I just started having the same problem last Friday. I'm thinking about taking the door panel off to look at the controls. Like you said, all the fuses are good.
I have a 2007 Endeavor LS and it is barely a year old. A couple of days ago we noticed that the rear tailight was out, so we changed the bulb. I usually leave my headlights on, but after my husband changed the bulb he turned the lights off. When I got in to drive I noticed that whenever I used my left turn signal, the entire dashboard would blink. This also happened when I came to a complete stop. On the exterior the turn signal works fine when the headlights are off, but when I turn the headlights on and try to use the turn signal all the exterior rear lights flash. We also noticed that the rear yellow turn light continuously stays on. No problems with the right turn signal. Please help, we are overseas and do not have access to a dealership. Appreciate any and all help.
I have had this problem before and it was because of the wrong type of light bulb. If the bulb you replaced was intended for a two filiment bulb and you replaced it with one, this will happen as the turn signal will close the loop for your dash lights and everything will blink. I would just put a two filiment bulb in place and it should be fine.
I bought a new Endeavor AWD LS in 2005, it was a great tow vehicle. I purchased the bolt on factory hitch. There were many ways to wire in a new harness, but they all involved cutting wires and splicing which I am not big on. So I broke down and paid the $55.00 for the plug in kit made by the factory. All you do to install it is pop of the left rear side panel and plug in the adaptor, it comes with all necessary materials and directions. I know that I paid alot for it but it never caused any problems. I sold the vehicle and purchased another one, a 2006 Endeavor AWD Limited. Again, I ended up purchasing the darn adapter, but I purchased the hitch directly from Curtis Mfg. and installed myself, saving a nice piece of change. I know that we all hate to spend unnecessarily, but when it comes to electrical wiring, these new vehicles are very sensitive to electrical modifications, etc., it might be easier, saving time and problems down the road to just buy the factory wiring adaptor. I am towing a 20' Regal boat on an aluminum trailer, the GVW for the boat and trailer is around 3000 lbs. My Endeavor does a fine job, I don't however live in any hills or mountains, I am on flat land by the coast. Good Luck!
I noticed after driving my wife who was driving the SUV that one of the rear light is brighter than the other. We are not talking about just a little brighter but a lot. It is as bright as when she hit the break. Therefore if she hits the break, the other light will become as bright as the first one. Somehow for that one light, it is stuck at the brake light intensity.
Has anyone experience this? Is this due to an incompatible bulb?
Do You happen to have the part number to this electrical plug ? I have a 2004 mitsubishi and have encountered the same problem. I too hate the splicing wires.
I have a 2004 Endeavor XLS and for the life of me I cannotkeep the glove box door from squeeking. Open the glove box door and it quits, big deal. I have tried stick on pads in inconspicuous places, but no help. Anybody had this problem?
I don't have an Endeavor but I have had similar problems on other vehicles. The sticky pads was a good first move though. With the glove box open, there might be some screws visible on the latch/locking mechanism that resides in the glove box door. Try adjusting those. Also, try applying a little bit of lubricant to the plastic hinges. One last thing, is the glove box still noisy when you've completely removed all of its contents?
Thanks. I tried all of the mentioned in your letter. Finally I got the glovebox out altogether. There is no adjustment on the "Catch", therefore I just bent it slightly and so far, it seems to cure the problem. It just stuck out a bit too far. Again, thanks for your response.
You should check out the thread of "Grille Inserts" in Honda Odyssey site here. There are many D-I-Y options, cost from $4 to $200's ... I protected my Bumper opening by $4 Home Depot gutter screen + plastic cable ties. The Honda condensor replacement costs $750.00.
A guy posted photos re how to do it there, take off the front then assemble them back. I spent about 45 mins to complete the job
Hey sorry for the delay in my response. Cool. Glad that you fixed it. I never thought about removing the glovebox entirely for a better look at it. Thanks for the tip.
Hi, I'm not sure if this is a new thread, but you said you removed the glove box, so I'll ask you first. I'm trying to get the glove box out to replace the cabin filter. I removed the four screws in the diagram of the glove box, but the picture shows 'hook crochets' (three on rt, two on left) which are what must be holding the plastic in place, because I can't budge it. How did you remove the glove box?
