Is that for an AWD or FWD?

Does anybody have experience purchasing a Sienna or other Toyota at Autofair in Manchester, NH. They have amazing prices almost too good to be true. $3800 of list on a loaded XLE Limited FWD. I am thinking of getting a van there and I live in Florida. Or, anyone know of any dealers in FLorida that are dealing? Also, that post earlier about the $500 rebate on Siennas in only for Military Personnel and their dependants. I am able to get $1000 off list as my best price in Florida.

Does anyone know the time limit (prior to build date) a Dealer can change packages and color on an allocated van for their dealership ?

    Thanks...

I just bought a Sienna XLE Ltd w/option package 5 and the carpet mats. We had a difficult time obtaining quotes from dealers, other than them asking for the MSRP. I ended up spamming local dealerships and ended up paying $34,700, versus $37,166 msrp. Because of this board, I knew that I didn't necessarily have to pay full price. Thanks to the folks who posted their prices.

My search for an AWD XLE LTD with HO package since last Sep continues to be frustrating. Even offering close to MSRP, none of the dealers are bothering to call me back, including one that we, perhaps foolishly, placed a refundable $500 "search" fee for.

Is demand currently still so high and supply still short that dealers don't really care about customers and just going to highest bidders? I do see cars coming in, and am suspicious that dealers are just hoping to milk the market as long as they can by "playing up" demand?

We need a van soon, and this weekend will be looking at others if Toyota dealers don't work for me.

I bought a LE 7 seater FWD today in philly area.

Sticker price was 29016 including destination. This included their propackage($990)(not sure what it included but mainly crap)

If I see edmunds the MSRP should be close to 28000

    I ended up paying
    26200 + tax(6%) + 127 tags

Dealer was easy to deal with and I was out of the dealership in 1hr.

I saw atleast 7 siennas (3 LE's, 1CE, 3 XLE's) on their lot ... looks like not many people are out shopping this month.

Was trying to find an 8 passenger LE with CM package (#11) in the NJ area. One dealer told me that LE with CM package is not available in the Northeast area. I checked couple of other dealers and carsdirect.com and I got the same story. Is this is a recent move by Toyota?

I was also told that in December, there was more inventory and discount, but this month, the price is back to the usual MSRP. Does this sound true?

I am now shopping for 8 passenger LE with BW package. The carsdirect.com had a good price on the website, but when I got a call back from the agent, the price was near MSRP. :-(

Any recent purchasers in NJ? Can dyj553 share name of the dealer in the philly area?

Sorry about my absense. Only go on Edmunds occasionally and I missed a few of your responses.

The dealer suggested I not give out the price I got on on-line forums, so I did the next best thing, I gave out the price and withheld their name. Figured that would be of more use to people as a reference than just saying...HEY I got a great deal at XXXXX, but I can't mention the price. I wanted to provide a reference of what is possible. I'm thinking of contacting the dealer again though and asking if they don't mind me sharing their name since a few people have asked.

I am in Florida where Jim Moran makes a killing. They tack on fees in 5 state Southeast Region that is PURE PROFIT. Unless you want to travel above Virginia to get a car, everyone pays it. I ordered an XLE Limited with option package 5, Running Boards, Carpet Mats, Cargo Net, Arctic Frost Pearl ($220 price) and Threshold Protector for rear bumper. This vehicle listed at $38,077. I bought it for $36,175...I think I did OK...$1800 off in Florida is hard to do from what I've seen. Anyway, can't wait to get van. Also, does anyone know the difference in getting package 5 with Center Console Box, DVD from factory, two 115V outlets and Rear Colored Spoiler as compared to getting package 2 with Console Box and then adding the DVD separately and the Spoiler separately...what are those 115 Outlets all about...plugging in heavy duty stuff?

"chnahnccn", could you give us more information about how to get a deal thur a broker.
  • sch1oizsch1oiz Member Posts: 11
I sent you an e-mail, but for the list I will say that I worked with 355Toyota and their internet sales person [team?] to settle on a price and model options. Their website is 355Toyota.com, which is part of DARCars. I worked with the Rockville dealership.

