (I have only been using 91 octane fuel). I got 17.2 mpg! Took it on a trip right after that from upstate NY to Cape Cod and back. Got 21.0 mpg on the way out and 21.8 mpg on the way back cruising along at 65 mph for 5 hours. Hopefully the mileage will continue to improve. I'm not complaining though. I knew what the mileage estimates were going in. I have found no dislikes so far with this vehicle. All vehicles should be made like the Endeavor. So many little extras and the fit and finish rivals more expensive vehicles. The heated leather seats are incredibly comfortable on long drives too. No regrets with 'Big Blue' at all.

I bought my Endeavor in Oct 04, had noise problems from the beginning, I was told to use Premium fuel and that it the noise was because it is an AWD. Took it in again this week and they replaced the rear end, then I learned that the rear end had been replaced at 300 miles also. I bought it new w/ 5000 miles on it. I'm very concerned that this will be an ongoing issue.

Drove home the new 05 today with hopes it is better than the SUV I traded in. Time will tell, but if my previous experience with Mitsubishi with a 98 Diamante has anything to do with it, this should be a very smooth 4 years. The Mitsu. Dealer in Park Ridge Il. was very willing to deal. The 10 yr. power train warranty along with 5 years of free scheduled service iced the deal for me. This car has just enough gadgets to keep me happy without getting crazy with technology, something Chevy tried to do with disastrous results. Too many gadgets meant too many malfunctions and repairs.
  • endy04endy04 Member Posts: 1
Response to that Arthur they seem to be common for some reason. Supposedly the brought in an engineer from Mitsu to look at that since 3 Endy's outside of mine came in with the same problem. Everyone just make sure if you hear a noise such as what Arthur described as long as your powertrain warranty is good take it in there otherwise prepare to pay out to get it fixed.

I just bought the XM radio SKYFi2 and need to get it installed. Has anyone installed one in their car and if so, where did you mount it?? :confuse:
  • sq2005sq2005 Member Posts: 1
Where did you get it? I also live upstate and I'm not seeing those kind of deals
  • hellcat51hellcat51 Member Posts: 30
I picked it up from Otto Mitsubishi in Clifton Park. Great guys to deal with both in sales and service. :)
  • arthur1arthur1 Member Posts: 3
Teddyg was complaining of a noise you would hear when the car was traveling anywhere from 25 to 45 mph. It is a noise that is similar to a bearing noise or fan belt noise. The noise was actually in the drive train and had to replace whole shaft.
There was no cost to me as it was under warranty.
  • ficussficuss Member Posts: 541
Does anyone know the sales numbers for the Endeavor?
  • dddddddddddddddddd Member Posts: 1
we had it mounted it on a bracket on top of the dash, just to the left of the sightline between the driver's eye and the clock. we had this done professionally, and they initially mounted this on the right of the drivers seat. this installation looked much better, but we judged it unsafe as it takes your eyes too far off of the road too frequently...

Hello all. Has anyone installed the fender flares yet? I've seen them in a catalog for the Endeavor and I am waiting for a set to arrive at the local dealers before deciding whether to buy them or not. Got the cargo tray and bug deflector so far. Still loving 'Big Blue' after 4 months and 28 miles! :D
  • hellcat51hellcat51 Member Posts: 30
Uh, make that 2800 miles.......

What did the dealer say about the hot air. I have taken my endeavor to two dealerships and they say it is normal. What??? Hot air coming out of the vents even when it is set on the blue area of the dial.

Were you able to get this problem resolved?
  • mapzzmapzz Member Posts: 1
After 339 miles I arrived home and found cooling fluid leaking from the radiator area.
No visible punctures in the exposed radiator below the front bumper.
I called Mitsubishi. The tow truck arrived 1 hour later. The dealer was closing but said they'd jump on it first thing. I called this morning, and they said there was a hole in the radiator caused by a defect. They said they were replacing it, and it would be ready today. No gripes here, but I will be installing something to protect the radiator under the front bumper.
    Quick response from Mitsubishi.
Thumbs up for my Endeavor and the dealer who sold me.
  • hellcat51hellcat51 Member Posts: 30
I would be interested to know what's available to shield the radiator. My dealer was unaware of anything on the market. Nick.
  • janejjanej Member Posts: 2
I have had the same problem. When I brought it to the dealer with 103 degree air coming from the vents, he said it was normal. What, I said. can't be. In other words he is saying that I must keep the air conditioning running so the heat doesn't come on. Why then do they have a dial with blue going to red to set the temperature from cool to hot?? This can not be correct.

POST #122==Look on ebay under Mitsubishi Endeavor--There's a billit grille that's made to fit the lower opening on the Endeavor. It's not my cup of tea, but it will add some protection in front of the radiator. POST #123== There have been several posts over the past year reguarding hot air traveling thru the dash vents. A solution was posted that if you turn on the air recycle button the hot air flow stops. I tried it and it works. Bill C.

This is not normal. Mistubishi has TSBs related to this problem. One for the 2004 Endeavor is 04-23-001

I am looking for a GPS/NAV system to put in my 2005 Endeavor. I am currently leaning toward the TomTom go 300. Anyone had any experiences, good or bad with GPS units in an Endeavor ?

