I have a 2002 TB LT and I am 6'2" and weigh 205 lbs. and the seat belt and seats in my TB are very comfortable for me. I also have plenty of headroom which is a major problem for me in most vehicles.
  • davemmdavemm Member Posts: 33
I looked at a 2002 Trailblazer and noticed that if I wanted to fold the rear seat flat I had to move both the drivers and passengers seats forward in order to accommodate the rear seats to be folded up against them. I also notice that the rear seat bottoms are not removable like in my Jeep Grand Cherokee.

So is the GMC Envoy the same setup. Do I have to have the front seats forward by 2 3 inches if I want to have the rear seats folded down? Okay case, do the Envoy’s rear seat cushions remove?

Botom line can I fold the rear seat down without moving the drivers seat forward in an Envoy?

Thanks, it’ll save me a trip to a dealer.
  • mfullmermfullmer Member Posts: 773
This is one area in which GM fumbled the ball. The rear seats in the last generation folded beautifully. The bottom cushion would move forward, the rear cushion would move down, and the headrest would fold back all in one fluid motion leaving the floor absolutely flat.

Unfortunately, I have found in my Bravada that not only do the front seats have to be moved fairly far forward but the rear console digs into the leather in the middle portion which no doubt will become a problem if you leave them down too long. It also is never completely flat.

Oh well, at least we have the other great aspects of the vehcile.

to: mfullmer. I haven't had any transmission problems with my TB but you might want to check out the technical service bulletins. There are three of them regarding the transmission on the TB

Sounds like lots of people (including myself) are waiting for the XL version of the Envoy to come out. I have found this link to be extremely informative on what to expect. Have a look....

I took my truck in to get the passenger power lumbar fixed (didn't work at delivery)... they fixed it, but managed to gouge the plastic center console at the same time...

Is there anyone out there that does quality work anymore, or do I just not have reasonable expectations?

Has anyone experienced a loud squealing noise from the front right side of their Envoy? Mine makes the noise in the morning after driving for about 5 minutes and only at speeds greater than 25 MPH. I took it to the dealer and he had a mechanic take a ride with me. He heard the noise and asked me to leave it so they could put it on a lift and try and reproduce the noise by running the truck in 4wd. Of course the noise doesn't happen then!

Anyone with knowledge on this experience?

Also, the noise goes away after driving for about 30 minutes.

Why is the Chevy Trailblazer 3 inches higher than the GMC Envoy? What would cause the extra height?
From TB and Envoy info books.

I just picked up my 2002 TB which had an engine replacement due to a loose cylinder sleeve at 2166 miles. It spent 10 days in the shop. I would advise anyone whose 4.2 I6 starts ticking like a lifter to have it checked quickly. Mine ticked for about 5 miles then quit entirely. A cylinder sleeve had come loose, causing compression loss. The dealer did a very nice job of replacing the engine. Chevy would not replace the TB outright. The dealer told me there were other reports of this problem.

I have a rattle in the roof which sounds like a wire banging against the metal roof. The dealer can't fix it. I've tried taking out the eyeglass holder and stuffing foam padding in there but there is not enough clearance. Any ideas? The noise is constant and drives me crazy. The Envoy is great in all other respects.

I have loved my 2002 Bravada. At 500 miles, the "service engine soon" light came on. I don't drive that much so figured it was because I had changed fuel octane. In my old Olds, I always used 91 octane; the salesman and my husband said I only need 85 in the new Bravada. The manual says 87. I tried different combinations over the 3 full tanks I've put in the car since I've had it.

So I waited till I went through a couple of full tanks. The light never went off; the car still acted great. Figured it was a computer screw-up..pollution type stuff. But, I realized that if I didn't have the "proper authorities" check it out, it could invalidate my warranty.

I was assured that every GM dealer would service my car. The Olds web site said it, the guy that sold me the car said it. It HAS been 4 months since I bought the car...like I said, I don't drive that much. When I went in to the Pontiac dealer that is within walking distance of where I live, he refused to touch the car......