I should say that I did no real negotiating with them. They had posted their internet prices and that's what I asked for and received. That price is different now than it was then...$1300 higher now on the LE7, even higher on some of the other models. And...either their inventory is extremely low or they are only offering internet pricing on certain vehicles, because the list today is only 25% of what it was when I was shopping the week between x-mas and new years.

I should say that while I was treated o.k. in the end, this dealership is not of the relaxed no haggle style. You are met at your car door and your steps are shadowed until you are back in your car. Despite the fact that I had made my deal over the internet, three salesman 'discussed' how I was their customer--since I had been in to look at inventory the night before when someone had shadowed me despite my "just looking" comments, someone had met me at the car when we arrived to make the deal, and it was someone else's turn to take over an internet sale--their interenet sales model has a salesman take over the deal with help from the internet contact.

Very funny to me, but you should be prepared. I went in with a price, an exact model, my financing in place and nothing to trade. I can only imagine stumbling in and trying to make decisions under pressure. Thanks to Edmunds for all the information they make available.

salesperson at this dealership are so adament and rude. they dont care if you buy the vehicle at their store or no. I have had this experience twice, once about a yr ago when I was shopping for a used car, the guys even did not call me back to check for my offer, plus no courtsey of asking me to come inside the showroom.
Second time around, that is last week when I went to check out the Sienna, the guys even did not show any interest, asked for my license, photocopied it and gave me the keys of the car and asked me to take a test drive on my own. and again same thing, no call backs.
Anyway, not sure if this is the roght forum to post such a message, but I just want people to be aware of this dealership. its on Ogden avenue, in naperville, IL.
  • rbrrbr Member Posts: 113
esteem -- To me, not having a salesguy distracting me talking during a test drive, and not having them try to tug me into the dealership would be a dram come true, at least for me (smile). Some dealers/salespeople use a softer sell approach. Also, with the Sienna, given its popularity the more they make you work to buy the car the more they are likely to get from you on the sale.

kennyh28 ... we have had the same car on order for only two weeks in the midwest (minneapolis), but we are acquaintenances with one of the managers at the dealership who actually showed me the official inventory website for the entire Chicago seven-state region. Out of many thousands of cars, only seven AWD Ltds, all of which were either commited or in the process of being sold. I think dealers get new allocations of cars every other week, so I'd be bugging them for specifics as to the status of your order at least that often.

Trying to get a good price on an XLE has been very difficult in northern Virgina; that is until I found United Buying Service (UBS) to aid us in our conquest. I could only squeeze a $1300 discount at the most for XLEs priced >$34K at many dealerships. I read a Quest post that buyers in the Washington DC metro area could get Quests for just a few hundred dollars over dealer invoice, so I pursued this opportunity for the Sienna.

UBS is a service affiliated with many credit unions (CUs) in the Wash DC area. I searched the web and found out that one of the CUs I was a member at had a tie to UBS. So I completed a form on the UBS website and a day later had leads to 2 Toyota dealerships that used the pre-negotiated UBS pricing. The second email told me to forget about the 1st dealership (in NoVA) because although they dealt UBS deals, they did not honor the pricing for the Sienna -- some dealers are just too greedy. So I had to trek just a few more miles along the Wash Beltway to Bethesda, MD, to get my vehicle.

The salesman I dealt with over the phone was great to work with and even went to bat for me to try and get the extended warranty at a lower cost. He gave me the price for the vehicle over the phone and 2 days later my wife & I went to pick up "her" new XLE.

We ended up getting XLE option package 14, X1 preferred equipment pckg, and the wireless rear headphones. MSRP was $34,080 but we purchased the vehicle for $31,244; $1500 cheaper than the best price I could find in the area. I wasn't pleased with how the dealership tried pushing additional aftermarket packages on me (LoJack, rustproofing, glass treatment, etc.) or how they wouldn't initially come down on the extended warranty too much -- but we got the car we wanted at an awesome price.

