    Just Curious,

What color was the vehicle that you purchased? I almost bought a Midnight Blue Pearl with NAV/RES from them.
  • dulnevdulnev Member Posts: 652
"How was the vehicle "delivered" to your residence? did somebody from the dealership drive it to you or on a truck? Where was the paperwork...signing, giving payment, etc done?"

Yep, a guy from the dealership drove it followed by a "chase" car that took him back to Salisbury. All the paperwork was signed in my kitchen in a matter of minutes since I got drafts of important documents by fax the day before.

They already ran my credit card for part of the downpayment and I wrote a check for the rest of it. Presto!

    * Speaking of iPod.. I need to find a way to integrate theiPod (not via cassette deck or FM); that'll be an upcoming project."

There's an auxiliary A/V input in the third row. You can stretch an extension cord to the front...

    Hey all,

I just had a great Experience in Mahwah honda. I purchased a Sage Brush Pearl Touring for $31,108. I was shocked. The Honda in Newburgh was sticking to the MSRP and wouldn't budge, oh well. Mahwah has a large inventory of the different models. Our saleman, Al, was very helpful and threw in the wheel locks and roofrack crossbars for free. We also got the 2.9% for 60 months. Dealer fees were $118. Overall it was a very nice experience.

I also tested out the demo with RES/Nav. The navigation system is awesome!

Bought Sage Brush Pearl with Olive leather interior EX-L for $2600 under MSRP ($660 over invoice at $27,695) at Mechanicsville Honda in Richmond, VA a couple of hours ago. Also got $279 processing fee waived off.

    7yr/100K warranty for $1150.

    2.9 financing.

Paid $29545 on road (incl. splash guards, wheel locks, cargo tray) + $1150 extended warranty. Great buyer experience. The salesperson was not pushy at all and very willing to negotiate. Great finance guy as well. Overall strong recommend.
  • jainsahibjainsahib Member Posts: 2
People First (Capital One) most definitely offers the next best financing rates (though nothing beats the 2.9 Honda offer)

Just picked up our Desert Rock EX-L from Walker Jones Honda, in Waycross, GA. Wife loves it - which is really what matters.

I wanted to thank everyone in this forum for the wonderful information you have all provided.

After casting a wide net in Florida and coming up empty handed (I dont know what these Florida Honda dealers think - all I ever got quoted was MSRP and no one was willing to budge to under 500 below MSRP), I went out of the way to get some quotes from Southern Georgia and got an excellent quote from Walker Jones Honda for 30800, for an EX-L with DVD. The only added fees was a 249 doc fee and Florida sales tax (6%) - none of the high pressure sealant and other stuff was pushed on me.

I drove up there earlier today and took delivery. A 5 hour drive that was well worth it, considering that I saved big.

The only drawback (if you could call it that), was that I only got 500 bucks on my 10 year old beaten up Isuzu Rodeo. I am not convinced I would have done better trying to get rid of that thing on my own.

The Internet Sales manager was a pleasure to deal with - very straightforward (a rarity in Florida dealers anyway) and no pressure.

Check them out at www.walkerjoneshonda.com. If you live in Florida, I dont see how you could pass up a chance to save serious cash by driving a little.

By the way, I dont think curry honda wants to sell after care Honda warranties in Florida. Anyone know why?

I brought a Ocean Mist Metallic Touring with RES and NAV. the only good part of the buying was driving the car out of the dealership with a feeling that I dont have to deal with them more (hopefully)
  • neighborneighbor Member Posts: 10
Could someone tell me; Do you add tax-title to the TMV price or is the tax already estimated in the TMV figure.

    Thanks

I will give the complete numbers tomorrow. I got a touring model for invoice price.

Congrats, this is the first reported sale of an '05 Odyssey below invoice.
  • carltaocarltao Member Posts: 7
Would you please tell us more about this car buying service? (name, website, ...) $35050 is a very good price. Thank you & Happy New Year!
  • dratasdratas Member Posts: 1
Thank you all for your experiences in purchasing Odysseys.