I took it to an authorized Olds dealer. It is hard for me.....very bad neighborhood and can't walk home or go anywhere.

Since there are only 2 OLDs dealers in this entire city--city over 3 million....I took it to the dealership that was the closest.

I took my car in, it had to be left. The next day, they still couldn't figure out the problem. The service mgr. said they would have to drive it. My husband said OK. I was given a rental from a rental car company.

Third day, it was fixed. As I suspected, it was just a computer glitch. They couldn't fix it until they called the Olds rep who told them that they had to reprogram the computer....apparently, it wasn't yet a TSB.

I had to fill up the gas tank on the rental....$4.25...when I returned it. When I saw the actual mileage that I drove, I realized that I was way too generous. Not knowing how the gauges worked, I filled it to full just like when I got the car. I drove 30 miles in the rental. Hmmm.

I got my girl back. She's OK but was covered with oil .......like if somebody had taken an aersol can of cooking oil and sprayed it all over the passenger side of the car. The car had been driven 70 miles in 2 days.

This is my first car in 16 years. What are the rules now? My husband gave permission to drive the car to see what the problem is. When I went to pick up the car, the service mgr. told me how he had never had the opportunity to drive a 2002 Bravada before. He loved it.

My husband says "hey, better at his house than in the lot in that neighborhood." I said, no problem, but isn't this something that I should be asked about and agree to?

I can't complain to the dealership because I don't think I have anything to complain about. Or do I? Is 70 miles normal, minimum, excessive to drive a car to duplicate the problems the driver experiences?

The only 2 Olds dealerships left in this city require you to drop off the car before 8 AM. I can't possibly do that. I have a Chevrolet Dealer, a Pontiac dealer and lots of foreign car dealers. I love my Bravada, but I'm tired of fighting corporate crap.

Years ago, I spent hours writing letters asking our city council to re-evaluate their decision to put in a 3 story, densely populated apartment complex. It is being built. No problem. I will never spend my time again in efforts that I, essentially had no impact over.

So, fellow tripleters, is this something worth writing GM about? Do I have a legitimate complaint?
  • zecgeotzzecgeotz Member Posts: 22
You are not. Of all the auto companies GM is worse for this type of dealer crap and customer relations. This is one of the reasons they continue to lose market share.

I have a new 02 Bravada also. I am very pleased with the features of the truck, but the attention given to the details of design, engineering and production leave much to be desired. I won't get into the frustration I've had with my dealer. Be thankful you have a 60 month/60,000 mile warranty.

I am not sorry I purchased it, but I thought that GM would have come alot further than it has. This is why Consumer Reports continues to downgrade new GM vehicles even when the innovative Bravada and its sisters are introduced.
  • mfullmermfullmer Member Posts: 773
Yes, it is true that you don't have to take your Bravada to an Oldsmobile dealership for authorized service. HOWEVER, you only want to take it to an Oldsmobile, GMC, or Chevrolet dealership as they are the only ones familiar with the trio. (Well, they are supposed to be anyway.)

Pontiac and Buick dealerships do not sell a similar vehicle so their technicians are not going to be familiar with it nor are they going to have the parts you need.

I have taken my Bravada to both the dealership where I purchased it and a closer GMC dealership and have had no problems. (With them willing to work on it. Now why these guys seem to want to put their dirty, greasy hands all over the interior of the vehicle is another story!)

Absolutely no problems so far.I test drove everything on the market. Lexus Mercedes BMW MDX QX4 Toyota Explorer etc. None compared to the comfort, perfomance Bose radio and quiet ride of the Envoy. I traded a 2000 EB Explorer for it. Nice to see Motor Trends choice

I just picked up my 2002 4WD Envoy SLT last night (Monterey Maroon / Medium Pewter, sunroof, Bose 6 disk stereo, heated seats and running boards). So far I've been very pleased. MSRP was $37,345, I got the GM supplier price which was $34,000. It's a great deal with $2,000 GM card dollars, $1,000 Old's loyalty, and 2.9% finacing for 48 months. Even without my discounts, you're not going to find another truck with this level of performance and features for the money. And it doesn't hurt that it's probably one of the best looking trucks on the road.

