my guess is that they didn't have any 4wd on the lot. so they tricked me into this one. as jim was writing me up it was all on his write up paper. i asked 3 times if i could see the invoice. he never came back with it. i asked him if it was legal for me to ask for it and for him to show it too me. he just never brang it. i decided that the invoice must be $700 dollars lower then what i have on carsdirect and he is protecting his $700 space he has to work with. if he gave me a look at the invoice i am sure i would of looked it over real good i have always wanted to see what one looked like. it was gonna be held side by side with my tmv edmunds printout. it would of had the price around $32743 loaded 2wd instead of the $34627 4wd.
the whole time we are dealing i have all this 4wd paperwork and he even looks at it a few times. even holding it in his hands and then setting it back down.
this guy wasn't new and i know he knew what he was doing.
i gotta get the specifics. how do i get outta this? i got 150miles on it and bought it sat. it is now tues.
so i paid for 4wd prices and got a 2wd. its not gonna help to pay another 1500$ difference tagged on.
my agreed on GROSS CAP COST IS $34,575. that is a good deal for them on a 4wd even . carsdirect has their price at 33050 with all the options i wanted. i even showed this to the jim sales guy. i had to aftermarket a sunroof (not all slt have sunroof) for 1200 in the deal. so the price was higher then want i wanted and agreed to pay the higher to get the car that day. i wanted it that day i wasn't sure how long the carsdirect deals take on a popular suv.
whats next i need help.
on my lease papers it says envoy. no 2wd or 4wd if that helps.
gotta go to work please post with info. ;P
For those interested, the part numbers are:
12497608 front splash guards with bowtie logo except 2-tone paint
12497726 front splash guards with bowtie logo with 2-tone paint
12497609 rear splash guards with bowtie logo
If they have processed the title, you're probably screwed.

In the mean time, I called Chevy assistance. They opened a case for me. The guy said that he didn't see anything about this problem in the database the he looks stuff up in. (I wonder if there is something out there but he doesn't have access to it? Who knows is GM knows about it or not???)
I asked how GM get notified about potential problems. He basically said through the dealer network and from direct calls to the assistance line.
So, if everybody who is having this problem calls this number to open a case, hopefully GM will start to realize that there is a problem and they will start to research it.

Hopefully this will teach you a lesson that it's not anyone elses responsibility to ensure you get the car you want except yourself.
In any event, buying a new vehicle is something you want to take your time in doing and you want to be ready the first time you go through the door to walk back out the door.
Some of you may know of this site, others may not, but the best web site I have ever seen on new and used vehicle buying/leasing and other things that go with it is www.carbuyingtips.com Jeff Ostroff is the author and I have used the lessons of this site in my last two purchases and have found it to be invaluable. Plus the stories he tells are tremendous. I spent several days just reading this site before I ever went and made my deal in 1999 for the wife's Grand Am GT. I followed Jeff's advice and guidance, was ready with my spreadsheets when I went through the door, and came home with the car she wanted at the price we KNEW was fair for us and the dealer.
Check it out and tell others about the site.
Steve
Thanks.
I sure wish I had read this site in advance. Anyway, thanks again!

Now, my wife is complaining about a loss of power. She says the truck seems to be dragging. She believes that something is wrong with the transmission. She indicates the problem is real noticeable in the morning.
After reading some of the posts on this board, I went out to garage to look at the rear of the truck and I noticed the paint problem around that plastic piece on the back. Now I'm getting real pissed. Hopefully GM can get these problems fixed.
YOU MUST READ THE FINE PRINT!!!!!!!!! they make this very obscure on purpose.
Why would GM not make it playable through the speakers if they are marketing it for families? I have two young kids that probably are not old enough to keep headphones on. Thanks
The powers that be have heard your plea! Our search engine will be fixed though I can't give you a specific time quite yet. Patience!

