Hi folks. After months of research and car shopping, I just ordered a 2004 Sienna LE, desert sand mica, FWD, 7-seater, LE package #7 (BW) and floormats & door sill protectors (CF) for $26000.00. The MSRP is $27861. It was $1861 off. My dealer told if I order it last week, the car should be here by Thanksgiving. They think the delivery time will be December. My dealer will contact me the build and delivery date. I think this is a good deal while others are still asking for MSRP or only $500 off.

My shopping experience was very pleasant. I test drove the car twice at two different dealers months ago. Then I sent email to the dealer. We both agreed the price and we signed papers today.

BTW, my dealer told the VIP RS3200 alarm system costs $599. But I found it is about $240 from Edmunds. Also, I didn't mention the trade in. Is it too late to add the alarm system (if the price is right) and for trade it even we signed the papers?

Metro Toyota in Chicago participates in Costco's program and has a simple deal - $2,000 over invoice, plus $330 advertising fee.
  • vaeagles1vaeagles1 Member Posts: 28
    Steve -

It was neither a bird dog or referral fee. I posted the name of dealer with a good deal, racewalker purchased the vehicle, I e-mailed her the POC. She now had a question about allocations, since I previously posted a ?? about allocations. The purchase was not even from the same dealer.

I was just trying to be helpful. Sorry, won't do it again.

I bought same vehicle with same color ,option pkg # 7, in 8 passenger version plus
carpet mats, auto-dimming outside mirrors, cargo-net, 2 wireless headphones etc.
    MSRP 28,371 LESS 1871 = 26,500 + 50 temp. registration & taxes which I will pay in NY.
You may read my last 2 posts. Even I shopped for months and still I would say that I got lucky by getting delivery in just about 9 to 11 days.

About alarm , you don't need because the remotes have 3-4 buttons for auto-sliding doors release and close, door lock and unlock etc.
It even came with engine immobileser from factory.
All it did not came with is the SIREN sound which I believe is even BANNED in some cities.
I think you can get it for less than 100 in market. Or offer dealer no more than 150 on alarm system which has an retail value 240 and Invoice of about 119$.
Also make sure it doesn't delay delivery as they install it in PORT factory from where it is shipped to dealer.
    Wish you good luck.
Believe me it is worth the wait.
  • lok888lok888 Member Posts: 1,788
Yeah! It is worth the wait. $26000 plus MA sales tax and registration. I first looked at the 8-seater but all are saying the min. 3 to 4 months of waiting. I don't necessary to get the VIP RS3200 alarm but it is for auto insurance discount. I am still considering it if they can sell me this for less. Don't know why they overcharged the factory installed item. This is not a dealer installed item. I have the same keyless entry system on my 03 Camry. It works great with trunk release. Once they have the allocation, I will order the Toyota all-weather mats and mudguard from the internet plus the cargo liner from MacNeil (www.mats.com). These are must have items in the winter in northeast. The delivery time will be December, hopefully by X'mas time.

I have seen several future Sienna owners refer to the practice of traveling long distances, if need be, to get a good deal on their purchase. I may also be working myself into this situation but I am worried about one thing. Should small, warranty covered problems crop up with the car, does this mean driving that long distance again to the selling dealer to get them fixed as I have always been lead to believe was required? Or will any Toyota dealer gladly step up and do the work since they will get reimbursed from Toyota? Would anyone care to comment on this?

the near furture?? I am in a lease that ends in june 05 I want a 05 sienna and will need it as soon as my lease ends . i am looking now because I had a thought of trading in another car for the sienna but later re thought that. Just wondering if anyone thought that there would still be a 3-4 month wait or shorter at that time. I know it is hard to tell but a good guess is helpful.I don't want to lease again and doing a lot of research on this van before i jump into anything again.

I purchased an '04 LE with Package BZ, auto-dimming mirror, mats & sil protectors, an after market woodgrain package, Classic soft leather seat (dual front heat), leather wrapped steering wheel and shifter in Salsa Red Pearl from a dealer in Dry Ridge, KY (about 30 miles south of Cincinnati) for $29,300 plus a really good deal on my trade-in (almost as good as I could have done selling it myself). My salesman was very considerate, respectful and didn't try to play games. I am very happy with the deal. Delivery is scheduled first week of November. FYI -- He did have an XLE with package #14 on the lot, but the wife didn't like the color (dark grey).