Anyone know the best way to remove the two plastic covers at the rear posts of
the roof rack so that I can install the cross-members ? The page that came in the
boxes referred to pg 51-14 in the Service Manual. Unfortunately the picture is not
ver clear as to exactly how these come off.

I had the same experience, the black plastic covers slide backwards and pop off with very little force. good luck

I currently own an O4' Endeavor XLS and I am having difficulties with the lift gate. The liftgate will not open from the outside, nor will the window. No matter what I do, however on its own it may work or the window will just unlock after getting into the vehicle and will not lock back. The dealership, Newton Mitsubishi says they have no Idea what the problem is. Has anyone else had this type of problem.
  • tycoontycoon Member Posts: 1
I am 6"3 with longer torso. Just bought the Endeavor XLS and love everything about it except that the power drivers seat sits up high and could go another couple inches lower. My view is from the top of the windshield. Any suggestions or remedies for this? Im thinking I should have bought the pilot but the Endeavor is much nicer looking.
  • luvnlifeluvnlife Member Posts: 1
I have owned two Galants and a Mirage...all three did the same thing. This is "by design". The vents always remain open to prevent mold, mild for building up in the ventilation system. Turn the knob all the way to blue (coldest setting) and either turn the air circulation to defrost or floor, you won't notice it as much.

Has anyone upgraded to an MP3 palyer that will use RDS and still display on the Digital Display? I love my Endeavor and miss my MP3 player. I love the way the dash and the Digital display look and do not want to mess them up with an aftermarket In-Dash. So, I am trying to find out what type of Infinity stereo Mitsubishi is using, what types of Auxiliary connections are available, and if an RDS MP3/SAT Stereo is added, will it display in the digital display???
Has anyone tried anything like this??
    Thanks

Does anyone know where I can get one of the black plastic covers that slide off the back of the roof rack? I lost one of mine on the back left side and was told I may have to buy a whole new roof rack for it from the dealer.

    Help!!!

Having same problem as well, can't find any drain line or holes, underside of the car looks clean. Anyone have any ideas.

I'm also experienced a similar problem. CJ or Eteller has you guys able to resolves this problem. Anyway I could fix it or do I need to take it to Mitsubishi Service Center for repair? I would appreciate the feedback. Thanks.
  • cj426cj426 Member Posts: 2
after trying for weeks to figure out where the drain hole was i finally gave up and brought it back to the dealer. the only reason i didn't do this sooner is i hate leaving my car overnite for something so minor. anyway leaving it was not my only problem as the service manager told me this is part of maintenance (B.S)) and im not covered for this. to make a long story short it cost $97.00 inc tax. to have the dealer clean it out. sorry but i couldn't even find the mechanic to ask him where the drain is. one last thing this is a leased car if it happens again my passengers are gonna be wearing boots.

Bought a 2005 Endeavor LS AWD 2 weeks ago. I could not afford the more expensive model so I would like to upgrade as i can afford to. Does anyone know of a good cheap source for Mitsubishi parts and accessories? I really miss not having the external temperature display and compass. Does Mitsubishi offer that option and if so can it be installed in my LS. If anyone has any hot leads to pass along please do so.
    Thanks,

Hi Everyone. Im new here. Has anyone had this problem? When Im on the road I often feel vibrations from the road up through the chassis, through the gas pedal and in my feet. I know it seems minor but it drives me nuts. It was during a test drive on an XLS and an LS , and also on Highway and Sidestreets, and I was just wondering if it was just my bad luck or normal for the vehicle.

    Thank You in advance

I was told that it was normal, but now I found out a different malfunction with the AC system: If you drive the SUV for over 3 hours non-stop on summer temperature the AC will freeze and then there is no air coming from the vents. You need to turn off the AC until it defrost for at least 30 minutes.

I took it to the dealer, they replaced the part (after damaging the light bulbs on the center information display-another story...). After a few weeks that I had the replaced temperature sensor I went on vacation with the SUV and the same thing happened again. I rather turn off the AC and wait for it to defrost that taking it back to the dealer because they end up damaging other parts and this is a malfunction that happens after 3 hours of drive which I seldom do.

I have a 2004.5 Endeavor LS FWD (12,000 miles) and am having a problem with the left front suspension. When driving at low speeds, the suspension is very noisy (you can't hear it at fast speeds). After having it in to the dealer 3 times, I'm getting very discouraged. They have replaced the strut assembly and some bushing, but the noise keeps coming back. As it continually keeps getting worse, you can push down on the front end and hear the noise. The dealer tells me that when they put it on the lift, this stretches out everything, then they can't duplicate it. But by the time I have it home, it's back. Anyone having this problem or any ideas on what I can look at.
  • 1racefan1racefan Member Posts: 932
Can you elaborate on the type of noise? - creaking, thud, etc...
  • dmerchantdmerchant Member Posts: 5
Sure. I would say it is similar to a creaking noise, but more of a low pitch, not a high pitch. It is only coming fro the driver side. I had a couple Chrysler's back in the 90's that made this exact noise, which in both vehicles turned out to be the struts. I was told the fluid had leaked out of them. This is why when they first replaced the strut, I thought this would have fixed it. But within a few days, the noise came back.

