The engine warning light that came on after my oil change to my wife's Sebring was apparently an opportunity for the local 5* dealer to sell me some more services. No problems detected. He just turned the idiot light off. I may have a computer module on crack. Who knows.

300M a/c still working fine. Afraid to take it back in.

Going on a short vacation with the family. You guys have an awesome time at the cruise. Take LOTS of pictures, and if you need somewhere to post them give me a holler. I can put a bunch on my webshots site.

    FYI for anyone interested:

The 6 disc in dash changer is now available.

PN is 82207875, MSRP is $395.00

(That's $75 LESS than the 4 disc changer - go figure.)

    BlueBaron here,
We just got an email stating some of the modified M's of this group will be displayed inside the plant on the "white top".

Ok, Otto, how do I sneak in? Or do I need my Dad to pull some strings before he goes away for the weekend?
  • muskateer3muskateer3 Member Posts: 103
Does it direct swap for the 4 disc changer or does the radio have to be replaced as well?
  • wire2wire2 Member Posts: 188
    The email my son mentioned was from me. Here's the message as listed on our plant news today;

How many showed up??????????????????? Inquiring minds and M's want to know.
  • fastdriverfastdriver Member Posts: 2,273
    300michael-

Now DC will SEE what they should have built in the first place! I think ottowrkr and wire2 really helped put this all together. I'm SURE the other factory workers will be in awe when they see some of the mods that have been done to their "babies"!

I can't wait to see all the pics!

Based on the description DC is providing it is a direct swap alternative with the 4 disc. "All functions controlled through the radio faceplate."

    http://www.chrysler.com/shop.html

Go to this link, select the 300M, fill in the model information then select the Audio & Electronics link. You'll see the two changers displayed.

I just hope enough showed up. It would have been nice to have about 100 to be there. Avalanche's old M too. At last years Monterey Meet DenverM brought his lap top to post pictures on the spot.

    300michael-

I was wondering too if anyone brought their laptops. Maybe it would be a little difficult to post from Canada without incurring some expense.

I keep checking the Det. newspaper for any news of the 300M "sightings"! LOL....

If too many show up they will think it is a recall or something. :) News head line "Chrysler recalls", "All Modified 300M's, have been told to it's plant in Brampton for inspection"

    BlueBaron here,
Are you guys trying to confuse me?
Last I heard, the tour is Monday. This weekend I've entered my car at MoparFest here in Ontario.
    I almost won a 360 crate today !

hey there..just found this spot. got a question. I bought my 99 300 used and i need new lens covers for the headlights ( plastic covers ). now i called my 5* and they want 350+ A PIECE ! anyone know where i can get them direct?also..i have to change my battery....how the heck do i get to it?! i got all the way to taking the air filter off. and now i am looking at this black box in my way that i can't move ! I got it out of the fender wall..but thats it ! all help will be GREATLY apriciated(sp).
  • kosh_2258kosh_2258 Member Posts: 338
Sorry to say the lens covers aren't available seperately. You have to replace the entire headlight assembly as a unit. Unless you get a used set from someplace you have to buy them through a dealer.
These two places sell parts at a pretty good discount:

    http://www.oem-car-parts.com
    http://www.wyckoff-mopar-parts.com/mopserreppar.html

There might be some sets coming available here. A few posters have said they were going to replace their standard headlights with the new HID versions from the Special.

Otherwise you might check around at the salvage yards in your area and see what they can come up with for you.

To remove the battery you need to get the air cleaner box out of the way, which is the box you're looking at. If you look you'll see a mounting peg on the right front corner of the box. Grasp the box firmly near that peg and pull up (you'll need to pull pretty hard) until it releases, then remove the box.

To get enough room to take the battery out, you'll need to remove the access panel in the front fender liner. If you look inside the wheel well you'll see about 5 small screws you have to remove to release the panel. Once thats done you'll have enough room to move the battery back and lift it out. Crank the wheels full right to give yourself room to work.

BlueBaron- the tour is at 10 am Monday. If you are around the plant at that time please feel free to join us.Is your Dad working Monday? What shift

Well we all did the dream cruise on Sat (WOW) lots of cars and lots of sun and heat. A great day. In the evening we all enjoyed an nice dinner . We checked out some of the groups nice M's ( as it was dark I did not get any pics of the cars ) and retuned to Canada late that night. Today the group will be heading north to Brampton for the Monday tour.Hopefully today I will get some pics of the group.
  • 300michael300michael Member Posts: 1,815
Thanks for the feedback. Thought all the M's fell off the Earth.
  • 300michael300michael Member Posts: 1,815
What is wrong with the lens. Scratched, cracked, or Yellowing?
  • fastdriverfastdriver Member Posts: 2,273
    ottowrkr-

THANKS for the update! NO pics? WHY? ;-)) Get that camera at HD? LOL.... Just kidding. Wait until you see that Zaino shine on those 300's and those dual exhausts and the shaved doors and trunks! Maybe these guys could give the "top brass" some hints about future models even though they already have that gorgeous HEMI 300N convertible that they most likely will never build!

