Porcaccio: congratulations on a great buy! Can't wait till I finally get one. Just sold my '96 Grand Caravan and have been looking for new wheels for the last month. I thought I had a deal with a local dealer (Michael's in Bellevue, WA) but even though I gave them a (refundable) deposit, they screwed me and never did order the car not did they tell me until I called them after 3 weeks! Needless to say, I'll never go back there... :(
If it's not against Board Policies (Steve_Host?)would you mind telling us who you dealt with at Toyota Marin? If board does not allow posting of names (I think I saw something about that), would you please email me? (addy in profile)

    TIA!

    :)

We ask that you not name individual salespeople since it tends to lead to self-promotion and shill posts.

It's fine to name the dealer and the location. (The blurb you saw is at the top of the discussion).

    I live in NC. I just bought a LE + package 4 + ToyoGuard + Mats + Destination = $25,000. Is this a good price? The price is ~$27600(MSRP)/~$24600(invoice).

Can you let me know the name of the dealer who sold you your extended warranty? I'm looking for a Toyota-brand (i.e., not third-party) extended warranty. Thanks in advance.

I just purchased a sienna XLE limited with package 5 (HE, Preferred accessory package (Z1). wheel locks and glass breakage sensor (V2) for $33,450. This is approx $200.00 over invoice. MSRP is $37,400. Contact the internet department at RH Toyota in Maryland. The other dealers in Maryland thought I was crazy but this is a real deal. Good luck to all.

I am shopping for a Sienna in NC. I have a dealer who is willing to sell me a Sienna for $200 over invoice plus $299. I am fine with paying $499 over invoice. However, I'm not sure what the invoice price should be. I would like a Sienna LE 8 seat with option #7, security system, and floor mats. Edmunds says the invoice on this is $25,308 but the dealer is saying the invoice is $26,219. What could be the cause(s) of the $911 discrepancy? I've seen folks post elsewhere in the forum that Toyota adds a 2-3% advertising cost to invoice. Is this true? Also, how much of a markup does Southeast Toyota distributorship get? Interestingly, they said the MSRP on this vehicle was $28,763 while Edmunds says $28,305, only a $458 difference. So where is the mysterious $453 ($911 - $458) difference between the invoice and MSRP discrepancies coming from? It's not so much the money I'm concerned about but rather that the dealer is being honest with me.

Thanks in advance to anyone who is willing to lend some insight.

It sounds like this would be a good time to start shopping around. Talk to more dealers, get their quotes and see what they say invoice is. You might even find a dealer or two who will show you an invoice and then you can see for yourself.

I bought my Sienna at Fred Anderson Toyota as well, just drove it home last night. I got a great deal with them for XLE FWD. Email me if you want the name of the person I dealt with (over the internet), he's very pleasant to work with and very upfront and quick to respond to emails. Good luck!!

According to Autofair in NH, they have one of these with a rear spoiler and preferred accessory package for their lowest price of 37,583 (MSRP is 39,870). If I'm not mistaken, this is about 2,700 over invoice? Any alternative dealer suggestion (i.e., ones that are 200 to 500 over invoice)on the East Coast? Thanks in advance!
  • joeblowjoeblow Member Posts: 11
    Hotch41,

I am from the Boston area and just purchased a new Sienna XLE FWD at $450 over invoice. I actually had a dealer on the Cape offer me invoice for an XLE AWD, however the distance, color and overall extra cost of AWD were deterrents. You should also be able to get any warranty at $50-$75 over dealer cost. If you plan on financing, go through a Credit Union, CapOne, or another on line lender to get the best rate possible, if you have good credit the Toyota dealer should be able to beat it. If you go in blind, expect the dealer to inflate his margins as much as possible on the car, warranty, APR, and trade in. Bottom line --> BE PREPARED!

When you are 100% decided on the exact Sienna you want I would email 10-20 local dealers (check out the Toyota website for addresses). Tell them that you are ready to buy immediately from the first dealer that can offer $500 over invoice for the car. You may want to have some alternate colors choices in mind just in case. Also, even if you do not have a car to trade in I would mention that you MAY be trading in a car. (A dealer might be willing to give you a great price on the car thinking he will get it back on the trade in -but you know better!).

