pbshann, they probably weren't just blowing you off. They probably called GM and GM told them that the problem is NOT a problem to them and they shouldn't do anything about it.

Your service writer is probably not willing to tell you that they're not going to do anything about it and hopes that you'll forget.

I'd suggest talking to the service manager or director and have them tell you personally what they've been told by GM. I'd bet he'll fess up and say you're going to have to live with it.

It's such a minor thing to GM that I don't think they'll do anything abou it. Makes me want to go to the GMC dealer and stand by the Envoys and point the problem to prospective buyers so they can decide for themselves BEFORE they buy if they're willing to live with it.

Just got the car washed today, and low and behold it happened to me too! I only had the vehicle three weeks!

Just ordered a TB last week, and my salesman said I could call him for the tracking number. After I get it, is there a website where I can check the status, or do I have to call someone?

    Anyone know? Thanks!
  • vplazavplaza Member Posts: 47
Citizenpain35, I wonder if the sales side of GM can get something done about the paint problem since it's obvious that the service side can't.

I wonder what the sales manager or whatever say if you told them that you know that there is a defect on the car and that you're considering nto buying the vehicle.

Obviously, those of us who have the cars already are stuck with this until something drastic happens with GM, but those who haven't bought yet, hmmm, I wonder if pressure on the sales side would make someone take responsibility for the problem. Just curious.

Two months back I had an accident with my Trailblazer. I wall decied to jump out and scrape my car. Here are the pictures.

It has now been fixed and looks completly new (except for a leaking rear window which still needs to be fixed.)

I needed a new front door skin, a new read door and new rear quarter panel. Total cost was $4600. I felt sick as a dog when it happened.

The shop did a great job! Paint looks exactly the same as the original! And, everything seems tight and no noise!

Sorry to repost, but the paint problem posts pushed mine out of the way. Does anyone have part numbers/prices for the OEM molded mudguards for a 2002 TB?

PS I can't see any paint problem in the posted picture.
  • vplazavplaza Member Posts: 47
    icojones,

Not sure which picture you were looking at and did not see the problem. I posted a link to a Yahoo photo album that has 7 shots of the rear of my black Envoy. I took close up shots of the plastic moulding on the rear door showing light colored areas around the moulding where the paint has been scraped off.

The pictures aren't crystal clear but should give you an idea what the problem is. Photo #7 is probably the best shot, showing a close up view of the left (driver side) of the moulding and a long gray strip.

Vplaza's pictures finally explain things to me. My Envoy is pewter and if there is anything there, it is simply not of concern to me. However, for those of you who have a dark color I can understand. Here is what I would do to fix it or have it done: Get a piece of fender welting used on old MG's or even American cars - vintage 50's. Remove the plastic surround, put the welting on and reattach the surround. There is your gasket. You can get the stuff at some auto supply stores and I have even made it up using a nylon cord with color matched vinyl sewed on over the cord. Upholstery shop could probably fix you up.

I'm goint to remove my license surround and install some generic automotive weatherstripping (like what goes betwee the fenderand the body on the old VW Beetle).

It should look like it was meant to be ther, will prevent chafing, and should prevent rust.

When you shut the lift gate, the surround moves and chafes the liftgate.

Has anyone else experienced any problems with their driver seat in the TB. I have the power, heated memory seat and it just stopped functioning. Just before this happened I was trying to connect to setup OnStar for the first time (which now won't connect anymore either) as it is a brand new vehicle and it failed. Seems unlikely that this is related (probably just a coincidence) but any info would be appreciated. The TB is going into the dealer on Monday for a look.

Well for those that have responded with problems with the transmission/fan noise at highway speeds this is the down and dirty of the problem that was found on my Envoy. On the last visit to the service department the service tech found some slip codes on the computer and the transmission was running hot. The tranny fluid had a burnt smell that was unusual on a new car. GM asked them to send the tranny to them at first and they sent a new transmission to replace mine. GM then called the service department back and told them that they had already received 15 other transmissions (WOW!) and they asked them to disassemble the old tranny to diagnose the problem. When they opened the tranny up they found metal fragments and the 2 and 4 bands were burnt along with the input drum and pump. They returned the Envoy to me yesterday and the new tranny seems to have fixed the problem. It actually drives better than when I first got it - or it may be that it has been messed up for so long that I forgot how it was supposed to drive. I hope this info helps for others that have complained about the fan noise/and high RPM's with decreased power. By the way, the fan noise with this problem occurs because it kicks on due to the increase in tranny temp.