The GM Customer Relationship Manager that I had been working with finally got back to me today. I was waiting for her to get in touch with the GM Representative who looked at my car and who said that they weren't going to do anything about it because the paint was "allowable".
To quote her:
"First of all, we have been advised that if and when there is a fix for this issue, it will not be coming out for another year or so. "
To which I replied that I figured that's what he was going to say and I thanked her for her help and that my only recourse is to take legal action. To which she replied:
"We are sincerely sorry that we were not able to come up with a satisfactory solution for you. We
can certainly understand your feelings regarding this situation. We are going to close your file
dissatisfied. However if you should have any other concerns, please do not hesitate to e-mail us again."
Guess what. THEY DON'T CARE! There is NO INDICATION that they are going to fix this problem. We're stuck with it. The award winning trucks that have "allowable" paint scrapes.
Yeah, I was ticked off about that too since I have two child seats to install, but I was simply informed to go to my local fire department or police department for assitance with installing the child seat properly. Pretty much useless talking to GM.

First of all, the single latch that is there provides a good amount of security I would imagine. Second, if anyone is seated in the back, they are supposed to (by law) be wearing their seatbelt. If they are, then the seatbelt will hold them down against the seat and it will not be able to move.
Second of all, our first Yukon rolled over one and a half times on the interstate doing about 65mph towing a 24ft boat. There were two people in the backseat (my brother and me) and even though the Yukon landed upside down, the seats did not come loose. (By the way, all four of us walked away from the crash thanks to the seatbelts).
I think this is being made into a bigger deal than it needs to be. While I am not claiming that GM is perfect and that there couldn't possibly be anything wrong with the design, I think that if the rear seat was inclined to release it would have shown up during crash testing (especially when the seat was unoccupied) and then would have been fixed or altered if it were a problem.
Just my humble opinion of course!
Tlauro was right about the wandering mirror fix! I had my driver's side mirror replaced in December due to the yellow turn signal indicator being broken off, I noticed that the new mirror worked flawlessly whereas the passenger mirror still had a "mind of it's own." On a recent trip to my dealer, I told him about this "crazy" passenger-side mirror and he stated that they placed another one on order BUT they were on national back order.. hmmm I wonder why? Everyone's figuring out that if they have these mirrors replaced with newer models, the control module code has been revised to correct the problem!
After reading tlauro's post # 3302, I pulled out my paperwork from when I had the driver's side mirror replaced. Sure enough it states: replaced mirror with special order part # 15097470! Well.. that replacement mirror took care of the driver's side, but I wanted to ensure that this would correct the problem. I contacted the dealership that tlauro had worked with and was informed by the service tech that replacing these mirrors with the newer models should resolve this problem! My local dealership called today to inform me that my "back-ordered" mirror had arrived and that they will install it next Monday, January 21st (part # 15097471).
All in all, I think that we now have a solution to the mirror problem on the triplets! Special thanks to tlauro for helping in this effort! Since the mirrors are on back-order, I would strongly advise that IF you are experiencing problems with your mirrors, you may want to make a special trip over to your local dealer so that you can get in the "queue!" Good luck everyone and Happy Motoring!!!
PS: Anyone know of any decent Grand Am discussion boards? I am purchasing a 02 Pontiac Grand Am GT1 (4 Dr -- Pewter Metallic w/ graphite leather) this Friday as a second car and would like to do a little more research before purchasing.
Thanks!

If this board isn't for topics such as these, then what is it for?
p.s. I don't know for sure, yet, but I think you're gonna win an award for "Most Sympathetic Poster."
First, you have to realize... WE did not go out and purchase $3,995 Yugo's or the like, but instead we INVESTED our hard earned money into something that cost well over $30,000! For that kind of MONEY, I would expect my build quality to be top notch in addition to other areas of concern (i.e. safety, etc.). WHEN you visit a restaurant and they bring you food with a FOREIGN object in it, do YOU simply look the other way?? I would think NOT correct? You more than likely would ask them to take the food back and RE-SERVE it properly yes??? Well.. the same principle applies to those who frequent this board! I am proud that this board even exists! IF it wasn't for this type of media, there would be plenty of misinformed triplet owners out there getting the "SHAFT" from the various service departments throughout the WORLD.. EVERY service order would state, "Unable to Duplicate Problem!"
IF you feel content having a vehicle of this caliber with chipping paint and other correctable defects then YOU go right ahead.. I don't think that anyone on this board would try to convince you otherwise because for those of us who CARE, we use this board as a collaboration tool for such issues, comments, concerns whether GOOD or BAD. Additionally, with all the incentives being offered through GM, a great majority of the people on this board may have PURCHASED this vehicle and plan to keep it for the long-haul (like me), therefore a 3 to 4 year switch is not on my list of "things to do."
All in all.. KEEP POSTING EVERYONE! I think that the insight gained from this board is invaluable!
Happy Motoring!

