Seems as though Honda thinks that one should be grateful that they can purchase a Honda at MSRP. ;)

Yeah just got an email from the Concord, NC dealer here saying there are no incentives for November and hinted that I don't have anything to wait for and just come in "see" what they have. Their best quote was close to $34000 (not OTD) but they were keep pushing for me to come in "see" (read: get me in there and try and try to wear me down) PLEASE! I'll wait a few months for the new body style and watch for how much the current body style price falls. Maybe then the used 08/09's that are now being listed for new 2010 van prices will come down to reality. Heck if the new Sienna's get some edges I might forego the whole Honda route.

I got a quote from a dealer in SoCal for $40,400 for 2009 new Odyssey Touring w/o PAX out the door. The breakup is $36,700 (invoice price) + $3,700 (tax, license). Is this a good deal?

I proposed $38,000 out the door and it likely to settle at $39,000. There are not many tourings out there...Please share your thoughts

Don't forget the Manu to Dealer incentive of 1250. So you should be hawking for invoice - 1250. Remember they get something in the range of 600 or so in holdback bonuses. I was in a Honda Dealer, also negotiating for an 09 touring, for about 2 hours I did not see one soul walk into that dealership.

C4C did hurt 09 inventory which is why you will pay more for an 09 than if C4C never existed.

My dealer quoted me 35200 for the only Touring they had available. Unfortunately I can't tell you who it is because I am hoping to get that one. Just some food for thought.

If I only had the foresight to jump on the van when they had 2500 or the 4000 incentive going around. Unfortunately i wasn't in the market then.

BTW, I feel for you and that Cali tax. You would think with that high sales tax, you guys wouldn't be in this financial mess.

    Liberals/OBama take note.
  • venkuvenku Member Posts: 5
    Thanks for quick reply.

I am assuming $35,200, you mentioned is with out Tax and License fees. If I had to apply socal taxes its $35,200 + $3520 (roughly 10%) -> $38,720 - Its closer to $39,000, which is where I think the deal may end. Now that sales person did not call me back today, may be he thought he'wait to get me increase my bar?

Are there any other things that I can ask for the same $39,000? Floor mats and more?

Yeah, we are stuck in Cal mess. Sun is great, though.

I am planning to buy Honda Odyssey between now and Jan 2010, what is the best time? Is there any incentive or rebate around? Thanks!

    Hi,
I'd take that deal as is. A few weeks back, I got a quote of 40700 OTD for an 09 Touring, and the dealer wouldn't budge on the price knowing I have a quote for 33.5K for a 10 EXL R&N. Back when there was incentives for 2500, the lowest price I've seen for an 09 Touring was 35K. Given TMP of 35700+, selling at 35K dealer lost .7K, but make up for it with 2.5K or a net gain of 1.8K. As there currently is no incentives, and you got quoted 35.2K, that's only 200 above baseline when there was incentive (check out accepted braggle at autobrag.com back in June).
At 35.2K + 3925 for tax (ca dmv fee calculator) you're at 39125, just barely above 39K. That is a very good price. I'd have love to have a Touring for the wife, but could not justify the additional 4K for the bumper assisted parking (at 40.7 - got my R&N for 36.7). Good hunting.

That is a great price. What dealer is this? If you don't mind.

    I'm looking at either an 09 touring or a 10 EXL R/N.

The dealer is Pohanka honda of Fredericksburg exit 133 off of freeway 95. They have a lot of 10 odyssey. Check them out. I spent 20 min. on the phone with the internet sale manager and finally got an email with the quote of 32500 before Tax, Tittle and Fee.

We also just purchased a brand new 2010 Odyssey Touring from Honda Car of Hickory. We were so delighted that they could supply the color of our choice, we came from out-of-state (and 1.5hrs from our second home)! (Hendricks does have pull on this frustrating Honda color aspect!!
Despite an elaborate and lengthly presentation of their multi - "Hendricks "Autoguard" Extended Warrnatees -- (TWICE on the $400 polish/scotchguard) - they never made time to mention that "Honda Care", the nationwide official Honda product for extended warantees was a choice. Having never before purchased an extended warrantee and keeping our cars over 10 yrs, we carefully considered the 40K+$ cash price we paid and extensive technology of this model, and bought a $0 ded. 7yr/100K Mile plan w.
Because of other difficulties incurred and dissatisfaction with this Agency, (after the door closes the "Honeymoon" abruptly ends - trust us!!), we inquired about the time to get our refund back on this ONE WEEK DEAL. Wow, 6 weeks for $1550 for an instant Amex charge!!!... "Buyers please BEWARE!
    PS:
Wouldn't you think a Honda Dealership would not be allowed to misrepresent or conceal such a product - as we've just verified by the numerous posted experiences of others?? Wake up American Honda and stop chasing the bucks, and rewarding/protecting the "Power Dealers"i>instead of your Customers!!