After purchasing my 2002 TrailBlazer I have had several safety issues with the vehicle's transmission and have taken the following action (Posted below)I will keep you all updated when GM and Danvers Chevrolet remedy the problem....

    General Motors Corporation
Attn: Gary Cowger, President of GM North America
    P.O. Box 33170
    Detroit, MI 48232-5170

    Danvers Chevrolet, Buick, Pontiac
    Attn: President
    90 Andover Street, Rte 114
    Danvers, MA 01923

    Dear Gary:
I am writing you because I feel the 2002 Chevrolet TrailBlazer has some “Life Threatening” mechanical design defects that need to be fixed before someone gets killed. I recently purchased a 2002 TrailBlazer LT vin#(Omitted for privacy) from Danvers Chevrolet, Buick, Pontiac located at 90 Andover Street, Danvers, MA 01923. Within our first week of owning the vehicle while it was parked and running in my driveway the 4 Wheel Driver Selector Switch started to cycle through it’s various indicator lights on its own and the “Service 4 Wheel Drive” indicator light on the dash came on. While this occurred the engine started to idle roughly. I dismissed this as an anomaly and shut the vehicle off, restarted it, and the problem disappeared. I had my wife take the vehicle into the dealer mentioned above to have service investigate what happened and they returned the vehicle saying that they had found and fixed a faulty switch located on the transfer case and the problem would not happen again. About few weeks later my wife was driving the vehicle and it did the same thing except this time it was in rush hour traffic and the vehicle made a loud sound and stopped in running traffic, on it’s own without my wife even touching the brake! She had to turn the car off in the middle of the road at the risk of being slammed into by another vehicle, re-start it and everything seemed to work fine. The next day she brought the car into the Danvers Chevrolet service department to have them investigate the transmission, service light, and selector switch problem again while she got an oil change and they said that they could not do anything because they could not duplicate the problem and to bring it in while the problem was happening in real time! (Service slip copy enclosed). This is crazy! Now I was driving the vehicle yesterday and it happened again while I was on the freeway. The lights all came on, the vehicle made itself stop on the freeway (Like someone had applied the parking brake) and a loud rubbing/grinding sound could be heard coming from underneath the truck. I happened to have a camera with me and I took several pictures of the dash indicators (Enclosed). I will be bringing in the vehicle to Danvers Chevrolet tomorrow for the third time. I have bought several new cars during my lifetime and none of them have been an American brand vehicle. I also have never had any problems with my other purchases (Toyota, Lexus, BMW, Porsche etc.). I must say that I am losing faith in an American car product and am doubting if I will ever own one again.

I am going to send a copy of this letter to the State of Massachusetts and post a copy of this letter on the website www.edmunds.com and various other automotive Internet boards to warn others about the Chevrolet TrailBlazer before they purchase this product. I will also post both Danvers Chevrolet’s and your company’s remedy to my problem on the same websites so that other consumers can see how your institution backs it’s product. I am willing to give General Motors and Danvers Chevrolet an second chance because it could be that I have just purchase that one Lemon out of the whole lot. I want the truck taken out of service and I want a new, identical replacement vehicle. Only if I run into the same quality issues with the second vehicle will I request a 100% refund and buy another manufacturers brand Sport Utility Vehicle.

