So is the GMC Envoy the same setup. Do I have to have the front seats forward by 2 3 inches if I want to have the rear seats folded down? Okay case, do the Envoy’s rear seat cushions remove?
Botom line can I fold the rear seat down without moving the drivers seat forward in an Envoy?
Thanks, it’ll save me a trip to a dealer.
Unfortunately, I have found in my Bravada that not only do the front seats have to be moved fairly far forward but the rear console digs into the leather in the middle portion which no doubt will become a problem if you leave them down too long. It also is never completely flat.
Oh well, at least we have the other great aspects of the vehcile.

Is there anyone out there that does quality work anymore, or do I just not have reasonable expectations?
Anyone with knowledge on this experience?
Also, the noise goes away after driving for about 30 minutes.
From TB and Envoy info books.
So I waited till I went through a couple of full tanks. The light never went off; the car still acted great. Figured it was a computer screw-up..pollution type stuff. But, I realized that if I didn't have the "proper authorities" check it out, it could invalidate my warranty.
I was assured that every GM dealer would service my car. The Olds web site said it, the guy that sold me the car said it. It HAS been 4 months since I bought the car...like I said, I don't drive that much. When I went in to the Pontiac dealer that is within walking distance of where I live, he refused to touch the car......
I took it to an authorized Olds dealer. It is hard for me.....very bad neighborhood and can't walk home or go anywhere.
Since there are only 2 OLDs dealers in this entire city--city over 3 million....I took it to the dealership that was the closest.
I took my car in, it had to be left. The next day, they still couldn't figure out the problem. The service mgr. said they would have to drive it. My husband said OK. I was given a rental from a rental car company.
Third day, it was fixed. As I suspected, it was just a computer glitch. They couldn't fix it until they called the Olds rep who told them that they had to reprogram the computer....apparently, it wasn't yet a TSB.
I had to fill up the gas tank on the rental....$4.25...when I returned it. When I saw the actual mileage that I drove, I realized that I was way too generous. Not knowing how the gauges worked, I filled it to full just like when I got the car. I drove 30 miles in the rental. Hmmm.
I got my girl back. She's OK but was covered with oil .......like if somebody had taken an aersol can of cooking oil and sprayed it all over the passenger side of the car. The car had been driven 70 miles in 2 days.
This is my first car in 16 years. What are the rules now? My husband gave permission to drive the car to see what the problem is. When I went to pick up the car, the service mgr. told me how he had never had the opportunity to drive a 2002 Bravada before. He loved it.
My husband says "hey, better at his house than in the lot in that neighborhood." I said, no problem, but isn't this something that I should be asked about and agree to?
I can't complain to the dealership because I don't think I have anything to complain about. Or do I? Is 70 miles normal, minimum, excessive to drive a car to duplicate the problems the driver experiences?
The only 2 Olds dealerships left in this city require you to drop off the car before 8 AM. I can't possibly do that. I have a Chevrolet Dealer, a Pontiac dealer and lots of foreign car dealers. I love my Bravada, but I'm tired of fighting corporate crap.
Years ago, I spent hours writing letters asking our city council to re-evaluate their decision to put in a 3 story, densely populated apartment complex. It is being built. No problem. I will never spend my time again in efforts that I, essentially had no impact over.
So, fellow tripleters, is this something worth writing GM about? Do I have a legitimate complaint?
I have a new 02 Bravada also. I am very pleased with the features of the truck, but the attention given to the details of design, engineering and production leave much to be desired. I won't get into the frustration I've had with my dealer. Be thankful you have a 60 month/60,000 mile warranty.
I am not sorry I purchased it, but I thought that GM would have come alot further than it has. This is why Consumer Reports continues to downgrade new GM vehicles even when the innovative Bravada and its sisters are introduced.
Pontiac and Buick dealerships do not sell a similar vehicle so their technicians are not going to be familiar with it nor are they going to have the parts you need.
