Is demand currently still so high and supply still short that dealers don't really care about customers and just going to highest bidders? I do see cars coming in, and am suspicious that dealers are just hoping to milk the market as long as they can by "playing up" demand?
We need a van soon, and this weekend will be looking at others if Toyota dealers don't work for me.
Sticker price was 29016 including destination. This included their propackage($990)(not sure what it included but mainly crap)
If I see edmunds the MSRP should be close to 28000
I ended up paying
26200 + tax(6%) + 127 tags
Dealer was easy to deal with and I was out of the dealership in 1hr.
I saw atleast 7 siennas (3 LE's, 1CE, 3 XLE's) on their lot ... looks like not many people are out shopping this month.
I was also told that in December, there was more inventory and discount, but this month, the price is back to the usual MSRP. Does this sound true?
I am now shopping for 8 passenger LE with BW package. The carsdirect.com had a good price on the website, but when I got a call back from the agent, the price was near MSRP. :-(
Any recent purchasers in NJ? Can dyj553 share name of the dealer in the philly area?
The dealer suggested I not give out the price I got on on-line forums, so I did the next best thing, I gave out the price and withheld their name. Figured that would be of more use to people as a reference than just saying...HEY I got a great deal at XXXXX, but I can't mention the price. I wanted to provide a reference of what is possible. I'm thinking of contacting the dealer again though and asking if they don't mind me sharing their name since a few people have asked.
tri-county toyota in pottstown/limerick. 26200
central city toyota was 26600

Team Toyota was 27470
sloan toyota devon: 27470

I should say that I did no real negotiating with them. They had posted their internet prices and that's what I asked for and received. That price is different now than it was then...$1300 higher now on the LE7, even higher on some of the other models. And...either their inventory is extremely low or they are only offering internet pricing on certain vehicles, because the list today is only 25% of what it was when I was shopping the week between x-mas and new years.
I should say that while I was treated o.k. in the end, this dealership is not of the relaxed no haggle style. You are met at your car door and your steps are shadowed until you are back in your car. Despite the fact that I had made my deal over the internet, three salesman 'discussed' how I was their customer--since I had been in to look at inventory the night before when someone had shadowed me despite my "just looking" comments, someone had met me at the car when we arrived to make the deal, and it was someone else's turn to take over an internet sale--their interenet sales model has a salesman take over the deal with help from the internet contact.
Very funny to me, but you should be prepared. I went in with a price, an exact model, my financing in place and nothing to trade. I can only imagine stumbling in and trying to make decisions under pressure. Thanks to Edmunds for all the information they make available.
Second time around, that is last week when I went to check out the Sienna, the guys even did not show any interest, asked for my license, photocopied it and gave me the keys of the car and asked me to take a test drive on my own. and again same thing, no call backs.
Anyway, not sure if this is the roght forum to post such a message, but I just want people to be aware of this dealership. its on Ogden avenue, in naperville, IL.
kennyh28 ... we have had the same car on order for only two weeks in the midwest (minneapolis), but we are acquaintenances with one of the managers at the dealership who actually showed me the official inventory website for the entire Chicago seven-state region. Out of many thousands of cars, only seven AWD Ltds, all of which were either commited or in the process of being sold. I think dealers get new allocations of cars every other week, so I'd be bugging them for specifics as to the status of your order at least that often.
UBS is a service affiliated with many credit unions (CUs) in the Wash DC area. I searched the web and found out that one of the CUs I was a member at had a tie to UBS. So I completed a form on the UBS website and a day later had leads to 2 Toyota dealerships that used the pre-negotiated UBS pricing. The second email told me to forget about the 1st dealership (in NoVA) because although they dealt UBS deals, they did not honor the pricing for the Sienna -- some dealers are just too greedy. So I had to trek just a few more miles along the Wash Beltway to Bethesda, MD, to get my vehicle.
The salesman I dealt with over the phone was great to work with and even went to bat for me to try and get the extended warranty at a lower cost. He gave me the price for the vehicle over the phone and 2 days later my wife & I went to pick up "her" new XLE.
We ended up getting XLE option package 14, X1 preferred equipment pckg, and the wireless rear headphones. MSRP was $34,080 but we purchased the vehicle for $31,244; $1500 cheaper than the best price I could find in the area. I wasn't pleased with how the dealership tried pushing additional aftermarket packages on me (LoJack, rustproofing, glass treatment, etc.) or how they wouldn't initially come down on the extended warranty too much -- but we got the car we wanted at an awesome price.
Ended up getting the 7yr/100K mi $0 deductible platinum extended warranty for $850 from another dealership in Chantilly near my office. If you can't get your price on the warranty when purchasing the car, I recommend you to shop for it afterwards.
We highly recommend UBS for those buyers in the Wash DC area. It was a great experience and saved as some dough. Good luck!
Thanks
Good luck.
Everything was straight forward and we could of been out in 20 minutes. We did not have a trade and had our own financing. Good luck we love this van.