In summary, I believe that my car is a "lemon" under the Massachusetts Lemon Law (Massachusetts General Laws; c. 90 Sec. 7N1/2). I am hereby making a written demand for relief under the Lemon Law and the Massachusetts Consumer Protection Act (Massachusetts General Laws, c. 93A, Sec.9).
I purchased a Chevrolet, TrailBlazer LT, 2002 on 09/27/2001 from Danvers Chevrolet, Buick, Pontiac in Danvers, Massachusetts. The vehicle identification number or VIN number is (1GNDT13S122176212). Since I bought the vehicle, I have had to return it to the dealership a total of 3 times. My vehicle has been out of service for repairs for a total of 1.5 business days. My vehicle has been in Danvers Chevrolet, Buick, Pontiac for repairs on the following dates for repair of the following defects:

October 2001 – Transmission light problem, grinding etc.
December 2001 – Transmission light problem, grinding etc.
January 2001 – Transmission light problem, grinding etc.

I am having the following problems with my vehicle at this time:

*4 Wheel Driver Selector Switch cycles through lights on its own
*Service 4 Wheel Driver indicator on dash comes on
    *Vehicle transmission emits grinding/rubbing noise
*Vehicle stops to grinding halt on its own at random

These remaining defects substantially impair the use, market value or safety of my vehicle. I am entitled to a replacement vehicle acceptable to me or a refund calculated in accordance with the Lemon Law. Failure to comply with the Lemon Law is a violation of Massachusetts General Laws, c. 93A, and you may be subject to double or treble damages as well as attorney’s fees and court costs if this matter is taken to court. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

    Sincerely,

    Concerned consumer

Do you by chance have any pictures of your Bravada with the mud guards on that you could post or email?
  • flyersruleflyersrule Member Posts: 47
    Wow.

That is totally an unsafe situation. Stopping dead in traffic - thank god you didn't get re-ended and you safely made it to the side.

I have to believe that you got a lemon and this is not a characteristic of all the Trailblazer (hope so, for all our sakes!)

Yours is the first post of this type of problem that has been posted to this board.

Good luck and please keep us up to date.

Where is the sub woofer located with the bose system?

And, with the DVD entertainment system, can you listen to the DVD's through the bose stereo system, or does it only play though the head phones?

I found message #3331, brownmorgan1, interesting in light of a recent experience I had. I have a 2002 GMC Envoy with 1000 miles on it. Recently shortly after entering an interstate highway and reaching 70 mph, I felt a clunk like a transmission shift, looked down to see the automatic transfer case switch was flashing like it had been switched into Auto4WD although I had not touched the switch. Shortly it returned to the 2WD setting where I had originally set it. This happened several times, and then the thing settled down into the 2 WD setting and stayed there for the balance of a 1 1/2 hour trip. Road conditions were basically dry with occasion wet areas from melting snow along the side of the highway. Fortunately the vehicle did not stop. This was my first experience so back to the dealer. I will post follow-ups.

I looked at my Envoy again this morning and I do have a very small bit of the scraping problem. I figured out what is causing it. The Envoy sat in the garage overnight and when I opened the door this morning to look at the license surround, the sun started beating in on the cold deck lid. I could hear little snapping sounds as the surround apparently heated up and expanded more rapidly than the metal deck lid. Result: the surround moves and the deck lid does not. YOu would probably get similar effects from washing with cold water as this would cause the surround to contract more rapidly than the deck lid.

I happened to notice a Lincoln Navigator parked across the street. It has a similar (Chrome) license surround so I went over and looked at it. Sure enough it has a little rubber gasket between the surround and the deck lid. I'm not going to do anything yet, but if it gets bad, I'll do the fender welting thing.

I had the same problem with the LTZ driver's seat going dead. They replaced the control module for the driver's seat, and it has been fine ever since.

    Hi:
A dealer has the Envoy color I want in stock, except it has running boards already on it. Does the dealer put these on after arrival, or do they come installed from the factory? And how does their quality compare to aftermarket boards? Are they effective in providing paint protection from rocks? I would actually prefer stepbars, but I bet the running board affords more protection.

    Second question:
I saw one website (stylinconcepts.com) had large mudflaps (they actually called them "body guards") that were 16x10" and had no logo, but they also offered some styles they called "mud flaps" with logos that may not be quite as large. How easy is it for me, a neophyte, to attach my own mudflaps or mudguards? How exactly do these attach and which size is recommended?
    Thanks.
  • fletch45fletch45 Member Posts: 72
I have a TB, and I will tell you that the running boards fit perfectly, and are very solid. They were factory installed, and look pretty good. If you want protection from rock chips, you will need mud flaps too. Mine were $30 per pair from the Chevy dealer, and were simple to install. They look like they belong there, and they have a little white Chevy emblem on them (I have read on here that the ones for the Envoy have GMC on them).