32500 including destination I presume is an amazing price, actually even not including destination.

I have to see it to believe it.

Thanx for the quick response, this will help me immensely. The lowest quote I could get for an EXL w ONLY RES was 32k including destination. I thought that was a great price.
  • szn1szn1 Member Posts: 12
I just spoke with them and their best price was 33800. I even referenced 32500 specifically and they said no good. 33800 is still the best price I've seen. Were there different incentives when you bought that we don't know about?

Who did you speak to specifically if you don't mind.

    Thanx again!

I've been searching all over Chicago and the best OTD price I've found is:

    $24,123 Sale Price
    +$151.65 Doc Fee
    +$2,245.41 Sales Tax
    +$144 New Plates
    =$26,664.06 OTD

    Good deal?
  • amaaamaa Member Posts: 8
    Dave

    Million thanks again !
  • pigkingpigking Member Posts: 1
It is certified with 55,000 miles.
Dealer asked for 24, 000 before tax and fees.
    What do you guys think?
  • jayriderjayrider Member Posts: 3,602
If it is in perfect condition then the price is about what they seem to be listed at. You should keep in mind that you could buy a brand new nicely equipped minivan for that price or a few grand more. It won't be a honda so if that is what you have to have then buy it and good luck. You can confirm this by looking at other minivan discussions or looking at various pricing sites.

Sounds like a lot of $$$ to me for a vehicle with 55K on it.
  • venkuvenku Member Posts: 5
I am still fishing...Dealer backed out that there are only two 09 Tourings available and no dealer is willing to trade. The other 2 dealers which had 09 tourings - one had demonstrator vehicle and other was not willing to give at costco price, since they are registered with costco auto buying program.

I live in OC area and signed up with Costco auto buying program. Dealers registered with costco are only offering inv+$650 as price + tax + License. For a 2010 touring its almost $42K out the door. Do you think other dealers can beat this price? Spreen or Weir Canyon or any one? I am interested in 09 or 10 touring.

    Thanks
  • jayriderjayrider Member Posts: 3,602
Plus the van is 3 -4 years old. Having said that, like vans are listed on search engines for the mid-twenties. Doesn't seem like a good value to me.
  • jyxjyx Member Posts: 8
I am looking for 2010 EX-L w/o R & N. Quoted 30071 + Tax + Title/doc/plate. Is this a good price? When are we going to see any incentive from Honda:) Thanks
  • jayriderjayrider Member Posts: 3,602
Seems like a very competive price re posts on this discussion. If you really like the van, i wouldn't wait. Even if there are rebates -- the dealers will minimize discounts to offset some of the savings. The fire sale last spring was because inventories were way too high. Don't look for that to happen. Of course the quote is just talk until you have a signed sell order. Good luck.
  • dandydoniidandydonii Member Posts: 45
I disagree 100% with Jayrider regarding the likelihood of incentives and potential savings. Honda has had to give 2500 incentives the last couple of years to sell product. The only reason you don't see great deals right now is because Cash For Clunkers allowed Honda and Toyota to sell a lot of minivans so they have limited 09 to sell. It will take a little while for pressure to mount on Honda to offer incentives due to rising stock of the 2010, but i can't believe that it won't happen soon. The current prices are 2500 to to 4000 more than what were being quoted over the last 18 months. If you need a car now, the quote sounds fine, but if you can wait up to 6 months, I would do so.
  • jyxjyx Member Posts: 8
Thanks for the replies. I cannot wait for another 6 months. esp. that I'd like to take advantage of the tax deductible on sale tax before the end of this year. If you guys think $30071 is a good price before tax and everything else, I am going to call the dealer.:)
  • jayriderjayrider Member Posts: 3,602
That price is about 1k below what I've seen. Bet it doesn't include destination. If it does -- great buy. If not -- good buy. Have a feeling there are going to be a few surprises when you sit down to write up the deal. hope I'm wrong. Good luck.