    Bobgmech,
There are two aspects to your question. First, let's say you ordered mats, but the dealer forgot about it and you didn't notice when you took delivery. In this case, the selling dealer will have to take care of this issue. However, other general warranty/recall related issues can be done at any other dealerships. Lots of people move from one place to another, so if they are all forced to go back to their selling dealer, well you get the idea.

Momstruck1, my gut feeling is that there may not be much wait in June 05 as inventories are already increasing in some parts of the country. But, since manufacturers also adjust their production based on demand, probably you should look around Jan/Feb 05 to be sure.

I just signed the papers for my 2004 Sienna XLE (with packages 17(GJ) and the mats) and expect to take delivery in January, 2004 (when my Odyssey lease expires). I shopped my business via eMail to the 8 dealers within a half-hour or so of my house--2 never responded, 1 sent an incoherent response, 2 responded with straight MSRP quotes, 1 responded with a quote of $500 under MSRP and 1 responded with a quote of about $1,000 under MSRP. The best response though came from Brunswick Automart, who split the difference between MSRP ($35,541) and invoice ($31,083). More than one of the other dealers told me that they were unwilling to match that price given how quickly there were selling Siennas. Consistent with the rules of this board, I will not post links, names or phone numbers to Brunswick Automart, but I highly recommend the e-Commerce Sales Manager at this dealership. He was responsive, cooperative and professional.

Negotiated a nice deal on a Desert Sand LE8 with the following options (wanted an XLE, but the 8 passenger configuration was more practical for our family of six and can't get an XLE8):

    Package 1
    DVD Entertainment System
    Enkei Alloy Wheels
    Toyoguard Protection Plus
    Carpeted Mats
    Cargo Net
    Security System
    F&R Mudguards
    Driver & Passenger Window Tint

    MSRP + Tax (6%) + Tag ($110) + Dealer Fees ($500; can't get away from these in the Southeast) = $32,043.56.

Paid Out the Door $29,200. Saved $2,843.56. Went to the dealer on 9/13 for a test drive. He said he could source the vehicle before the end of September. I did not believe this based on previous research and wait times, so I was skeptical. To my surprise, we picked up the car on 9/28 exactly the way I wanted it. No hassles; perfectly prepped.

Have about 1,000 miles on it so far. This vehicle is great folks. It's the best minivan on the market right now and worth every dime. Good luck to those still in the hunt.

The VIP security system will run anywhere from
$549-599 IF installed at the dealer. If your van does not have it on its list of options have the dealer do a PIO change and add it before the van gets to the dealership. That way it will only cost $249.00 or so MSRP. Cost of installation is higher at the dealership as it usually takes about 4 hours to install the darn thing.

Once a Sienna is showing up as in freight status, how long does it take to get to my dealer?

I am patiently waiting, I'm just wondering how long until I pick it up.

Depends where you live and where the cars come in... In southern California cars come into Long Beach -- and it took about 5 days for cars to get processed, checked, etc before I could pick it up a dealer.
  • mackabeemackabee Member Posts: 4,709
About 5 days. It should also show an ETA at the dealer. For example DETA:1025-1030 (October25-30) Usually vehicles show up on the last day of the ETA.

Thanks to Shed, I was able to get the same deal from the same dealer ( Sunnyvale Toyota ), ( but still need some negotiation to get them to honor the deal ) ... :(

I ordered on 9/14 with $1000 down, and car came in on 10/16 and I pick it up on 10/17. When I ordered the car, I was told it was scheduled to be manufactured on 10/6.

basically, it's 3% over invoice, about $1700 under MSRP

    7 seat LE + BI + carpet

    the price is $24983
    doc fee: $45
    sales tax: $2064 !!!
License: $548 !!! ( Arnold, please give my money back! )
    Total: $27645

I'm very happy with my Sienna!! Great car!

