    Boonchilla,

I am in Aberdeen as well, and I have tried for a few days to get a single quote from these guys. I have checked around at other dealer ships and I have a quote for $29500 + TTL from Bryan Honda in Fayetteville. I would be interested to see what you get out of this dealership as I would rather buy locally. I was interested in the EX-L RES in Sage Brush Pearl. Wish there was a way to email each other.

Made deal final today, pick up tomorrow for Silver Pearl Metallic Touring R&N with black leather at $36,400 in Quad Cities. Could get another 1.5% closer to invoice with another dealer but they played games with trade-in amount once we had agreed on price at just over invoice. Said they would do either agreed price or low-ball trade price - not both. Internet guy as Zimmerman's in Rock Island is very direct, honest and no games. Spouse is thrilled to get back into a minivan from SUV - can't say I won't miss the SUV but the extra space will be worth it along with better mpg.

After trying to get the best deal between an Odyssey LX and a Sienna LE it came down to my wife's preference for the look of the Odyssey and the power along with all the airbags. Hey I like my accord but we got the best deal from a Chicago Honda dealer for:

Vehicle 22,800 (includes destination and cargo net)
    Doc Fee 55
    Misc other 25
    OTD 22,880

I'll pay sales tax and license later since I don't live in Illinois and nothing else so they say. We're supposed to pick it Saturday and I'll post how it goes later. Internet sales person was very nice, knowledgeable, straight forward and a pleasure to work with.

Can anyone tell me if there are any finance deals (low apr) on the Odyssey - I can't see any?

Thanks for every ones help on this forum. It made researching car prices and quality checks/comparisons much easier and it's nice to get every ones honest opinions with no strings attached.

    I did a quick calculation:

Looked at Blue-book trade in value for an Odyssey EX w/ 130,000 miles at my
    zipcode in good condition:

    1998 = $5395
    1999 = $6780

If you can wait one month and get an Odyssey for the next model year, then
by these calculations, an '05 vs '06 Odyssey at most will result in a resale
difference of ~$1400 in 7 years (Of course, this also depends on assumptions
about the base price of the '98/'99 Odyssey.

Personally, for me, the difference between an '05 and an '06 would have to be
less than $1000 to make it worth my while to wait. The question is, do you think
you can bargain with a dealer well enough to get that price on the '06 model
    when it comes out?
  • jon_jon_ Member Posts: 5
Oh yeah, should have also added the following disclaimer:

    - Your 7 year mileage estimate probably isn't the same as mine.
    - Your 7 year car condition probably won't be the same as mine.
    - Watch out for model year changes for the two years you have chosen
    - The longer you keep the car, the harder it is to make an estimate, but then
again, the difference between the two is also shrinking quickly.

I'd forget about coming to Nashville. Inventory here remains tight and no one is going too far below MSRP. We went to Economy Honda in Chattanooga back in February for our Touring and got a great deal. I've heard good things about the Honda dealer in Dalton, Ga, too.

    Good luck!

I'm also looking for a Touring with R/N...my dealer (central IL) says there aren't many out there, if any.

AND your orices sound really good...particularly the 36,637...hell, split the differnce with him between that and invoice...35,888 or thereabouts...where are you located ??

Seems like the Odysseys are flying off the dealers' lots in my area so inventory is limited.....got a quote for 32000 + taxes, etc....plus fog lamps for a slate green... is this good or too high? or what's expected in my area?

    THanks!

Hi, I live in Sacramento, CA and would like to buy Odyssey EX. I don't mind if driving 2~ 3 hours to get a good deal.
Would someone kindly provide the following info or any buying tips:
    1. What is the current Out of Door price in this area I can ask for the dealership?
    2. Does the 2005 Odyssey cleanance start?
    3. How much should I ask for if i want to buy 2006 Odyssey EX?
    4. any recommendations for a good dealership around this area (or within 2~3 hours driving can reach)?

    Thanks a lot.