Be sure to do homework and find out what a truly FAIR price is for your trade in. Check out NADA, Kelley Bluebook, Edmunds, etc... Check out www.boston.com to see what similar cars are RETAILING for used to get a target figure in mind. If they do not meet it, simply tell them you will sell it on your own. Remember be courteous but firm, they are just doing their jobs.

the offer was an XLE LTD with PKG 5 for 36,190 . What i have seen listed on line is . yahoo autos xle ltd with pkg 4 which is the same as pkg 5 w/o the rear spoiler for 32,625 . I also got from this site for xle ltd pkg 4 for 37,002 but the invoice is 32,982 . toyota has it listed with pkg 5 for 37,190 . So what kind of offer do i counter offer with and see what they come back with no one ever takes the first offer they get. this is rt 22 toyota in NJ . i am waiting for a response from a e-mail to them I will let you know what happens.

I have a hold on a LE with only the conveniece package, and a security system, for 26000+ttl is this a good deal for my area or should I try to bargain some more? carsdirect says 25578 and I think I can get them to match this what do you guys think?
  • ohresohres Member Posts: 46
The vehicle order placed on 4/14 will be ready for pick up on 4/29 (in two wks rather than the 8-12wks delivery promised). Received the VIN & their stock #. They told me that a customer canceled the order(?, heard numerous times from several dealers). It looks like that they find a closely matched vehicle allocated to the other store that they own. The Hood Protector will be installed in their shop, however. Will update once pick up.

for whomever is thinking of getting these.
my dealer informed me today that he found out we were lucky to have them built on at the factory.
Seems that you can't add the Toyota boards on after the fact.
seems odd to me, but just wanted to pass that along to anyone on the fence with the running boards.
  • jmessjmess Member Posts: 677
Make sure you like the way they look on the van. The ones I saw weren't color matched.
  • momstruck1momstruck1 Member Posts: 206
Look at them really good . Personally i didn't like them on the van and it kind of made it look funny . make sure you see them on the van before you order it. i was seeing a lot of them in the first few weeks I was looking but it seems they have all dissapeared .
  • lok888lok888 Member Posts: 1,788
You can order the running boards the same time you order your van. And you may purchase them from your local dealers. I remember I asked one out-of-state dealer. The parts department told me with the part numbers for the running boards and the mounting hardware. I don't remember they are painted or not. I also found one (Toyota OEM parts) on eBay for $280 plus $120 for custom paint job.

I am a big fan of running boards on minivan. I saw several Siennas with the OEM running boards on. They are about 1" or more extended from the side. It is not good for parking.

    joeblow,

Thanks so much for the great advice! Would you be able to share with me the names of the dealers you contacted? Which one did you go with? It would be greatly appreciated b/c I'd be willing to drive outside the Hartford, CT area to get a worthwhile deal. I feel putting together a deal via internet departments is the way to go. Thanks again.

I have the option to buy my Sienna LE down south or up north (DC/VA area). Any thoughts?
Can anyone recommend a good dealer in the Miami (preferably) or Ft. Lauderdale areas?
From their websites they all seem to have a $575 processing fee. Could this be the Toyota ad fee? Dealers up north don't seem to have this. Looks like built in bucks for the dealer to me.

One other question, I have seen different transport charges listed. Edmunds says $540, but some dealers charge $595. Are they just tacking on a few extra bucks for themselves? I thought it was a flat fee.

    Thanks in advance!

I just ordered a CE 7 at NC. Here is the difference between Edmund invoice and dealer invoice:

           Edmund Dealer Diff
          Invoice Invoice Invoice
    Base 20658 21284 626
    Gas 0 5 5
    Dst 540 575 35
    Total 21198 21864 666

Insist to see the invoice. A difference below $700 is reasonable. $911? No way!

For those that "recently" purchased in California, can you share about on long it normally takes to receive your plates? It's coming up on 2 months for me, although I did receive my "pink slip" last week that reports what the plate number will be. Is this a result of all the state budget cuts? I last bought in '98 and don't remember it ever taking this long. Thanks!

