Before I changed my plugs for the first time I bought a set of 12....just in case...but have never used them.
If you want a couple, I'll send them to you free of charge. Just e-mail me your snail mail address at: tsokol5@comcast.net
The only problem is...I just have the screws, not the little plastic spacers. I'm not sure if you can remove the spacers from your stripped screws and re-use them on the new ones...Never tried it myself.....!
I finally worked out a new design for my air box. The tie rods hit the old one when turning, and hard bumps. I had to make it a little smaller due to clearance problems. Just have to fine tune it now. Should be ready by this weekend. It is surpriseing how just an 1.8" here and 10mm there can make a differance. If you are thinking of doing it your Pleunm will no longer work anymore.
The new Yokohama Avid T4s on my M are nice! I'm not an expert on all the different tires. But I can definitely notice a difference. Much smoother and quieter, with good grip of the road dry and wet. I'm about to take a trip to Orlando (about 600 miles each way) which will be the longest trip in my M so far. I did have Tirerack ship them to the installer. Shipping was about $40 I think. Took 2 days. Installer charged $80 to install and said Michelins would be better, but I went by the tirerack.com reviews and some other sources. Hey, I'm happy so far.
I'm indifferent to the change in Town Hall so far (though I missed the beeping car horn when I checked my message center today... does something have to be reset?). What I don't like so far is what Edmunds appears to have done w/the News. IMHO the redesigned News site is pitiful. What was supposed to be wrong w/the links to all those other headlines just last month? At least the 300M board appears unaffected.
I believe that when the 300M came out, their "most horsepower" claim was based on "Ward's Lower Luxury Segment." Now that the Acura has more horsepower, Chrysler simply changed its categorization to "Large Cars" so that it could keep making that claim. Sneaky stuff...
Glenn-- On the Crossfire, I think the speed numbers that you saw were for when they were supposed to put 275 hp in the Crossfire. The last I saw they were dropping the hp way down, like to 210. Unless it is really light, or geared for low end torque I don't see it making tracks as fast as you listed.
You're right! Their website says the Crossfire turns 275HP, but if they drop it to 210, no way is it gonna come close to sub 6.0 sec times. One can only hope they go with more power or at least make it an option for those willing to spend the extra $$.
While all of the other car companies are moving towards "more power" in response to customer demand, DC is considering underpowering the Crossfire. I sure hope they're not that stupid. With the crossfire's looks, putting a 210hp small 6 in it would be like a 6 cylinder corvette. All talk and no action.
Thanks for making my Aircharger mod the "featured mod" on the club website. Now that I've added the "racing flower pot" it's even more informative. LOL!
It was based on the large car segment. Acura TL and the type S. are mid size sedans. The RL is the only Acura in the same catagory as the 300M. The problem is when people think of performance sedans the smaller ones come to mind, ie. BMW 3 series. and the like. The TL's 626, Accord, Camery, are in the same class. Interior volume is what most sedans are judged by.
When I first saw the ad about it in the Chrysler mag I was all hepped-up to see how it would move, then I read an article in the Detroit Press and contacted the guy who wrote it to ask if there was a misprint on the 210 hp. He got back to me a few days later and had checked with his DC sources, and sadly said that they decided to downsize the engine power to just above 200 hp, I think it was 210. Another slug unless they do some tinkering with it before it hits the lots. DRIVE = SLUG
I'm so mad at my self right now I could kick myself.
I got my woodtrim dash today and it looked fine. The color was a little off when compared to the factory peice across the dash, but I thought it was because of the sun hitting it. So I went and installed everything.
The little sponge promoter was useless but that's another story.
Everything installed fine and looked great. However, I remembered that Blonda sent me a sample peice of hers. I took it out and compared it to mine and hers was a perfect color where my was definitely ligher. So now I have a woodtrim dash installed that doesn't match the factory peice.
I have Joshua Woodtrim looking into making me a peice that goes across the dash, but in the mean time, I found this site who sells a kit which contains the long peice.

Hello all. Please forgive the long post but I was recently in the market for a used car and now find myself to be the new owner of a 1999 300M. I grew up in the 70's so I really had to swallow hard before committing to Chrysler (saw too many Aspen/Volares, Diplomats, Cordobas, K-cars, etc. that turned into expensive junk shortly after purchase). However, after doing the research (this forum especially valuble for trouble spots like window regulators, speed sensors, squeaks and rattles) and consulting with my brother who is a long-time mechanic/service manager, including last 7-8 years with DC, I decided to go with the 300. I think I have a good example: paint and interior are almost perfect, engine and transmission are strong, car has everything but PHP, price was several thousand less than Edmunds TMV. Some might think it is boring but I like the color (cinnamon glaze) because it always looks a little different depending on the light and doesn't scream "I'm going 90 mph, try to catch me" when you're going 90 mph. That being said, I am looking for advice from the collective wisdom on a few points.