We purchased an EXL w/RES, sagebrush with olive interior. We had a great experience at College Park Honda in College Park, Maryland. The internet sales people were straightforward and efficient as were the finance people. I strongly recommend contacting them.
  • luckylouluckylou Member Posts: 308
pazham , we just got the same experience in Cocoa , Florida. My wife test drove the Odyssey and she loved, but the dealing was not satisfactory, of course we bought the Odyssey Touring no NAV. for MSRP. They wore us down in spite of being prepare eating before dealing.

The Odyssey is excellent to drive , but next time I too might take a drive to southern Georgia for good prices .The Cocoa dealer was pushing the extended premium warranty for about $2200.00 , after paying sticker price we had no more money plus Honda has a very good reputation in reliability.

But the dealing gave us a bad taste in the mouth.

    Happy New Year.

I know, the special is valid until Jan 5 2005. What does this meas? Do I have to buy a car until that time? If dealer don't have the car what I like, can I get the special rate by

    only putting deposit?
  • cccompsoncccompson Member Posts: 2,382
I'm not surprised, Lou - I usually go to the Cocoa area at least once a year and have stopped at that store a few times without ever having a good experience.

There are too many Honda stores, especially in urban areas, to put up with a bad dealer. Folks should vote with their feet and go elsewhere at the first sign of any shenanigans.
  • cccompsoncccompson Member Posts: 2,382
The special finance rate is good only through Wednesday. Ask a dealer whether that means the car has to be delivered to the customer by then or merely that a sales contract has to be signed.
  • jeffs3jeffs3 Member Posts: 14
I just saw an add in today's newspaper for 0.0% financing up to 60 months at Middltown Honda. You have to put down 25% of the MSRP to qualify.

They are probablly buying down the rate. On 22,000 the buydown rate would be about $600 based on Honda offering 2.9% and they would have to buy down to 0.0%
  • obrien040362obrien040362 Member Posts: 134
I think you add tax and title. TMV is to high don't use this number. You want to be better than the average person.

Just bought a new EX-L with RES silver with gray interior. Got it from Mark Roberts in Bartlesville, OK. Shopped all around Dallas and no one willing to deal on this particular model. Mark Roberts discounted $2450 off MSRP and gave me $900 over trade in value on my 98 Accord EX. Worked with salesman on the phone and fax and when we arrived at the dealership it was detailed and ready to go. Quick deal in dealership and we were out the door. Also got the 2.9% from Honda and extended warranty at cost. Highly recommend this dealer as we were treated well and got a good deal. Funny thing is they went and got this one from a dealer in Dallas and trucked it back to OK where we purchased it and drove it back to Dallas. I owe a great thank you to this forum and the person that posted the info on Mark Roberts.

i didn't even have to haggle at all, it was the price the salesman came to me with!
  • moses7moses7 Member Posts: 25
FWIW....... I got a phone quote yesterday, went to dealership today and bought an Odyssey EX for $24,500. $100 doc. fee Plus TTL..... I am very pleased, everyone was very cordial and everything went off without a hitch. BTW........ The "good prices" may end Monday 1/3/05.
  • cccompsoncccompson Member Posts: 2,382
Outstanding, moses7. Wow - you were about the $1000 under invoice - by far the sharpest price posted here on an '05. You are also right that the good deals end with COB on Monday.

I was looking at stock there this morning and they had only a few EX Odysseys. Hmmm, a couple in Sage Brush, one or two Desert Rock, and a Slate Green with Olive are the ones I recall. Which one did you get? Any accessories?
  • teltel Member Posts: 6
Re: Richmond Honda That's a great deal!...did you pay destination charge? Also, did you deal with the internet salesman...finally, did you have a trade? Thanks.
  • luckylouluckylou Member Posts: 308
I thought that this special rate was for Honda Accord only and only if you qualify .The others models had a different breakdown , like 2.9% or $1000.00 cash back. When we purchased the Odyssey the salesman said , this vehicle had no rebates or incentives. Reading this posts it seems that the rates changes with each dealer. And they enjoy playing musical chairs with the customer especially now that they have a winner on the 2005 Odyssey.

  • cccompsoncccompson Member Posts: 2,382
Right now (since 12/22 and ending 1/5) Honda is offering 2.9 financing across the board (although there, I believe, an even better rate - 1.9% - on Accord). Your salesman was right - there is/was no rebate or incentive on the Odyssey itself.