I'm in East TN - the best price I've seen is the one another poster found in Greensboro, NC (about 4 hours from me) - $35387. The local dealer I've seen has said to take the delivery fee, dealer options off (*paint protection*, mud flaps) and a little off posted msrp. Umm, NO! A lot of the dealers are offering me the option of ordering one - but in 4 weeks we will be within a month or less of the 06 models coming out! I'm in no hurry, almost tempted to wait til the 06's are here and see what remaining inventory 05's will be.

I'm not buying that the Touring models are *flying off the shelves* - I'm thinking that most people would get the EX-L R&N for several thousand $$ less. I think the market for Honda buyers in the range of the Touring is limited. The salesman said that the Touring model was produced in limited quantity - which is part of why it's hard to find it on dealer lots. I see Odyssey's everywhere - I haven't seen the Touring ones on the street - since I started looking, anyway.

I bought an EX-L RES at Breakaway Honda and The internet sales manager was a different guy. He was easy to work with and his quote from that dealer was the best that I had the the upstate SC area. I did not meet anyone by Jeff Wilson from that dealer but it does not mean that he is not there. I paid very close to the invoice price for the EX-L RES though I had to wait 3 weeks. See my previous post for the details of that purchase. I am not sure about the Touring models but the price of the EX-L RES is the lowest that I received. No freebies were thrown in since it had to be ordered but I did not want any of those to be used to jack up the prices. I managed to find floor mats at Sam's club to cover over the original floor mats

The short story: I have a faxed Touring R&N OTD quote of $40,200.02
from Pacific Honda in San Diego. This is $1500 over invoice. Includes
mud guards, cargo tray, & wheel locks. Itemized detail is clean- $45
doc fee is the only dealer markup. No trade-in, no financing.

They won't honor it (the day after they sent it to me): "senior
sales mgr retracts approval of junior sales mgr".

Can they do that? If yes, what's the point of getting things
    in writing?

    The full story:

Salesman shows us various combos- we settle on Silver ext/black
interior, Touring R&N. They don't have it in inventory.

On the lot- I make an offer $1000 over invoice for a trade or
future delivery. If they can get one today- I'll buy today, otherwise
will place deposit. Make it clear no trade-in & no financing.

Salesman- to my surprise- comes back & says sales manager
approves, shows me the specific silver/black vehicle scheduled
to be delivered from factory (in ~ 1week), and shows me the
invoice price we're working up from. Will require $500 refundable
deposit to reserve. "Deal" I say, and allow myself to enter
his cube to start the paperwork.

As I'm filling out some basic name/address stuff (refused to
do a credit app, since I'm not financing)- he wanders off
& comes back: "can't do the deal: 'bad' sales manager thought
we're talking EX-L not touring, tried to argue with him, best
he'll do is MSRP." So I walk, leaving my phone #. Seemed
like the typical good/bad cop plus bait & switch tactic.

Next day, get a call from salesman- "I went to a different,
more senior sales mgr. Great news- he approved $1500
over invoice." Me- "Great. As long as there's no funky
stuff embedded in the OTD price, we got a deal. Fax
    me the itemized OTD quote."

He promptly obliges by faxing 4 different OTD quotes,
showing different price points with various
    add'l accessories & warranty packages.

I call back, get vmail, and accept the 40,200 OTD quote.
Tell him to give me a call, and I'll place a CC deposit.

Too good to be true- next day, salesman calls back-
yet another salesmanager nixed the deal. Best offer
now $500 below MSRP. They won't offer the written
    quote.

    Do I have any recourse?
  • ttarkingtonttarkington Member Posts: 18
You got a great deal! We're also looking at the Midnight Blue Pearl - or the Black.

I did get a quote from the poster here who is the Internet person there - $35700 + tax, title, admin fees.
  • odysseydriverodysseydriver Member Posts: 13
If i were you, i would not have tried to make the deal when he turned down the first offer. It seems to me that dealership got the idea that you have more money and would do anything to get that car from them.
Well, i dont know why you would do that.
bottom line, go to some one who honors their word like gentleman, and not to liers....

First off, thanks to each and every poster on this board. Your information has been valuable and useful in making my purchase. Now, I wish to do my part and give back to this board.