Ended up getting the 7yr/100K mi $0 deductible platinum extended warranty for $850 from another dealership in Chantilly near my office. If you can't get your price on the warranty when purchasing the car, I recommend you to shop for it afterwards.

We highly recommend UBS for those buyers in the Wash DC area. It was a great experience and saved as some dough. Good luck!

Just bought a 7 passenger FWD LE BW(#7)package in NJ. Supply is better then it has been as I have been shopping for 6 mos. Condit Toyota in Newton had 5-6 on lot (all LEs with either the BW or AM package) They had 2 8 passengers LEs on lot. No AWDs or XLEs(one was picked up that day by a customer). Towne Toyota also had 6-8 on lot last week, but most had rear spoilers and/or running boards. Dealers in NJ are starting to budge off of full sticker. Got mine for $1,500 under from Condit. Admin fee of $199 was added.

BOught ours LE/8 with BW on 12/31 from Conicelli in Conshohocken, PA. Looked at all dealers in the PHilly area and was able to get prices online and quick delivery. Paid about 1500 off sticker, best price in this area.
    Good luck.

If you are willing to travel, try MotorWorld in Wilkes-Barre, PA. They did $2000 off MSRP on an LE7, BW with Z1 at the beginning of December. Most of the Dealers in North/Central NJ are still only doing $1000 off.

Everything was straight forward and we could of been out in 20 minutes. We did not have a trade and had our own financing. Good luck we love this van.

Just bought a 2004 Toyota Sienna LE with package 7 plus first aid kit and floor mats. Paid $26000 plus tax & tags at Condit Toyota in Newton. Needless to say, I LOVE IT. It's my first minivan and it's wonderful.

I purchased an XLE, PKG 3, Arctic Frost, floormats, cargo net, and port-installed DVD in Bryan, TX, yesterday for a drive out price of $32,700. That works out to $1,300 over Edmunds invoice. At the time I made the deal, the best TX deal I had seen on this board was $1K over invoice. I have since seen one for $600 over.

For the most part, the dealers where I live (Austin) were sticking to their story that no one buys under MSRP. I don't have a fax machine, so I sent out 25 letters to dealers within three hours of Austin, describing the car I wanted and asking for their best drive out price. I got 12 responses over the next two weeks. Bossier-Atkinson Toyota in Bryan quoted a price that worked out to $1,500 over for exactly the car I specified in the letter. I responded that I would buy it if they would drop the price by another $200. In addition to Bossier-Atkinson Toyota, I also received competitive bids from Toyota of Katy, Blackwood Toyota in Victoria, and Toyota of Fort Bend. I would recommend trying all of these dealerships for low-BS negotiations. The rest of the dealers that responded either used my letter to try to sell me a car they had on the lot or responsed with a much higher price. The delivery at Bossier-Atkinson Toyota went very smoothly, with no surprises.

My only disappointment has been the "port-installed" DVD player. I had been told by a salesman at an Austin dealer that the DVD player installed by Gulf States Toyota (the exclusive Toyota distributor in TX, OK, LA, MS, and AR) is identical to the Toyota factory-installed DVD player. And I was told by a buyer on another Edmunds discussion board that the factory DVD does not block the rear view mirror. Based on this, I reasoned that the port-installed DVD player would not interfere with the rear view mirror. In fact, it blocks about half the view. In the photo in the Sienna brochure, the factory-installed DVD player appears noticably different from the one installed in my car. If rear visibility is a concern, do not buy the port-installed DVD player.

Many thanks to the folks who contributed to this board.

    66ling,

Please take a look of message#2881, #2885, and #2886. I post a similiar question as you did and got a good price using the IOWA dealer suggested. I think you should get about $23,400 from them i/o $23,900. I have ordered my car from them and the production date is early Feb. and good luck to you!