Why does the car I'm looking at have a different invoice price or MSRP than what's listed on Edmunds.com?

Feel free to Contact us for more (the contact form will get routed to the pricing data people).

I live in N. Calif. and purchased my Sienna March 20. I had personalized plates which I took off the trade-in. The dealer told me not to put them on the new car until I had heard from DMV. I called today. DMV said they had not received the paperwork until 4/15, and it had to go back to the dealer for "late fees." (Their fault, I did not have to pay any more) So now it could be up to another month. I believe part of the problem is that dealers don't send in their paperwork daily - they wait until they have a stack to send in all at once. And I am sure the cutbacks in state agencies has a lot to do with it also. You can call the 800 number for the DMV and they can tell you the status of your registration. Have the VIN ready.

it si on a XLE LTD WITH AWD> Pkg 4 i believe either pkg it had the dvd player . Anyway it lists for under 40,000 on toyota's web site and the "special" deal that the bay ridge brooklyn ny dealer was giving was 44,000 . WOW what a deal?? NOT thinking it is . first off this is not even what i wanted i want it with out the AWD. just thinking that 36,190 might be my best offer .

I'm looking at a 2002 Sienna LE Symphony package. It has 33k miles on it with a few dings and scrapes on it. Fairly clean and not in a major accident. Has an extended warranty 6/75k that is transferrable.

    (Pvt owner) He's asking $20,500

Any thoughts on this? Anyone with a '02 LE that can attest to their reliability?

    Thanks in advance
  • badgerfanbadgerfan Member Posts: 1,565
Hurry quick and buy a 2004 Sienna LE for a no haggle price of $2895! See the web site for Safro Toyota in suburban Milwaukee.
www.safrotoyota.com. Check their new car inventory list and one of them is listed at this incredibly low price.

Seriously, I am sure this is a typo, but kind of funny. I note they list 16 Siennas in stock, 13 LE's, 2 XLE's and one XLE limited.

Doesn't look like there is much of a Sienna shortage in my area.

Any one have any pricing experience in St Louis, MO Area? I am looking at a XLE with Package 16, got quoted the sticker price. Wanted to know how much was paid for a similar or any other Sienna?

I'm not in St Louis area but we just bought XLE Package 16, Glass Breakage Sensor, Headphones, floormats, sill protectors, 1st aid kit, cargo net, hood protector and sunroof wind deflector for $32,950. This came out to about $900 over invoice. We bought in Philadelphia area. Hope this helps.

I ordered a salsa red pearl Sienna LE 7 seat with option package #7 ("the safety package"), security system, carpets/doorsill protector, and autodimming mirror w/ temp gauge. Should be here in six weeks or so. The price was $28,180 plus tax and ttl. I purchased from Toyota of Durham (NC) and it was a nice, easy buying experience. I took a price I got from another dealership to them and they beat it by $340. Basically, they offered to sell me a van for $499 over invoice ($200 plus $299 "doc fee") regardless of how I optioned the vehicle.

The other dealerships I contacted were Rose (couldn't beat the price), Leith (told me to take the other dealership's offer), Fred Anderson (didn't return repeated calls), and Modern. A caution on Modern. On two separate occasions I received price offers from them only to be told when I was ready to buy that they gave me an incorrect quote (feigning confusion over what option package I wanted). One such mistake, maybe, but twice?! You know the old saying...

I financed it with Capital One: 3.49% for 60 months-- no one else came close.

Thanks for all the valuable information from Edmunds and their posters. You guys are great.

still borders on lunacy!!!!!!! I live near St. Louis and the got an AWD gk cf about 6 months ago BUT I drove about 300miles to near KC to buy it. This is what I got.

Vehicle: XLE AWD GK(#17) and CF (mats and sill protector) in Salsa Red Perl with no other options
    MSRP: $35071
    Dealer fees: $90
    OTD: $35161
    Discount: $2319
    NET: $32842

    Warranty: $970 for 84/100, $0 deductable.