Good luck with your new ride

I just got finished reading all 3300 posts on this forum, and this is my first post. I have been looking at the Bravada and Envoy for a few months now and can't decide which one to get. I like the outsides of both about the same, although I don't like the round back-up lights in the bumper of the Envoy and I think from certain angles it looks a little squatty compared to the Bravada. However, I think I really like the interior of the Envoy better. The Bravada is definitely nice, but I like the two-tone seats, chrome accents on the vents, gauges, and door handles, and I like the more use of wood in the Envoy (I know its fake, but to me nice fake wood looks better than black plastic).

Whichever one I get, it will more than likely be a fully loaded 2WD with the sunroof (not the DVD). The dealer I will buy from is both an Olds and GMC dealer and I am sure I can get the same deal on either one, so price is not an issue. What is swaying me right now is the 5/60 warranty on the Bravada. As I plan on keeping the vehicle at least 5 years, that extra warranty means a lot...especially as I have lots of experience when it comes to GM reliability. So right now I think I am leaning towards the Bravada. I really want a 4WD/AWD but I am stretching the budget as it is, and I just don't think I can swing the extra 2 grand, especially when I live in FL and it is really not a necessity.

What is really stopping me from ordering one of these beauties is the paint problem around the license plate frame. I had never even noticed this before the forum (like one poster said, it kind of looks like dust or wax in the groove), but after reading about it, I went to two dealerships and sure enough every single Envoy and Bravada had paint chipping. To me this is just unacceptable on a 35k+ vehicle. It is barely noticeable on the light colors, but of course I want Indigo, so I will be able to see it. This is one of those things that will eat at me every time I walk by the car and there is no excuse for it. GM should have either designed the mounting differently or engineered a simple gasket to prevent this. I don't understand how this got past design and testing, but what bothers me even more is that GM apparently doesn't even want to do anything about it. I have decided that I will not place an order for one of these vehicles until some fix or bulletin is released. It is a shame that the purchase of a vehicle comes down to such a little issue, but this (to me) is just plain unacceptable!

    - Wade

P.S...I thought it was interesting that I have been to 2 different Olds dealers and neither could believe I was looking at the Bravada instead of the Envoy. I am 21 and they figured someone my age wouldn't want to drive an Olds (their comment, not mine).
  • mgrcmmgrcm Member Posts: 53
If I were you I wouldn't worry about the little paint chipping around the rear license plate holder. That will be nothing compared to what will probally happen to it.Brought mine in twice for service.First time for dead battery they put a big scratch in the front bumper.Another time at another dealership I brought it in to have a new seal in the rear liftgate window, they scratched the rear bumper all up and got glue all over the place. Then with all the care in the world were I park my Indigo Envoy some clown opened there door as hard as they could and put a real nice dent in the side of my rear door.So I wish all I had to complain about was a little paint chipping around the rear license plate holder.Ohh I forgot about all the paint chipping going on the lower rear doors from the tires throwing rocks there and the flaps do nothing to stop this.

The olds comes with more standard features and that warranty is awesome! We went with the Aurora and have loved it ever since. I know what you mean about that Olds is for older people crap! The Dealership was the same way when I went up there (I'm only 25 by the way). We looked at the Bravada extensively and really enjoyed it. Alas though my Girlfriend wanted a car, so we got a great deal on an 01' Aurora 0% five years! Some things you will want to change on the Bravada. First, the suspension on the Bravada is quite "mushy" so you might want to look at Polyurethane bushings for the sway bars. Another thing line the license plate assembly with vinyl contact paper and that should solve that. That's about it enjoy your olds!