Minivandad: This was a FWD model, not AWD. It is equipped with HO, RB, RF, CF, 9G.

Kitcatleung: My wife met the wife of the President of the broker we used, a firm in Southern California. I'm chagrin to admit there was no negotiation...we could not find this van at any of our local dealers, so the broker's initial offer (the price listed in my ofiginal posting) looked great to me. I emailed him what I wanted including color, model and options and he emailed me back a price. The rest of the buying experience is very similar to a dealer, we just ent to thier office and signed all the paperwork. Now we just have to wait for the car!

In on-going negotiations with a local dealership I’ve been dealing with on and off, I’ve noticed a very disturbing tendency. The dealership is only trying to maximize it’s profit on a particular vehicle, even if it means he must keep it on the lot a few more weeks. I’ve noticed that in my dealings where we’re only $500 - $800 dollars apart they think they must stick to their price and that’s it. For what I’ve seen these vehicles (LTD FWD PKG #5 or just Base) aren’t flying off the lots. Yes they are nice, but nobody is piling up at their door trying to buy one. As I said before “Let it rot on their lot…”

    Deals in the Seattle Area??

My wife and I are in the process of shopping for a 2004 Sienna, LE-7, FWD, least options available.

Is there anyone in the Seattle area, or for that matter in Western Washington that can give me any insight into their purchase, like where it was purchased, price and experience overall. I want to negotiate price. Any help would be great.

Edmunds Invoice price: 21574 for CE 7, pack #2

after hunting around (Twin Cities, MN) I found a dealership at 22.4 K.

    3.8 % seems OK

BUT..do I substract the holdback $459 from the dealer invoice cost...if so that is a 6% profit for the dealer...

    Good deal ?

In these forums do people factor in the holdback ? Edmunds does not seem to
  • steverstever Guest Posts: 52,454
Focus on your out the door price, not the line items (including the invisible line stuff). Dealers get, er, perturbed when buyers start talking about holdback.

: )Thank you, Edmunds, and all who post on this site. You certainly educated and prepared me for my purchase at Prestige Toyota in Ramsey NJ.
    .
After talking with the internet salesman I bought an LE 8 FWD w/ BW LE Pkg 7 plus RF spoiler, RB running bds, N1 auto dim mirror, Z1 Preferred Accessory Pkg (floor mats, cargo net, first aid kit) for $1000 over the $26,242 invoice, or $27,242. Or $2,160 under the $29,402 MSRP. Put $14K down and financed the rest 72mo.
    .
Finance Mgr sold me on 7yr/100Kmi $0 deductible plus dual headrest DVD to be installed later for an additional $25/mo. They obviously had some room to play with the rate since they said that they were able to do this by reducing the rate to 6.99% w/cosigner. I wasn't in much of a position to negotiate on rate with such bad credit (declined by Capital One online) and was happy that the monthly payments are very affordable. In hindsight, I could have gotten some financing quotes to compare to.
    .
Other than that, I couldn't be happier with the buying experience and the Sienna. Happy hunting!

    bartpg,

Would you tell me the person or persons at Toyota you who offered to work with your dealer to get your Sienna?

I too am looking for a Sienna with option package that's not available in my region, LE 8 + CH (LE package 10) and need to know if dealers here who are willing to preference order will for certain get it eventually.

    Thanks.

The price of Toyota's 7yr/100K, 0 deductible extended warranty has been discussed on this board. See my posts #3007, 3001, and 2949. There have been no meaningful discussions about warranty coverage or anyone's experience with warranties.

Toyota's suggested retail prices for extended warranties are listed on the Financial Services page at www.toyota.com. The 7yr/100K, 0 ded warranty lists for $1425. The best deals posted here in recent weeks have been $850. I paid $950.

Assume comparable (percentage) discounts are possible for any of the other extended warranties that Toyota offers. You can purchase your warranty from any dealer, but many will not discount much, if any. That shouldn't deter you; shop around, negotiate hard, and expect a substantial discount. See post #2909 for my experience.