Know you'll have a great time tomorrow and this group will definitely be the talk of the plant! Think it will make the Brampton Newsletter you have or the Brampton Guardian or The Star? I should have made the trip now that I have the time, but figured they might stone my CL-S OR me especially one person! ;-)))))))

First off, I can't believe that you, your family, your neighbors, or anyone within a 1000 mile radius of you would ever consider buying a 300M. Secondly, are you saying that is the family car or YOUR first car that they gave you?

Well, Beach's message does not actually claim that the new 2002 300M belongs to either him or his parents. Frankly, if he did, I would have to wonder. To review a bit of history: "Beach 15" intially started posting about HIS 300M and its problems, then at some point admitted that the 300M was actually his wife's, then at some point admitted that it was actually his mother's and that he was 15. If I recall correctly, he also posted that family finances somewhat limited the cars they were looking at to replace their 2000 300M. Given all the above, I'll bet there is some other explanation for the new photos . . . .

Well guys(&gals), it looks as if the Treptech chrome intake I ordered two months ago may be dead. Since I started to call them last Thursday, I have been getting an automated phone company message 'the number you have dialed is not in service at this time......' It doesn't say it's disconnected, but nonetheless it's strange and doesn't look good. I emailed them twice about 2 weeks ago and never got a response.

The worst part may be I gave them my credit card number when I placed my order two months ago. I hope the whole thing wasn't a scam. I watch my bank account online constantly. Any thoughts from other M owners???? Anyone else order one? I thought one other owner did, was it AJPII?
  • cmyers300mcmyers300m Member Posts: 206
Let's all hope it's a joke, or this message board will be full on negative statements about his new M.
  • easyrider300measyrider300m Member Posts: 1,116
looks like that M is probably a used car. I doubt his parents would order a spoiler on a brand new M. I always thought Beach would be happier in an Aztek---he tends to favor cars with a lot of plastic on the body.

Beach reminds me of Robert DeNiro in the movie Cape Fear--just when you think he's gone--he's baacckk

I would contact your credit card company and stop payment from that company. The credit card companies are pretty good about these things, and you don't want to have extra charges due to a company going out of business, or using the midnight move scenario.
  • ajpiiiajpiii Member Posts: 260
    Sorry to hear about that...

I didnt order one... I was waiting to see pictures of the finished product...

Unfortunately, doesnt look like thats happening... "Intreper", the guy who was posting on the intrepid board posted a message a couple of weeks back saying he had family problems which delayed everything a bit...

Hopefully you'll eventually get one... Hope this isnt a big scam...
  • ajpiiiajpiii Member Posts: 260
Youve got to be kidding ?!?!?!?
  • ajpiiiajpiii Member Posts: 260
Hey I was wondering if anyone else has had a crack develop on their dash... I have a crack about 2" long where the passenger air bag would come out... Its probably a seem or something, but it looks pretty bad... I wonder if the extended waranty will pay for it (probably not)
  • beach15beach15 Member Posts: 1,305
Ahh....you can all rest! It's just a little joke, but the car is next door at our neighbor's house. It's one of his relatives that are visiting and it showed up this morning.

Just thought I'd be a little creative with displaying it--you guys know me too well!

Anyway, it's a Bright Silver 2002 with Dark Slate leather and a sunroof. No lux group, no chromes, and no PHP (I looked at the tires). It has the Mopar wing, Mopar hood bra, window rain shields, and small plastic mud flaps.

I wonder if fastdriver had a heart attack....! Actually, I have been away for 2 weeks, and there was a new key laying on my bed, but it was to the Av.

Hey, last night on our way to the ER, a blue Special went past us from a light. Looked very nice and the exhaust sounded great even though we had the windows closed and air on. The local dealer that used to "take care" of our M has also had a new blue Special with Taupe & Slate for the past month. I checked around on the net, and it seems as though most of the dealers in a 100 or so mile radius all have at least one Special, with quite a few having more than one, usually all the colors. That, and they're all advertising big discounts plus 0.0% for 60 months--terrific deal for such a nice car.
  • beach15beach15 Member Posts: 1,305
From what I remember the same exact thing has happened to a few others in the same place. I think they all had 99's too, but there may have been a 00'. I do remember some had trouble with the dealer covering it, so I'm not sure about your extended warranty.