I have Trailblazer LT with the 16" rims. Recently, I was able to purchase a set of 17" rims from a Trailblazer LTZ. Does anyone know if there will be any speedometer/odometer problems with the truck after I install the new rims? Thanks. Chris
  • ducati11ducati11 Member Posts: 13
I know how you feel, I like the chrome and the wood in the Envoy, but the warranty is well worth it, and you usually get more options for the money. At the time we bought ours, it was a fair amount less expensive than an Envoy, similar equipped. We have only had two problems: the wandering mirrors, and the original control arm recall. It rides like a Buick Regal, and we like that. 17000 miles.

    ducati,

You're right...I thought the prices were closer than they are. For an Envoy and Bravada equipped the same, the Bravada MSRP is $34,620 and invoice is $31,290. The Envoy MSRP is $35,895 and invoice is $32,391. The only difference is that the Envoy definitely includes traction control at that price, and I am not sure what the status is on the Bravada. I thought it was supposed to be standard on the 2WD, but the one I test drove was a 2WD and did not have a traction control button like the 2WD Envoy I drove. Anyone know the story with the Olds and traction control???

I guess when you look at the $1,100-1,200 difference and the Bravada's better warranty, the decision is pretty much made. I just keep going back to the Envoy interior. Funny thing is, the first one of the triplets I sat in was the Envoy, and I wasn't impressed at first (it was a light pewter interior). Then I saw an Indigo Bravada with the camel interior and loved it--I didn't even think about the Envoy interior again. But, the other day I drove another Envoy that had the light oak interior and I liked it...I just need to forget I ever saw the Envoy :) I know it sounds like I am "settling" for the Bravada, but I really do love the vehicle. And while I think the Envoy interior is flashier, the Bravada really has more of a conservative understated look that will probably wear better with time. (Lets just hope it lasts...)

    Hey Gang,

After a short hiatus from this board, I returned to find well over 100+ post within a week and I can honestly say that I have sat here and read each and every one of them. I definitely applaud the effort that everyone puts into this board in order to help each other! Even though this isn't a truly "threaded" message board, it is still very helpful .

Well.. for starters, I am glad that someone posted a link to pics of this paint problem that we all have been hearing about. I've had my Envoy for almost 2 months and couldn't figure out what this paint thing was all about.. now I know and I find it somewhat appalling that GM will not do anything to address this problem?? It seems like we should take the time to type up a petition and use this board to "sign" the petition?? Or at least create a new Topic that would include the petition letter to GM and everyone can "sign" their responses to this memo so that we are not cluttering up this board? What do you all think about this?

Second, no serious problems to report with my Magnetic Red Metallic beauty (6,000 miles already!!) with the exception of ONE thing. I don't know if this is a wide-spread problem (or just me!) but I have noticed that in the mornings, when I start the Envoy... back out of the garage and put the vehicle in Drive, when first depressing the accelerator, the vehicle takes off somewhat slowly.. then the RPM's "kind of" rev up more and then pulls stronger? I've actually PUNCHED it a couple of times to see if this slight hesitation would cease? It reminds me of an older car with a lot of miles and you have to get it "good and warm" before you can get decent acceleration out of it? My father noticed this as well when he drives it when the engine is cold. Have you all experienced this problem?

Second, I have read a couple posting here concerning ON STAR failing on the triplets? Well, let me mention that I JUST got my On Star problem resolved last week and I activated it the next day after I bought the vehicle! My On Star system would sometimes fail to connect to the center, erroring with a message from Verizon Wireless "There is trouble with your On Star system, please hold while we route you to our customer service center" to which they were of NO HELP.. When I could reach On Star, they would not receive my data.. they would not have a clue as to whom they were speaking with? They couldn't remotely access the vehicle or pin-point my location! After much deliberation with ON Star (and numerous $$$ credits to my account) and a couple of overnight visits to several dealerships to correct the problem, the last servicing dealer replaced the VCU (or VCM) unit on my Envoy and this remedied the problem! When I dropped off my vehicle to the last servicing dealer, I told them that "I do not want this vehicle back until the problem with ON Star had been resolved." Well.. they had given me a rental car, but kept the vehicle for 5 days! Now that they have replaced this unit, the On Star system seems to function nicely, however the personal calling system is still not active, but they informed me to wait 24 to 48 hours so I will check again tomorrow.

