The lesson here is find a big dealer, one who gets lots of cars and one who wants to sell a lot of cars. The smaller dealers don't sell as much volume, but they want to max out their profits.
White colored cars are not the same as white colored clothing or carpeting.
;-)
The ad gave the number of each Toyota model available and claimed "42 Siennas AVAILABLE"
Has the supply situation suddenly changed?

BTW, yes, there are others that show dirt/dust rapidly as well. My metallic green VW Passat also routinely looks dirty (parked in a city lot during the week or a parking garage). Even one day after wash & wax.
Wife's volvo wagon (and now Sienna) are both gold and look clean all the time (washed maybe once a month, waxed about twice per year) except during winter (salt & sand season). My understanding is silver is also good at looking clean routinely.
No, not a scientific study as to the cleanliness of car colors, but I've driven a lot of miles / different colored cars and IN MY EXPERIENCE, white was the worst. My metallic green (current car) is also not so great (got a good deal on the "on the lot" vehicle).
Did know one person who had white furniture & carpeting (no kids, pastic covers on furniture - yes PLASTIC - iccckkkk!). That was a while ago (mid 70's?).

Charles Baker in VA Beach, VA - $33,660., and
Wellesley, in MA - $33,200.00.
Both were out-the-door prices.
After several weeks of negotiating and working out the details of the purchase, I contacted Charles Baker to accept their offer and they informed me they had made a typographical error and the real price is MSRP. I was very upset!
So, then I contacted Wellesely, to accept their offer, and the salesperson informed me that they could no longer offer $33,200., instead they wanted MSRP. I was even more upset!
What is happening?
Do I have any recourse against these dealerships? I feel that they offered a price and then realized they had other customers willing to pay more, so they withdrew their offer.
What should I do differently, if I find another dealership willing to give me something off MSRP?
Feeling frustrated and decieved in VA...
Try Bobby Murray Toyota in Rocky Mount, NC, they will work a good deal for you.
Sorry and good luck.
Also, is anything that I should know about the trade in? I plan to trade it my 00 Odyssey. I have the estimate used car value (the lowest) from Edmunds and Kelley Blue Book. Will they change the deal on the Sienna even I have everything in writing (emails)? Or lower the value on the Odyssey? I haven't done any trade in before. Thanks for any inputs.
I am negotiating a deal on a Sienna LE and want to get some assurance that I'm not getting raked over the coals.
LE with option package #1, floor mats and window tint.
Total cost of $25K before tax, tag and title.
I was having such a difficult time getting any money off MSRP at all that I just picked a price and told them it had to include all of their fees.
Anyway, that's the offer as it now stands....
What do you think? Please give me your feedback.
Thanks,
Jackie
Right now we are minivan shopping and no way can we afford a 2004. Anyone know if dealers (or anyone else) has leftover 2003's that they want to move? What would be a good negotiation on price for those? thanks!
I have offered to be in within an hour and pay cash. It doesn't help.
I have called 6 local dealers and told them I want an XLE. Most have said I have to pay MSRP. 2 have agreed to take 500$ off if I either buy one they have (Of course they only have "1 that a deposit was cancelled on." Yet each day they find another.) Or I agree to wait 4 to 8 weeks (to get the color I want) and give a $2000 non refundable deposit.
Lastly, do you recommend the rearview mirror that dims for $199 or not?
Thanks for any help you can give.
Jcarroll4....that is too much, in my opinion. Try Rice Toyota they can get you a better price. E-mail me contact person info.
I was chatting a salesman the other day and he grudgingly admitted that the supply should also continue to increase over the next month.
So, I still believe the dealers locally are not willing to budge, but that should change in the near future.
After calling and e-mailing a lot of dealers in the LA area, most were asking for full MSRP, a few Internet managers were offering $500 of MSRP. I finally got $600 off MSRP. Finding the vehicle I wanted was the hardest issue.
If you know the model and packages you want, and Sienna's are hard to find in your area, my advice is to call up as many dealers as you can, and ask them to check their allocation lists (Toyota calls it A-status) for anything they have coming in that has the trim/packages you want, ask what the production date on it is, and when they expect it in -- then put down the refundable deposit.
It took about 3 weeks for my car to come in. A bunch of Sienna’s came in at the same time at different dealers, so by playing one off the other I got it down to the $600 off MSPR.
What pkg did you order with your XLE limited and what is your car's MSRP? Thanks

According to Edmunds, the invoice is about $27.1k and the TMV is $30.6k. In the D.C. area, the dealers are now just beginning to come off of MSRP. But, there are not alot of XLE's around. You could wait a month or two for the supply to increase, but that is an uncertain bet.
Don't fall in the trap of an earlier poster, you get a good offer, you shop it around and then you go back and the offer is off the table. When good offers come by on high demand vehicles, you need to move quick.
p.s. does anybody know what it means when a vehicle you ordered is in F status?
From Browns Toyota in Baltimore.
http://gbtoyota.brownscar.com/index.asp
MSRP: $28,558
Brown's price: $58,558
MODEL NO.: 5336
STOCK #: 40513
VIN: 5TDZA23C34S074358
something caught my eye: i noted std (details page) are (2)115V power outlets. Can someone explain. Does this model come with a built-in invertor or something like that?
CLE Limited with limited pkg 3 (GW) -- sticker is 35,466 with floor mats.
My other advice is to print out all those Toyota option codes from Edmunds so that when you call the dealer and ask what's on the allocation list and they say, "a limited with GW -- but I don't know what that is" you'll know the answer.
It always amazes me how little the salepeople know about the cars they sell.
Thanks for your info. I did call Modesto Toyota, and their price is $1500 over the invoice as you said in your post. The person that I talked to was straightforward about the price, no this and that. Looks like the price I got from the dealer where I ordered my Sienna is the best price so far if they keep their promise. There is no signed contract, just a hand-shake and verbal agreement and of course, my $1000 deposit. Happy shopping everyone. jerrc8
The dealership and I have agreed on a price for my XLE AWD,#17 (5376 with GK), with a spoiler thrown in for "free". I'm pleased with the offer, $1500 off MSRP, out the door (not including TTL). I'm not ecstatic, but I'm tired of spending so much time on getting a car.
I requested an estimate on delivery, and haven't had much luck getting anything concrete. In response to my latest inquiry, the salesperson's latest email stated "This will take a little while. What I have to do is put it close to the top of my preference list. Once I get an XLE AWD , I can put it up for the color and package #17 to get it allocated. I can't tell you a time, but as soon as I can get it."
What do you think? Is this enough info to justify placing an order? What info regarding allocation and build date should I be insisting on? What should I get in writing?
Thanks in advance.

Scott,
I have agreed on a price with Steve S., and wanted to ask you a question about allocation and delivery. Thanks for the dealership suggestion. They seem very nice, so far.
Thanks in advance,
