grreetings a a tip of the nuclear-powered mouse to you, Mike for a job well-done! I devoured the pictures you posted in an ealier post and must sat that the weather sure turned out good for you and the SoCal members, et al. Sorry I didn't get to call youse back later in the day, but 120 pounds of lime and a bag of Scott's fertilizer took priority over making any calls.
The pix were great, and it sure looks like everyone had a blast. TGIF?...we have them here on the East Coast, but the don't (at least by me...) include french fries with anything--a definite MUST for the doctor to clog up his coronary arteries with! You know how people love chocolate?.....well thats my feeling about fries!
Congratulations to all the trophy winners--hang your trophy in a place of honor--you've earned it. By the number of 300m's that showed up, Mike and SoCal Carlsbad Meet have raised the bar for attendance @ the Second Annual East Coast Rendezvous/Meet, location undecided as yet. Ottowkr: Do you remember you emailing me about the 'club' site (..the porno black one?!...) way back when? It does the ol' Doc's heart good to see so many of OUR fellow club members gathering together.
Looks like the Cruise to the Great White North , ay (Canada!) to visit you will be a blast, too. Look forward to more pix--especially ones with 'flames' on the fenders *wink*!

    Regards from rainy Noo Yawk,

Mike, it doesn't matter. You answered the question. I would like to send you an email later off topic.

Don't worry, the TGIF has a wide assortment of fries and fry-like goodies that would harden your arteries just by looking at the menu. :) It turns out that the award winners won't be hanging a plaque on the wall, but rather proudly using their 300M Club nylon brief case! Pretty darned nice, and additional advertising for the club. :)

Silver - which question...the Special? Go ahead and send away!

Yes I hope we can get a large turnout for the plant tour. If you ever wondered how a car was built this is your chance to see it first hand. Plan on making the trip north , also your U.S money buys everything in Canada at half price. What could be better?
Sorry , Doc dont remember the email?

Okey-doke - I'm sorry. It's hard sometimes to "hear" messages in proper context, and I have a lot to read which sometimes makes it even harder. I do apologize.

I got a reply back from scott. He should be contacting you directly. However, if he doesn't, he said it was ok to post his email address. It's SipesSA@navair.navy.mil

silver - got your email. Thanks. I'll respond once the baby on my lap wakes up. :)

Sigh. Carlsbad was more than a bit too far to drive from northern Oregon, but it sure looks like it would have been fun.

Everyone keeps saying all the colors except dark green were there, but I can't pick out any garnet M's from the pictures. Was my color represented? :-)
  • blondablonda Member Posts: 542
I don't think there was a platnium either.

though it doesnt have the room of the M, it sure has looks, power and convenience. I would have to see it in the flesh before I would consider it, but it looks very interesting.

    I know of two.

My black 2001 has Hujo-style duals that were installed in Dec. 2001. I kept the stock collector and went with a Flowmaster muffler in the rear. I've got simple slash-cut dual tips. Surf here - http://webpages.charter.net/dodgeboy/indexFrameset-2.htm
    - and then click on my 300M page for a rear view picture.

The other is in the Kannapolis/Concord area and is a dark green 2001 model with true duals using some type of "turbo" mufflers and using Predator tips.

Are there any others out there?

Although I love my '99 M (a C&D Ten Best), I was glad to see them blast the "Special" for the pretender that it is. DC needs to get off their 'Annual Sudo Special' and make real improvements to the vehicle to keep it competitive. The phony power increase from 250 to 255 (remember, my '99 had 253 hp) is a joke. Typical Detroit, windowdressing (literally) rather than real improvements.
  • km99cobrakm99cobra Member Posts: 46
Have to admit, after my test drive with a G35 today my '99 300M felt like a slug as I drove home. I know it's apples to oranges, and the M has tons more room all around, but sometimes it does a body good to feel the need for speed. It left me wishing all the more that D-C put a 300+ HP motor in the Special at least. My decision in 3-4 months when the M's lease is up will be a difficult one, with the G looking like a strong contender right now.

Here are the Borla square oval tips I have installed. They have that gnarly competition look IMHO.

    Greeting folks!!!

It's been many moons since I've posted but I've kept up with what's been going onround here, albeit quietly.

I got an email today from a fellow member of our auto enthusiast gang who has gone silent of late for better reasons than mine.

Phases78 said to tell everyone on Edmunds a big "Hi!". Most club members and older timers will recall his occupation and yes he has been across the water. His words "It's no secret the Army's here."

He was only able to send a brief message but he seems to be fine. I'll pass along what I can as I get more info.

Here's a link to his web site for which features his pride and joy 2001 Black 300M w/PHP.

    http://phases78.homestead.com/300m.html

BTW congrats to the SoCal/SD/SW 300M owners who made it to Carlsbad!! sdmike2 and glennbp the pics are awesome and It looks like everyone had a great time.

As for me my 99 Deep Slate/Agate 300M turned over 71K miles on St. Patricks Day. Very little problems in the 18K of those miles that are mine.

I've had a map light bulb go out. 2 occasions of the light show, like others have posted about. that's it. I need to have the brakes "done" soon and am thinking about replacing/upgrading the front rotors and the pads, for sure, and possibly the calipers with a beefier 4 piston system.