Well, with all the neg remarks that were in his posts - either family or directly from him, one would think that ANY Chrysler product would cause a severe rash. I really hope that we are not in for another wonder ride down the same road - all the complaints, and I will not even begin to mention how the "story" changed several times...
  • fastdriverfastdriver Member Posts: 2,273

Well I guess I'll be the first one to post after the Brampton tour as I just got home and only live about 60 miles from the plant. We had supper with all the guys and girls last night in Brampton which was a great. About 15 300M's were all parked side by side in the hotel parking lot which was awsome . The guys who were putting their M's inside the plant had to have them in there by 8:00 am this morning so they were up early. I think around seven cars were placed in the show area and the interest by the plant people was excellent as every time we walked by that area there were several of them doing major inspections. We were adressed by Chrysler people for about an an hour before the tour and even the plant manager fielded a bunch of questions. Several of the not too shy members brought up questions such as warping rotors, devective input sensors, no chrome on the new exhaust tips, marketing etc. There was no one from markting at the meeting cause I guess they were scared of us:). The plant manager promised to have their engineers take a tour through the Edmunds and Enthusiasts sites to see what we are talking about.( They couldn't beleive we had over 20,000 messages on there.) As for the tour we must have walked about three miles except for Roger who claimed his knee was still hurting so he got to ride in a neat mini-me 300M cart:) It was just unbeleivable; from the metal stamping, paint shop and assembly areas. Interesting was that they may have two Intrepids then a 300M then a Concorde all coming down the line all behind each other; not one run of the same make all together. One of the 300M visitors was from Califiornia (Shame on you sdmike for not coming) He's not a member of either group and couldn't even remember where he'd heard about to tour but was a nice guy. He also had lots of muchie food in his front seat. And you gotta see pictures of J. Wyche's car from N.Y. It is just radical. I hope some of the guys have pictures that they can post of this and the other cars.
I know this is kinda long winded but hey: that was my weekend.
  • blondablonda Member Posts: 542
I saw a thing on the Maybach the Today Show did last month. That car is hugh (looks better than a Rolls IMO). It had so much they couldn't get past the back seat and didn't even get to the engine and stuff. It's a rolling hotel/office.
  • fastdriverfastdriver Member Posts: 2,273
    blonda-

They are $355,000 according to the news tonight. They have everything! Reclining seats in the back like a LazyBoy chair! LOL... Looks like the only ones who will be able to afford one will be the ENRON execs and the WorldCom biggies! ABC was kind of wondering about the timing of such a car with the way the economy is and the stock market decline for the past 3 years. Time will tell I guess.

Sounds like the 300M group had a great time in Brampton. I knew they would be the hit of the plant with the mods they've done to their cars.

If they ever had this tour back in mid 1998, I would have definitely had questions for the plant manager. ;-)) Just as well. It's too bad that MORE big shots weren't there to address the group and their questions! It's not like it wasn't planned far enough in advance. To me, that would have been the thing to do when you have such a group of DC believers who have spent a fortune of their cars. It would have shown that they are interested in what the "ordinary" guy thinks about their product and how to improve it. I guess that's not the way the business world works.

The tour sounds great. Wish I could have gone, but I couldn't spare the time from work right now. I would have loved to see the production process.

I'm taking my M in tomorrow to change the power steering fluid and have a couple little things looked at/put on record before the warranty expires. Mileage should be about 35,950 when I get to the dealer, and after this trip any repairs will be on my tab.

Awesome recap...thanks! I just got back from a 4 day vacation at Big Bear lake. Saw a dead ringer for Big Red (I even had to check the license plate to make sure she didn't follow me). Hey, glennbp and mrl859...there's a new dark blue special crusing around PQ Towne Centre. Just saw it tonight. :)
  • 300michael300michael Member Posts: 1,815
Glad to hear it was a sucess. I too can't wait to see the pictures. I was hopeing more showed up. With all the M owners back east, I thought more would show.
Like SDmike I only had two days off, so it was a short vacation for me. Family left today so I can start working on the M again. Except for the side marker lights and the 300M logo right below it the sides are shaved no "Chrysler", and no door molding. I just hope I do not get any door dings before Saturday. The stock door trim doesn't work too well in the new location I wish to put it so I will look into new trim.

I think the next time there is a plant tour glennbp, blonda, mrl859 and I will rent a car carrier and shuttle up there. Naaaaa....on second thought, that would take away all the fun!