I called around 30 dealers within a 150 mile radius in the state of WA. (use http://www.hondacars.com). Here is the summary:

The best deal that I got was 750 over invoice + T&L from Discovery Honda @ Moses Lake. Most of the other dealers refused to even come close to that price. There was one dealer (forget where) who was willing to match that price, but only because they had a last minute cancellation. Unfortunately, they didn't have the color that I was looking for.

I had a very interesting conversation with Northwest Honda. On Friday, they agreed to match 750 over invoice for a pre-sale (est date Aug-Sept). I called back on Saturday and asked them if they could do better, because it was a pre-sale; and I had an offer on hand. They refused and added 400$ to that price. When I asked them to fax a confirmation, I got a delivery date of Sept-Oct.

After seeing a delivery date of Sept-Oct, I tried once more for a lower price -- The vehicle was available only after 2 months and more importantly, at the same time as the 2006s. They refused, and accused me of going back on my word.

Anyway, had the most pleseant experience in doing the deal with Discovery Honda @ Moses Lake. The other cool thing about them was the lower tax rate (8.1%). Message me if you want more information.

I'm in the process of purchasing an EXL in the Richmond Va area. I got an out-the-door price of right at $30K. So if you back out the sales tax and all the other stuff, it would put me right around $29K pre-taxes/fees, etc. The EXL to EXL-RES price difference in MSRP is $1,600...so apples to apples, that would be around 30,600 and your quote is 32,000.

Hope that helps you. Good luck in your experience.

Not sure what dealer you're working with. I bought my 01 Accord from Fairfax honda when I lived up there...not the best experience at that dealership, but I did get a deal done....
  • olesterolester Member Posts: 3
    Roastboar,

Glad to hear things went very well for you! Sounds like you got a good deal.

Question for ya! On your EX, did you get $750 over invoice where the invoice price included destination charge? So was the invoice price you started from around $27,400 or $28K?

    Thanks!
  • olesterolester Member Posts: 3
Sounds like a good one to me. Best deal I could get in Richmond, VA area was around $30K all-inclusive, out-the-door (3% car sales tax in VA). Did the 28,500 include destination? Know if they're planning to add that on?
  • roastboarroastboar Member Posts: 10
    Sorry. I paid invoice + Destination + 750.

I know that other people in other states are paying just invoice + Destination for their vehicles; but the supply/demand factor is in the dealers favor in the WA (or for that matter, OR) area. Most of them are selling their vans here for MSRP.

I did consider buying the car from another state and getting it shipped, but it wasn't worth it because I'd land up paying more with the shipping costs and the higher tax rate. If you purchase a vehicle in the state of WA, you pay the tax of the county you purchased from. However, if you buy the car from another state, you pay the tax of your county you live in. For me, the difference was about $300.

    Good Luck!

I live in Austin, TX and after a horrible experience with a KIA(Killed In Action) Sedona, I have decided to go with the King of Minivans, the Odyssey.

My only problem is that I really want the EXwL in Black/Tan color and either they are artificially reducing the supply so that you pay above sticker when a dealer gets them or they are really not as popular, as some dealers have told me.

I am willing to pretty much fly to any place in the continental US to get one and drive it back.
Any one have any information they'ed like to share about their buying experience for a Black EX with L? What they paid and where? I am sure when Howdy Honda gets one in August they will expect MSRP, which I will not pay since I plan on buying in cash.

I am in the market for odyssey touring N+E. I have been shopping around for a week and it appears that there are not many odyssey (touring) in honda dealers' lots in northwest suburb of chicagoland. That's for touring model. Forget about the EX model. I could hardly found any dealers with EX on their lot this weekend.

The best price I could get in this area is mid 37k + tax (touring w/ N+E). That is 3k above the invoice price. My comfortable price is between 35k-36k + tax (destination, docs, etc charges are included).

After a whole week of shopping around and researching, I think I am going to open up my option for toyota sienna. I found that toyota dealers' in chicago-land have abundant stock of sienna. I know for sure that arlington heights and schaumburg toyota have more than 50 siennas in their lot EACH. So we are talking about more than 100 siennas from 2 toyota dealers that need to be sold within a month or so since 2006 model is coming very soon. That does not include siennas from other toyota dealers.

