    No response on this? I take it no one has had theirs replaced then.

    I don't know if anyone else noticed this yet, but from what I am hearing and seeing, Chrysler dealers don't think they are allowed to be selling the 2002's yet. I mean, people from this board have seen them parked out back at the dealers who are still "hush hush" about them, despite the fact that they all have complete window stickers and are ready to be sold. It might also help if DC would announce the pricing and option changes to the media or just put them out there somewhere so people like us can go on the net and find the information easily and figure out how much one would cost with options.

    Whoever the morons and idiots are that happen to be in charge of things like this need fired. Dealers have the cars in stock but are told to keep them out back and not sell them but then people like otto are told that they'll be off from work for a week or so because no one's buying them--come on!! Wake up and smell the coffee DC and try to use your German brains!!

    I didn't know that you were having these problems with your M. You have the badyears right? What exactly is this "shimmy" in the front end you are talking about? What does it feel like? I know we have some strange wiggles or vibrations every so often in the M, but their not there all the time. Come to think of it, a few months ago on this board a P.O.'ed 2000 M owner said that he had got a lawyer and filed suit against Chrysler for shimmying in the front end that couldn't be fixed. He didn't get a court date until December though. Maybe you should start the Chrysler Arbitration process. There's a little pamphlet on it with the owner's manual.

    You know, the more I look a them, the more I like em... I'll definately wait to see what Rogor can do for a discount, so count me in...
  • mykemmykem Member Posts: 203
    his website says 14 300M's are for sale.

    all 2001's.

    I'm certain he has 2002's, since they always get the cars before anyone else in the region -- he's less than a mile from the rail yard.

    Yep Goodyears. On my second set(all four replaced under warranty). Also had problems with my steel wheels and winter tires(perelli winter/ice). The shimmy feels kinda like a wobble in the steering wheel when moved back and forth slowley from the 10 o'clock to 2 o'clock position. It is also very apparent when I come off the highway and slow from 80 down the off ramp. This causes the front end to shudder. And like you it is not at all times. And that is the strangest part of it all.

    Have they tried swaping rims from another car? Might be 1 or more bent rims, or an out of round rim. Could also be warped rotors. No one I have heard has had the rack replaced & dought it will help you after they do that. If it was the rack, it would do it all the time. Could also be some bent suspension piece, bad strut, or bushings. If they haven't tried it yet, have them swap the rims/tires witha set on another 300M & see if that fixes it. Reason with them that would be cheaper then replacing the whole rack if it turns out to be the rims.

    so no one got them?
  • fuzzywuzzyfuzzywuzzy Member Posts: 958
    Give me till the end of next week. I know a guy in Daytona that had a set of 16" rims/tires with little milage on them. I'm trying to contact him, but I think he's away on bussiness till next week sometime. I'm not sure if he still has them though.

    Avalanche and others interested: I've negotiated a nice discount on these signal light kits for Club members. I can't post the information here, but I'll be e-mailing the info to all Club members in the next day or two.

    For anyone going to Monterey next weekend, I should have a set with me for show and tell. They may or may nor be installed at that point because of my busy schedule from now until I head out for Monterey. I guess I'll be the default Guinea Pig. I'll be double safe because I already have the Euro side marker lights. Maybe I'll rewire the marker lights to come on with the parking lights.

    While on vacation this past week, I came out of my hotel room to find one of my tires flat (OUCH!). I went to a local garage who identified the problem as a puncture in the side-wall. Naturally it can't be fixed. After returning home, I went to a local Michelin authorized dealer who told me original equipment has no road-hazard warranty and even replacement tires are not covered at all for punctures. Is he correct? This tire is the stock Michelin 225/60 16" that came on my 2000 "M". There is approx 15,000 miles on that tire and it has a tread depth of 9/32". I've actually never had this happen to me, so I'm not sure who to trust. Can anyone give me some info.