My truck was just delivered this week, and I think it was worth the wait. I was concerned with a lot of the problems that I've been reading, and I think GM has been doing a good job of addressing the issues.

The metal bar in the back seat has been redesigned and is no longer an issue.

The ride quality is just great. I don't know what the problem was with the 2wd truck that Edmunds bitched about. I spent the day driving over 200 miles on a mix of highway (70+ MPH) and twisty back roads, and the more I drove it, the more impressed I was.

The transmission is so smooth. You don't even notice it shifting.

    The brakes work great.

I don't think the wind noise is bad at all. The dealer already had the roof rack slid back when I picked up the truck.

I have the 3.42 gears and the computer has averaged 18.2 MPG. It was at 16+ when I left this morning, and increased throughout the trip. I did spend maybe 60-70 percent of the time on the highway, but I also spent the rest of the time in rural areas with hilly roads and intermitant stop lights, stopping several times along the way.

The 4.10 rear probably is a little quicker from a stop, but the 3.42 feels plenty fast. I was more concerned with the fuel economy, and at 70 MPH the engine is only turning around 1900 RPMs.

I haven't noticed any problems with fit and finish.

The Bose six disk in dash CD sounds great. It's not very intuitive, but once you learn how things work, it's not that bad.

Mine did come with the rear cargo mat.

It was no suprise to me that MotorTrend selected the Envoy as SUV of the Year, and I would certainly recommend it to anyone considering a new SUV.

Finally2. I have noticed a very subtle pedal vibration at similar speeds. In addition I hear a very soft droning like noise. I have wondered if anyone else has experienced this. Yours is the first post I have found. I have noticed this ever since I bought it. My TB has 4200 miles and I bought it March 31, ok, so I have really only had it since April 22 due to THE recall.

I am taking it in to have the left side mirror replaced since I have a very slight intermitent jiggling of the mirror. I am going to ask about the vibration but will be surprised if they know of anything to do. I experience this on smooth roads and have the radio off. I have noticed with the Bose radio playing music with a lot of bass that you seem to get a similar vibration.

Has anyone added a lock to the spare tire? If so, what do you recommend?

    Hello all,
Can anyone provide more details one what changes when choosing the Bose stereo option over the factory default. Are the speakers different along with a more powerful amp? The brochure for the Olds Bravada provides no useful details. Any good description someone can point me to?

    Thanks,
    Tom

Ficuss, What a damn shame. Hopefully, this was a fluke and not an up and coming 4.2 problem.

imototo, you're not out of line, just long winded. :) You should not have to put up with grease in YOUR vehicle, and YOUR vehicle is not a demo for the service manager.

trek1420b: I too have noticed the vibration you described. Similar to the feel you get from a standard transmission car at low rpms (but not lugging). I think it is when the torque converter is locked at a certain rpm, and is normal, as I have noticed it in other vehicles.

tt66: read about the Bose here...seems to be a pretty good description. BTW: the Bose in the triplets is MUCH better than the Bose in the Infinity QX4 and Acura MDX that I tested. I highly recommend it.

Trek1420b: I too have felt a vibration in the peddle of my 2002 LTZ Trailblazer. It started the first night I picked up my truck and has not gone away. However, it does feel like it is not as bad as it was (I am now at 1100 miles). I bought mine in September.

It is very predictable. It usually happens at 51 miles an hour and the RPMS are at around 1900. It persists through 55 miles an hour.

I am very concerned about it. I do not feel that this is a normal thing and something that a $36000 truck should have. I have not taken it in, but will at my first oil change.

