Amazing. I got through to the Performance Parts Group today. He told me the reason I couldn't call for the past week was because their 1-800 line was down and they didn't know it until I emailed them yesterday and informed them of the problem.(My last attempt to contact them)Anyways, he told me the reason my order was delayed was because they had people back out (and some didn't pass the credit card check either) at the beginning, so they didn't have the total needed to make them. Well, he said he will have my answer by Friday on when my chrome intake will be shipped out. He said I should get it in the next 2 weeks.(famous last words) He told me they would of liked more orders for this item and I told him that I was planning on sharing the pics with other M owners and maybe they would get more orders based on how well I like it. I just hope the wait is worth it. We will see.
A Russian scientist and a Czechoslovakian scientist had spent their whole lives studying the majestic grizzly bear. Each year they petitioned their respective governments to allow them to go to Yellowstone to study these wondrous beasts.
Finally, their request was granted and they immediately flew to NY and then on West to Yellowstone. They reported to the local ranger station and were told that it was the grizzly mating season and it was much too dangerous to go out and study the animals.
They pleaded that this was their only chance. Finally the ranger relented. The Russian and the Czech were given cell phones and told to report in each and every day.
For several days they called in, and then nothing was heard from the two scientists. The rangers mounted a search party and found the scientists' camp completely ravaged. No sign of the missing men.
They then followed the trail of a male and a female bear. They found the female and decided they must kill the animal to find out if she had eaten the scientists because they feared an international incident.
They killed the female and cut open the bear's stomach... only to find the remains of the Russian.
One ranger turned to the other and said, "You know what this means, don't you?"
"Of course," the other ranger nodded. "The Czech is in the male."
Check out a company called CGS @ http://www.cgsmotorsports.com/ for an intake for the 300M. I have ordered one and I am waiting for it to arrive. Some one else here also ordered one and think that he is also waiting for it to arrive. I should get mine around the middle of sept. The cost was very reasonable and he does use an S&B cone filter.
That was done in a big bandsaw to make 4 fancy hose reels. It was a defective one from a dealer. I posted the pics so all could see the construction. They've been on the Concorde for a couple of years now and the oldest ones still look good. They *may* outlast the chromed aluminum, which is a finicky process anyway. Without having weighed the two, I'd guess they're similar.
I assume jab02lhs means the sunroof. He probably throws the chicken bones of his buffalo wings (while driving???) out of the sun roof :-) Better not get any grease on the leather!!! :-)
Ah, big deal. No joke, I go to the website often to see what they have, and for some reason thought that it was Texas, but it is Arizona in actually. The wheels look good, I wonder why they got all three in Inferno Red? Is it just to gorgeous to resist or was that the only can of paint they had that day?! I also looked on the Carmax website and at one of the Georgia dealers, they had a Steel Blue 2003 M, and it listed a $1,000 rebate. I haven't seen much else on this, but there's already a rebate? They also had knocked a good chunk of the price off, taking it under invoice before the $1k rebate.
Our "favorite" local dealer still has the Sapphire Special with Taupe & Slate leather on the lot. Hmm...if I had $30k to spend I might go take a look, hey, I might even be able to get a "special" discount once they hear the last name or see you know who...?! I really like the look and the exhaust rumble, but it would have to be tighter and firmer on the road than our 00' non-PHP, which it is. Anyone else interested?
It keeps them buffalo and rib bones from hitting the side of the car, They just sail clear over the trunk :>). No Grease to wipe off latter.
Sounds like hmk123's done some good barbecue on the road too.
Really the first time I heard that was from a friend of mine who owns a junk yard. He had a fellow come in and ask for a bone throw for his old Caddy. He said he must have asked him three or four times what the he]] he was taking about. The guy just kept saying you know a bone throw. Finally the guy said for the hole in the roof.
Is anybody considering ordering a special with the 17 inch chrome all season tires?.. If so, contact me I'd love to talk to you first.( post a message) Has anybody seen the 300 special in graphite?.. SWEET DUDE..... As for dealer cost ( what a bunch of crap) wouldn't you like to know exactly how much the dealer pays for that car .
I'd suggest a few more colors too, maybe Special-only. Wouldn't a limited edition "Platinum-series" Special with real aluminum interior trim be a cool car? Inferno Red would be killer too.
From what I've seen, I think the Graphite will look really very good, as it should match or blend in well with the gray ground effects. Now, all they need is to offer chromed Special wheels as an option.
That's a good one. I'd never heard that before. Yes, we AZ folks do enjoy our fresh air. The biggest problem some people have with the fresh air here is that there isn't any from about mid-May to mid-October. I don't think I've had my sunroof open during the day since March. When it's 114, you *really* don't want any outside air.
I'm toying with the idea of swapping two of my chrome 17's off my 2001 and putting them on the Special just to see how the 2003 might look (Photographic purposes only). Does anyone besides me really care?
Two weeks into driving my 99 300M with the dye in the freon and a/c is working normally and well. I just have to assume the loss of freon, whether from the evaporator or elsewhere, was very....very....very....very slow. If the system is under 150 psi pressure, I find it hard to believe that any leak other than an extremely small one, wouldn't have depleted the freon level such that I would have noticed reduced cooling?