    Thanks
  • fuzzywuzzyfuzzywuzzy Member Posts: 958
    Look in the owners booklet. There should be a michelin warrenty booklet in there somewhere. It sould tell you something. Also did you get the road hazzard protection from your dealer? I got it. I got a new tire because of a side wall hole.
  • russklassrussklass Member Posts: 389
    You're screwed! Very few tire companies include a road hazard warranty...Vredestein is the only one I can think of.
    I purchased a road hazard warranty for my OE Michelin Pilot MXM4 tires ($200 each!) for $12 per tire.
    I did the same with my "99 and never used it...go figure!
  • madchemist1madchemist1 Member Posts: 10
    I just went through my paperwork and on the Chrysler Service contract there is a a box with NO CHECK MARK IN IT that says "CHECK BOX FOR ROAD HAZARD TIRE PROTECTION" DOH!
    So now my question is, what is a good price for this tire? Again it's a stock Michelin 225/60VR16. What a waste...practically a brand new tire..

    Hey, Guys

    I saw on the Muth website that they support heated power mirrors like we all have. But with the Luxury Group, you get the tilt-mirrors and "the driver's mirror is auto-dimming/reacting to headlamp brightness when the standard inside auto-dimming day/night rear view mirrors adjust." I guess you would lose this functionality when replacing the mirror with one of the Muth ones. However they had a "Wide angle signal mirror" that just sticks onto your existing mirrors at

     http://www.kwmuth.com/Products/Kits/200-0056-2.htm

    These are like the small round mirror you see on attached to truck side mirrors. This way you could have both auto-dimming and signal mirrors, plus they also come in amber as well as red.

    kenvan my stock 99' mirrors...damn, u know we be modding out the car when we're start calling the side view mirror "stock"..lol...anyway, my stock mirrors are not dimming. sometimes i literally have to shield the light with my hand from the &@#% behind me who has his highbeams on. the rear view mirror is dimming. but not my side view mirrors...now i got the tint so no more of that problem...

    Rogor2k,
    How involved is installation of these mirrows. It looks like the actual glass is replaced in the existing shell and wired in. Will new holes need to be drilled for wiring or are there spare condutors in the original harness.
  • avalanche165avalanche165 Member Posts: 558
    i was just in my friends dads' new corvette. he's got the option where it projects the speed in mph up on the windshield, so u can keep your eyes on the road and not look at the speedometer all the time. i think they make universal kits, pretty sure they do. anyone know some info on these? hologram fever here we go...
  • avalanche165avalanche165 Member Posts: 558
    installation does not seem that tough, i was just reading this...

    http://www.kwmuth.com/TechSupport/PDFs/21000190.pdf

    looks like have to take off door panel, loosen it anyway, and take off mirror housing, and pull the mirror out, then drill a small 1/4" hole between the housing bolts, to get the new wire thru. snip snip connect. replace replace, screw screw, and tighten. piece of cake :)

    oh and the instructions with the kit are excellent, read them over at that link...

    I'm a lurker, Intrepid R/T owner. I too am having a problem with a Michelin tire. Two different dealers have said there is a "soft" spot on a small portion of the tread on just one tire. It now seems to have collapsed a bit so it looks like there was a bubble in the rubber as well as softer material in that spot. Michelin is trying to say that I parked on a drop of trans fluid or maybe brake fluid and it caused the rubber to semi-melt. They are trying very hard to get away with no adjustment on this tire, and I'm still fighting the battle. 1ST identified at 5,000 miles, now I'm at 7,000 miles and still fighting.

    doesnt look like anything special there, not a bad price, 20 bucks. but with shipping it will come out to about what you would pay anyway at a performance shop. payed 35 for mine i think. just wait till i get my car back and then make this custom intake, becuase i can make them over for not much at all after that...of course i'll have pics and numbers..
  • traveztravez Member Posts: 5
    Does any one have any insight as to where I could or can find a Turbo or a Supercharger for my 00' 300M ? Any other performance upgrade suggestions will be appreciated. THANKS

    got my laptop back from Compaq. Sent it out on Monday at 4pm. Got it back at 11am on Thursday---new keyboard and mouse buttons. Thats what I call service.

