Purchased 2011 Toyota xle 8 passenger (middle row seat is removable/can be stowed) with xle premium package (dual DVD, voice nav, bluetooth, backup cam w/sensor etc), roof rack for $35,878. Doc fee was $299 (and another $3/$18 state fees) @ Augusta GA Milton Ruben Toyota. Msrp was a little under 41k. We had a trade in which I was able to get 2k more then what I my bottom line accepting price so overall happy with the purchase.
We were in Atlanta over the weekend (Stonecrest Toyota) and recd the worst service ever. We were told lie after lie and ended up walking out.

We are looking at a new Sienna (loaded XLE or Limited). Do not know if we should wait till 2012. Dealers are playing like they do not know the minor changes which maybe on 2012. Also the discounts in Illinois are not dramatic enough to convince me to buy a 2011 vs. A 2012. Every time I go to buy a car at the end of the model year, am always told the discount on the new year will be non existent, then when it comes out, there is the discount. The 2011 has technically been around for almost a year and a half. Any suggestions where I can get a great deal? Anyone know the minor changes on 2012?
  • lxowner2lxowner2 Member Posts: 51
Dogsambam, I am going through the same experience! The lowest quote I have received on the 2011 Sienna Limited (approx $46,000 msrp) is about $42,500 minus the $1000 rebate. That's $41,500 for a minivan, albeit a loaded vehicle. I do not think people are paying these prices for a minivan. I want to be more in the $40,000 range, and it seems like people on this Board have paid that number earlier in the year. Most minivan purchasers buy the LE for the practicality but good price point. I think there are many Limiteds on lots, despite the name.

As for the 2012, I am hearing first issue is the release date. Some dealers are saying they will arrive in September, and others are saying with the issues in Japan, parts will be delayed, so the vehicles will not arrive until November or December. Now if that is the case, there will certainly be a spike in demand and prices will not be too discounted, unless you have a pre-arranged deal via Costco or some other buying program (ie, $500 over invoice). We know the 2012 prices on the Siennas are pretty much the same (per the Toyota release) but for the SE model which now has the RES. The Toyota release also said that there are no significant changes for the 2012 model year, but I am not sure if dealers truly don't know or are just playing coy on what they know.

You are right, the 2011 has already been out for 18 months, so the only reason to buy it is (1) if you like the model as is (without any "changes" for the 2012), and (2) if you get a good deal to justify the "old" age of the vehicle.

The comments I read seem to knock the cheapness of the dash. I checked it out, and don't feel that way. I think it is fine. The other comment was maybe improved MPG. That would be great, but not a deciding factor for me. So my issue more has to do with price, and I am inclined to keep searching until I find the price point I want. And if that takes too long, it would bring me closer to the 2012 release date, and then we start with a "newer" model, maybe some changes, but without the rebate/reduced money factor/financing offer, so left to our own resources for negotiation and price.

So the question is: is it worth $1,000 to negotiate harder now for that sweet deal that you can't refuse because you get a new car you like as-is with the age factored in the price, or wait and see what the 2012s will bring?

Ecolorado, could you clarify whether the 32715 included tax, title, license fees?
    thanks
  • minivan10minivan10 Member Posts: 5
Could you clarify how $32000 is your OTD price when your sub-total came up to $31563? Isn't tax, title, license registration, etc. all that add up to $2300??

I just got a quote from a dealership in central New Jersey for a 2011 Sienna LE with the following options:

    - Carpet Floor Mats with Door Sill protector
    - Lower door molding

    - Quote was $29500 + sales tax + $279 doc fee. (Destination charge included)
    - 1.9% financing for 60 months
    - Option to purchase extended Toyota Care Warranty for 8 years/75000 miles with $0 deductible - $1500 (I'm planning on keeping the vehicle a long time)

Seems reasonable but wonder if I could do better. Any thoughts?

Any feedback on how I am calculating dealer cost shown below? I've used numbers that local dealers showed me when I asked for their invoice. Has anyone paid this price for a 2011 XLE?