Additionally, it seems that the area where my feet rest, I feel a lot of vibrations from driving. Is it me or are other people experiencing the same thing?

I also noticed that the black weather-stripping around the windows seams to be fading. I remember somebody else saying something about this. What is the best product to put on it?

Beside that and the fact that my left mirror never seems to be in exactly the same place, I love this truck. Just hope I can get the vibration thing resolved, without the dealer saying, "they can't reproduce it, or that is the way it works!)

If anybody else has had this problem, and has taken it to the dealer, please share any feedback.
  • ficussficuss Member Posts: 541
Most cars have a vibration at one certain speed, this is called the natural resonance of the car. It is the time when everything that moves is moving at the same frequency. I've experienced this with nearly all cars I've had. If you're lucky, this won't happen at your favorite speed and RPM combo. The fact that it is felt at the pedal is odd, the gas pedal is not connected to the engine through rods. From what I have read, it is connected by electrical wire only. My TB seems to resonate at about 1600 RPM's and about 50 mph. I don't feel it, I hear it. It sounds a like a faint rumble and lasts a very short time. Since I now have a new engine in my TB, I'll see if it resonates at the same speed and RPM as before.

trek1420b: I've had this problem since about 1000 miles on my Envoy. I've had the dealer check it and "They couldn't reproduce it. The second time, he drove the truck with me in it and it never happened.

It happens around 50-60mph. I can't tell if it happens more frequently when there is an incline in the road or not, but it's only felt through the gas petal. It kind of annoying, and I feel there is something wrong. It almost as if something is loose, or issue with transmission. If you find anything out at your dealership, please post.

This weekend, I started getting the squealing noise coming from the front passenger wheel area.
It start squealing at about 10 miles an hour. I called the dealer and they want me to bring it in on Wednesday. If you find out what the problem is before I do, please let me know.

Also, the brake pedal seems to be going down futher before the brakes start to engage. have you noticed this? I have approx. 4,500 miles on the Envoy.

My husband said that it sounds like a brake sensor, but he said that the brakes shouldn't be worn enough to activate the sensors yet.

I have a LT TB that also had a roof rattle that was due to a loose rubber mount on the luggage rack. It was located at the front passenger side and I would hear it at about 50mph as it would flap in the wind against the roof, extrememly annoying. The dealer has fixed it and no problems since. Now what about the "loose" front bumber syndrome????

After 4 happy months with my Yukon, my wife seems to want an SUV also. She currently drives an older Camry. Anyone compared the Envoy and Bravada back to back? I like the looks of the Bravada and I like the dash better than the Envoy. That said, the Envoy is a little less expensive.

Other trucks in the running are the Pathfinder and the Explorer, though I am a little weary of Ford products these days. Unfortunately the Mountaineer is not sold in Canada so it's not an option.

Sostrouble, I started experiencing a high-pitched squeal in the right front of my Trailblazer LT last week. It has 5000 miles and the problem just started. It only occurs when the car is warmed up and speed is above 25 mph. Dealer rode with me today; said it doesn't seem to be a wheel bearing or brake, but he couldn't diagnose it without having it in the shop to check it over. It doesn't seem to be wind-related, isn't a belt, and isn't in the roof rack, windshield or sunroof. I'd also like to hear if anyone has experienced this problem or discovered the cause/cure. Otherwise, we love our LT. Mileage progressively improving to around 19 mpg hwy.

I was glad to hear I am not alone and just hearing and feeling things. I haven't paid attention to the exact speed or rpm but I believe the speed is usually in the 60's. I will pay more attention to it next time.

I would describe the vibration similar to driving over those "wake up" grooves on the shoulder of the interstate, but on a much smaller scale, like driving over some tiny ones.

I will certainly post what I find out after my next visit to the dealer.