I have taken my Bravada to both the dealership where I purchased it and a closer GMC dealership and have had no problems. (With them willing to work on it. Now why these guys seem to want to put their dirty, greasy hands all over the interior of the vehicle is another story!)
My truck was just delivered this week, and I think it was worth the wait. I was concerned with a lot of the problems that I've been reading, and I think GM has been doing a good job of addressing the issues.
The metal bar in the back seat has been redesigned and is no longer an issue.
The ride quality is just great. I don't know what the problem was with the 2wd truck that Edmunds bitched about. I spent the day driving over 200 miles on a mix of highway (70+ MPH) and twisty back roads, and the more I drove it, the more impressed I was.
The transmission is so smooth. You don't even notice it shifting.
The brakes work great.
I don't think the wind noise is bad at all. The dealer already had the roof rack slid back when I picked up the truck.
I have the 3.42 gears and the computer has averaged 18.2 MPG. It was at 16+ when I left this morning, and increased throughout the trip. I did spend maybe 60-70 percent of the time on the highway, but I also spent the rest of the time in rural areas with hilly roads and intermitant stop lights, stopping several times along the way.
The 4.10 rear probably is a little quicker from a stop, but the 3.42 feels plenty fast. I was more concerned with the fuel economy, and at 70 MPH the engine is only turning around 1900 RPMs.
I haven't noticed any problems with fit and finish.
The Bose six disk in dash CD sounds great. It's not very intuitive, but once you learn how things work, it's not that bad.
Mine did come with the rear cargo mat.
It was no suprise to me that MotorTrend selected the Envoy as SUV of the Year, and I would certainly recommend it to anyone considering a new SUV.
I am taking it in to have the left side mirror replaced since I have a very slight intermitent jiggling of the mirror. I am going to ask about the vibration but will be surprised if they know of anything to do. I experience this on smooth roads and have the radio off. I have noticed with the Bose radio playing music with a lot of bass that you seem to get a similar vibration.
Has anyone added a lock to the spare tire? If so, what do you recommend?
Can anyone provide more details one what changes when choosing the Bose stereo option over the factory default. Are the speakers different along with a more powerful amp? The brochure for the Olds Bravada provides no useful details. Any good description someone can point me to?
Thanks,
Tom
imototo, you're not out of line, just long winded.
tt66: read about the Bose here...seems to be a pretty good description. BTW: the Bose in the triplets is MUCH better than the Bose in the Infinity QX4 and Acura MDX that I tested. I highly recommend it.

It is very predictable. It usually happens at 51 miles an hour and the RPMS are at around 1900. It persists through 55 miles an hour.
I am very concerned about it. I do not feel that this is a normal thing and something that a $36000 truck should have. I have not taken it in, but will at my first oil change.
Additionally, it seems that the area where my feet rest, I feel a lot of vibrations from driving. Is it me or are other people experiencing the same thing?
I also noticed that the black weather-stripping around the windows seams to be fading. I remember somebody else saying something about this. What is the best product to put on it?
Beside that and the fact that my left mirror never seems to be in exactly the same place, I love this truck. Just hope I can get the vibration thing resolved, without the dealer saying, "they can't reproduce it, or that is the way it works!)
If anybody else has had this problem, and has taken it to the dealer, please share any feedback.
It happens around 50-60mph. I can't tell if it happens more frequently when there is an incline in the road or not, but it's only felt through the gas petal. It kind of annoying, and I feel there is something wrong. It almost as if something is loose, or issue with transmission. If you find anything out at your dealership, please post.
It start squealing at about 10 miles an hour. I called the dealer and they want me to bring it in on Wednesday. If you find out what the problem is before I do, please let me know.
Also, the brake pedal seems to be going down futher before the brakes start to engage. have you noticed this? I have approx. 4,500 miles on the Envoy.
My husband said that it sounds like a brake sensor, but he said that the brakes shouldn't be worn enough to activate the sensors yet.
I have a LT TB that also had a roof rattle that was due to a loose rubber mount on the luggage rack. It was located at the front passenger side and I would hear it at about 50mph as it would flap in the wind against the roof, extrememly annoying. The dealer has fixed it and no problems since. Now what about the "loose" front bumber syndrome????