The previous owner must have had some problems with concrete parking stops during docking manuevers. The bottom of the front fascia is scraped and there is a tear in one section. In addition, I believe there is a black molding or rub strip that attaches to the bottom of the fascia. This is missing. Can these defects be repaired? Can the tear be mended with some adhesive and can I buy and reattach the bottom rub strip? Is it more cost effective to replace the entire fascia (available after market I assume). How hard to remove various parts and what is cost for all options? Any suggestions regarding service manuals?
You all seem like a good group and I plan to check in frequently.
I bought the entire carbon fiber kit from these folks and it fit perfectly right over the existing factory trim including the "long" dash piece. I would trust them!
Well, my mod fever hasn't subsided. I just installed a pair of Dakota digital voltmeters to monitor my forward and aft batteries. They fit almost perfectly in the cubby hole where most of you have your CD changer. I'm now recarpeting the back of my back seat where 2 of my 3 amps and crossovers are mounted to hide some of the wiring. It's coming together nicely but slowly. I found a chrome K&N Aircharger element today also and, of course, bought it. I guess that commits me to dressing up the engine compartment next. So many mods... so little time!
Sorry to hear your dask kit doesn't match. So the JT pieces are lighter? On mine, they are slightly darker, but only when the sun hits it. I had considered the Discount Dash kit first because I really liked the idea of being able to change it over to burlwood which I like better than the "plood" that is in the 99/00 M's. Problem I ran into was the shifter piece. I don't recall which you have, but if you have the "fish scale" shifter, DD doesn't make a piece to fit it -- so you would either have to go without the console piece around the shifter or buy the newer version from DC (which is kinda pricey). Also, the discount dash pieces are not real wood. Best bet would be if JT can make you pieces to cover the existing -- then you'll have real wood all around.
and have just gotten youngest daughter off to her Senior Prom. Before I go on waxing philosophical, thanks to all for your kind comments and good wishes regarding knee surgery. It is very much appreciated, considering my management has not SAID/TYPED or called one steenking, lousy word. Interesting, though that they sent around an email regarding Diversity/inclusiveness training (a real word....) in which they said that this training ..said to help management in making EVERY employeee feel respected, needed, valued , blah, blah blah.... /My own pepartment could be the Poser People for what/how NOT to treat an employee. I have to warn you that I've taken a PErcocet after hobbling around draped with assorted cameras and mty typing is going to get verty bad as I gfo alonf, so please forgive. Felt funny using crutches so bit the vertual bullet and am paying dearly for it. sdmike2: thank Brent/denverm for mkaing your site (aircharger?..) site of the moment. All part of punching up the site with more frequent changes to try to keep the site 'fresh', PLUS I be woring on a little something on my own, during brief lapses of lucidity. silver/whoemever.. wifey has tried Glucsosmine choindroitin ans shark cartilage...to no avail. I feel very, VERY bad that she must suffer so much, but all I can do is to be there for her, but sincerely appreciate EVERYONE's kind words. Prom night.....ah, well......I looked at my daughter (those of you woth children around my girls ages can most likely understnad this...) and wonder where has the time gone? Seems like only a couple yeares ago she was walking along side me with he FisherPrice Bubble Mower helping me "cut" the grass. She looked so mature tonight..maybe as her Dad I just 'block out' the fact that she's developed curves where there were none before......remeber her riding her first bike with trining wheels and NOW drives her own car.....dam, its tough getting old, isn't it? Someone said tonight, Prom night is like prctice for the weddings......evrything but the white gown almost.... Like a lot of parents, here included I've tried to be a good father, though I have not always succeeded. I have tried to be a better fathert to my children than my own father was to my brothers and I. I try to tell my girls that I am VERY proud of them, though sometimes I think they don't hear me. She'll be out tonight to around 4am......I'll most likely be sleeping....Linda wil be up--she's a natural-born worrier externally. Sorry for the sentimental waxings, but it is tough getting a little older and watching your little girl go off the the Prom.....hope you all undrrtand....pill strting to work, so before typing gets really bad, adios, amigos and amigettes......also, PAt, why such a BIG bookmark button?...a simplae text button would work just as well.....sorry for criticism....
Followed your link, went to feedback area, typed my name & filled in the other fields as required. When I submit, all I get is a message that "your name is required" even though I supplied it, and I can't submit my gripe.