I have a 2004 Endeavor and am trying to replace the cabin air filter. The schematic I got shows dropping the glove box door to remove the four screws, which I've been able to do. But that's where I'm stuck. The diagram also shows 'hook crochets' which must be what's holding the plastice in place (2 on left, 3 on rt), but I can't figure out how to release them. I don't want to damage anything. Anyone done this and can tell me how to proceed?
As you already did, you unhook the tension cord, take out the (4) screws, 2 on top, two on bottom. Now you have to get serious with it.. Put Your fingers under the liner at bottom right and pull (just the bottom right, don't try to pull the whole unit strait out. It wont break, it will eventually flex and the hook crochets will disengage. From there you can work the left side out from under where the vent comes out. ( I just came in from doing it again to see if I remembered it right) Good Luck) In this forum You can get this filter from Mitsubishi Parts for $23.00, every other place I looked, they want twice as much.
Hi, Thank you so much. Last night my husband and I were trying to do it, but got to that step and were at a loss for what to do. So, he put it back together and said he was just going to take it in and try to return the filter. (I think he said he paid $30. What do you mean "in this forum you can get...." We could order parts here? But there'd be shipping, right? So, $30 is probably okay. Or, I could get it here and return the other, if there's no shipping and save another $7.) Last night, I said I'd see what I could find on the internet. I found and signed up for this forum (my first), but wasn't very hopeful after hours of working at it. Then I got your answer!!! I tried what you said and got it apart. There hadn't been a filter in it, so I had to cut out the cut out....a bit scary, chopping into the car, but I wanted to surprise him. All I could hear in the back of my head as I was doing it (thinking that I might be doing something wrong) was, "I told you we should've taken it in!" But, it's in now and back together, thanks to you. And I'm feeling very courageous and accomplished (It takes so little, LOL). Let me know about the ordering parts "in the forum", so we can get the next one through here, when it's needed. Of course, if I have a question in the future, it will be much easier as I am now a member of this great group! And THANKS again! Carly
Happy for you. I just kind of felt my way along to get to the parts, or really I got an answer from someone that gave me the ( mitsuaccessories.com) address to get into the parts for mitsubishi. The Cabin Filter is Code # MZ 312931E. The price is $ 23.39 plus $3.95 freight, as it comes FEDEX. My parts came in 2 days.
About 3 months ago I started getting a slight vibration in the front end while accelerating. It would go away after about 5 miles or so....Recently it has been more violent and lasting for 20-30 miles or more...Im pretty efficient in repairs but I'm unsure what the cause is...The tranny fluid is full and clean, This started to occur after i bought a new set of tires but If it was the tires I would think it would be more consistent and would not stop after a few miles...If anyone knows what the problem is I would appreciate the advise, thanks
I just purchased an '05 LS and absolutely love it. I really wanted an XLS or limited model because I am not a fan of the unpainted plastic mirrors and bumper pieces. However, my first priority was leather and the LS had it along with my favorite color combination on top of a price I just could not turn down.
No mechanical problems at all with 49k miles on it. However... one thing irks me and I have not seen any other posts about this. The black paint between the windows/doors is horribly oxidated and flaking off and the plasic pieces on the bumpers and the mirrors look terrible as well. Does anyone else have this issue with the oxidating and flaking paint?? Would this be considered normal wear an tear or is there any chance to have this fixed under warranty? Does anyone know of a way to "care" for this area to prevent this from getting any worse? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
One other thing I have seen on this forum is the flaking paint on the silver painted air vents in the center console. Again, should the bumper-to-bumper warranty cover this?
RE: PAINT PROBLEMS I have a Black 2004 Mitsubishi Endeavor LS with 100K miles on it. I have had the clear coat fall of on the small sections between the windows, giving the paint a dull oxidized look. I bought the vehicle used with 55k on it and the clear coat was already pealed off. Since it was used, I figured I couldn't get Mitsubishi to do anything about it, so I just make sure to keep some wax on it (probably doesn't help). If you bought the car new, I would expect Mitsubishi to fix it. I also have huge problems with my paint chipping on the front of the hood. If you haven't already done it, I suggest getting something to protect the front of your hood.