I am not in a hurry to buy a mini van. Both sienna and odyssey are made by outstanding car manufacturers. It boils down to the features & prices that I would be comfortable with.

I have owned 2 toyotas and 1 honda, and now I am in the market for my second honda. Both toyota and honda have quality cars. However, I found Toyota dealers (i.e. sales person) are more customer oriented and not-as-pushy as honda sales perseon. 2 of my toyota purchased went without any negative feeling against the dealers.

If you are in the market for honda odyssey, and if you are not in a hurry and price is one of your major criteria, you may want to open up your option for sienna, or at least wait for a month until the 2006 model is out.

    Good Luck.

Honda of Joliet had two Touring w/NAV and RES on their website yesterday...Penske Honda in Indy is supposed to have a reasonable supply...my local dealer (Springfield) did a computer search and only found 7 or 8 Touring with NAV/RES around...also apparently the dealers aren't too willing to do any dealer trades...ummm...Quad Cities area could have some in stock...

My husband and I can't agree on the color of Odyssey we want. I want black b/c I like the look of it. I know it's hard to keep clean, but I don't have a problem driving through a touchless carwash once a week (in the winter that is, when it's too cold to wash it outside). However, my husband thinks we should go with a silver or white b/c it shows less scratches. Soo, what do you guys think? How did you decide on a color? :confuse:
  • gagirl1gagirl1 Member Posts: 17

  • cccompsoncccompson Member Posts: 2,382
Your best recourse is doing exactly what you did here - tell folks how you were treated. There are plenty of Honda stores around and business will evantually flow to those who treat their customers well.

I was sorry to see that Pacific Honda handled this so poorly. Due to sustaining two broken windows in a smash and grab while vacationing in San Diego in June, I took my Odyssey there and was treated wonderfully. Repairs were performed quickly and competently. Too bad their sales department is another story.
  • kingoffighterskingoffighters Member Posts: 10
I would choose the Silver, Silver is best to keep clean (hides dirt really well) and scratches too. White is okay, black can be a pain but if you are willing to do the work years from now (it is easy to be motivated to wash a new car, but a few years later, it gets harder and harder)
  • crystaltodcrystaltod Member Posts: 16
    We paid 34,500 OTD (32,000 6.25% tax, $50 Doc. $250 T&L)

How'd we do? We had to drive 100 miles to pick it up, but it just seemed everything in our area was sold or selling close to sticker. Our interior is Grey Leather.

Also, can someone tell me, if the center tray console is standard. We received one, but I didnt get the Pro Pack.
  • vdvvdv Member Posts: 3
That price looks about right for DFW area. Who's the dealer and are there any accessaries included in the deal ?
  • odysseydriverodysseydriver Member Posts: 13
if interior is not the criteria then silver is good. "WE" see interior more than exterior So I wanted the tan leather, its more luxurious and gray is very dark and depressing to me, i like olive better than gray....
so our choice was limited and we got the desert rock as that was the only light color available with tan.
It also depends where u live, if ur in texas heat then go with light color, more soothing, if northeast than black can be an option.

I live in Utah and dealers here want to sell the Ody close to the MSRP. I am looking for about $500-800 over the invoice. I'm willing to travel to the nearby states and drive it. Or even ship it, if the cost savings allows it. What is the lowest price I can find on a 05 Ody EX-L and from what dealer?

    Appreciate all your help.

I went thru Internet Sales at Lawrence Marshall in Denison.

The flip up tray is the only accessory we received and Im not sure if that should be counted as standard or not. There was some pin striping.

What type of accessories are being included for that price?

I wanted the Pro Pack but I can buy it later.

29886 including dest fee + wheel locks and a free oil change (honda oc world)

any thoughts on these quotes? Thanks...

You live in Texas and you want a BLACK Odyssey?

These simply do not sell very well in black. I'm in the Seattle area where it doesn't get hot in the summer and they don't sell well here either.

As a result, the dealers don't order very many. this is why they are so hard to find.