I noticed some posts from newer owners talking about the occasional excessive engine noise at start up. This was a discussion early on in May or so. I do believe this is a normal situation but I don't recall the reason. I do not notice this happening as much now.
  • sostroublesostrouble Member Posts: 65
Since it is not the brakes, could it have anything to do with this recall on the Power Train Transfer Case? When I called the dealer today, he didn't even know about this recall. He told me to bring a copy of it in. So I printed it off the NHTSA. Why don't the dealers know about these recalls before we do?

I have a '97 Bravada that I recently replaced the four OEM Muchelin XW4's with Michelin Cross Terrain tires, size 235/70-15, since I had good luck with the last set of tires and I was suckered by the marketing pitch. Ever since then, I have had a vibration similar to what trek1420b describes. I have had the tires spin balanced on the best machine I could find, at the Olds dealer, and I had the tires checked for out-of-round, making sure the high spots of the tire and any high spots on the rims did not coincide.

Before the tire replacement, the highway ride was smooth.

I had both front and rear driveshafts checked for balance, and I swapped in a new replacement tire, but the pesky vibration remains (from 65-75 mph). I remember the tire technician commenting the Cross-Terrain sidewalls were quite stiff, with very little give. My only guess is an internal defect or the design of the angled thread blocks...?

    Just some food for thought.

I am looking for rubber floor mats for my TB with winter approaching. I had seen some postings for mats at mats.com.
How do you like the mats?
How do they compare to the GM mats you can buy from gmpartsdirect.com?
The GM mats are actually a little cheaper, but are they better?

I looked at both and test drove both. I ended up with the Envoy. In my OPINION...

Envoy Pluses: 2-tone leather (SLT), headlamp washers, better looking center of dash (air vents etc), better (more truck looking) front end, selectable 4 wheel drive/all wheel/ etc.

Bravada Pluses: AWD all the time (better for urban commuter), Bonneville looking front end (if you like that), almost all options are standard, 5 year/ 60k mile warranty.

The squealing noise (right front wheel area, over 25 MPH) seems to of gone away with the wet weather, the dealer is unable to reproduce the noise and can find nothing wrong with the vehicle. He wants me to monitor the truck for the noise, the mechanic suspects a dry seal.

I have over 15,000 miles on the Envoy now with really no problems at all except for this squeal.

The brakes seem as they always have to be a little mushy and lower than you might expect, but I have never had a problem with them.

I may try a different dealer when the squeal comes back, if anyone else has this problem please post a message.

I posted here a few weeks ago about the problem with the paint chipping on the rear tailgate around the big plastic license plate holder. It was both comforting and discomforting to know that others have had the same experience.

The vehicle has since been in the shop twice for this problem. In both cases, the problem reappeared. The first time, I think the paint job itself was just poor, because it peeled off within a week. The second time, I noticed the problem wasn't fixed right when they drove it up, even though they properly said they stripped, sanded and reapplied to the entire liftgate (it's a black car, so at least it matches). I'm beginning to think that no matter what they do, that plastic piece is just going to continue rubbing and pushing on that paint with the road vibration and continue the problem.

It doesn't help that I can never speak to anyone at my particular dealer and that they never seem to return phone calls. I'm wondering if it's worth it to call GM's national customer support and speak to a "specialist". Given that I've heard of people reporting this problem for four months and I've noticed it on almost every single TB I've taken a peek at, GM should have a fix by now (operative word being 'should').
  • agentelevenagenteleven Member Posts: 95
I'm with you, hrunting... I think GM ought to hear from us about it.

I have not let my dealer repaint my TB liftgate yet, because I feel the problem would reappear. I firmly feel that a gasket is necessary to keep the problem from reoccuring.

I really don't think my complaints go beyond the guy that writes up my service order.

All the contact info is available at chevy.com. Have your VIN ready. Let's raise some heck about this.