    Travez: go with the duals and intake upgrade that others have done here---you get a good bump up in HP and improved gas mileage. If you want an acceleration boost, go the Avalanche route and get yourself some rocket fuel via Nitrous ---- also get a wing---the members here all boast to their wives how it increases horsepower and cuts fuel consumption-- ;-)

    was it a blowout due to tire defect or did you tear it on a curb---they wont cover curb or pothole damage if it was obviously caused by that.

    I recently had a blowout on one of my Goodyears.Not positive, but i thought I may have caught a curb but wasnt really sure by the way it blew. I didnt feel it strike the curb but was driving close to it. Looking at tire it didnt have scrape marks on it, just a tear so I figured it may have been caused by a sidewall defect. Brought it in and told them it just blew out. They were looking for nail holes or cuts in the tread portion of the tire saying a leaky tire could just blow due to low inflation---I felt I was getting a runnaround--then he tells me there is a cut on the tread probably due to a nail or something and that was probably the cause of the sidewall blowout and thus would not be covered. I asked to see the hole---he couldnt find it to show me so I know i was getting the runnaround---turns out they gave me a new tire for only $50 mounted. It had over 20k on the original so I was happy with this.

    Went to Roanoke this morning and John Jastman let me see the material he has from Chrysler about the Special. He said he can take orders in September for November delivery, no word on price or what the horsepower increase is. Here's what the Special has standard over and above the other 300M's:

    360 watt stereo and 11 Infinity speakers;
    smoker's group;
    auto adjust in reverse mirrors;
    perf anti-lock brakes (perforated? perferred?);
    4 disc cd changer;
    auto dim driver's exterior mirror (just for Av?);
    engine controller, high speed;
    standard duty plus engine cooling (that's what it said);
    dual exhaust with chrome tips;
    HID headlights;
    150 mph speedometer;
    245/45 2R 18 96Y tires, chrome wheels;
    vehicle information center (??);
    3.5L high output engine;

    Only optios are:
    side airbags;
    cold weather group;
    sunroof.

    Interior colors:
    dark slate gray;
    light taupe;

    Only exterior colros:
    metallic black;
    bright silver;
    deep sapphire blue;

    And today in his showroom he has 3 new Prowlers, 4 Vipers, a 67 Satellite HEMI and a 70 Road Runner HEMI. The 2002 300M is still on his lot.

    Hmm, sounds like the Ms we currently have.
  • mikeyjohnmikeyjohn Member Posts: 365
    It also sounds like my M except mine is in Kilometres, maybe its just the smokers group as I do not have it LOL
  • beach15beach15 Member Posts: 1,305
    Although Chrylser hasn't yet updated their website with the 2002 models, I was able to find the image that they'll use in the "Build Your Own" section. A local dealer uses these standard Chrysler images with their website inventory, and had it own their site. From this small pic, you can see the 18" wheels, the gray ground effects, and the turning signal mirrors if you look close. From what I see, the turning signal mirrors are on the exterior like Mercedes uses. It is a goofy blue due to certain computer things, but at least you can see what it look like.

    To see the actual 2002 300M Special, look here:

    Hey, the good thing is, if we keep modding our Ms, people won't know which year we have anyway.
  • 300mlover300mlover Member Posts: 132
    From Chrysler strategy sheets I got from my dealer it will also have a two-tone interior choice of Lt. Taupe/Dark Slate. And worded just like this.

    Unique Seats, badging, steering and suspension

    And the tires are P245/45ZR/18 96Y

    And a rear cargo bar on all BUX vehicles (no idea what these are)

    ok im not to sure if i left u guys an update and im way to lazy to go thru and check so ill do it again.

    well i took the M up for its appointment, and yes, he's going to make me a custom billet grill, and he can even put the wing back on there! (i think SOMETHING needs to be in there otherwise itd be too plain or something) and he's looking into see if he can put a cold air intake system on there for me too. hes gonna call me by monday at the latest and give me a price. im gonna leave it with him while im in the field for the next two weeks, starting tuesday.

    now, i need to know by the time he calls (which could be in five minutes for all i know, but no later than monday) if and how many of you are interested in the grill, so i can see if i can get a group discount. he can just make em to the specs of mine, should fit everyones. if you guys would like though, you can wait and see what mine looks like befreo you decide. let me know! *just trying to do my part, give back some of what all ive taken ;)*

    p.s. tomorrows my wife and i's first anniversary! :)
  • silverbullet4silverbullet4 Member Posts: 449
    Phases, Happy Anniversary to you and your wife! I'm glad you are not leaving for the field until the day after. My wife and I always seem to be apart on Valentines Day, but almost never missed being together on an anniversary in 18 years.