RE: Mitsu Endeavor 2004 Vibration Not sure if this is it, but I started feeling vibrations in the front end of my 2004 Endeavor, it seemed much worse at low speeds. It turns out that some steel belts broke in one of my stock Goodyear Integrities and that tire had developed a bulge, causing the vibrations. The tires had 75K on them so it was about time to get new ones anyway.
In the 45K miles that I have put on my 2004 Endeavor (over 100K total now!) I haven't had any serious problems. The only money I have put into it are for standard maintenance, ie oil changes, brake changes, new tires, and a new battery. The car has some quirks but overall it is great. The only complaint I have is the paint chipping and the clear coat pealing I mentioned above.
Hello to All, I test drove a used 2004 Mitsubishi Endeavor yesterday and I loved it, however after reading everyone's comments I'm thinking this is not the best choice. I have read about gas mileage, the best tires, various problems, and the article that says Mitsubishi will go under. Nevertheless, I'm still interested. What should I do?
Update - I noticed a few drops of fluid on the ground under the rear differential area everytime I parked my Endeavor. The dealer checked it out again and determined that the rear pinion seal (?) was leaking so your advice about the fluid being low may have been exactly correct. Seems that you cannot replace just the seal so they are planning on replacing the entire differential unit. I am optimistic that this will correct the erratic shifting issue. Oh, only 29,000 miles on my 2004. Still the best vehicle ever AND the best warranty!
Cool! Hopefully, you'll have smooth shifting after the differential is replaced. Also, it's good to hear someone being optimistic about their Mitsu rig.
There is a factory recall out that covers this problem. The interlock mechanism on some Endeavors is "failing", allowing you to remove the keys from the ignition even though the vehicle is not in park.
I have an 05 Mit. Endeavor and my son put some coins into the rear A/C blower which is breaking the fan blades inside it. I would like to know if anyone knows how to access the fan motor on the rear center console to change out the fan motor.
someone please help!! i had my fuel injectors cleaned and spark plugs changed recently. after doing so i was told to put 89 octane in my car, mind you before i had this done i used only 87 because my manual says to (surprise). after having this service done on my car in ran perfectly...and then began to ping. i went back to 87 octane and still have found no resolve. it gets worse when the temperature rises (sacramento summers) and when i turn on my a/c. any suggestions?
Sounds like one of the spark plug wires is loose. I think that Mitsu indicates that your car (SUV) will run OK with regular but they actually recommend premium. Here's an interesting article about how premium gas can save you money...gasoline grades good luck.
Is anyone having light problems on their 05 Endeavor? I've been having to change out the headlights continuously ever since I bought the car in 06. The light is always burning out.
Anybody have any issues with a 'twitchy' throttle body or air mass sensor (hope I got that last one right)? I had throttle body issues with my old 2002 Escape and I seem to be having the same with my 04 Endeavor XLS AWD. Starts off with a little jump and when you take your foot off the gas it seems to float for a few seconds and then drop way down. Not at all smooth transitions like when she was new. Tried the can-in-the-gas-tank cleaner to no avail. Use nothing but 91 octane fuel. Ideas, opinions, etc. welcome. Thanks all, Nick.
05 Endeavor turns but won't go over, no electricity to fuel pump. Srayed ether in and started it so leads me to think it is an electrical problem linked to the fuel pump any ideas?
my '04 is leaking water on passenger side behind dash when a/c is on. someone said it is the a/c dryer is plugged. have to take off dash to get to it. anybody else having similar problems?
Problem 1 - I drive a 2004 Mitsubishi Endeavor and about a month ago I noticed that my buttons to work the radio (switching from AM/FM - presets, scan, seek, etc) were all beginning to not work properly. Now, I can only listen to one AM station or I can listen to a CD so long as I don't try to skip to a song because then it acts like its skipping. Basically all I have is - Volume, power, AM, and eject. I spoke with a dealer (not original one... that's a long story) and I was told I might need a new head unit for my radio. Can someone please tell me what that is, and what it costs? Has anyone else ran into these issues? The car is only 5 years old and already the radio is taking a dump!?