    I still love the car.

Alas the layoff ax fell my way in mid Jan. So sdmike2 you are not alone as a unemployed/direlict 300M owner lol :-). Things are improving in this area ,East TN, overall and for IT folk like me so hopefully this unfortunate situation will be rectified soon.

I'll try to be more active in this 300M thing from now on. It's a pretty cool bunch of folks hanging out here and I'd forgotten how good it feels to share in it with others.

Thanks for passing on the message from Phases too. I was wondering if he had to head over the pond. Also, I hope you have enjoyed your forced vacation. I decided if I was going to be unemployed I was going to be REAL unemployed and really enjoy it. I think it's about time to get out of the house before my wife kills me. I hope you'll be able to find something...as soon as you WANT to find something. :)

Thanks for passing on the message from phases78. He's been in my thoughts lately, and I'm glad to hear he's doing OK. Give him our best and we look forward to hearing from him when he returns home.

Glad you're doing OK too. I've also been a derelict/deadbeat since the last of November. It's much slower picking up around here with the heavy dependance on Boeing and layoffs still happening every 60 days.

Thanks for the assistance with getting in touch with Scott. I found out that his wheels are one that I am considering, I just have not seen the wheel made specifically for FWD, only deep dish RWD.

    Thanks again!

Well, the least you could do is tell us what they are!! lol! :)

The wheels are Boyd Coddington Impulse's.

wow. Nice wheels. Here's the picture of them on his M. http://ritchiefamily.com/car/carlsbad/DSCF2998.JPG Did he tell you whether they're 17s or 18s? Shows what I know. I didn't know there was a difference between FWD and RWD wheels (unless, of course, you're messing with me). :)

I hadn't thought of it, but once it gets warm inside, the wipers are restored to their senses. If I complain enough, the dealer will just give me a new switch, too.

Man, I envied you guys at the meet! I got an email Saturday night from Alaska Airlines saying they had a JNU to Puerto Vallarta for $538. Spent three hours on Sunday trying to actually book it - I was leaving Sunday night if possible. They must of only had three seats at that price since I never could book it. Gave up, looked at your pictures longingly and trudged off to work (six degrees at my house this morning) like the wage slave I am. Did sorta get the M clean yesterday, though.

Replacing the switch on your turn signal stalk is not the answer. My dealer did that awhile back, saying there was a short in that switch. NOT. I still get this when it's cold, but it's only in the intermittent mode. I usually turn it on low or high for a few seconds to a minute to let things warm up and then it will work normally. If you turn it off when it's cold and acting up, it will stop mid stroke and sit there forever until you turn it back on.

It's a very strange problem. Anyone had their wiper motor replaced yet? Did it fix the problem?

A check of my hotmail email account brought up a couple of former @home ISP users who have now become cox.net users. A further check of my spreadsheet shows a whole bunch of fellow Club members who are ALSO @home ISP users.
If you are within the sound of my keyboard, please let me, Roger, Dustin and Brent know if you've changed ISP providers, else messages will be bouncing back to us with fatal errors.

sdmike2: sorry for the voicemail not being turned on----never really used it, so... Glad to see that everyone had a great time--isn't it, like, so kewl to actually get to meet in person some of the people that you 'talk' to online?

It keeps looking like I'm going to join you guys in your involuntary vacations soon. I've been contracting for almost 3 years at one company in the Dallas area, and they keep telling me my job will end soon and then extending again a little at a time. It was supposed to end at the end of October, then December, then March, now set for the end of April, although the boss hints that it might last longer. There are no local jobs available right now in my field, so I'll continue to hang on here as long as they'll let me. When the time comes, they'll have to drag me out with me hanging on by my fingernails!
sdmike....I have a good prospect for my next job at a company where I've worked before in the North County area of San Diego, so perhaps I'll be able to meet up with the SD group sometime soon. If I do work out there, I'll probably get your exhaust shop guy to do duals for my M!

Glenn's M is silver (nice try though!). Platinum was phased out mid 2000 along with the deep slate. I saw a rare M color this morning. A black 2000 which they started making mid year. That means it didn't have the chrome window trim like most black M's you see--probably very few in existance. Very sharp looking. I still haven't seen one of those new tan colors for 2002 yet. Isn't that what Kimies has?

Just picked up my Zaino order $176.00 Cdn. which is about $110.00 U.S. Can't wait to use it but I guess I've have to as we're supposed to get snow on Thursday.

As for all you forced vacation guys; I hope it's not a virus were catching from this board. I only have to go into my head office once every six weeks or so but from now on I'll be checking my bank account every Thursday to see if my cheque was deposited.

MY eMily, or the OTHER Glenn? Kimies M is something called "Light Almond Pearl Coat".. my guess is something like a light Beige color? Sounds nice though, especially witha the tna interior.
Network problems here resulted from a server going down, and the IT floks brought it back up. In doing so, the server assigned NEW IP addresses for a 'bunch' of pc's--mine included. As a result, still no network capabilities, so , uh...membership production assembly line has been temporarily put on hold status--hopefully till tomorrow morning.
    Sorry for the off-topic post.....