For the most part, the dealers where I live (Austin) were sticking to their story that no one buys under MSRP. I don't have a fax machine, so I sent out 25 letters to dealers within three hours of Austin, describing the car I wanted and asking for their best drive out price. I got 12 responses over the next two weeks. Bossier-Atkinson Toyota in Bryan quoted a price that worked out to $1,500 over for exactly the car I specified in the letter. I responded that I would buy it if they would drop the price by another $200. In addition to Bossier-Atkinson Toyota, I also received competitive bids from Toyota of Katy, Blackwood Toyota in Victoria, and Toyota of Fort Bend. I would recommend trying all of these dealerships for low-BS negotiations. The rest of the dealers that responded either used my letter to try to sell me a car they had on the lot or responsed with a much higher price. The delivery at Bossier-Atkinson Toyota went very smoothly, with no surprises.
My only disappointment has been the "port-installed" DVD player. I had been told by a salesman at an Austin dealer that the DVD player installed by Gulf States Toyota (the exclusive Toyota distributor in TX, OK, LA, MS, and AR) is identical to the Toyota factory-installed DVD player. And I was told by a buyer on another Edmunds discussion board that the factory DVD does not block the rear view mirror. Based on this, I reasoned that the port-installed DVD player would not interfere with the rear view mirror. In fact, it blocks about half the view. In the photo in the Sienna brochure, the factory-installed DVD player appears noticably different from the one installed in my car. If rear visibility is a concern, do not buy the port-installed DVD player.
Many thanks to the folks who contributed to this board.
Please take a look of message#2881, #2885, and #2886. I post a similiar question as you did and got a good price using the IOWA dealer suggested. I think you should get about $23,400 from them i/o $23,900. I have ordered my car from them and the production date is early Feb. and good luck to you!
Kitcatleung: My wife met the wife of the President of the broker we used, a firm in Southern California. I'm chagrin to admit there was no negotiation...we could not find this van at any of our local dealers, so the broker's initial offer (the price listed in my ofiginal posting) looked great to me. I emailed him what I wanted including color, model and options and he emailed me back a price. The rest of the buying experience is very similar to a dealer, we just ent to thier office and signed all the paperwork. Now we just have to wait for the car!
APR from toyota was 4.39 on a 60 months note
My wife and I are in the process of shopping for a 2004 Sienna, LE-7, FWD, least options available.
Is there anyone in the Seattle area, or for that matter in Western Washington that can give me any insight into their purchase, like where it was purchased, price and experience overall. I want to negotiate price. Any help would be great.
after hunting around (Twin Cities, MN) I found a dealership at 22.4 K.
3.8 % seems OK
BUT..do I substract the holdback $459 from the dealer invoice cost...if so that is a 6% profit for the dealer...
Good deal ?
In these forums do people factor in the holdback ? Edmunds does not seem to
Dealer Holdback

After talking with the internet salesman I bought an LE 8 FWD w/ BW LE Pkg 7 plus RF spoiler, RB running bds, N1 auto dim mirror, Z1 Preferred Accessory Pkg (floor mats, cargo net, first aid kit) for $1000 over the $26,242 invoice, or $27,242. Or $2,160 under the $29,402 MSRP. Put $14K down and financed the rest 72mo.
.
Finance Mgr sold me on 7yr/100Kmi $0 deductible plus dual headrest DVD to be installed later for an additional $25/mo. They obviously had some room to play with the rate since they said that they were able to do this by reducing the rate to 6.99% w/cosigner. I wasn't in much of a position to negotiate on rate with such bad credit (declined by Capital One online) and was happy that the monthly payments are very affordable. In hindsight, I could have gotten some financing quotes to compare to.
.
Other than that, I couldn't be happier with the buying experience and the Sienna. Happy hunting!
Would you tell me the person or persons at Toyota you who offered to work with your dealer to get your Sienna?
I too am looking for a Sienna with option package that's not available in my region, LE 8 + CH (LE package 10) and need to know if dealers here who are willing to preference order will for certain get it eventually.
Thanks.
thanks
"can some one point me to the discussion board where extended warranty is being discussed for Sienna? Whats the best deal going around? and where can I get it from?"
The price of Toyota's 7yr/100K, 0 deductible extended warranty has been discussed on this board. See my posts #3007, 3001, and 2949. There have been no meaningful discussions about warranty coverage or anyone's experience with warranties.
Toyota's suggested retail prices for extended warranties are listed on the Financial Services page at www.toyota.com. The 7yr/100K, 0 ded warranty lists for $1425. The best deals posted here in recent weeks have been $850. I paid $950.
Assume comparable (percentage) discounts are possible for any of the other extended warranties that Toyota offers. You can purchase your warranty from any dealer, but many will not discount much, if any. That shouldn't deter you; shop around, negotiate hard, and expect a substantial discount. See post #2909 for my experience.
I bought my warranty in a package deal with manufacturer's pre-paid maintenance. If you want to do the same, assume the dealer's cost for any pre-paid maintenance plan is 50% of Toyota's suggested retail price (also listed on the Financial Services page at the Toyota Web site).
So this translates to about 2% over invoice. Is that a good price for Sienna XLE? I'm only now starting the research, and didn't find any posts about Northern VA prices.
I live in Peoria, Il, but I am willing to travel all the way to Chicago area, Milwaukee, WI or St. Louis for a great deal, if I can find one.
Also, what options do you folks recommend. I prefer to spend on safety vs. luxury.
Thanks in advance for all your advice...
Anybody had a dealer treat them like this before? Is it some dealers' practice to make promises they have no intention of keeping, if only for the purpose of taking people out of the market for their competitors?
Be a hold-out for the 05's.
Honda is what i'm leaning towards now!