Probem 2 - I have been reading up on how lots of people are having the same issue I am having with the high pitch whining noise after hitting above 30 mph. I thought it was my brake pads so I had them replaced, still doing it. So... if it is this propeller shaft thing what does something like that cost to replace and what exactly is this part, can I buy it and replace it myself?
I have Exactly the same problem! It turns over, but doesn't start. It's begining to get really irritating. Although mine hasn't randomly started at all. It just doesn't. We suspected there was something with the fuel pump, but it seems to be working fine.
Hey, I noticed this is an old post, but you seemed to know what you were talking about. I have an 05 Endeavor with practically the same problem. It does turn over, but doesn't start. What is a nuetral saftey switch if that can help. I'm looking for anything at this point.
Had this recall done on my 04 about a week ago, not that I had a problem to begin with. Turned it off Saturday night and the keys have never come out again. Stopping at the dealer's today to see if they can fix this new issue. It would be nice to take my keys with me when I turn off the car! :confuse:
I have been advised by a local auto parts store that plugged my 2005 Endevour into their computer that my Mass Air Flow Sensor is the problem. My question is first simple, is that mass air flow sensor located right above the Air Fitler with the plug in it? If yes it seems like it should be rather easy to do myself, rather then pay a dealership $180 to do it.
This is a 2 part question.... The dealer is charging 351$s for a headlight does anyone know where I can get one cheaper???(passenger side headlight assembly) Also is there a website anyone knows about that shows you how to do it yourself???? Is this something someone can do themselves??? Any help is appreciated.... Thanks
Yep. Those headlight assembiles are very expensive. Try this website www.ricartparts.com They can sell you the part and there are also illustrations/diagrams on the site that may help with the installation/removal. You may have to buy a Haynes manual from Wal-Mart or an auto parts store for detailed instructions. The manuals are around $20. Good luck.
I had a similar problem. Took the SUV to many mechanics who could not venture to fix it because the complete dash had to be taken down. I finally ended up at the dealer where they charged $970.00 to fix the problem. By the way the part used was only $3.50....It is happening to a lot of Endeavors

I have a 2004 Mitsubishi Endeavor with over 100,000 miles on it. So far it has run perfectly with no major mechanical issues (knock on wood), just the normal expenses (brakes, oil changes, new tires...). The only only thing wrong with it is my rear windshield wiper doesn't work at all. When I turn it on, I can hear the motor running but the wiper doesn't move. Also, the wiper just hangs there, the only thing keeping it from hanging straight down is the window handle.
I would prefer to repair this myself, but I really don't know what to go after first. Can anyone help? :confuse:
I own a 2006 Endeavor. I have noticed a creaking noise in the front suspension at low speeds. Also under acceleration there is a chirping noise between 2nd and 3rd gears. If anyone has had these problems please post.
I have a 2004 Mitsubishi Endeavor (78000 miles) purchased it Texas but recently have been relocated to North Dakota, I left the car outside for 5 days, it was very cold between -10F -23F degrees. The car is not starting, when you turn the ignition on it makes the noise as starting but it does not start.
I have towed the car to the garage, put the gas antifreeze and let the snow melt from the hood after 3-4 days it still will not start.
I have taken it to a repair shop that can repair Mitsubishi cars (not Mitsubishi dealership) but they can not yet find the reason why the car will not start. Next Mitsubishi dealership is 300miles away.
We brought the car new n 2004. It is black, but the paint has started to fade and spot all over the top and hood. Has anyone else had the same thing happen? Thanks, Mike
I've been having my truck for 4 years now, bought it used and I've never had a problem with it till now. The rear door (window and trunk) open whenever they want to. Sometimes I'm driving and and the window just unlocks for no reason.
Then when I need to open it, I can't! This is crazy!! I am planning to take the truck to the dealer, but just scared of how much they might charge me something that my be a simple fix. Any suggestions? :confuse:
Does this motor typically sound loud when accelerating? I have about 1300 miles and is the only one I have driven. When I lift the hood I swear I can hear a vacuum leak but cannot find maybe this is a normal noise. I have been running premium. Thoughts? Do I just need to get over this sound and crank up the radio.