I bought my warranty in a package deal with manufacturer's pre-paid maintenance. If you want to do the same, assume the dealer's cost for any pre-paid maintenance plan is 50% of Toyota's suggested retail price (also listed on the Financial Services page at the Toyota Web site).

Today I received three items in the mail regarding my Sienna purchase on 1/19: a thank you letter from the salesman, a letter from the dealer's service and parts departments, and a "new vehicle owner survey" from JD Powers, asking about any problems with the vehicle. I also had a message on my answering machine from the salesman asking me to call if there were any problems.

I'm in Northern Virginia and can buy any Sienna from a dealer in Baltimore for $750 over invoice. I'm considering getting a loaded XLE, by the way, with options package 19 or 16 with MSRP in the $34-35K.

So this translates to about 2% over invoice. Is that a good price for Sienna XLE? I'm only now starting the research, and didn't find any posts about Northern VA prices.

I am looking around to buy Sienna LE. Any good deals/experiences that you can share? What would be a good price for LE?

I live in Peoria, Il, but I am willing to travel all the way to Chicago area, Milwaukee, WI or St. Louis for a great deal, if I can find one.

Also, what options do you folks recommend. I prefer to spend on safety vs. luxury.

Thanks in advance for all your advice...

The $750 over invoice is from Schaefer Strominger Toyota (I'm sure I misspelled the name) and it's a Preferred Partner discount through my credit union.

Just an update to my post on Dec. 31 (#2937), when I proudly announced I placed an order for the above at an agreed price of $600 over invoice (which I thought was the best price going at the time). Salesman had told me the car would be in Houston port (Gulf States Distributor for Texas) in about a week, and then they would call me and we'd settle on distributor-installed options (e.g., floor mats, running boards, etc). Three weeks later I still hadn't heard back. When I finally called them, they tell me there is some availability issues with that model, and it should be here between 60 and 100 days. I cancelled my order. And asked them to tear up my $1000 downpayment check they had requested. Looks like I'm back in the market.

Anybody had a dealer treat them like this before? Is it some dealers' practice to make promises they have no intention of keeping, if only for the purpose of taking people out of the market for their competitors?

I've been in the mini-van market now since 9/2003, and i'm not going to go through something like that if i can help it!

    Be a hold-out for the 05's.

Honda is what i'm leaning towards now!
  • lalalalalalalalalala Member Posts: 30
why didn't you ask the salesperson to mail you back the check that you wrote, it seems like a hassle now but for safety reasons, you'll not regret having taken that extra step. I used to be a bank auditor, & I've seen frauds/stolen identities...involving stolen checks 1st hand.
  • help4bostonhelp4boston Member Posts: 3
I ordered a van from them which has yet to be delivered. So far so good. Note that virtually all of the inventory they list on their website is likely presold; you'll probably have to order one. Without question, they had the best prices in this neck of the woods.

I am ready to buy a Sienna LE in California and my local dealer quoted me 3% over invoice which is great, but the invoice he quoted me was almost $1,000 more than what Edmunds shows. He actually called it his "on-the-lot price" and is calculating at 3% of this figure. Has anyone else experienced this or know what charges make up the difference?
  • mackabeemackabee Member Posts: 4,709
Let's put the shoe on the other foot. If you are a business man and are selling these vans almost as soon as they get off the transport trucks why would you sell them at your cost? Turn rate in my area for Siennas varies from 77.7% for Le 7 passenger vans, 84.3% for Ce 7 passenger, and then the number goes way up to 100% for XLE LTD. Compare these numbers to 42.5% turn rate for Camry (all series) which sell close to, at, or below invoice depending on incentives. Or Solara which has a turn rate of 21.9% and I have a lifetime supply right now for whatever reason. Turn rate is how quickly you "turn" these vehicles or sell them. The higher the number the quicker these vehicles are being sold.
