Google search is how I found Accutire. Following your suggestion for Griot's -- they have "The Ultimate German Made Tire Pressure Gauge Kit" at $69.95. It is capable of taking pressure from any angle. Does this sound like a good price?
>And don't depend on your friendly dealer to get >it right every time, either...my experience >suggests this is naive...
It's my 76 station that checks the pressure for me -- they do not tighten the valve covers, and I have lost a few. It is easier to drive around the corner where they cannot see me and get out of the car and tighten them myself than to tell them to do so
Miki
Best: Dial with hose
Next: Dial with straight fixed chuck [you don't have to guess at the right angle]
Next: Dial with angled chuck [in my experience, these are too easy to get just wrong enough to lose some air every time you want to use them]
Your service station experience is just one more piece of evidence...this is best done in the privacy of the garage, first thing in the AM with the tires stone cold. Any reading after the car has been driven will be inaccurate to some degree because pressure goes up with heat, but not by some nicely predictable amount - it can be anywhere from 2-6 psi depending on ambient temps and road speed. And beware one side of the car sitting in the sun with the other in the shade. Really, the only time to take a reading is when it has been sitting for hours out of the sun.
also... will whomever had a great deal on the extended warrantee please repeat the price.. location and salespersons name... my salesman said he would get his boss to match the price!
thank you!
12,000 miles and no other serious issues. The left center vent is broken.
I told the service advisor that I had a slight vibration and wanted the tires rotated. They did that at the first FSS but guess what, $57.95 for a tire rotation. That seemed a little high to me
You can buy 4 $30.00 goodyears and they will rotate them for free for the life of the tire!
This is all just minor whining. I love the car.
Go Vikings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

JR
However, here is my very preliminary take: Great power, especially low end torque. The M3 requires more RPMs before the feeling of power kicks in. C32 handling was very good and smoother than M3 at normal speeds, but I sensed it wouldn't be as tight when pushed. I noticed slightly more body roll with the C32 (compared to virtually none for the M3).
The biggest difference for me between the M3 and C32 is that the BMW has a manual and the C32 is an automatic. With substantially more torque than the M3, the C32's automatic is not a performance disadvantage (may even be an advantage); however, I just like to shift my own.
I will say that the interior aesthetics of the C32 are great. The black leather sport seats and dash and console layout looks and feels more upscale than BMW's.
It's a good thing that I am a few months down on the waiting list, I would have a tough time deciding between the M3 and C32 today. I hope to get a few more test drives (rather than rides) in before I buy either.
I have noticed that some people are having problems with both keys.. is anyone having problems with just 1 key....
BTW, my C320 states '1 malfunction' many times upon entering the car, yet when I start it, the malfunction goes away '0 malfunction'. Has anybody else experienced this intermittent problem? I did have a persistent malfunction that the dealer stated was a loose connection to the GPS antenna, which they stated they fixed. It is also bothersome that the computer instructs you to push the SOS button when a malfunction is detected, as it is not a free service to find out what is wrong with your car.
There's a very informative web site that discusses the pros and cons of various car care products. They sell them and also offer their opinions and advice on the products. They also have a tech line for further questions. Their address is http://www.carcareonline.com/
Of course, they can't perform miracles, but it might be worth a try.
Good luck. John W.
Personally, I would take the car to a professional, but I'll admit only after giving it a try with Zymol or Meguairs. My guess is you won't be satisfied with anything you can do on your own, but we both could be pleasantly surprised.
I have a web site devoted to my car with pictures and info.

How fast is the car?
;-)
Seriously, nice car!

I got my car about 3 weeks back and I just wanted to list out some things that I have noticed and would like to get them addressed at my dealer. Before i bring it up with them however, i would like to know what other people/dealers have done to solve the quirks and if they are indeed problems....
1) I have noticed a very slight vibration when I hit 40 mph. Is the fix to get new tires. i have goodyears right now.
2) One of my keys does not work. It only unlocks the car after about 10 tries.. does not start the car.
3) I hear the ticking noise when i start the car? is there a fix for this?
4) the drivers side light does not come on above sun visor
5) Right rear window does not come up sometimes. Have tried programming the switch but same results.
this would be it for now... any input or help will be appreciated...
thanks
1. Needs proper diagnosis.
2. Replace key
3. Sounds like purge valve. I read a post where they have
new valve design (different part number from
original) that's quiet. Have it replaced.
4. Replace/seat bulb or troubleshoot if that fails.
5. Troubleshoot
Let dealer do troubleshooting & diagnosing.