Honda has never offered any direct (i.e., cash-back) rebates so far as I know.
  • scoutleaderscoutleader Member Posts: 18
I finally did it. I bought the Silver Pearl Metallic w/ gray leather interior yesterday. It's been a long journey to get to that point. After months of reading this board and others, dealing with Toyota and Honda dealers over the Internet, I finally decided on the Odyssey.

27,715.00(includes cross bars and wheel locks) +

    154.00 doc fee +

    5% MA tax +

    29.00 inspection sticker

Does anyone have any knowledge on the Simoniz System 5 application the dealers offer? I'm trying to decide if it's worth it. I haven't seen any mention of it in other forums, just posts about the Zaino products.

Also what do you think of the tire and wheel protection they offer for 5 years? It's roughly ~300.00. My husband thinks it costs roughly the same to replace one tire and rim.

I'm picking up the van on Monday. Thanks for everyone's help. Happy New Year.
  • longhorn2longhorn2 Member Posts: 9
todd123, congrats! I'm in DFW too and am thinking about going out of state also, what's the procedure for registration and paying TX sales tax? Any issue with driving back without registration?

    Thanks!
  • moses7moses7 Member Posts: 25
    Hi CC,

I got the Desert Rock because I thought it would be more perceptible than the Sage Brush.... The Salt Green you speak of was not offered to me, it might have had Leather which I didn't want.

As for accessories... The Ex came with more frills than I needed or perhaps will use... Anyhow, Hugh White is a nice place to do business!

P.S. Better get over there and get one before they're gone.... :~))
  • dosterdoster Member Posts: 1
I have recently started my search for a van for my wife. WE have narrowed it to the Sienna and the Odyssey. After looking at both the Odyssey appears to be just a little better. After doing some negotiating we have gotten an offer of $32,500 out the door on a '05 EXL. Does this sound like a decent price?

Also, are the prices being quoted by most people here out the door or pre Tax, Tag, Title, destination cost?
  • cccompsoncccompson Member Posts: 2,382
Good color there, moses7. I'm picking up a Pilot there tomorrow for my wife. She said either Desert Rock or Billet Silver were her co-equal first choices and refused to name a preference so I had to decide. Went with the silver because the gray interior is better coordinated than the saddle, IMHO.

While I am sorely tempted to also get an Odyssey for myself, it probably won't happen as I would have to give up one (or two) vehicles, both of which suit my needs well. Besides, the Pilot offers much of the utility of a minivan.

Still, I do have a hard time passing up an incredible deal...
  • dulnevdulnev Member Posts: 652
No, you actually have to buy before Jan 5th.
  • cccompsoncccompson Member Posts: 2,382
OTD pricing information is, essentially, useless given variations in tax rates and doc fees.

It seems to me that the best way to post price info here is to break it down into its components:

    1) Vehicle price (including destination charge)

    plus

    2) Any accessories (including an extended warranty

    plus

    3) Any documentation (or processing) fee (i.e., additional dealer mark-up).

There is no need to post information on tax and title charges since they are the same for any given jurisdiction and non-negotiable.
  • dulnevdulnev Member Posts: 652
DO NOT use the "out-the-door" concept. It's the ultimate in most confusing concepts! Just tell us what you were quoted for the VEHICLE PRICE (including destination charge).
  • gravedeegravedee Member Posts: 4
There are two Honda Worlds in SoCal -- one in Downey and one in Orange County. I don't know if they are affiliated. I had a negative experience dealing with the Internet Manager at Honda World Downey when I asked him for a quote. He was rude and seemed to have that I-could-give-a-rip attitude that seems to be increasingly common among Odyssey sales people.
  • skinnytonyskinnytony Member Posts: 121
moses7 & cccompson, why are you saying the good prices end COB Monday? Please explain. Thanks.
  • moses7moses7 Member Posts: 25
    Tony,

I was told by Hugh White and other dealers around Ohio (albeit not all) that any deal offered, had to be concluded by Monday's close. Why? I don't really know, probably has something to do with a Honda promo.... My purchase was approx $1000 below invoice, ($4000 below MSRP)

    Hope this helps.......
  • stacidallasstacidallas Member Posts: 15
Moses, that's an insanely good price! I just bought my Odyssey Ex cloth for $26,350 (no trade) and thought that I got a good deal. I have to ask though...was this a '04 Odyssey or a '05?
  • moses7moses7 Member Posts: 25
    Staci,

Same as you, EX cloth (no trade) i.e. '05 model....