Righto. I think the subject line will only fit two more updates......
I think I'm going to drive this baby until the Pacifica or 300HP 300M (N,O,P?) shows up. Or maybe the Crossfire.
Did anyone go see those 5 minute Chrysler sponsored movies that had to feature the PT cruiser or the Crossfire? I did. Boy, they were really, really bad. No, seriously, I am a movie fanatic and these really sucked. Good thing Chrysler isn't a movie studio. Phil
A couple of things to keep in mind; most refrigerants, and R134a is no exception, are like solvents under pressure. A crack or hole only microns across will allow flow. The leak detection equipment we use on the line will detect a leak as small as ½ oz. per year, and a full charge is 1½ lb. On a hot day the compressor may put out close to 300 psi but that's just the high side. In the evaporator typical pressures are closer to 50 to 75 psi. I recall having to recharge my mother's '94 Concorde once a year, it leaked that slowly.
Very nice pictures. Your sound system is very simularr to mine, except you went with better sound, whereas I trended more towards vidio. You have some of the nicer 20" wheels that I have seen. But how is the ride with the tires, spring, it must be pretty firm to say the least.
I posted about a week ago, about the possibility of getting them for $340 per a kit. The kit comes in 9005XS (Hi beam) which includes 2 HID bulbs, Ballists, wireing harnesses, and instructions. The other kit is a set of 2 9006XS (Lo beam) bulbs, Ballists, harnesses, instruction. To get the kits we would need to order a total of 30 kits. So far we are about half way there. For information check out the http://www.300Mclub.org site for information (on the boards pages). The HID kits replace the stock Halagen bulbs
as i recall my ac woes, you won't see a loss of cooling ability, until the loss of refrigerant is extremely low. you're probably ok with what you're doing, i.e. not getting it brought in and have it checked for leaks. if you did, and they discovered a leak, then you have to either have it repaired or go without ac. just remember to have it checked and filled if necessary every year or so. this way you might be able to save the compressor from self destructing due to no oil in the system. jackg
Pstr - I hope that works out for you. My update: dealer orders evaporator on 8/7. Evaporator arrives 8/22. Dealer can't install til 9/5 due to vacations. 1 month to get your A/C fixed in the summer???? Needless to say how thrilled I am with dealer service. We do have another car but I couldn't show up go to the cruise in anything other than an M.
The a/c was leaking freon. The tech could not detect the leak and therefore filled it with freon. After 30 days the freon was gone. Now, the tech treated it with dye. Again, 30 days later the a/c had stopped cooling and was always on recirc mode when in auto. Around the same time the car also had a starting problem causing it to start only after 2-3 attempts of extended cranking. I took the car to the dealer for the starting issue and a/c issue. The tech replaced the fuel pump and the starting problem was solved. Then he proceeded to check the a/c and found that the a/c was also cooling fine. After a week of driving the car I do not find an issue with the a/c either. I am surprised but will post if I have an update.
OK, I have room for one more a/c update: I am starting to think there never was an a/c problem (other than possibly an electrical glitche that caused compressor to fail to turn on) and the first dealer was ripping me when I overheard him saying (with his hand cupped over the phone) "I'll sell him on the repair". They flushed all freon out of the system hoping I'd take their bait. I have reported this to Chrysler. They set up a file. I am going to call Chrysler back today and tell them the second dealer found no leak.
Just to let everyone know, the EPA mileage I was getting from Dearborne MI to Brampton Canada was between 30 and 32 mpg. This was the real time number on my overhead computer, not the average number. The average number was screwed up because it included the 17 mile Woodward cruise where we were doing a lot of stop and go driving.
The 30-32 mpg number was achieved on my M going between 70-75 MPH using mid-grade fuel, a K&N Air filter (not air charger), a Tornado Air thingy in the intake tube, and dual exhaust with a Magnaflow collector and Dynomax muffler. I also have around 55,000 miles on the car with dura blend (part synthetic, part real) oil in the engine.
30-32 MPG? This is just hard to beleive....my 99 300M never got more than 22mpg driving 55mph on a flat freeway with a light foot, no a/c, at 65 degrees F ambient temperature, using mid grade fuel, 40,000 miles on the odometer, MOBIL1 Tri-Synthetic oil. I'll keep an open mind, but a 253 hp V6 getting 30-32mpg almost seems to defy physics (as currently in practice). The only time I ever got that mileage was with my mid eighties Honda Civic wagon, 4 cycl, manual, regular fuel (car only weighed +/- 2300 lbs).

Oh yea, another Beach joke!
What! Not one 2003 with a bone throw ??
Don't you guys in Az like fresh air?

With the deep discounts and 0% financing on the new models, I think it might be difficult to sell such a new 300. Good luck.
pster-
Hope the AC lasts for you. Saves you from having to see what I-800-Chrysler Cares would have to say about it.
Movies!!! LOL..... that's all they need to get into next! They're deep enough now! ;-))