The owners manual says (paraphrasing) "to activate the pulse wiper, and get two swipes for a misty rain, push and release the wiper control. To wash the windshield, push firmly and release the wiper control" Even if I give the wiper control the lightest of pushes, it still activates the washer and does its two swipes. I can't believe that is what Chrysler intended when they designed it.

Anyone care to share their experiences on this?

    Thanks

I'm officially the luckiest person in the world today. I happened to be standing in the garage when the hot water hose to the washing maching split open, throwing hot water out like a fire hose. I burned myself getting to it and turning it off, but based on how much water it sprayed in 15 seconds I'm sure glad it didn't happen when we were sleeping! This is one time that I'm glad Big Red wasn't sitting happily in the garage with the windows and sunroof open! Fastdriver....I think I'll keep my M in the driveway. :)
  • sdmike2sdmike2 Member Posts: 2,909
Sorry, but I don't use my wipers enough to have noticed. I'll go check later and let you know how mine behaves.

    M
  • scottjohnsonscottjohnson Member Posts: 61
lee1nyc - what year is your M? My 2000 manual doesn't mention the pulse wiper. In fact, I can get the washers to spray without the wipers moving by quickly pressing and releasing the control. Press it a little further and I get my two swipes.

Unlike sdmike2, I get to use my wipers more days than not here in the northwest. Although it sounds like my garage might be drier.

sdmike2 - Sorry you got burned but glad you were there to stop it.

We've had 4 or 5 inches of rain in the Dallas area in the last 24 hours and today I encountered a new problem with my 300M. While driving in a pretty heavy downpour, water began to drip from the top of the driver's side windshield pillar.
Not great since it drips right onto my left arm (or my left leg if I move my arm aside). When I tried to find the source, I found that the roof liner just adjacent to the top of the windshield pillar was soaked. Feeling around with my finger, the liner seemed dry on the front of the pillar next to the windshield, so my thinking is that the leak is probably coming from the door side of the pillar.
Has anyone else had a similar problem?
I guess it's time for a visit to my 5* (actually the dealer here in McKinney, Texas is pretty good!).

Well, we went today to test drive and price the "vehicle" we're going to buy, and got a trade price for the M. Actually, there were 2 prices. If we bought the demo model that we test drove with 6k miles, they'd give us $18,500 for the 300M. If we still wanted one that was located with the options we wanted and would have to be transferred, they's give us $17,500 for the M. Still, a little low considering the current NADA value of the car and that it's well pampered. A 2000 with 18,500 miles (hey, a dollar for every mile) with power sunroof, chromes, and the big stereo.

Oh, any more guesses as to what the "vehicle" is? Okay, I'll give a few clues: Very little (if any) road noise, no rattles, and more than 250 horsepower. Jeez, it's hard isn't it? Oh yeah, and nothing at all like an M!

I bet its a truck--like maybe an SUV---I remember you mentioning your mother liked them. Am I getting warm?
  • 300michael300michael Member Posts: 1,815
You sure you didn't test drive my M? You did say over 250hp, no rattles and no road noise didn't you. Sounds like mine.
  • 300michael300michael Member Posts: 1,815
We finally got back, took the long way back to Phoenix from Carlsbad. Just wanted to tell you all what a great time I (and the rest of the family) had, meeting all of you fine people and your great 300M's. As a matter of fact, you should check into haveing San Diego sponsor the next event since having all those M's there made it rain. I took about 45 pictures too, so I should have them ready in a few days (unlike you locals who were able to do it the same day).
Mike, we diffinatly have to make this a yearly event. I will try to bring more Aridzoneians next time. Still kicking myself for forgetting that I had my Calfornia duster in the wheel well storage area, duh.
On the way back I got to talk to an M owner I met in Palm Springs (they were from Minnasota) I hope they join the club.
Thanks again for a great time.
  • beach15beach15 Member Posts: 1,305
Well, maybe some of you are getting warmer, but I won't say anything for sure...keep guessing!

As for the AZ meet I would like to have one again this year, probably near October-November, like we had last year. It would not be as large as the Carlsbad meet, but considering the 8 owners we had for the number of members we did really good. They are great for getting ideas and answers to questions and such.
  • fastdriverfastdriver Member Posts: 2,273
    sdmike2-

Sorry to hear about your accident! Hope you weren't burned too badly. BigRed would have been protected with all that Zaino. Then again, if the windows were open, that would have been a problem. Keep BigRed outside and Z'd! ;-))

Was the washing machine on? If not, two things you need to do. First, turn off the water when the wash is done. You don't leave your outside hose turned on 24/7 just because you have a nozzle- do you? Secondly, go to Home Depot and buy those "metal" hoses that won't burst.

That was scary now that I think about it. One of the kids could have been there instead of you.

so now we know its an SUV---so now we have to figure out which one--bet its a GM model, right?--any guesses out there for a GM suv that is tight and has over 250hp--

as for SUV,s, you can have em---they are too prone to tip over and dont handle like the M---but hey, its your mother's money and I guess she is entitled to buy whatever she likes---

at least we dont have to listen to any more M complaints ;-)