Lastly, I feel sooo guilty about racking the miles up on my $38,420 Envoy that I have decided to get another car to use for "beating up." I finally said good-bye to my 2000 Ford Explorer Limited.. someone purchased it this past weakened!! I haven't decided yet, but I think that I am going to purchase a 2002 Pontiac Grand Am GT1 to complement the Envoy.. Maybe this way, I can use the Envoy when I want and use the Grand Am to rack up the miles! Anyone know of any decent Grand Am message boards? I cannot seem to find one on Edmunds! Go figure!! Ha, ha!

    Thanks Gang!

Well, about a month old Bravada, with less than 2000 miles. Went for a trip Saturday, about 300 miles. Outside temp over 50. No problem and no increased fan noise. Reached speeds of 90 when passing.

Sunday, went out to lunch, no problem.

Went out for an errand at about 6PM, outside temp about 50, and after a moment of driving, perhaps a half mile, the radiator cooling fan kicked on. Sure makes a lot of fan noise. Sounds like an 18 wheeler.

Drove my errand, even took it on the hiway, fan still running. Checked oil (bout a half quart low, added 5W30 but it was there when I picked it up new). Checked tranny fluid, nice and red, no weird smell, but not very hot either.

This morning, temp is about 30, and when I started it, sure enough, fan is on. No way it should be on when it is this cool.

I guess the thermostat in the fan clutch is kaput (at least I hope it's that easy).

I will take it in and update you when I find out more.

P.S. When I test drove a Chuvy Trailblazer it made this noise on a cold 20 degree morning. Turned me off immediately on continuing to look at that TB. Later test drive, different dealer, different TB, did not have the fan noise. Might be some vehicles have a bad fan clutch.

Had the same exact problem with my TB this past week. Turned out to be a pinched line or cable of some sort. Sorry I don't have more details, but I don't have the dealer's write-up sheet with me. Dealer fixed it quickly and said it wouldn't happen again. I hope he's right.

    Hello everyone

After months of test drives and brochures I have decided on a 2002 TB LS with the 1 SC package, white letter tires, and CD/CASSETTE radio. I should be taking delivery today or tomorrow and I can't wait. I have one question though, is teh paint issue color specific? Does it happen to the Summit White color as well?

Several of us have had the indicator lights show the vehicle to go into 4WD in spite of the switch being in 2WD... the fix was to have the dealer replace the switch. There's also a recall out to have the transmission control module reprogrammed, and a TSB that addresses the vehicle not downshifting properly... See next post regarding TSBs:

Thought I'd post the current list of TSBs from the NHTSA site for the newcomers. Some of these may or may not apply to the TB or Bravada...

Regarding the question about going from 16" to 17" wheels, I'd go to a dealer.
It's probably a matter of changing a chip somewhere or setting something in
    the computer.

I calculate a 3.5% speedometer error with just the inch increase on the rim alone.
so if you're speedometer reads 60, you'll actually be going 62.
It's not a whole lot, but I don't like having speedometer error on the slow side.

I don't what kind of tires you have on the 16's, but you'd really need to compare
them side by side or even compare the circumferences of them. The difference
could be more or less depending upon sidewall height of the tires. The 17's
    come with 245-65 's.

speedometer error% = (new tire circumference - original tire circumference) / original tire circumference X 100

I have a Blue LTZ that I have had for about 8 months. The mileage has been about 18.6 for most of the time, rising a littel towards the end, but then falling again since the winter months set in.

About 3 weeks ago, I installed a KN filter. I have driven about the same way as before, and my gas mileage is worse than before, by about 1-2 MPG (down to 15.5 or 16 now). Has anyone seen this? Does it take some time for the computer to "adjust" to the increased airflow? I had a Durango prior to this with a KN and got an immediate 0.5 boost in my gas mileage.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

I have a Pewter TB that sits in a garage that faces south. I have noticed on many occasions that when I open the garage door and the sun hits the cooler temperature truck, the plastic license plate insert starts poping and snapping very loudly as it expands. It evidently expands and contracts at a different rate than the metal and has to be why the paint is chipping around the edges.