The second thing they replaced was stabilizer bar bushings. This too corrected the problem, but just for a couple days.

Also, so far this is all being covered under warranty, but they sure take their sweet time getting the parts in. The strut took about 3 weeks. Thanks in advance for any help.

have them check the etacs control unit

have your dealer check tech talk issue from january for explenation for
    heat from vents

I'm also having the same problem with my 2004 Endeavor LS except in mine, the noise is on the right side. I've been to the dealer a number of times already. The strut was replaced a few months ago and that helped, but only for a few days. The noise then came back slowly. It's at the dealer again today, but I don't have a good feeling about it.

Anyone have this problem? Hopefully someone was lucky enough to get to the solution.
  • dmerchantdmerchant Member Posts: 5
Please keep me updated on this. I had mine back in a few weeks ago and was told they couldn't duplicate the noise after having it on the lift. Their thinking was that once on the lift, everything must have dropped down (stretched), so once they drove it, the noise couldn't be recreated. Well of course it is back and stronger than ever. I'm due for another oil change in a couple weeks, so I'll try again. My wife says that before the noise ever started she had heard a very loud bang from the front end while driving. She said it sounded like a car wreck. I'm guessing something is actually broke in the front end, but not knowing anything about suspensions, I can't give the dealer my 2 cents worth. I wish they just take the front end apart and actually be a mechanic, instead of just part swapping. It is becoming very frustrating to the point that I'm ready to trade for something more reliable.
  • a_ryan1972a_ryan1972 Member Posts: 7
Just picked up my Endeavor. Of course the mechanic can't see anything because once it's on the lift, it's good for a short while. They found two things wrong that MIGHT contribute to this noise.

    1. The oil filter shield was bent and hitting the drive belts. The shield was hitting the drive belts so much that there was rubber burned onto the shield.

    2. The bushings were not lubricated at all so they lubricated the whole front end.

I didn't seem to hear anything on the way back, but I know from experience that once it's on a lift, I might not hear it for a few days and then it will come back.

I drive 60 miles per day, so I should have a better idea in a few days.

    OK guys -
I have an Outlander, not an Endeavor, but I have front end suspension noises as well. My noises seem to be mainly at low speeds. When I hit a bump, primarily the drivers side suspension makes a loud thud - not excessively loud, but obviously louder than it should be (although the passenger side makes a little noise too). Also at low speeds, when I make a turn, I can hear a little bit of a creeking noise (a low pitch noise). One thing to note, is that the car drives fine - no bouncing or overly rough ride or anything like that.
I scheduled an oil change for this past Saturday at the dealer, and while I was there, I asked the service manager if he would take a ride with me. We went down the street to a bumpy road, and I demonstrated the noises to him. He heard the noises, and suggested that we take it back for a tech to look at to make sure that nothing was obviously broken/bent/unhooked etc.... The tech verified that everything looked OK from a visual perspective, so they felt it was safe enough for me to drive it home Saturday. The service manager did tell me to drop it off tomorrow so he could have a tech really dig into it. He told me that they have a "stethoscope" type instrument that has ends that they can attach to suspension components. He said a tech can then drive the car, listening to the ear piece end of the device and get a pretty good idea of where the noise is coming from.
I will let you guys know what they tell me.
  • a_ryan1972a_ryan1972 Member Posts: 7
Well, I picked up my truck on Thursday and everything seemed ok. But,
Friday, the noise is back. Not quite as bad. It seems to be very low after
it's been on a lift and as time goes by, it will get worse and worse. I
have no idea what the next step will be for me.

    Good luck.
  • 1racefan1racefan Member Posts: 932
because with a strut setup, there aren't that many parts in the front suspension. Even if you get down under the car and look around, there just aren't that many parts. If I had to venture a guess, I would assume there is some kind of a lubrication issue and either the method, or the actual lubrication they are applying just isn't lasting that long - in tis case, only a few miles.
  • dmerchantdmerchant Member Posts: 5
Sorry about the bad luck. Here's something I just discovered about the problem. The warning light for low air pressure came on the other day. Checking all 4 tires, they were all a couple PSI low, except for the left front (where the noise is coming from). It was 4 PSI low. I went ahead and made them all equal (32 PSI). My wife, who drives the vehicle, said the noise has just about disappeared. She still hears it a little, but nothing like it was. At low speeds, this noise had become very loud.

This has really confused me. I don't doubt that this noise will come back, but why adding 4 PSI to the tire helped to quiet it down. I'm going to monitor this tire now. I may even let some air out to see if the noise comes back. Now I would think when I brought it in to the dealer the first 3 times, this would be something they would check, just in case it can cause the noise. Maybe the low air pressure is a coincidence. I don't have a clue. Check yours to see, just in case.
  • 1racefan1racefan Member Posts: 932
The placard on my Outlander calls for 28. I have set all 4 tires at pressures between 28 and 38, and mine still makes the noise. I HOPE that the air pressure fixes the situation in your case, but I think it is more coincedental.