    Just got back from Galveston on a work/fish trip.
    (work all day-fish at night ;>) )
    Stay safe in the field.

    It is time for the first oil change in my new 300M and time to decide upon whether to use dino juice or synthetic and which brand. Therefore, I would like to take a survey as to JUST the brand and type of oil used by members of this forum. Hopefully, this will not turn into a giant whizzing contest as it did when someone asked the same question on a compact tractor forum which I also frequent. JUST what type and what brand do you use in your 300M, please. TIA Mike S.

    Mobil 1 every 3K and new M1 filter every 6K.
  • silverbullet4silverbullet4 Member Posts: 449
    Mike, I have switched to Pennzoil Synthetic Blend with a decent filter. I change oil and filter every 3500 mi. in hot part of the year (about 8 months in TX ;>). I may go longer in cooler months, but will check it for cleanliness and oily feel every gas fillup. Mobil 1 seems to be mentioned a lot on this board. You might look into Amsoil products. I don't race my car, so it probably doesn't make much difference what I use (filter excepted!).

    Mobil 1 with Mobil 1 filter (part # M1-204) first at 2,000 miles then every 5,000 for me.
  • sdmike2sdmike2 Member Posts: 2,909
    There isn't a supercharger or turbo available for the M as far as we can tell so far. There is a prowler supercharger, but there is not enough room under the M hood (and it's about $6k plus installation). Here are some common performance upgrades made by people that use this board:

    K&N Air Filter ($40)
    Dual Exhaust ($500)
    Bosch Platinum +4 plugs ($40)

    We also understand that the Prowler Pro gears will work in the M tranny. They lower the shift point about 25%, allowing the M to take advantage of it's high RPM acceleration. On the top end gas mileage will suffer, but it will knock a chunk of time off your 0-60. The gears are about $1,500 at www.prowlerpro.com. We also think Dean at prowlerpro is messing with other M mods, so they may be the place to keep an eye on.

    I just spent 3 days in new england and didn't see a single 300M. Not one. However, a dealer in Boston advertised one today for $5,500 off MSRP. $3k discount and a $2,500 rebate. On my trip home from the airport in San Diego this evening I saw two other Ms, including a '00 inferno red with 4 middle-aged women in it. You know the type...seat so far forward that her chin was almost touching the steering wheel? I wanted to give her a ticket for wasting a car. LOL
  • sdmike2sdmike2 Member Posts: 2,909
    Oh, and don't ask me about my trip. I started trying to get home from Manchester NH yesterday at 11am and finally got home today around 5pm PST. What a disaster.
  • ajpiiiajpiii Member Posts: 260
    Sdmike...

    Did you go outside of Boston ? I see at least 3 a day... Although I doubt they would be very popular in Boston with the traffic and the maniac drivers...

    Thanks easyrider/dkrhardy...I don't recall hitting a curb, EVER in my "M". Unfortunately it's my own stupid fault for not havein the road-hazard protection. I noticed that on the 300M club website, the TireRack has this tire for $123. Does anyone have any experiences with tire sales over the internet?
  • easyrider300measyrider300m Member Posts: 1,116
    Whatever oil and filter they put in it at Speedy Muffler---about every 3k to 3500mi. Once in a while I go over 4K. I may alternate between synthetic and regular oil in the future. I believe in frequent changes being more important that type.
  • easyrider300measyrider300m Member Posts: 1,116
    if you dont think you hit a curb, maybe it is a legitimate defect==does sidewall or rim look scuffed--if so, your out of luck---but if it looks like it just blew, I would give them an argument for free replacement--I did and I won--