  • bobbya2bobbya2 Member Posts: 35
    Hello guys
I am in market again for another van. Infact, I am shopping for USED sienna for my brother but looking at resale values I think it makes sense to spend about 7 to $9000 more for a NEW CE than used LE.
Because of Toyota's transmission recall from 98 to early 2000 Siennas, I am looking for '01 USED SIENNA CE or LE.
So I called my salesperson at Motorworld and he doesn't have any 8 pass. CE but 3 vans coming in 2 weeks:
    1) LE 8 pass. Pkg. # 1 (AM) in Gold MSRP 26,147
    2) LE 8 pass Pkg # 7 (BW) in Burgundy Msrp 28,100
    3) XLE 7 pass Pkg 16 (GJ) MSRP 35,595 in Burgundy
THE PRICE IS $1800 off on MSRP.
I think XLE should be atleast 3000 off MSRP but I don't know if it is All whl Drive or it's demand since I was shopping before and even now ONLY for
    CE or LE.
Please look my last posts about my buying experience since I bought 1 van 3 weeks ago.
I wish he had CE in 8 pass coming soon.

THE SUPPLY HAS DEFINITELY IMPROVED IN 2 WEEKS.
Good luck to all of you trying to get one.

Can anyone share with me about the DVD installed by Toyota?
The brand, the monitor size, personal opinion, etc...
I'm closed to purchase an XLE with pkg #15 (DVD, 17 inch wheels,...) but haven't seen one with DVD yet!
  • dako_tiandako_tian Member Posts: 298
Maybe it's been there awhile and I just didn't notice, but on the Toyota/Sienna web page (http://www.toyota.com/sienna/) there is a note:

"Thanks for your interest in the 2004 Sienna. Currently, dealers are experiencing a temporary shortage of Siennas. This situation will be corrected as soon as possible. Your patience is appreciated. Please contact your local dealer for additional information."

Yeah, right!! As if they new anything useful.... ;-)
  • lok888lok888 Member Posts: 1,788
If you read my previous messages, you will find a good deal outside the city. I have absolute no luck within metro Boston area since March. Give me your email address and I will email the information.

Just learned from the dealer that the deliver date of my Sienna LE will be the first week of December. I also added the VIP RS3200 alarm for $300 even the MSRP is $250. They first asked for $599.

Cant wait to see what will happen in few months as Toyota has increased its production on Sienas ( got this info from a car dealer in OH). Will these guy be still arrogant? In any case I am taking my business out of the state. I had it with NJ car dealers.

Once I know the vin of my van, how can I track its delivery status?

I noticed, even my dealer sold the van to me, it is still on their inventory list.
  • lok888lok888 Member Posts: 1,788
I just ordered the van last Saturday. The dealer found out the delivery time will be the first week of December. When do you think I will have the VIN? They must have the build date now, right?
  • vaeagles1vaeagles1 Member Posts: 28
I do not believe they would have the VIN number now for a December delivery. They should have a build date if the know the delivery date.

For example, I purchased a Sienna that was allocated to my dealer. I have a copy of the vehicle inquiry report that shows the ship date, a serial # and has a blank for VIN #. So, I do not believe the dealer gets the VIN until the vehicle gets closer to delivery.

If you have any doubts, politely ask the dealer to fax you the vehicle inquiry report, it will have everything the dealer knows.
  • lok888lok888 Member Posts: 1,788
My dealer did tell me the car will be built next month. I assume late November for early December delivery. And no one has the VIN until the build date has confirm. That's make sense to me. I am so exciting to see this from ordering, knowing the VIN & build date, in freight and get delivery. And what allocation has to do this with this process? I thought they build it in the factory and delivery to the dealer. Is it like a middle man which allocate the car by a regional office)?

Doesn't he know that carmax is listing on the web for about $300 under MSRP. And if it is the same dealer that I think it is, they have always had good inventory, but will not budge from MSRP.
  • lok888lok888 Member Posts: 1,788
They are all over MSRP. For example, the MSRP for the LE 7-pass with LE package #7 is $27861.00, $484 over. Maybe they forgot to list the floormats & door sill protectors (CF) for $198 plus VIP RS3200 security system for $249.