Welcome aboard. As to your questions, if the tear is not normally visible I would use two part epoxy cement to repair the damage (or at least keep it from getting worse. If on the very bottom I would even drill a small(around 1/8") hole to keep the tear from getting larger and fill with epoxy. Just make sure you clean the area well. The part you are missing on the bottom, is the air dam. It is not that important to have, and some of the M's have lost theirs over the years too. As for the Manuals, the car ones can be bought on Ebay for less then 10 dollars, the service ones usually cost less then 40 dollars there. I have the service manuals and a few of the other diagnostic manuals for the 99-02 Chrysler 300M's. I use them a lot because of the the modifications to the car over the years. So to me they are very valueble. Check out the Clubs website on the car, lots of valueble information there at www.300mclub.org One word of warning though, If you are happy with the car, Don't look at the members cars, or you may get a terrable desease called "Modidous Neverendus", of which there is no cure to date. I hope you enjoy your 99 as much as I have enjoyed mine over the years.
that air dam is way too low on the M--I kept catching mine on parking stops till it finally got torn off and even loosened up the fascia---I had it repaired but just the other nite I caught it again---off the my friend at the body shop to realign it---never again will I park close to those concret parking stops----
I have not had the air dam on the car for over a year now and notice no adverse affects--so if you are having trouble with it, just cut it off---
mdmark: Welcome aboard. Mine's a 99 also, only in "LHS"-trim! I know this goes against what 300michael mentioned, but check out my revised page to see some of the simple mods most of us here have done:
I occasionally get that tranny bump---when coasting at about 10mph , the tranny will "bump" if I slightly give it the gas---not all the time but enough to be a concern.. Its been doing this since new and I now have about 35 k on the dial.
How many posters here have had this problem? Anyone find a cure yet?
Tom - It's not the tube but the conical filter itself. It's actually polished stainless steel and is a direct replacement. I will try and find a photo and post a link.
Tranny Bump - I too have experienced this on occasion. I believe it's "normal" as there has to be some slack between the gearing and the torque convertor. So when coasting at low speed and then giving it gas that slack is taken up quickly resulting in that "bump". I honestly believe it's nothing to worry about.
The solution is to use autostick in traffic situations where you might experience the bump. In bumper to bumper traffic (no pun intended) I would often get the bump when going from the 5mph creep up to 15mph....I decided that first or second in autostick keeps the tranny locked up and I don't get the bump.
Someone here said the bump was converter/gear slop. I disagree. Sdmike has the right solution to the tranny bump as the problem is the tranny still being in high gear from the current deceleration and then suddenly downshifting to accelerate from the new lower speed. According to some folks on the dodge intrepid site, revised programming in the TCM is rumored to alieveate this.
where are all the speakers in the 11 speaker system? i was surprised to find the cheap paper ones in the front doors today, are these really infinity speakers? come on! i want to replace the doors and the rear decks. the rear has 6X9 and the doors are 6 3/4 but 6 1/2's will fit. i've counted 9 where are the last two? how do i access the rear deck speakers. thanks...
The speakers are located in 1 2.5"on the center dash (by the flashing Alarm LED). 2 2.5" on the doors (by the rear view mirrors). 2 6.5" on the doors (by the front bottom door) 2 2.5" on the rear doors. 4 6X9" (coaxel) on the rear deck.
I recently replaced my so-called "Infinity" front door speakers. Although someone here mentioned the $60 Blaupunkt speakers, I went with Pioneer TS-A1767's. They are "real" 6 3/4" speakers so they are a great fit, but you still have to futz with a special retainer ring (included) to adapt 4 mounting holes to three.
Yeah, the "factory" speakers are stamped "Infinity" on the back, but that's probably just some kind of "corporate agreement" to put the Infinity name on these paper cone speakers.
That being said, the factory upgraded Infinity II system (especialy with the AB amp) is really a pretty good factory system. My 99 is the first new car that I've had where I did not swap out the factory speakers during the first week!
I've upgraded my system slowly, in stages. Here's what I've done so far:
1) put in a Pioneer 12 Disc changer in the trunk 2) installed an Infinity Sub-Woofer in the trunk 3) replaced the front door speakers
The Basslink really brought up the deep notes without becoming a "boom-boom boy" (that's what we call them here...!)
The front speakers are 3-ways and the middle frequencies now really shine.
These were minimal upgrades, but each one made a big difference.
his contract for the fight did have a rematch clause and Tyson did state that he would be interested in that. The stupid guy would just get his [non-permissible content removed] (donkey) wooped again.
Lewis was in control from the second round onward.
Those two gashes above his eyes looked pretty bad---cant say he didnt deserve them though---paybacks a .....I guess the beating he took was well worth the 20 mil payday he got.
I talked to Joshua Tree trim and they cannot make the custom peice that goes across the dashboard (the factory one). I'll be calling Discount Dash on Monday to see what they can do. My dilema continues.
But on another note, check out this listing on Ebay. A fake convertible 300M
He must have seen all the bashing on the 300M Enthusiasts site and had to get rid of it. I am surprised no after market convertible shop hasn't come out with a real chopped top.