    Hi,

Here is a link to TMP on your model:
    http://truecar.com/Honda/Odyssey/2010/best-price-report-CD025BB0.html?colorInfo=- Taffeta%20White,Gray,2010_Honda_Odyssey_Taffeta_White.jpg&optionInfo=6194772,619- 4776,6194754&trimId=318964&modelId=19782&zipcode=60610

    Another link to reported purchase:
    http://www.opencarprice.com/auto/page/4/Honda_Odyssey

It looks like you've beat that price by ~400+, and by 500+ below TMP. I agree, if it includes destination fee (which it should) then it is a great buy. Even if it doesn't include destination fee :(, you still pay ~TMP. It looks like your dealer relies on quota for profit. Good luck.

WOuld you mind posting the Dealership in NJ?
  • jyxjyx Member Posts: 8
Thanks for the info. The dealer came back, adding another $399 for accessories installed. At least he was open about the extra.
  • jayriderjayrider Member Posts: 3,602
So, your deal includes destination? The $399 extra still leaves you with a good deal --but until you sit down with a purchase order -- I'm a bit leery. these forums are full of deals people get on the phone or online that have a "oops we forgot factor" once you get to the dealer. Here in st. louis one of the big honda dealers includes 2 years of oil changes, inspections, rotations.Say you want that included in the $399 accessory pack. Don't know if you can get that -- but might ask for 3 years included in the deal. Good luck.

Does anyone know if this is a good price for a 2010 Honda Odyssey LX. $23,995 before taxes and fees?
  • 5649fm5649fm Member Posts: 4
I got my Ody (EXL R+N for the same price (Plus Tax) from DCH Academy Honda, NJ back in the C4C days.
  • artfogartfog Member Posts: 9
Leased a 2010 Touring today from Honda of Hollywood.
Base price: 37,470 with money factor of 0.00139 and residual of 51% + taxes = 606 monthly payment.
Thanks for all your feedback on pricing.
They honored the Overstock quote via Zag. BTW the Zag quote went down about $500 over a period of a week, so worth checking it.
  • lono37lono37 Member Posts: 5
So we've gotten a few quotes from local dealers...best is 32167, including destination, for a 2010 EX-L RES. Is that a good price right now (just saw they started the 2.9 financing yesterday as well). Thanks.
  • venkuvenku Member Posts: 5
What is the average price for 2010 Odyssey Touring in SoCal excl Taxes and License? Is it invoice price ($37,612) ? If less or more, by how much?

All the dealers that I talked to are not willing to go below invoice price. Which dealer offers amicable prices? Any contact would be greatly appreciated.
  • artfogartfog Member Posts: 9
On Friday I got 37,470 from Honda of Hollywood in Los Angeles (see post above)
  • sdlxsdlx Member Posts: 2
thanks! I am willing to pay 30K, not sure I can get EX-L though, looks like I have to go with EX? the invoice I got for EX is about 27K.
  • jyxjyx Member Posts: 8
is 30K out-of-door price or before tax? I got the quoted price on EX-L out of door below 33k
  • toyotabuyer2toyotabuyer2 Member Posts: 8
I got a quote for $30500 with destination in bay area not sure how much OTD will be.
Can you please share the dealer name who gave $33K OTD.
  • sdlxsdlx Member Posts: 2
30K for out of door price. http://consumerguideauto.howstuffworks.com/2010-honda-odyssey-2.htm says the invoice price is $30,261 for EX-L. it seems 33K out of door is not bad. (assuming the invoice number is fair :)
  • venkuvenku Member Posts: 5
Thanks. I saw you mentioned lease - so thought may be it will be different for financing? Looks like 37K base is good buy?
  • dgrodgro Member Posts: 6
Is $27,350 a good price for 2010 Ody EX - would be 29,765 (OTD)?
  • nobonobo Member Posts: 305
In my area you can get a 2010 Sienna XLE with leather and moonroof for OTD that price. Honda dealers are not dealing at the moment. Still basking in their C4C profits.
  • toyotabuyer2toyotabuyer2 Member Posts: 8
Which model in sienna is equivalent to odyssey exl ?
I want to compare prices of similar models.
  • orgeeorgee Member Posts: 4
Best price I could find so far in central TX is $28,110 + TTL. If anyone has better deal, please post price and dealership info.

That's a great price - it's approx $750 below invoice which I can't find anybody here in the Los Angeles area at that price.

Does anyone know if it is a good price for a 2009 Honda Odyssey LX. $25,500 out of door?

Sienna XLE with Val package #2. That gets you leather and the moonroof.