Unfortunately, not everyone feels the way you do. Yes, you're right no one should desire perfection in a car in this price range. Guess what, perfection doesn't exist at any price range. But you're wrong to assume that it shouldn't be a concern to people. Maybe you have a light colored car and don't see it so it doesn't matter. But the other half of the owners have dark colored cars and you know what? After a while, that dark colored rear door/hatch will look like crap, not just wax trapped in the crevice.
Why does this bother me so much when it doesn't pose a mechanical or safety issue? Because it affects the value of this vehicle. Not everyone is going to drive this until they die, so when it comes time to trade it in or sell it, this "minor" flaw will turn out to be a major loss to those who do choose to part with it.
So, sorry if you think it sounds like we're saying the world is going to end. (Funny, I don't recall ever posting that the world was going to end unless GM fixed my paint, but I guess you were able to infer that.) And I am not terribly happy with GM's stance that they will not do anything about it. Some have already said that the fix seems like a simple and cheap one. If so, then why doesn't GM just fix it and be done?
Bottom line is GM doesn't want to spend money on something they feel they don't abosolutely need to. Hmm, they felt it necessary to fix the wandering mirrors. Did that pose a safety issue. I bet it cost more to make more mirror modules than to get a simple gasket for this piece. It doesn't make sense. If you're happy with that, then good for you. If others are not, then what compels you to comment?
If I had known about this defect while I was looking at cars, I probably would have held off or bought a different vehicle. It sounds like you feel otherwise, but personally, I would NOT have wanted to pay $30,000+ for a vehicle with a paint problem. I also think that if others knew about it, it would also weigh in on their final decisions. Hence, the need to communicate it on this board.
Everyone with any problems should call Chevrolet or GMC and report the problem and get a case number. Maybe if we banded together in a class action they would take notice.
I am so glad to hear that others are having this problem.
Here's mine, my wondering mirror on my passenger side has been replaced once already. Now I have to take it in again, but this time for both sides, maybe GM will see it as a recall.
Here's another thing you might want to look for, if you notice your gas mileage is getting worse, take it in, there is a little cylinoid in your engine compartment that controls the fuel flow into the carborator, which is rich to lean fuel settings, which automatically controls lean/rich settings for your carborator. The replacement of this cylinoid will bring your gas mileage back up to normal mileage.
Believe me you will now when this happens, before you know it your Trailblazer will only go about 100 miles to a tank of gas or less, when the cylinoind is not working properly, the gas just pours right through it.
Would a Bravada owner check their vehicle to see if they have it too? Just curious.
I am having a potentially serious problem. At 65mph-2000 rpms the truck will suddenly surge to 3500 rpms then drop right back to normal.
It will do this every few minutes. It almost feels as if the tranny disengages, I really have no idea what the problem is, lots of possibilities.
It is at the dealership and I was curious if anyone else has experienced a similar problem?
Help - I need it & the dealership most definitely does!
I also have wandering mirrors.
Thanks for the help!
Much better than my 00 Lincoln LS that had real bad paint all over.
I will not have the paint fixed, nor complain about it. Sometime down the road I will put in some welt to hide/fix/prevent.
I had a high fan noise and Bravada is at the dealer now for a reprogram of the pcm.
Greg
For the Grand Am, try http://www.geocities.com/grand_am_online
There are many links and boards there.
The wife and I have a 99 Grand Am GT1 coupe, bought new, and it is really a nice car. Quick, agile, good mileage, well built. One of the best automotive values from an American car company. A lot of car for the money.