BLACK DAY FOR US ALL/.
ZMEENOW
It has cost me 2 days pay already.
Sunday I couldn't get it to crank at all. Call Roadside Assistance. They were going to send a tow truck and give me a loner car. Since I didn't buy my car from the Dealership that covers my area in Emergencies, they could not guarantee a free loaner. So I had to have it towed 30 miles to the dealer I bought it from. They make no provisions for any car on Sunday, they are closed. I waited around all Monday morning for them to come by and pick me up or bring me a loner. Finally around noon they showed up.
What really makes me made is that I asked the Rep. if they had check out the ignition system and starter, the week before he said yes. Also the oil level light came on. 2 oil changes and both times they overfill.
On another topic.. prayers to all who suffered today and their families.

w2p2, this is ridiculous, the dealer is doing a terrible job. Although I'm not a mechanic, It seems that there not doing the proper diagnosis, first they should change the keys, computer starting system, and ignition system. From that point they can determine if it's an electrical problem or fuel problem.
Oil is not filled manualy, it's done by machine. Whoever is filling it is not programming the computerized oil filler properly.
As for your loan car experience, not much I can say other than that's the way it is in CA also, a pain in the neck.
I would get the names of every mechanic who has worked on your car so far and call Mercedes, especially since you have Tele Aid. Explain everything that has happened and demand guidance, also put your conversation in writing to them.
Honestly, I would find another dealer in your area with a good reputation, make an appointment and take a day off work if you can. Go there and explain everything to him/her, don't hold back and demand that they either fix this problem or work with the other dealer to get you a refund/exchange. I'm not kidding, this has happened to you way to many times and is not indicative of mercedes benz autos. If you can't go to another dealer stick with yours but demand a fix or new car, talk to the sales manager and tell him point blank the cars a lemon, your dealership can't fix it and you want a new car.
Good luck.
Thanks in advance....

Drew -- to which Ian do you refer? Ian W? I do not know Chris, but I hope he is safe, too.

The first suggestion I would like to make would be to locate and turn off the Caps Lock button. ;-).
On car care, there's an informative web site at http://www.carcareonline.com/ Be advised that they sell the products, but they also offer an informative series of How-To articles. They provide a very good understanding on the basics on a variety of car care topics, including the proper use of car covers.
Hopefully, it'll answer many of your questions.
Good Luck,

Our prayers and thoughts go out to the innocent victims, to the police and firefighters trying to save those caught in the disaster, and to our colleagues, families and friends experiencing horrific loss and pain as a result of this national catastrophe.
ENJOY YOUR TOYOTA!
GOOD LUCK.
MISS MERCEDES
There are lemons in any make or model. You'd hear similiar stories on the Odyssey, MDX, etc. if you look hard enough.
I'd suggest trying to get MBUSA to help you trade it for another one.
I just wanted to mention that posting your messages using all caps makes your messages difficult to read. And you probably weren't aware of this, but most folks interpret caps as shouting so it would probably be a better idea to take that caps-lock off and type to us without it.
Welcome to our C-Class discussion in Town Hall and congratulations on your new car! :-)

JOHN W : IN YOUR REPLY #4287 YOU SAID TO TURN OFF THE CAPS LOCK BUTTON. WHERE IS IT LOCATED AND WHY TO TURN IT OFF? I WOULD LIKE TO HEAR FROM YOU. THANKS.

tragic events which have occurred. No one could have anticipated that so many lives would be forever changed by such terrible acts of destruction. My wife and I have visited New York and the World Trade Center multiple times and it is hard for us to imagine New York without the presence of the twin towers dominating the skyline. As we go about our daily lives, it is hard not to be affected by these events. We face a future of uncertainty and our hearts go out to the many people who have lost their loved ones. We can only continue with the hope that
our actions will help to shape a better tomorrow and hope that we learn lessons from this tragic event so that it is prevented from occurring again in the future.
GOD bless America.