You may want to consider the fact, black shows EVERYTHING. dirt, scratches, swirl marks etc.

I know I've had my last black car.

Just bought Silver EXL w/ RES in NJ for 29800 (includes destination). Requested internet quote from over 15 dealerships in NJ & NY area. Received one email at invoice (but they didn't have color I wanted) and used this to negotiate w/ other dealerships. Three/ Four dealerships matched the invoice but again, didn't have color I wanted - they only had black/beige in inventory. Wanted to buy immediately. So ended up buying above invoice to get color choice - color drove price for me. Purchased at Mahwah Honda. Great service, in and out. Paid 115 doc fee, and ttl.

Thanks for the tips from everyone on forum...

You may be right, my previous 3 honda's (2 accords and 1 civic have been black), yet I like the look, the only other color I would like is grey. Also I am not very impressed with the rest of the odyssey colors, the red, blue, silver are not very appealing to me. I see you sell honda's? let me shoot you an email.

Also not the board to discuss this, but has the clunking noise with the VSA/ABS been resolved or is it a widespread issue, I know at least 3 people who personally complained about this.

I just bought an 05 Odyssey LX for 22,880 OTD :) (excluding sales tax and license) from Fletcher Jones Imports (fjhonda.com) and was quoted 25,615 otd for an EX. I just looked on their web and they had a touring with dvd. I was very pleased with the whole deal and would use them again because the service was first rate and when we went to pick it up last Saturday they even gave us lunch (great kabobs). Use the above in comparison to msrp and see if that will help you. I would give you the salesman name that I used but the rules don't permit it here.
  • gagirl1gagirl1 Member Posts: 17
I've received a quote on an ex-l with RES of $30,220. It includes spoiler and the windguard (or whatever) for the sunroof. This was an OTD quote. Sooo, your quotes look good to me.

Best deal I've found in NJ.

    Odyssey - 31,100
    Wheel Locks - 129
    Trunk Tray - 129
    Crossbars - 299
    Destination - 515
    Tax - 1930.32
    Registration - 342
    Doc Fee - 159
    Tire Fee - 7.50

    Out the door $34,610.82

Any obvious overpayment?? I'm ready to deal.

    Wheel Locks - 129
    Doc Fee - 159

Those two are glaring ripoffs. Wheel Locks can be had for $59 or so on handa accessories, and maybe $50 for doc fee.
  • jsfeinjsfein Member Posts: 5
Thanks for your replies. I wasn't familiar with handa accessories, and will be scratching the wheel locks, crossbars and trunk tray off of my purchase. Thanks for the heads up!!

As for the doc fee, I found NJ dealer doc fees to range from $99 to $175. Nothing in the $50 range. How negotiable is this item??
  • yankeesyankees Member Posts: 1
those prices seem reasonable, the best quote i've gotten in nothern cal is 29786 ($400 over invoice) for the ex-l with res (including dest fee)

i'm also looking to buy, but not necessarily in a huge rush (can wait a few months if necessary). would it be better to buy now, or to wait until the 06s arrive? will the 06 be more expensive? also, is it better to wait until late aug/sept to buy the remaining 05s (and run risk of not getting model/color i want)? thanks for any help
  • kingoffighterskingoffighters Member Posts: 10
When I negotiated with Paragon Honda (in Astoria/Woodside, Queens NY), I told them up front that I am not paying for any Doc, paint enhancement, blah blah blah fee. Any quote they give me is the final sale price. A friend of mine bought a Pilot from the Honda dealer in NYC (forgot the name, started with a P I think) and he only paid $50 doc fee. I think if you stand pat, or make the salesperson throw something of value in there (like wheel locks or mud flaps). Basically, they make money even if they sell the car at invoice, so don't let them BS you (about showing you the invoice price yadda yadda yadda).
  • jipsterjipster Member Posts: 6,299
Oh, it's negotiable. I guess a lot of it has to do with what kind of price you are getting on the van. Personally I have no problem with paying somewhere around $100 in doc. fees if I get a good deal on the vehicle.

Good luck on your negotiations and with your Ody.