I'm a newly registered user (though avid reader for the last few months of this outstanding forum). What do the American flag and other icons mean next to only some of the forum user names? Probably obvious but I can't find a 'key' anywhere and was just wondering.

Route 22 Honda in Union, New Jersey. But you even can do better on carsdirect.com.
  • moses7moses7 Member Posts: 25
Top left side look under "Forum Tools" and click

on "Preferences"... then look for a drop down menu where-by you can choose your country to display a flag icon. Then go to bottom of screen and click on "set preferences" That should do it!!!!

Really, it was tuff making a decision on which vehicle to buy(odyssey/sienna),but I'll tell you why we chose the odyssey. Me and my wife really liked the features in the odyssey. Like the adjustable pedals."wife is 5 feet". I really liked the leather seats when I sat on them."very comfortable" even though the ride is a bit ruff compared to my old 2004 T&C. There is alot of other reasons that I took the odyssey over the sienna, but I'll probably talk about that later. Ok let's get to the numbers vehicle $31,146.49 (touring model no nav/res) documentation fee $299 (still think they got me here) sales tax 7% georgia $2200.96 total out the door price $33,646.45

APR 4.90% Ok, let me tell you how I got this deal. As I normally read these boards everyday, alot of people here give good and bad experiences they have in purchasing or using there minivans "great debates" ,like Bush vs Kerry. Anyway doing my normal research on the odyssey, I came across a message board that read College hillside honda is having a sale 1 cent above invoice. So I called the next day and the salesman said it was true and that it was only for that day. so after talking for a few minutes I talked him into seeing if he could stretch that sale for another day. He said he would have to think about it. So 2 minutes later he said Ok but, my choices were the slate green and ocean mist blue both with black interiors. This is where it gets good. Even though that was a good deal, I didn't want to pay for the vehicle to get shipped here, which it would of cost $890.00 but since I was also negotiating with another dealer, (an hour from where I live) he eventually matched that offer "minus the penny." The story is actually longer than this, but I really didn't want to bore you to death. I took the advice of a one man here when he said don't be afraid to walk away.It took me days to get this offer. thanks edmunds and people on this forum for helping me get this "Great Deal"!!!!!! The dealers name is Grainger Honda in Garden City,Ga
  • todd123todd123 Member Posts: 2
longhorn2, They are sending paperwork certified mail and should arrive in 7days. Did not pay sales tax yet, have to take paperwork and pay sales tax at registration office. Gave us a temporary tag and copies of paperwork to cover registration. No problems coming home, its about 320 miles. Mileage well spent considering the deal I got. Also if you get RES make sure Honda put the freakin fuse in for it, cause ours didn't have it and they had to put one in for me. They said this was not the first one like that they've seen. Happy New Year!
  • stacidallasstacidallas Member Posts: 15
    Wow...now I'm pissed.
  • cccompsoncccompson Member Posts: 2,382
It appears that Monday is, for bookkeeping purposes, the last day of December and, hence, the last day for dealers to meet goals to qualify for bonus money from Honda.

From everything I've seen here and in talking with dealers, it is clear that potential buyers have a unique window of opportunity that will close tomorrow night.

For those who may think great prices are tied to getting shorted on a trade, see the recent posts by moses7 who bought without a trade-in.
  • minivanguyminivanguy Member Posts: 85
I've gotten my touring at invoice keep negotiating, and "Good luck". (That's without a trade-in).
  • isellhondasisellhondas Member Posts: 20,342
You are on the wrong car!

The invoice has no bearing on the prevailing marketplace and unless Florida is far different than my area there are none of these out there!

Also, posting your email address isn't a smart thing to do unless you want to attract a bunch of spam!

    Good Luck!
  • heywood1heywood1 Member Posts: 851
West coast seems to be an aberration. Discounts ARE available in most of the country for those that have patience and perserverance. The heady days of 2000 are gone for Honda dealers, as far as the Ody is concerned.

Still, posting a 'wanted' ad here seems kind of silly. I'm surprised it wasn't deleted by the Host.