You can speed up the "learnining curve" for the vehicle's computer by disconnecting the battery for a few mins and reconnecting. (or pulling the associated fuse) This should be done anytime major mods are performed... This causes the system to reprogram itself and will adjust immediately to the changes. Of course, the reduced MPG could be related to a "heavier right foot" now that you have improved throttle response... :)

Changing tire diameter will affect the speedo readings. It may be possible to get a tire size for a 17" wheel that gives the same effective tire diameter as the 16" wheel. You would most likely need to go with a tire with a lower aspect ratio.

Use the link below to help determine a comparable tire size for the upgrade to 17" wheels. Tim

Thanks for the information. I will try that to see if I can get the immediate change-over. What else is going to ahppen when I disconnect the battery? I am assuming that I will lose my radio presets, anything else?

Resetting by disconnecting battery is not going to tell your speedo what size tire you have.

You will need to reprogram the computer that converts wheel rpm to distance traveled.

Hypertech makes a power programmer, but not for the triplets (yet) that will allow reprogramming things like spark advance, tire size, shift points and many other things.

In a ford, it's a chip. Buy a new chip from Superchips.com. GM lets you do it yourself with the right tools.

There are no gears to change for spedo error, either caculate a similar total tire diameter, or reprogram the computer for the new tire size. I'll bet you can match the total diameter of your 16 in wheel tire combo on the 17 inch wheel by going to a 60 series tire. My Bravada has 245/65 17's.

Will take my Bravada in for the always on radiator fan Thursday. Service writer said there was a service bullitin for a reprogram to fix. Fingers crossed.

After getting into my friend's father's new TrailBlazer, which was purchased last week, I can say that I am thoroughly impressed by the vehicle! It seems to be a well-executed SUV, with good build quality and high-quality plastics throughout. According to reviews I've read, this TrailBlazer can really handle, unlike many late-model Caprices I've driven, which feel very floppy and soggy in comparison. In fact, I think the TB, even if it weighs the same, can outaccelerate a 350-equipped Caprice to 60!

I think it's simply a matter of you discovering that that whatever
gains in gas mileage you could possibly expect with a K & N filter
are negligible in comparison to the normal variations in gas mileage.

Also, the filter you replaced in your Trailblazer was probably pretty clean
and a clean paper filter really isn't that restrictive.

I really don't think these engines are struggling on the intake side anyway.
I'd bet the superquiet exhaust system is more of a bottleneck.

    Hi all...
Thanks to bryancos for the part number for the running boards. Gonna order them, once I get the parts numbers for the mudguards. Emailed gmpartsdirect and waiting for them to reply with the numbers. I have a question about keyless entry. I have a TB LS with the second package, which didn't come with keyless entry. Can I simply order a key fob and program it, or must I install something or do something else. Also, Had a question about the lift gate. Is there a way to lock it with the key? I can open it with key, but can't seem to lock it. Seems that the only way to lock it is with the power lock button on driver's control panel. Any tips? Thanks in advance...

    Hi, all.

Prospective TB buyer here - any rumours on financing in US/Canada later this year? Right now not so good, but I hear it may get better in a month or 2. I'd like to know for Canada, but we usually get the same deals as US.

    Great posts! Learning a lot.

I can't seem to locate the postings regarding the wandering side mirrors on the 2002 Envoy. Seems every time I unlock my car the mirror ends up in a different spot even if I reprogram the settings on memory. I even reprogrammed the DIC so that the mirrors don't tilt in reverse but nothing works.

Two questions: 1. Is there a TSB on this that I can point out to my GMC service department? I'm in NJ and they are not very bright in the service departments here (last time I had my car in for a warranty item they didn't do the warranty stuff but instead changed my oil). 2. Has anyone had any luck in getting this fixed or am I just going to get the same defective parts replaced? Please let me know your dealer name and location if you've had luck fixing this problem.

Love my Envoy. 9500 miles and aside from this, trouble-free.
