Still want to drive a Sienna and Sedona again. I like the looks of the Sienna better but the price and package of the Sedona is tough to pass up. $2,000 cash back makes it harder and I just heard from a local dealer they are selling at just above invoice.
So what do all you experts think? Honda is superior so pay more now to last longer (I take care of my cars and expect them to last; current car is 14 years old)? Save thousands and get the Kia now? Or even wait for hopefully better rebates from all manufacturers and try again during December when salesman are more desperate?
We have personally decided to wait for the 2011 Sienna available first quarter 2010. New styling and 6 speed transmission.
I'd recommend scouring car forums for Sedona info before going that route. When I was van shopping some time ago, Kia problems and poor dealer response to them seemed to be a recurring theme. YMMV

And even though I'm dealing online with the dealers' internet staff, when I've gone into the dealers they still pass me to a salesman. So what's the point of doing all the advance legwork (other then they know that we know what's going on) if I'm still gonna get treated as if I walked in off the street?
If I want to do a trade-in there to save time, should I wait until a firm price has been set for the new car? What if they balk at that point? I can't sign something first if it says no trade-in and then do a trade in, but can't they change their mind on price after I mention a trade?
When do I mention the holdback (I don't want it but I want them to know that I'm aware of it) and the current $1,250 factory rebate?
Finally, what's the deal with the KBB numbers they pull up to justify their trade in rate? Is that what dealers are suggesting to pay and not what dealers are actually paying?

We negotiated the price to $32,783 plus tax, title and fees. Also ended up getting another $100 off for a minor scratch on the inside of the door. From what I understand invoice is approximately $32,500, so we were happy. We purchased in Alabama.
We had test driven several over the last 9 months and finally negotiated this deal over email once we were ready financially. Got a few quotes from dealers all around and had the closest dealer with the vehicle we wanted match the lowest. Worked for us.
I definately suggest looking over the vehicle with a fine tooth comb before purchasing. We found several black greese spots under the floor mats and a few other problems and had them clean it again. Much better the second time.
BURLINGTON HONDA is your answer. I haggled with my local dealer but when they continued to be nowhere near "my price", I called Burlington, told them I wanted an EX-LRES and my color choice, but simply asked for their best price. They didn't have what I wanted but checked their locator and called me back with a price that was only $100 more than what I had guessed to be fair. Considering he was retrieving it for me, I was ok with the extra $100.

Chrysler's myriad quality issues with its newest minivans don't bode well for the Routan, and even putting these aside, this is not a segment-leading minivan to begin with. It's a competent people mover with a hint of Germanic flair, but rival models like the Honda Odyssey, Hyundai Entourage/Kia Sedona twins and Toyota Sienna will serve the typical minivan buyer better.

It looks like Toyota is out for revenge in the minivan space - personally, I am a 100% Honda guy but from the spy shots I see so far, I have a hunch the 2011 Sienna is going to be a better van than the 2011 Ody. I am seeing reports of a 6-speed transmission and the spy shots are of a much more agressive looking minivan than the spy shots I've seen of the Ody. Either way, even if the Ody comes out of top, it will be nice to see Toyota as a serious contender again vs. Honda. Hopefully that will help prices and remove some of the price premium Honda gets.
Either way, I think we're going to wait this one out to see the new models. I have a hunch that if I buy now, I'm gonna regret it when the new models hit the showroom.
I personally test drive this vehicle, SEL w/ fully loaded packages. Drive smooth, spacious, looks good. Some features I liked a lot which I do not see in Odyssey Touring or Sienna XLE LTD - like stadium seating option. 60GB HDD for DVD system, you can also watch 2 different movies/play games in 2 LCD displays. Overall looks impressive as a new vehicle.
What makes me worried is reliability. Chrysler engine is # 1. Also I read many complaints on door not locking properly. Unavalability of parts is another issue. I also see many positive reviews in MSN, yahoo and Edmunds, but 90+% of those reviewers posted their reviews just after purchasing the vehicle.
It may turned out that your vehicle stays in great condition for long period, but it seems to me higher risk than buying Odyssey or Sienna. If you want to adventure, you may get their top model for $10K off MSRP.
When purchasing a minivan, you should expect kids beat up the interior of the van. Chrysler quality will guarantee things will fall off.
So~~what lost the vehicle in our listing ?? The spare tire is under the car --under the second row of seats ....and our luck says "a flat is most likely to happen on the way to a wedding / or in the middle of a snow storm --neither time is prime for crawling under the car ~! "
Honda irritated us ---by pulling our price offer in July...the huge discount was gone ---because our salesman was certain that all would be fine-the next day. It wasn't.
Check out the Subaru line ~~is our suggestion ~! We bought the Tribeca --5 seat style--. The 2010's are coming out as 7 passenger seats ~~check 'em out ~!Should be hitting the dealerships in the next month or so.
Where should car shoppers be more aware ?? The finance office --learn about

Anyone know dealer cost 7yr and 8yr -100,000 mi warranties? I was told $1015 but I remember reading $830 on old post. Haven't shopped this around yet.
Also, anyone know of any banks offering good finance rates?
I am trading in my 1995 Ford Explorer XLT. It has 150,000 miles and in good condition. The last dealer ran the numbers on KBB and said they could offer $2,000 or so which is better than I thought. The other sites appraised it at $800. I know I'd get less at a dealer but that may be my only option. Any idea why the dealer would access KBB to give me a quote if KBB is not what dealers rely upon?

I am trying to neg a deal and all the local dealers charge apx $400 for a document fee in addition to tax, tag and registration. Is this a universal charge? and if so, anyone sucessful in lowering the amount or eliminating it all together? My goal price for the car is $34,000 and I am getting them close to it.

Looking at the website truecar.com, $34,000 seemed like a good price, especially for the region i live in. Now, i don't know who operates that website, it may be paid for by Honda Corp...I dont know.

Is $29K (plus dest., taxes, DMV, etc.) for a 2009 Odyssey EX-L decent? Or is $30K for the 2009 Odyssey EX-L with DVD better? Sounds as if I should bypass the DVD model and do it on my own but it might be easier to get the DVD model at $30K than the non-DVD model at $29K.
Got a quote for $37,999 + TTL for the Touring or $35,798 + TTL for the EX-L with NAV and RES.

I'm weighing the two quotes I have for a 2009 vs a 2010 EX-L.
I found a 2009 EX-L about 80 miles away and got quoted $29,500 (incl. dest) but didn't get a reply yet on the extra fees, etc or color. Tax would be aprox $1625 and tags/title should be $168. We would probably qualify for the 2.9% Honda financing for 5 yrs.
The 2010 EX-L quote is for a color that we like at a dealer in our immediate area. We have a blank check from Capital One at 5.2% over 6 years.
$31,288 - base + dest fee
$95 - service fee
$1726 tax
$168 - tags/title

$33,277 - Total OTD