    Base MSRP: $30338
    (+)Destination charge: $895
    (-) Holdback: $660
    ________________
    Dealer Cost: $30573

    (-) Cash Rebate: $1000
    (+) Tax, Title, License, Registration (TT&L): $2360
    _______________________________________________
    Drive out: $31993

Appreciate any comments on this. I've visited two dealerships in my neighborhood. I start negotiations by asking them to show their invoice. They show me a dealer invoice price of $32600 (excluding TT&L). When I state my opening offer as $30573, our negotiation stalls. We don't make too much progress from there.

Any suggestions? Is my calculation of dealer cost wrong to begin with?

That is way too high price for LE, infact I bought my XLE for that price excluding the add-ons.

Also the extended warranty is outrageous . i bought 8yr/100k/Platinum/0 Ded for $1040 from a different dealer. I think you are getting quoted at MSRP price.

Look at this chart for ext warranty details http://www.toyotafinancial.com/consumer/tfs.portal?_nfpb=true&_pageLabel=pg_VSAP- - - ricing&carSelected=Sienna

your base price is off by 400, but the calculation looks good. 29.7 (including 1000 rebate) for Base XLE is a very good price. did you try zag quote?
  • acohen74acohen74 Member Posts: 2
Are you in NJ? This quote is pretty close to a USAA/ZAG quote for same vehicle.
  • vinceyvincey Member Posts: 6
Did you get $1000 military or recent graduate rebates to get down to this price? In Philly area, I can't even get the dealers to get down to $27,400

Zag price quote for Bridgewater zip comes to 28k with 1k rebate or 29k without, which is 500 less than yours. IMHO, you should finance through DCU.org for 1.99 APR and also get 1k toyota rebate.

did you try fitzmall,PA? they have listed LE for 28k + tax + 2.99 APR for 60 months. If you don't mind driving some 200 miles, try toyotaofdartmouth, MA. They have LE for 27k.

    Good luck!

I have not had any luck with PA/NJ dealers on Sienna. Does anyone have suggestions as to which dealers might be a good try in MD/DC area?
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
Start at fitzmall.com. They have a Toyota store in Gaithersburg. They're no-haggle, and we've bought cars from their Subaru franchise next door and had a good experience.

I hear Laurel Toyota also has good prices, but I ended up buying from DARCARS 355toyota, using an e-quote. Good luck.

We bought our xle 8 passenger FWD sienna yesterday and got the following:

    MSRP: $43,686
Total paid (before taxes and fees): $35,805

    Predawn Gray Metallic
    Light gray interior

    Xle premium package
Floor mats that stay in place
    Cross bars
    Tint
    ToyoGuard
    Chrome side door molding
    Pinstripe
Xzylon (apologize for spelling) inside and out
    Nitrogen tires

I believe we got a really good deal. What do you think?
  • xlprem2011xlprem2011 Member Posts: 3
I believe we paid around the same for our xle with prem package.
  • bravojunkiebravojunkie Member Posts: 5
That sounds like a great deal to me for just the Premium package alone. Way to go
  • lxowner2lxowner2 Member Posts: 51
I would call that a STEAL! Congrats!

I am still have trouble getting the 5386 for $40K. Best I got was $41K for the $46K stickered vehicle.

Any info to share on your negotiation?

We're waiting till after the latest incentives are over and looking for a "left-over" 2011. What might be a very good price on a $31,054 LE? We live in Western Mass and will drive a 100 miles for the best price.
  • xlprem2011xlprem2011 Member Posts: 3
I actually went to the dealership's website and they had an Internet special price request. I did that and got an email with $35,805. When we went into the dealership, we realized that there was more in the car than the internet price listed but they honored the quote. I think we got really lucky as true car said 38k was a good buying price with fewer options. I also went in with some other prices paid from online in case they started bucking me. I didn't have to use them though. I would suggest you print out my price paid and take it with you. I bought the car at Gettel Toyota in Bradenton, FL. We spent over an hour going back and forth on the price of our trade but we got other items added to the car to make up for that horrible trade price. Good luck! Hope this helps!