"""For example, I purchased a Sienna that was allocated to my dealer. I have a copy of the vehicle inquiry report that shows the ship date, a serial # and has a blank for VIN #. So, I do not believe the dealer gets the VIN until the vehicle gets closer to delivery.""

What does it mean by "SHIP DATE". How long from that date could be delivered to the dealer.
  • mdell2mdell2 Member Posts: 14
What is the lowest rate one can get from Toyota? Someone posted 3.80%/60 month. Has anyone get better rate than that?
  • mackabeemackabee Member Posts: 4,709
The VIN# is added to the dealers inventory list once the vehicle is shipped from the factory to the dealer. Until then it has a temporary serial number that is used until the vehicle is built. The temporary serial number is not similar to the final VIN#. After shipping from the factory the vehicle is delivered to the port for final processing where DVD players, RS3200 alarms, floor mats, etc, are added to the vehicles. After all that is done, then they are shipped to the dealers for final delivery. Time from factory to dealer delivery is usually 5-10 days depending on what needs to be added at the port. Once the vehicle is built it still shows on allocation status on the dealers inventory list but a D-ETA or dealer estimated time of arrival is listed. EX: D-ETA 1024-1029 Once the vehicle leaves the factory the allocation or A status switches to F or freight status meaning the vehicle is on the way to the port. After the vehicle leaves the port it switches to G or ground status which means the vehicle is released to the truck driver and due for delivery at the dealership within 2 or 3 days.

My deal gave me the vin#, and told me the van is at the port. The van is listed on dealer inventory list on their website. The delivery date was two days ago, then it changed to tomorrow, and now it further postponed to early next week, what happened?

By the way, how can I track the status of delivery.
  • ksfongksfong Member Posts: 5
Mdells: The rate offered to me is 3.54% 60 months.

Mackabee: what does it by "ship date" in vehicle inquiry report from Toyota. Thanks for explaining A and F status.

See my post on 12 Sept 2004 #2046. I'm still waiting for my for my Sienna XLE Limited with the HO (nav) package. I was told by my dealer that it was to arrive at the "port" in Portland, Or on October 18th. Now I am told it won't even be built until 11/17. Meanwhile the trade in value of my current van is going down, down, down. (Trade in value in WA is deducted from the sale price when figuring the sales tax).

I am so frustrated. My dealer just says, "you want your money back?" and that's it. I bet they would like to sell it for many $K over MSR rather than the deal I negotiated with them in June.

I have found in the past when anything is this much of a struggle it really wasn't right in the first place, and I usually regretted purchasing what ever it was. I am just about to act on that instinct/experience.

I've been looking for A 2004 Sienna w/ AM package
#1 for several months now in the RI area. I'm
wondering if you would be willing to share information with me about the dealership you worked with for your purchase.
  • dougkedougke Member Posts: 3
Bought an XLE w/pkg #16 this week for $2300 off MSRP. I told the dealer the margin on the car from MSRP to invoice was around $4K and wanted them to split it with me. Every dealer in the Mineapolis market refused my offer. One dealer even told me any dealer who would accept an offer like that would be foolish. Best I could get was either MSRP or $500 off. I used the phone to shop around to cut the chase time and quickly identified dealers who would get my business. It was interesting to see how arrogant most of them are in these short supply situations.

So I called all the outstate dealers. They turned out to be much more courteous and less greedy as one was willing to accept my deal and deliver in early November.

By the way nearly every dealer had at least 1-2 XLE's on their lot (a few even had the XLE Ltd's) so supply is definitely catching up with demand.

Had a great experience buying my desert sand mica, LE8, package BV.MSRP 27575, bought for 26300. Email me at counsel@lianglaw.com for the contact person.

I bought from the fleet department, which is very courteous, do not talk to the salepersons on the lot, they have neither the authority nor the resources to make a deal with you.

Does any one know out of state dealer closest to NJ which may be willing to split the diff between MSRP and invoice? I am ready to place the order but am not willing to pay MSRP which NJ/NY/PA dealers are asking. I ma in central NJ.