I got mine at Vic Toyota in St Joseph, MO. If you dont mind the drive, this the best dealer in the Mid West. Its the most low pressure, straight forward, easy buying experience top to bottom.

If you e-mail me I can send you the information I gathered in my search (which dealers not to bother with) and the contact information that you will need. There are some St. Louis dealers which dicsount now but to get lowest price you will have to drive some.

I'm also looking for a Sienna in the St. Louis area, and would be interested in your information. Your e-mail isn't visible on your profile. This is my first post on this board. Thanks

I don't like Toyota of Durham. When I was shopping for our van, we called them for a quote and they told us to give CC number BEFORE they can give us a quote. What a joke! I hung up on them of course. We had bad experience with them with the Avalon in 2000 as well, but thought they've changed their way of doing business. Nope...apparently not.

Anyway, I dealt with Fred Anderson Toyota (on Glenwood) stricly via emails and got a greal deal. XLE FWD pkg #17 Artic Frost Pearl + floor mats for $28900 + tax, fees... That's the best deal I found from contacting all the dealers around the triangle and triad. Email me if you want the name of the salesperson I dealt with, he's very pleasant to do business with.
  • r9973r9973 Member Posts: 14
rxman2, I am also looking in the St. Louis area. Do you mind making your email visible so that we can share the info we get from each of the dealers? As of now I have pretty much gotten a varied response, from only $500 below MSRP to $1500 below MSRP to come in and we will talk about it.
  • r9973r9973 Member Posts: 14
nematode, can you open up your profile to email? I would like to get the info that you have regarding the stl area dealers. I have opened up mine, so if you just want to email me, would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance !!!

It's ok to mention names of dealers (ones you liked; ones to avoid). That would be a big help to people reading next month in here. A place to exchange emails really isn't very helpful.

Salespeople move around a lot so our restriction on naming them shouldn't discourage you from posting the dealer. A good dealer should hire and retain good salespeople anyway, you'd think.

    Thanks!

There is an excellent dealership located in Mattoon Illinois, which is in central Illinois. The name is KC Summers Toyota. A bit far from St Louis, but not a bad drive. I dealt with the General Sales Manager which was not at all pushy. Was very straight forward in accepting my offer of 3% over invoice. This was never mentioned, but I did figure their total sales price included about $365 TDA, but there was no doc fee at all charged, so that was a plus. No pressure to buy any of all the extra's when time to sign. I only put down $200 deposit and received my van in 5 weeks from ordering.

This dealership is also the lowest place to purchase a Toyota Extended Warranty. Since I purchased my Sienna there, I got the 7yr/100k/0 for $775.

Anyone interested in details can email me.

Good luck in your search !

Finally got it long hard thought went into it and either way I still have to pay chevy for the truck so what is the difference if I pay them now or later so the truck will go as soon as my toyota sienna XLE LTD with package 5 comes in . i got the silver shadow . I paid 34,400 . Not bad in the NYC area the dealer on SI was great over the internet. Walk ins are paying sticker or better. Hillside NJ told me nothing less then 36,190 for the same deal. and bay ridge brooklyn said 44,000 for the same car only AWD but I didn't ask for that. Hope I made the right choice we will see. But now I bought not leased so that is always a better choice.

Ordered and picked up mine today. Went to Jay Wolfe of west county, had a fight with the manager. He remarked looking at my invoice + some margin offer that I was out of my mind. Got really pissed off and called him a jerk and told that will never buy a car from there. Stay away, his approach was that I am selling a whole lot of cars and I don't need your business. Went to Seeger Toyota, was treated professionally and got the XLE LTD with Package 5, Mirror Sensor and Floor mats for $34400 out the door. Also got a 3.5% finance from TMCC. They have a supposed $69 doc fee which was also included in the price. Could have bargained for more, but our little baby girl (1 month old...) was crying at home and wanted to just finish this up. Would have liked couple of hundred less, but liked the car and it had all the options that we wanted. Email me if you want the name of the sales person out at Seeger Toyota, I would really advise to talk to that person.