Three weeks ago I paid $27,883 for a model #5338 in Tampa (LE V6). That included a $700 Dealer Fee and a $700 Southeast Toyota side sticker for some junk stuff and got Floor Mats included. This deal was with the 1.9% financing for 60 months along with the $500 Cash Back. Hope that gives you a feel for price that you might be able to get in your area.
  • lxowner2lxowner2 Member Posts: 51
Thanks for sharing the information. I guess you found a very motivated dealer!

At this point, since I am so close to the 2012s, I think I am going to search local dealer inventory and make offers at about 6K below MSRP. With that sort of discount on the 2011s, I think it appropriately factors in the "age" of the vehicle so that way you still get a good deal.

At 8K less, you are a hero!

I was offered/negotiated $29600 (include $1k rebate) +TTL for a Silver 2011 XLE 8passenger V6 Sienna + floor mat and door sil today. Is this a good price?I use zag price and then use it to negotiate down the price.
  • vinceyvincey Member Posts: 6
Just to update every body with my deal today.
2011 Sienna LE V6 FWD with carpet and towing.
    MSRP: $31,121.
Sale price $27,600 (with 1K rebate) plus around $200 for doc/tag plus tax.

Contacted most Philly and South Jersey dealers, got best price from Team Toyota and Peruzzi Toyota. Picked Team Toyota because it's closer. I tried my best, but could not get close to the $26.5K mark some people on this board got.

Is there a big regional price difference some how?
  • lunarmistlunarmist Member Posts: 41
    Thank you for the info.

Looking for almost the same vehicle in Massachusetts/Connecticut, currently at $28,200. What might be the scenario once the "clearance" offer ends on Sept 6th? Will they discounted further considering they are left-overs?

Has anyone received a great deal in Mass/Conn for the LE with a sticker price of $31,259 ?

Anybody know best dealer in Houston, TX area for dealing in XLE with premium package, newbie in this area and need guide line to buy our next Sienna. Thank you in advance for your help. :-)

Just purchased a new 2011 Sienna XLE (with premium carpets, window tint, cross bar and wheel locks) for $31000+TT&L. Drive-out price was $33292. Just checking is this a good deal? I purchased from "Toyota of Richardson" dealership in Texas.
  • minivan10minivan10 Member Posts: 5
This is a very good price. I purchased the exact same model for $31000 (after rebate)+TTL. I purchased in Richardson, Texas. My drive out was $33292. So, your price looks very attractive. I tried negotiating with dealers in Dallas/Houston area, but noone could beat the $31000+TTL offer. So I went ahead with it. Just curious - where is this dealer located that offered you this $29.6K quote?

which XLE model was it. I am getting a 2011 Toyota Sienna XLE (model #5348) for $31,287 + TTL in NC.
  • ymh88ymh88 Member Posts: 4
It is a Silver XLE 8 passenger V6 FWD with carpet mat and door sil. I get to know today that I will get the 0%/36 months AND $1000 (which is included in my price of $29600. They just announce it today and will be valid until Sept 6th.
  • rome123rome123 Member Posts: 3
ok, I believe I am also getting the same

2011 Toyota Sienna XLE (model #5348)
Color: Silver sky with light gray leather interior and Sunroof
    Options: carpet mats

but they are offering 31287. How did you able to get 29600?
  • mktx1mktx1 Member Posts: 2
Who was your salesperson at Toyota of Richardson? We are looking to go this weekend.
  • ymh88ymh88 Member Posts: 4
OK seems like we are getting the same vehicle model.
I use zag.com to request quotes from multiple dealers.
I visited a dealer to test drive the car.
I told all dealers that I will take the $1000 cash incentive up front.
One dealer quote me $29800. Another dealer say they can beat my best quote by $200.
The dealer told me today that I can get the 0% financing on top of the $1000 cash incentive. Thus, that is how I get $29600 with 0%/36 months.

I'm checking a dealer's online price for the exact same vehicle, LE model # 5338 sticker $31,405, with this dealer's presence in Mass and Rhode Island. The R.I. price is $1,000 less, is it possible? Is it the economy of Mass vs. R.I? I have no problem driving 90 miles to save $1K.

Also, what gimmicks do I need to aware of with internet pricing? Is $27,354 a good price or should I wait after Labor Day for even better deals?