Other trucks in the running are the Pathfinder and the Explorer, though I am a little weary of Ford products these days. Unfortunately the Mountaineer is not sold in Canada so it's not an option.
I would describe the vibration similar to driving over those "wake up" grooves on the shoulder of the interstate, but on a much smaller scale, like driving over some tiny ones.
I will certainly post what I find out after my next visit to the dealer.
I noticed some posts from newer owners talking about the occasional excessive engine noise at start up. This was a discussion early on in May or so. I do believe this is a normal situation but I don't recall the reason. I do not notice this happening as much now.
Before the tire replacement, the highway ride was smooth.
I had both front and rear driveshafts checked for balance, and I swapped in a new replacement tire, but the pesky vibration remains (from 65-75 mph). I remember the tire technician commenting the Cross-Terrain sidewalls were quite stiff, with very little give. My only guess is an internal defect or the design of the angled thread blocks...?
Just some food for thought.
Thanks
How do you like the mats?
How do they compare to the GM mats you can buy from gmpartsdirect.com?
The GM mats are actually a little cheaper, but are they better?
Envoy Pluses: 2-tone leather (SLT), headlamp washers, better looking center of dash (air vents etc), better (more truck looking) front end, selectable 4 wheel drive/all wheel/ etc.
Bravada Pluses: AWD all the time (better for urban commuter), Bonneville looking front end (if you like that), almost all options are standard, 5 year/ 60k mile warranty.
I have over 15,000 miles on the Envoy now with really no problems at all except for this squeal.
The brakes seem as they always have to be a little mushy and lower than you might expect, but I have never had a problem with them.
I may try a different dealer when the squeal comes back, if anyone else has this problem please post a message.
The vehicle has since been in the shop twice for this problem. In both cases, the problem reappeared. The first time, I think the paint job itself was just poor, because it peeled off within a week. The second time, I noticed the problem wasn't fixed right when they drove it up, even though they properly said they stripped, sanded and reapplied to the entire liftgate (it's a black car, so at least it matches). I'm beginning to think that no matter what they do, that plastic piece is just going to continue rubbing and pushing on that paint with the road vibration and continue the problem.
It doesn't help that I can never speak to anyone at my particular dealer and that they never seem to return phone calls. I'm wondering if it's worth it to call GM's national customer support and speak to a "specialist". Given that I've heard of people reporting this problem for four months and I've noticed it on almost every single TB I've taken a peek at, GM should have a fix by now (operative word being 'should').
I have not let my dealer repaint my TB liftgate yet, because I feel the problem would reappear. I firmly feel that a gasket is necessary to keep the problem from reoccuring.
I really don't think my complaints go beyond the guy that writes up my service order.
All the contact info is available at chevy.com. Have your VIN ready. Let's raise some heck about this.
There is definetly something funny with the trany on the truck.. it is unpredictable and very inconsistent to kick into gear..
Bobmn... where does one find the techinical service bulletin you are referring to?
I do however still love this truck~ it is awesome! Though I did find double stick tape (which is unsticking) holding the molding on the back by the rear lift window.. Shouldn't there be something more than "tape" on a vehicle like this.. "She" deserves a little better than tape.....
* Seems like the transmission is not too smooth, but I'll give it a little time to break in. Also the TB is not as quiet as I thought from a dead stop. (May be related to the transmission shifting).
* With all doors and windows closed, you still can get a good sound of passing cars. Almost like the window seals are not doing their job.
* Trek1420b (message #2532) mentioned "jiggling of left side mirror", I have the same problem. The drivers side shakes just enough to annoy you. The passenger side is fine.
* I'm glad I got the Bose upgrade. It rocks!
* Not really checking milage at this time, but will report back on it when I have a couple thousands on it. (3.73 ratio)
* Closing either the back window or tailgate, cheap sound.
* getting compliments and lookers as I drive past. One rubbernecker was actually driving a Jaguar!