I, too, have noticed a squealing (at times it sounds like a high-pitched chirping sound) which seems to come from the front end. It occurs between 20 and 55 mph and does not appear to be related to the type of road surface nor does it seem to be a function of tire speed - in other words, an increase in tire speed does not result in an increase in chirping frequency. It's very intermittent and it always goes away after I've washed the truck. 2002 Trailblazer LTZ with approximately 7500 miles on it.
  • finally2finally2 Member Posts: 10
Hi~ Yes I would agree with the vibration and Flyersrule has it pegged about 50 - 55 MPH and it was "definetly" a vibration and it was consistent. Your not nuts it is there~...I can say though that I have not felt the vibration in the past few weeks.. I am at about 1300 miles now ( and to the gas mileage discussion folks I am only at 15 mpg still :() but the vibration has not been as "apparent" as it was so either I have "gotten accustomed" to it or it has gone away.. I believe it has gone away but I am going to test some cruising at that speed and see if I can recreate still.

There is definetly something funny with the trany on the truck.. it is unpredictable and very inconsistent to kick into gear..

Bobmn... where does one find the techinical service bulletin you are referring to?

I do however still love this truck~ it is awesome! Though I did find double stick tape (which is unsticking) holding the molding on the back by the rear lift window.. Shouldn't there be something more than "tape" on a vehicle like this.. "She" deserves a little better than tape..... :)

With 600 miles on my LTZ Trailblazer, these are my observations and feelings.
    * Seems like the transmission is not too smooth, but I'll give it a little time to break in. Also the TB is not as quiet as I thought from a dead stop. (May be related to the transmission shifting).
    * With all doors and windows closed, you still can get a good sound of passing cars. Almost like the window seals are not doing their job.
    * Trek1420b (message #2532) mentioned "jiggling of left side mirror", I have the same problem. The drivers side shakes just enough to annoy you. The passenger side is fine.
    * I'm glad I got the Bose upgrade. It rocks!
    * Not really checking milage at this time, but will report back on it when I have a couple thousands on it. (3.73 ratio)
    * Closing either the back window or tailgate, cheap sound.
    * getting compliments and lookers as I drive past. One rubbernecker was actually driving a Jaguar!

Really can't complain much at this point,
satisfied with the TB and initial performance.

finally2: Yes, I do have it pegged - I can almost always reproduce it. It has gotten better. The first night I had the car, it was very noticeable, now it is much subtler.

The second weekend after I had my car, I was at the dealership to pick up some paper work. I went and talked to the service guy on duty. He said it sounded strange and nobody else had said anything about it. He took a quick walk around the car and under the hood. He said that vibrations are usually a symptom of tires or engine RPMs. First, he said that it could be the tires out of balance. He checked that all of the weights were still on the tires. He said that if it were tired related, it would usually always be at the same speed. If it was RPM based, I should be able to downshift when the vibrations were happening and it should go away, while my speed would stay the same. I did try that, and the RPM's did go away. But what is strange about the RPM's, the vibrations only happen in the 51 to 55 mph and at 1900 or so RPM's. I cannot reproduce the vibration at any other RPM's. Very strange!

finally2: Thank you for say this: "There is definitely something funny with the trany on the truck.. it is unpredictable and very inconsistent to kick into gear.." Once again I thought it was me. It is very hard to describe what it feels like, much less be able to explain to the service guy what exactly is the problem. Especially in the morning when it is still cold. Takes forever to shift and seems like it might not get up enough power to get up to speed. Just doesn't seem totally right! Very strange!

I am gettting 17.6-17.8 mpg after 1100 miles, with the 3.73 axle.

I still love the truck, just hope they figure out the little things that can drive you crazy!

I have a 1998 Bravada with 49,000 miles. It has been pretty good up to this point. I had some problems with the key getting stuck in the ignition and turning the key once in the ignition. This was repaired about 6 months ago.