I like SE and got a offer for 33,100+TTL, is this a good price? The price is inclusive of - SE preferred package, moonroof, other accessories (Total MSRP $3124). The price is close to zag.

This does not include the $1,000 rebate, in my area i can get either the rebate or 0% from 36 months-not both.

I saw the new 2012 SE have a price increase of 2K, is this a good deal?

    Hello

We purchased a Limited with premium package (so RSE and Nav) MSRP was ~$46,300 we were given 5,000 off of MSRP and the 0% for 36. (Zag was giving ~42.3k - with the 1000 rebate so no 0%).

Also we had a trade in and for that they gave us somewhat equal to what we could have gotten for it at carmax. Carmax would give 10,000 - dealer gave us 9,400 (but that gave us $600 in tax savings)

So all in all seemed a good deal. Purchased from Toyota of Dallas. I appreciated the information I was able to gleen from this forum.

    Thanks.

I am about to pull the trigger on a 2011 Sienna LTD. I am trying to find out if there will be any changes to the 2012. I have heard some interior upgrades, adjustable pedals etc. DOES ANYONE KNOW? All dealers have the same answer. They claim not to know, yet they have info on every other 2012. I am willing to wait and pay a little more. Any Answers?
  • lxowner2lxowner2 Member Posts: 51
What kind of deal are you getting?

I have shopped around extensively, and the better deals are all about 3-4 hours away from me. So I have decided to wait for the 2012 since the price difference is negligible (probably $1K because no rebate on the 2012s).

The Texan who got $5K off the sticker compares to the best deals I have been offered. Nice job!

Check Mark Toyota in Plover, WI. We just lease their 2011 Toyota Sienna LE. The MSRP was $30,774. The price was down to 28K and with our trade-in plus their cash rebate and we qualified for their lease tier 1 money factor, 12K miles : Our total monthly payment is $316.00 for 36 months.

I'm not sure if they their specials is done or not. Check them out! http://www.marktoyota.com

    Found this on cars.com:

    New for 2012

Changes are minor for the second model year of the current design. A power front passenger seat and automatic headlamps are new standard features for the XLE trim, and the optional rear-seat entertainment system for the SE is now packaged with a moonroof.

I have had a really frustrating run-around with Zag.com and Truecar.com. I get the quote and call the local dealers and they either say that truecar.com is wrong, they sold the vehical or the quote from truecar doesn't reflect all the options.

I then ask them to list what they have in inventory and immediately put all the information into the zag/truecar quote generator and it comes in several thousand under what they are telling me on the phone. This seems totally unethical.

Anyway - just curious what deals others have gotten on a 2011 XLE with entertainment and nav. What is a fair/good price?
  • madatcarmadatcar Member Posts: 6
One dealer said they are still ordering and getting 2011 till Dec rather than 2012. Does any dealer have a 2012? Seems like the 2011's are in low stock and asking prices are going up.
Auto sales in August was miserable but the news hasnt reached the dealers yet i guess.
  • azileretsisazileretsis Member Posts: 5
I use Truecar to check price changes rather than using it as a negotiations tool. Truecar like many other sites is just a means that dealers use to get you to the lot. However, you can be firm and negotiate over email where you can stick to your negotiation items objectively. That's to a previous comment.

One SE dealer told me 2012 Sienna would be out mid September and if you do a Google search you can find one NJ dealer selling a 2012 Sienna. Also, many of the dealers that I have contacted over the last year have reved up their contacts with me so I think the 2012 might be around the corner.

Like someone had said previously, if you are going to buy a 2011 car, you should have the dealer consider the cost of having the car sit in the lot for the last year.

I also use CarMax to check inventory and their 2011 inventory hasn't changed much in over two months.
  • crowbarmancrowbarman Member Posts: 3
I was really considering buying a Honda Touring, but ran into the exact same thing (and now am leaning towards the Sienna).

SoCal pricing for these minivans seems to be a couple thousand more than the rest of the country. There seems to be lower inventory overall (one to two cars on the lot) at all dealers, and they are marking them up over the prices the rest of the country is paying. Not sure what can be done or when it will change.