Really can't complain much at this point,
satisfied with the TB and initial performance.
The second weekend after I had my car, I was at the dealership to pick up some paper work. I went and talked to the service guy on duty. He said it sounded strange and nobody else had said anything about it. He took a quick walk around the car and under the hood. He said that vibrations are usually a symptom of tires or engine RPMs. First, he said that it could be the tires out of balance. He checked that all of the weights were still on the tires. He said that if it were tired related, it would usually always be at the same speed. If it was RPM based, I should be able to downshift when the vibrations were happening and it should go away, while my speed would stay the same. I did try that, and the RPM's did go away. But what is strange about the RPM's, the vibrations only happen in the 51 to 55 mph and at 1900 or so RPM's. I cannot reproduce the vibration at any other RPM's. Very strange!
finally2: Thank you for say this: "There is definitely something funny with the trany on the truck.. it is unpredictable and very inconsistent to kick into gear.." Once again I thought it was me. It is very hard to describe what it feels like, much less be able to explain to the service guy what exactly is the problem. Especially in the morning when it is still cold. Takes forever to shift and seems like it might not get up enough power to get up to speed. Just doesn't seem totally right! Very strange!
I am gettting 17.6-17.8 mpg after 1100 miles, with the 3.73 axle.
I still love the truck, just hope they figure out the little things that can drive you crazy!
This weekend I had problems with my Bravada stalling out on the highway. The car bucked a little and a few seconds later the battery light came on, after pulling over to the break down lane and slowing down, eventually the steering wheel locked up and the brakes locked. It was like the car shut off and you pulled the key out of the ignition. This happened four times within a matter of miles as I tried to get off the highway.
I brought it in and the dealer found nothing wrong and could not replicate the problem.
Anyone have anything similar happen? My best guess is the ignition switch.
He said *every* GMC dealer is suppose to work on the triplets. For those who haven't had to take their car in yet, maybe something to keep in mind. But he didn't sound like he was surprised that the one near me wouldn't. Time to write GM/Olds in Detroit??? Think it would do any good or just another waste of time?
Anyway, he apologized profusely for the mileage put on my car while it was in for the "service engine soon" light (said 70 miles was "excessive")and the oil sprayed on the exterior of passenger side. Asked if I had already washed it (of course, I had) then, insisted I bring it in for a polish, although I'm not sure what that means. Said it would make him feel much better.
I do have a Chevy dealership also not too far...still within walking distance although it would be a long, long walk. Don't know why I didn't even think of taking the Bravada there. Maybe I'll try them next time and see if they pull the same crap the GMC dealer did.
Floor mats - purchased the WeatherTech from www.accessconnect.com, pleased with the design but the fit leaves a good deal to be desired.
Mud flaps - can't find, would like them designed for the Envoy/TB and preferably before the snow hits, any suggestions?
Hood Bug Deflectors - called Lund, not yet available for the Envoy, no ETA yet but they are working on it.
Sunroof Wind deflector - Sunroof opening is 32 1/4" wide but deflector must not be wider than 39" at widest point. Stick on preferable, shouldn't be too hard to find.
Cargo Mat - Ordered from WeatherTech but not arrived yet, will update.
Please let us know if you've found a source for these accessories. TIA
In the end my wife liked the interior of the Bravada better than the Envoy. I prefer the exterior looks of the Envoy, but the Bravada has a more understated look which seem to please my wife also.
He gave me two options:
1. He could pop that piece off, smooth the edges, repaint the liftgate, then bolt the piece back on. However, he feared the same thing may still happen.
2. Wait for GM to provide information on the right way to fix it. He suggested they may issue a new piece to bolt onto the liftgate.
I chose to wait. He said he would contact me when he gets direction from GM. I'll keep you posted.
She indicated that the only real way that GM can identify problems is through the dealer or through customers. Obviously, the dealer doesn't always report back to GM, so it's in our best interest to call the manufacturer and voice our concerns. DON'T leave it up to the dealer.