This weekend I had problems with my Bravada stalling out on the highway. The car bucked a little and a few seconds later the battery light came on, after pulling over to the break down lane and slowing down, eventually the steering wheel locked up and the brakes locked. It was like the car shut off and you pulled the key out of the ignition. This happened four times within a matter of miles as I tried to get off the highway.

I brought it in and the dealer found nothing wrong and could not replicate the problem.

Anyone have anything similar happen? My best guess is the ignition switch.

Thanks, zecgoetz, mfullmer and fordnightmare on the input. I guess I should have mentioned that the Pontiac dealer who refused to work on my car was also a GMC dealer. Got a card from the Olds dealer that I had to take it to asking if I was "satisfied". Bolstered by the messages here that I wasn't out of line, I called and wound up speaking to the general Mgr. for the dealership.

He said *every* GMC dealer is suppose to work on the triplets. For those who haven't had to take their car in yet, maybe something to keep in mind. But he didn't sound like he was surprised that the one near me wouldn't. Time to write GM/Olds in Detroit??? Think it would do any good or just another waste of time?

Anyway, he apologized profusely for the mileage put on my car while it was in for the "service engine soon" light (said 70 miles was "excessive")and the oil sprayed on the exterior of passenger side. Asked if I had already washed it (of course, I had) then, insisted I bring it in for a polish, although I'm not sure what that means. Said it would make him feel much better.

I do have a Chevy dealership also not too far...still within walking distance although it would be a long, long walk. Don't know why I didn't even think of taking the Bravada there. Maybe I'll try them next time and see if they pull the same crap the GMC dealer did.

I bought an Envoy 2 weeks ago, still getting accustomed to it right now. Am looking for accessories (I've already checked the Accessories thread here). I've also checked the www.gmgoodwrench.com site (a joke, doesn't even mention the Envoy yet much less have accessories for it)

Floor mats - purchased the WeatherTech from www.accessconnect.com, pleased with the design but the fit leaves a good deal to be desired.

Mud flaps - can't find, would like them designed for the Envoy/TB and preferably before the snow hits, any suggestions?

Hood Bug Deflectors - called Lund, not yet available for the Envoy, no ETA yet but they are working on it.

Sunroof Wind deflector - Sunroof opening is 32 1/4" wide but deflector must not be wider than 39" at widest point. Stick on preferable, shouldn't be too hard to find.

Cargo Mat - Ordered from WeatherTech but not arrived yet, will update.

Please let us know if you've found a source for these accessories. TIA

Well after testing both the Bravada and the Envoy, we went with the Bravada. It's a dark blue 4X4 with black leather. What a beauty! We pick it up on Friday. I am very excited even though I will not be the primary driver.

In the end my wife liked the interior of the Bravada better than the Envoy. I prefer the exterior looks of the Envoy, but the Bravada has a more understated look which seem to please my wife also.

I have a 2002 Envoy and have found the Lund Bug Deflector for mine. My local aftermarket parts dealer is carrying them.

I recently took my Trailblazer back for the same thing. We walked around the lot and every Trailblazer had the same chipping. After talking to the Body Shop manager, he brought this subject up in their Manager's meeting trying to get direction on how to fix the problem the right way.

    He gave me two options:

    1. He could pop that piece off, smooth the edges, repaint the liftgate, then bolt the piece back on. However, he feared the same thing may still happen.

    2. Wait for GM to provide information on the right way to fix it. He suggested they may issue a new piece to bolt onto the liftgate.

I chose to wait. He said he would contact me when he gets direction from GM. I'll keep you posted.

I called the 1-800 number on Chevrolet's web site yesterday... I spoke to a person there that took some information from me about my TB and said she was going to call my dealer and try to get information about what they've seen. She also said she was going to do some research about the problem and get back with me.

She indicated that the only real way that GM can identify problems is through the dealer or through customers. Obviously, the dealer doesn't always report back to GM, so it's in our best interest to call the manufacturer and voice our concerns. DON'T leave it up to the dealer.
